Value for money (for the area) and comfortable accommodation. Well equipped and a very comfy bed. Decor a little tired in places and while on the whole clean, it may benefit from a deeper clean as the holiday season end nears.

Best things often come in small packages is an oft quoted saying. It comes true here at Baytree.
Although the cottage is compact, it is
beautifully equipped, comfortable, clean and cosy and proved the oerfect base to explore a lovely part of the world I've not discovered previously - despite being born and spending the first few months of my life here 60 years ago! Hopefully, I'll be back before another 60 years have passed....

Nice cosy cottage in a quiet village but good location to visit Colchester & surrounding area. Decor a little tired but everything you need & comfy bed. Best suited for just 2 adults tho

We were charmed by this little cottage. It was ideal for two people and beautifully equipped from a great bed to a box of matches and a candle! We were there of 4 days and reading the house book everybody who said and vowed to return. We are the same if we make it! The local pub is closed for a refurb but is on the up and only a few miles away is a most excellent substitute at Tolleshunt D'Arcy called the Queens Head. Terrific food. Mersea Island is an adventurous journey with the prospect of the Company. Shed for fantastically fresh fish from the same family as the Oyster bed owners. Do not let first impressions dampen your enthusiasm this is a good spot.

Overall an excellent, comfy and well equipped cottage.

Only downside, although there is a sporadic bus service you have to drive to shops etc.
