The Company were swift in replacing the fridge for us (although I had to help....assisting with the lifting down stairs of the old fridge and the lifting upstairs of the new one. We also had a faulty toilet, this was not rectified. When I tried to engage with Carbis Bay Holidays about our experience and the stress of the toxic gas leak, they ignored all my emails for over two weeks. When I got through on the phone to ask why my emails had not been answerd, they advised me that the owners of the property would offer no apology or compensation of any kind, as they could not be 100 percent sure that the fridge had been leaking toxic gas. After all the research I did online I can be certain it was a gas leak....I can also be certain that the cleaner must have smelled it too when cleaning before our arrival - but she did nothing to report it to anyone. Overall I found the customer service of Carbis Bay Holidays to be very poor - not returning any of my emails. And the attitude of the owners to not offer any form of compensation or apology for our stress and inconvenience, shows them to be rather miserly in my opinion. I would avoid Dolphin Watch for this reason and I would not be inclined to book again with Carbis Bay Holidays or indeed Sykes Cottages, their new owner. Hyde (July 2021)
Dolphin Bay met all our expectations and beyond. The kids were in awe of the stunning views from Dolphin Bay and the excitement of seeing the train running past down below made our son's day. The look on our kids' faces when they saw the views was unforgettable. Our stay at Dolphin Bay will always be treasured as a time where we as a family made much happy memories. It was all that was needed for our family to have the much desired time together after a stressful few months of both emotional ... Review (Apr 2019)
Website was really easy to navigate & loads of pictures which was good. Booking was all seamless & I like your online payment method made it really easy to pay anytime of the day." M.Elliot Testimonial (Jul 2015)
We had such an amazing week in Dolphin Watch. The apartment was fantastic, so clean and well kept and everything we could possibly need. Carbis bay beach was glorious, we had fantastic weather and it wasn't crowded so had a very relaxing time. The coastal walks and views were stunning. We are now converts and will be returning next year and not be venturing abroad. We were so sorry to leave and my daughter of 7 years old has asked if we could move there permanently!! OH IF ONLY" S. Hinkler Testimonial (Jul 2015)
The apartment was clean, warm and immaculate. Everything that we required was provided. We were impressed by the smooth handover and the goodies in the fridge! After our long journey to Carbis Bay, the first thing we did was to have a cup of tea and a scone! (It's the small things that count!!) The highlight of our stay was to see the dolphins swimming across the bay in Coverack. Wow! " R. & I. Gerrard Testimonial (Jun 2015)
The advantage of being so close to the charming railway is also a bonus because you can leave the car and take in the views. We eat out at several restaruants but out of them all we liked the food and views offered at the Lifeboat Inn at St Ives." G. Childs Testimonial (Jun 2015)
The view from the apartment well say no more what a view!! We walked yet again one of our favourite walks, Helford to St Anthony then to Carne, up to Manaccan and then to Frenchmen's creek via Kestle before our return to Helford,Another favourite walk -Lizard to Kynance Cove, then follow coastal path back to Lizard Lighthouse then go on to Lifeboat station before a return to Lizard village. Another walk - Lizard to Cadgwith following coast path and return, after taking some brown bread and butter and purchasing some wonderful crab in Cadgwith, walking back up to the coast path, finding a bench and devouring the crab wonderful. We also completed a further 4 lengthy walks including Minack theatre to Lands End and return " M. Randell Testimonial (May 2015)
It was so incredibly convenient, punctual and reasonably priced that we hardly used the car during the whole week of our stay. The apartment was very comfortable and very well equipped, the 'dolphin spotting' binoculars were a nice touch although we didn't see any dolphins this time around, they did give a good view of St Ives though, and we actually spotted a genuine tall sail ship one day." J. Hough Testimonial (May 2015)
Our 2 year old daughter loved the view as much as we did! We had everything which we needed and really appreciated the few bits that were left in the fridge for us - especially the cream tea. Carbis Bay beach is wonderful and we used the train nearly everyday. The Sloop Inn in St Ives was great for a relaxing drink and we used the Dolphin pub in Penzance which was very child friendly. Paradise Park was really good for a rainy day as was the swimming pool at St Ives." L. Goodman Testimonial (Apr 2015)
