The beds were very comfortable and the house was very clean. Would recommend and definitely re visit. Mr Darlington (August 2021)
Thanks to Simon who was very helpful. Just a quick note - The directions are out of date as the road from the A40 is now closed, so we needed to access the cottage via the Heads of the Valleys road, through Gilwern village. Mrs Cross (July 2021)
Clean, comfortable and the owner next door for any issues or advice. Would definitely stay there again. Ms Farley (June 2021)
Friendly and helpful hosts. Walking distance of village facilities and canal walks. Short drive to major facilities in Abergavenny. High quality interior fittings and furniture in solid oak. Single bathroom OK for 4 but additional shower would help for 6 person letting. Similarly a dishwasher would help for 6 persons. Mr Blyth (September 2020)
The accommodation had everything we could possibly need and more!! The rooms are spacious, light and airy and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. There is also a lovely garden to enjoy and the owner is welcoming and helpful. Riverside Barn is ideally located with plenty of nearby hills for keen walkers to tackle and the lovely canal towpath for a more leisurely stroll. We would highly recommend this property. Mrs Thackray (September 2020)
The photos do not do the living room justice; it is super bright and airy. The kitchen is well equipped and the sofa and beds are really comfortable. The garden area is large, well-maintained and there was a basketball hoop and a football and rugby ball in the garden for anyone visiting to use. It was well situated for trips to Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Skenfrith castle and there were nice local walks too. The sky at night was beautiful too with great views of all the stars. Situated just north of Abergavenny, this barn is fantastic. Spacious lounge combined with kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and a games room. The host is fab, and it's wonderful to go for walks around the farm and down to the river. There are so many places to visit nearby. we had a wonderful holiday. Mr Drewett (August 2020)

