The boiler in the lodge seemed to have a mind of its own coming on and off at random times and as it was in the bedroom in a cupboard that didn’t close properly it disturbed sleep. However the wet room was amazing - king size bed so comfortable - overall let down by attention to detail - stacks of brochures in the drawer some 3 years old ! Welcome pack consisted of a small jug of milk ! We do appreciate though that due to Covid the owners have had and are still having a dreadful time with the ... Mrs Vasey (September 2020)
The whole place felt very clean and had everything we needed including milk for a brew on arrival which was a lovely touch. Miss Brooks (September 2020)
Has everything you need, the owners are very friendly and there are loads of places to visit nearby. Miss Finch (September 2020)
Although the owners lives on site, we had complete privacy but felt very welcome. Very comfortable accommodation with a well equipped kitchen and the bed was so soft. The location was a fantastic base for exploring both Wales and the cities of Chester and Liverpool, we will definitely be back again in the future! Mrs Pullen (August 2020)
The lodge was comfortable and stylish and we will be booking again to do all the things we didn't have time for on this trip. Only small criticism is the kettle, an electric kettle would be so much easier and safer. Mr Jackson (September 2019)
Easy to organise key collection. The whole holiday to booking to staying was just so easy. Miss Atkinson (September 2019)
Really comfortable, good amenities and owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely be booking again. Mr Parker (August 2019)
The kitchen space is very small if you intend to cook from scratch - very little worktop space and the lighting not adequate in that area - we solved this by moving one of the standard lamps from the lounge area - otherwise you are cooking in your own shadow. Basic cooking implements supplied, 2 saucepans and one frying pan. The oven gloves were missing as were two dinner plates, but a replacements were quickly provided by the owner. No welcome pack at all. 1" of washing up liquid and 1" liquid hand soap left by the kitchen sink, washing-up sponge not new - these seem like false economies! Bed huge and very comfortable, lots of storage space and extra bedding provided if needed. The lounge area has a lovely view with fully opening doors, unfortunately it rained the entire week so we were unable to take advantage of this. Lounge has two sofas and lots of space to move around. WiFi excellent and TV with Freeview. Fantastic piece of wall art. There was a stag-party over the weekend, they were staying in tents further along - we heard nothing from them - but be aware that everyone who stays in their own tent or in the glamping tents has to walk or drive past The Lodge. Brilliant location for visiting Chester and lovely walks from the door. Ms Franklin (June 2019)
Would suit people who like the peaceful location and close to lots of places of interest. Nice visit from the cat and dog, however I think the dog wanted to stay too! cute. We used this as a stay for Chester Zoo, well worth a visit, and only a couple of miles away. The local village has a great Co-op for all those things you forgot, or for when you drink too much wine on the first night, you can get extra supplies. Mrs Jodko (May 2019)
The Lodge is situated in a central position for Chester and has everything that you need for a brilliant short stay, Mr Sharp (May 2019)
The Lodge itself was in need of attention as some of the crockery was old and chipped and the dining chairs were rickety. To make matters worse, the calor gas supply stopped working during our stay which meant that we had no cooking facilities, heating or hot water during a rather cold period. An engineer was called in to solve the problem which was rectified within 24 hours. The outdoor seating patio area boasted weeds and cane patio furniture that was literally falling apart. As for the fabulous views, horse manure dumped to the left, horse manure in the paddock, insight, to the right just left to rot. Of course, once again there was no mention of horse and stables facilities on site in your description. Due to the state of the property and its surrounding areas we actually cut short our holiday and left earlier than originally planned. Disappointed is not the word to describe this property but the term 'a waste of money' is a more apt description. I suggest you do your property research more carefully. Mrs Pickering (May 2019)
Very handy for Chester being a short drive away. Mr Morgan (April 2019)
The owners were very respectful of your privacy but were still there if you needed them and very friendly. The building had been renovated from old stables, using local materials and had everything you could need for your stay and more! Mr Phillips (April 2019)
I appreciate this doesn't always mean conditions are like this, however, it did mean during our stay that there was no central heating or hot water throughout the duration of our stay. Our host Lisa was accommodating and let us use the Shower in the house, however this is not the situation that we signed up for and if we knew this would have been the case before hand then we wouldn't have booked this lodge. Mr Hibbert (November 2018)
Quiet rural location on the edge of a small camp site. Mr Ashby-hayter (August 2018)
The best ever! Every detail was bespoke and so, so unusual. We loved it. Would highly recommend this property. The location was very quiet and peaceful. Weather was perfect and all in all a great week away! Mrs Parrott (June 2018)
Always clean, in good places . Nearly home from home!! Mr Bottomley (June 2018)
The cottage was well equipped and furnished - bed was extremely comfortable. We were 45 minutes from the middle of Liverpool and 45 minutes from the Welsh coast and, an added bonus, the weather was excellent. Mrs Harrington (May 2018)
Beautifully presented and well equipped and the right accommodation for my mum who has mobility issues. The location was stunning too. The ideal place to unwind and get away from it all. We were only disappointed that our weekend went so quickly. Ms Clark (March 2018)
A beautiful lodge in beautiful surroundings. We will definitely be staying here again :) Mrs Brown (May 2017)

The lodge in Saughall was excellent. There were good facilities, and was only a ten minute drive to the center of Chester. There are lovely views of the Welsh hills in the distance and the owners are very friendly. Miss Turner from Bury St Edmunds (October 2016)

The location is great, especially for people who want to explore around Cheshire, The Wirral and North Wales. The cottage was ideal as a base to get up and ready, set off along the many paths and trails, then wind down with the French doors and patio looking out onto the countryside and a huge sky. Thanks. Such a fantastic place to stay, wish we could have stayed longer! It was a gorgeous lodge which was well decorated and furnished, and had everything we could have wanted! I loved being surrounded by the animals, it was like a home from home! Would definitely recommend this to family and friends. We also had a wonderful time visiting the incredible Chester Zoo. We were the first guests to stay in The Lodge and we were warmly welcomed by the very friendly and helpful owners who were keen to ensure we had all we needed. The property was spotlessly clean, everything was brand new and of a high standard. The underfloor heating kept the property at a perfect temperature and we were very comfortable. A very quiet, peaceful and relaxing break, we would highly recommend The Lodge to anyone. Many thanks to the owners for sharing their property with us, I think we will be back!
