It was so nice to leave the car on the drive and enjoy Castleton on foot. This area is crammed with places to explore and visit and we packed our week with walks, trips down various mines, a day at Chatsworth House, sampling Bakewell in Bakewell and just enjoying the stunning countryside the Peak District has to offer. Mrs Wood (March 2019)
Really cosy and welcoming.Spotlessly clean and had everything we could have wished for. Dr Kenyon (November 2018)
We had a fantastic time at hope cottage , clean, warm , well equipped a real home from home , well worth a silver gem award , we look forward to returning Mr Van Meerkerk (October 2018)
Great location and ideal fie walks in village local eateries etc. A very enjoyable week Mrs Houlston (October 2018)
Everything about the cottage was good, it had a cosy and warm atmosphere, everything so clean and facilities were good. If staying for a week it has its own drying room. The week we stayed the weather was overcast and cool but can imagine how lovely the garden area would be to sit in during warmer sunnier weather. Can understand why this cottage is so popular, and we would have no hesitation in returning. The village of Castleton is great place to explore the Peak District National Park and Castleton has all the facilities there to do that. We did lovely walks, including climbing Mam Tor and one walk between Castleton and Hope. Lots of good pubs to try with food very good. Mr Walsh (September 2018)
It is in a wonderful location and has all the comforts of home. Fiona the owner was very helpful and even provided a welcome pack. Just visit and enjoy. Mr Bodiam (August 2018)
Castleton is a lovely village with a great selection of pubs and coffee shops and well stocked local stores including a bakery. Hope Cottage was fantastic, very comfortable, pet friendly and provided a great base from which to explore the surrounding areas. The owners have thought of everything, a real home from home. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and our dog enjoyed the gravy bone treats! The best cottage we have ever stayed in! Highly recommended. Ms Dearing (July 2018)
The garden is a beautiful peaceful area in which to relax. Hard to imagine you’re in the centre of a village! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and u’m Sure we will be booking again in the future Mrs Miles (June 2018)
Superb sun trap garden, ideal for al fresco dining. Will definitely visit again. Mr Osborne (June 2018)
Dogs liked it too! Mr Goldsmith (May 2018)
Hope Cottage is in a great location just off the market place. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory and looking up at Peveril Castle on the hill above. Pubs, cafes, shops and attractions are within a short walking distance and we enjoyed being able to stroll out in the evening to have a drink or two and some tasty meals. The cottage itself is warm, cosy, beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and we appreciated the welcome hamper which had a few basics and also some lovely treats! The garden was safe and secure for our small dog who is a bit of a Houdini when it comes to getting out of gardens. We could let him out happy in the knowledge that he couldn’t escape. The owners were very friendly and helpful. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. David W (November 2017)
This is the best self catering cottage we have stayed in. The kitchen is well equipped even including kitchen scales. The cottage was spotless and the garden a dream (especially for little Fern our dog who loved exploring it). Everything had been thought of and a lovely hamper for arrival. Loved the idea of putting a roll of bin liners at the bottom of each bin so that you didn't have to look around for new ones. The conservatory was a delight to sit in and watch the birds. There were 5 adults and we never were short of hot water even when we showered one after the other. The weather could have been better but this didn't stop us enjoying ourselves. There were TVs in all the bedrooms and the living room. Castleton is a lovely small town plenty of places to eat where you can take a dog - we also found places for vegans to eat in the town. We loved it so much we have booked to go back next June. Gordon C (June 2017)
Superb 3 bed 5 person cottage. All facilities you could wish for. Centrally located in the village. Excellent dining conservatory and established garden with summer house. Dogs welcome. Lovely welcome box of goodies was a nice surprise. mikegrimes2016 (April 2017)
The welcome hamper was a nice touch. Mr Grimes (March 2017)
Can't fault it. All the little extra touches are much appreciated. We will be booking again next year. Mr Horsfield (March 2017)
Little extras from the owners made us feel very at home. Beautiful village. Close to everything to explore Mrs Shorten (February 2017)
Everything was thought of and we will be back, but it's booked up for many months ahead, which speaks for itself.! Mrs Sarjant (January 2017)
Have booked again for 2017. Mr Raynor (December 2016)
We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and have always found something that could be improved. With Hope Cottage we are struggling to find anything wrong. The cottage is warm, clean and incredibly well equipped. There are so many lovely little extras, wine, biscuits, milk, chocolate, tea and coffee in the kitchen and soap, shower gel, cotton buds, razor etc in the two bathrooms. The garden was safe for our dogs who appreciated the dog biscuits. Good to have parking in this village. Castleton is of course a lovely place, we were spoilt for choice for dog friendly pubs and cafes. We have already booked to come again. Many thanks to the owners. Sue H (November 2016)
The owners left a good welcome basket with some essentials plus a few treats. Great location for Castleton with plenty of walks on the doorstep. Customer 20
This is our second time in 2 months, we will definitely be back - a real gem in a lovely friendly village where dogs are very welcome. What a find :))) Customer 21
Cottage and location were perfect. Great walks from the doorstep, and Castleton is really picturesque with lots of dog friendly pubs and cafes. Customer 22
Just one little mention was about the recycling of rubbish as there was no mention about the collection and system in the information pack and we felt guilty putting it all in one bin. Customer 23
We would definitely recommend and will return in the future. Customer 24
Really cosy and welcoming.Spotlessly clean and had everything we could have wished for. The welcome pack was a a nice addition -especially the dog treats ! This was our second visit. Castleton is a lovely village and a great base to explore the Peak district. We have already booked our next visit to the cottage!! Customer 25