The coastal walk to St Ives was very scenic. The Barbara Hepworth museum was worth a visit. We enjoyed an evening meal at the Italian restaurant at Carbis Bay and the take away Fish and chips were fantastic! The view from the lounge window was beautiful and something we will remember for a long time. This is one place that we hope to be returning to again soon." E. Dunkerton Testimonial (Apr 2015)
Ives. The apartment was great, particularly the view from the lounge. The location was ideal for us, as we travelled to Cornwall by train. So the proximity of the station allowed us to travel extensively. The apartment had everything we needed." M. Green Testimonial (Mar 2015)
Regarding the local area Blas in St Ives serves excellent burgers in a small yet relaxed environment. The Gurnards Head at Zennor produces superb food as does Fifteen Cornwall at Watergate Bay. I can also recommend One Eyed Cat bar/bistro to grab a good lunch whilst in Truro." J. Enright Testimonial (Mar 2015)
The furnishing was lovely and myself, my husband and my daughter thoroughly loved it." C. Armstrong Testimonial (Feb 2015)
No faults at all. The weather last week was lovely and we were able to leave the car as much as possible and walk or catch the train. We had lots of days on the beach both at Carbis Bay and St Ives." L. Speake Testimonial (Feb 2015)
The apartment is very well furnished and equipped, very comfortable, and in a fantastic location. To eat in the local area I would certainly recommend the Gurnard's Head Inn near Zennor - great choices, especially fish and vegetarian. Also for Mexican food try The Mex in St Ives near the cinema. Small but pleasant surroundings with a varied menu at reasonable prices. The One Eyed Cat in Truro is great for lunch to support a shopping trip. And for a wonderful place to visit I recommend the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek." J. Enright Testimonial (Dec 2014)
Accommodation clean and well furnished with stunning views, admintration of booking very effiecient. Sloop Inn and the Hub in St. Ives both gastro pub food for the fraction of the price, couldn't believe it compared to London! Nice walk along coast into St. Ives, also had a good walk along Lands End cliffs." M. Stone Testimonial (Nov 2014)
It is such a fabulous apartment with an amazing view, and what with all the dvd's/binoculars/puzzles and games provided, you really don't need to spend a fortune by going out every night. Thanks to all at Carbis Bay Holidays for making everything so smooth and hassle free. The apartment was once again spotless." W. Lawler Testimonial (Oct 2014)
Dolphin Watch apartment was spotless, homely, well equipped and had the most spectacular views. To all of you in admin, thank you once again, as everything from booking to the standard of accommodation - was first class." J. & J. Hayes Testimonial (Sep 2014)
Most mornings were spent admiring our beautiful view across the bay and into St Ives. The Carbis Bay Team have been most helpful and I found booking the holiday simple, and any queries I had were answered swiftly and efficiently,we will certainly be booking with you again. We would highly recommend visits to St Michaels Mount and the Minack Theatre, where we had lovely lunches both days. The Eden Project was top of out list of places to visit and it didn't disappoint, but we are glad we got there as it opened as by 1pm the place was heaving." K Gooden Testimonial (Sep 2014)
Walks we enjoyed included going to Godrevy headland where seals might be spotted on occasions. Drive on the road from St Ives to St Just is very scenic and recommended by Cornwall guide for views of sea and sunset. The Black Rock restaurant at St Ives serves excellent quality food." P. Wong Testimonial (Aug 2014)
Cleanliness was to a very high standard, and there were nice little touches within, like the binoculars and the games/video's and dvd's. We loved it so much I have already booked a return visit in September." W. Lawlor Testimonial (Aug 2014)
The accommodation was good and very comfortable. We saw around 11 or 12 seals both from the apartment window and different places on the shore in St. Ives and Carbis Bay. I would recommend the seal sanctuary in Gweek for a good family day out and nothing can beat the Roskillies ice cream, its a really lovely place to go to for fudge, cream tea and ice cream." J. Hurry Testimonial (Jul 2014)
!! I have already recommended you to my boss who is considering booking his holiday with you. The website is simple to use, the booking process is just as easy, and the accommodation (Dolphin Watch) was simply amazing! I dont think the photos do it justice!! We are already working out when to come back. Cornwall is an amazing area, and you certainly seem to find the best locations!!" L. Mustafic Testimonial (Jul 2014)
The apartment was fabulous, great views over the bay (didn't see any dolphins but never mind!) It was very tidy, well decorated and comfortable, everything you needed - great bathroom and a very comfy bed! Having the towels as part of the package was a small detail but very nice touch, as was the use of the binoculars - for my sea gazing!" Y. Tompkins Testimonial (Jun 2014)
We have recommended your website and Dolphin Watch in particular to at least 5 friends already." J. Ead Testimonial (Jun 2014)
