Lovely cottage in an excellent location Customer 1 (03 July 2024)
The Reading Room is a perfect place to stay and explore Norfolk, with or without a car as the bus services are very well connected. The decor is superb and thoughtfully selected to create a comfortable and calm atmosphere. The little garden is a delight and the conservatory is an absolute boon, especially given the present unpredictability of the weather. The perfect place to sit on grey, rainy or sunny days! Customer 2 (25 June 2024)
Lovely house well appointed and clean would recommend highly Colin Sharpe from Crowborough (19 May 2024)

A lovely cottage in a good place easy reach of two great pubs. Shops are a little drive away but on the outskirts of the village is a lovely deli, butchers and coffee shop. The owners are very attentive and communication is excellent Customer 6 (21 April 2024)
Lovely little cottage for relaxation Customer 7 (31 March 2024)
9th - 14th March, 2024Absolutely thoroughly enjoyable little time away staying at this delightful little cottage that is 'The Old Reading Room', formally, Salhouse Hall. Steeped in history, this charming cottage has been meticulously renovated to a high standard. The owners clearly have an eye for detail, not only in the restoration, but in how the interiors have been created. Shout out to the cleaner who left the cottage impeccably clean and ready to go.Loved the log burning stove and garden room/conservatory - I could appreciate the quality on offer here. There are even electrically remote control blinds to the lounge and bedroom to the high level circular windows - very nice touch! The cottage has a reasonable driveway, though larger cars might have a slight problem (anything larger than a mid sized family car). That said, a larger car could probably be manoeuvred along and in front of the property. Also, more logs for the log burner for longer stays would be appreciated. There was enough for a couple of days/weekend, but not for the best part of a week's long stay. The cottage sits directly on the flightpath to Norwich City airport, runway 27, but the planes are few and far between and certainly no cause for concern regards noise. Zero military aircraft activity in the area during the stay which we certainly have back home. Having recently stayed at another Norfolk cottage, a couple of electric air fresheners would be a welcome addition and make such a big impact at very little cost. The village has a wonderful pub/restaurant - 'The Stag'. which is just a few minutes walk up the road. Also, ideally located for the city of Norwich and so many other local Norfolk locations and attractions. There is a massive Tesco Extra (Blue Boar) just up the road and fantastic fish & chips shop (Jason's), five minutes drive away at New Rackheath. Sprowston Park & Ride into the city is again just a short drive up the road.A wonderfully relaxed stay in a beautiful cottage and location.Quiet and private!Overall, a really good enjoyable experience and apart from the very minor points above, you will absolutely thoroughly enjoy 'The Old Reading Room'.Look forward to a future holiday here... Kevin Barnes from Holt, Norfolk (17 March 2024)
We have just returned from a week at The Reading Room (11th-18th August). What a wonderful property in a perfectly positioned location to explore this beautiful area. The property had a beautiful interior and really felt luxurious. We were a two minute drive /twenty minute walk from Salhouse Broad-and at the other end of the road was a beautiful pub ,The Stag, perfect for tea and a drink. It's a gem of a place. Couldn't recommend highly enough. The owners were fantastic , really helpful (especially when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the property and left a charger behind)
Local attractions 15 minute drive to Wroxham / Norwich. Well worth a drive up to the North Norfolk coast Holkham,Cley on Sea, Winterton on Sea,Burnham Market. There are alsoa number of RSPB reserves within a short drive which we loved . Neale Evans from Newcastle Upon Tyne (28 September 2023)
We had a lovely stay at the reading room. The accommodation had everything we needed and was a great base for getting around Norfolk with most places within a 30 minute drive. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was very powerful which was great. A short walk down the road and you come to the Salhouse Broads which is beautiful. There is also a pub which is about a 10 minute walk from the house which is very nice. There is a Tesco extra which is about a 12 minute drive away so plenty of amenities close by. We visited lots of different beaches with our favourite being Winterton on sea, which is dog friendly and has good amenities including great ice cream. Horning is worth a visit and they do a boat trip on the southern comfort which is very nice. I would definitely recommend staying at the reading room, which is decorated lovely and is very homely. I especially liked sitting in the conservatory and would definitely come back. We had a lovely stay. Thank you. Customer 10 (30 August 2023)