There is so much to do especially if you enjoy being outside - beautiful part of Wales and well worth a visit. Cottage is really well equipt especially if you have children, loads of books and lovely games to play. Very warm and quiet - perfect. We will definately return - thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. Mrs Beale (October 2019)
Perfect weekend away Four of us stayed for two nights in the Riverside Barn, we had a fitness event in Crickhowell and the location was perfect being just 10 minutes drive away.Prior to arriving we received full instructions on access to the property, our arrival was smooth and a very easy process. The owner came to introduce himself, showed us around and gave us advice on places to eat and the local area. He was so friendly and said if we needed anything just ask.The barn was very clean, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend and would visit again. The accommodation is fitted to a very high standard, and the setting is beautiful. Mr Ashton (September 2019)
Lots in the area to do with kids. Mr Clark (August 2019)
What a beautiful cottage/barn you relax from the second you walk in. Everything is finished to the highest standard and there is everything you need (and more) at hand. Simon the owner was there to greet us when we arrived and talked us through a few things and to gave me his number if we needed anything, the farmhouse in just across courtyard but we never saw them after that. There is a lovely games room if you have children although my son and husband liked the air hockey. 3 lovely sized bedrooms, one with a stable barn door which added to the feel. Outside the back door there is a lovely sitting area where you can have a coffee or just relax looking out over the large beautiful tended garden. There is also a summer house for use with bbqs and swinging hammock etc with a large table and chairs for dining al fresco. A little walk up the lane takes you to the toll path inn which sits alongside the canal where we sat watching the barges come and go. One mile in the opposite direction is. ‘The Bell’ where we had a wonderful meal. Definitely one to try, we will be back. Morgan (June 2019)
.....this place is a must! Mr Sellars (March 2019)
Absolutely loved it. Thank you SO much for a wonderful stay. Mrs Allen (January 2019)
Only slight problem is the access roads very narrow but if used to driving on narrow roads then no problem. Very peaceful but need to mention the freezer is outside and shared. Mr Pryor (September 2018)
Lovely location - we walked into Abergavenny which was a little bit of road walking followed by miles of amazing scenery along the river. Only things I would say can be improved with the cottage- needs a dishwasher!! Softer pillows would be nice, and more kitchen provisions (there was no bottle opener, foil, very few knives etc) and toilet roll! All small things and was still amazing would definitely return. Mrs Powell (September 2018)
Fantastic well equipped and furnished cottage very comfortable beds and hosts that go the extra mile great games for the kids of all ages Mr Green (July 2018)
Weekend away - family and friends We arrived on Friday afternoon, previously given full information on how to find the farm and enter the barn. All good. The setting for the barn is idyllic, very close to the main farmhouse and with beautiful trees and fields to the rear of the barn. The barn itself is openplan, kitchen lounge and dining room all in one high vaulted room. I believe it was the dairy. Everything is furnished and accessorised to a high standard. There are 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a small games room downstairs. Upstairs via quite a steep staircase is a huge room with twin beds. All very comfortable.Simon, our host came to check we were all settled in, and then kindly found us a bigger pan from the house to cook our chilli for dinner. He also showed us a summer house by the patio with extra fridge and freezer space.Gilwern is between Crick Howell and Abergavenny and we visited both towns during our stay. lovely independent shops. These are NOT complaints but just points to note. One bedroon has only a stable door with a window. this has no curtain. Dawn was early in June and the light flooded the bedroom. I used an eyemask the second night - all good.Sitting outside for most of our meals and chatting we got bitten by little flies. It happens, its the countryside! But have some repellent if it bothers you.To make this place perfection, another toilet would have been useful and with 5 of us it needed planning to shower and get out in the morning. the barn has only 1 bathroom. We are all thinking of returning to this lovely place. The location was beautiful, especially at this time of year (early May) with the surrounding fields full of wild flowers, the river close by and a back drop of hills/mountains. We had a long weekend and enjoed local walks around the farm and the more strenous 4 waterfalls walk in the Brecon Beacons, which were stunning. We also managed to fit in a trip into Abergavenny (we didn't have to hope the weather was fine - it was glorious!) and we had a lovely meal in the Bear Hotel, in the picturesque town of Crickhowell. The cottage had absolutely everything you could need and the owners could not have been more helpful. I would certainly return - so much we didn't have time to fit in. Really worth the trip. A Holiday Lettings verified reviewer (May 2018)
good local pub and shop nearby. Very easy access to Abergavenny, Crickhowell and the Brecon Beacons National Park, River Usk, Brecon - Monmouth Canal, also the excellent Market Hall Cinema in Brynmawr and the homely and excellent cafe in the Market Cafe in Abergavenny. Ideal for walking , sightseeing or just pottering about Mr Dew (March 2018)
Your use of homeaway lead generator/SEO was extremely detrimental to the booking experience. If I had more time to spare prior to the holiday I would have walked away and Sykes would have lost the booking, all good will and any future bookings. ... Mr harwood (November 2017)
I was livid to learn that they had charged me £30 purely for the lead generation and not made the booking as expected, causing me to have to repeat the whole process with less time to spare and causing more stress. If I had more time to spare prior to the holiday I would have walked away and Sykes would have lost the booking, all good will and any future bookings. Only my time constraint caused me to call and the helpful staff working on Sunday turned it around enough to retain the booking. You are doing yourself a great disservice with your business relationship with Homeaway. I can't recommend strongly enough that you end it and just do a bit of SEO work on your own behalf. Without Homeaway I should still have found the property via the Sykes website as it fit my criteria and there aren't that many which did. As it was, the booking process generated a lot of unnecessary stress and left a bad tase in the mouth. Mr harwood (November 2017)

The cottage was modern and comfortable and the location was ideal, with high-quality equipment, furnishings and bedding. There was plenty of space inside and out for us to relax in. We arrived to find flowers, milk and Welsh cakes waiting for us. The owner was helpful when we needed an extension lead and suggested places to eat locally. Most horrible first trip with our 4 month old We have been told by the owners that they would be around to greet us and that the barn would be open, but when we arrived at the property in the dark and cold aroudn 5 pm no one was around, the doors were locked and no one could be reached on any of the phone numbers we had. We had repeadetly tried to access the property and tried to reach the owners and finally gave up and left at around 9 pm. I find it horrifiying that anyone would leave a young family in the cold and dark for so long. We finally received a text with the key location at 0.40 am. I have no idea what the owners have been thinking that we would still hang around this late. For a first trip with our 4 month old, it could not have been a more horrible experience. Good that she won't be able to remember! Customer 47 (22 November 2015)

This is a fantastic open-plan cottage that has lovely furnishings. The kitchen is very well equipped and the owner starts you off with a pint of milk, tea, coffee sugar and a cake. There are also fresh flowers in the room. The three bedrooms, 2 doubles and a twin room upstairs, offer very comfortable beds and the location is great for getting around to enjoy the sites in South Wales. A car is necessary but the parking is free and secure. Very quiet, beautifully furnished and excellent service from the owner, who is on hand if you need them but are also happy to leave you alone to enjoy your break.
