Very happy with our holiday break. Was very happy with the cottage and made to feel very welcome. Beds extremely comfortable. Property very well presented and clean.
Mrs Price (November 2017)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was warm, comfortable and peaceful. We'd love to go back again. Would highly recommend it.
Mrs Dennis (February 2017)

Fantastic cottage in lovely area. Delighted to stay here with our dogs.
Mrs Carter from Killorglin (November 2016)

Downside was about a mile up a single lane farm track, completely dark after sunset. PAssing places were sparse and for any one who was nervous about reversing if another vehicle met tem it would be worrying..therwise it was delightful. SHeep in the garden one morning eating fallen apples. Soon moved on. Sky at night was so clear and free from pollution. Not a sound at night. COmfy beds and sitting room furniture.
Mr Harding from Bristol (October 2016)

A hairdryer would be a useful addition.
Mrs Howe from Bridgwater (October 2016)

A very enjoyable the owners were extremely helpful . Very quite location and the local area was very nice
Mrs Hill from New Quay (September 2016)

Mr Stanley from Westcliff-On-Sea (July 2016)

The cottage was spacious and light. Very comfortable and well equipped and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful.
Mrs Beard from Thame (June 2016)

In a quiet and peaceful setting and with very lovely owners of the farm. Had a perfect holiday.
Mrs Lott from Camberley (May 2016)

We have just returned from a long weekend here ..and can't wait to return!! ... what a wonderful place to stay! A well equipped cottage in the country on a working farm run by a lovely family who didn't mind us traipsing around whenever we wanted. Cows sheep chickens and ducks, trixie the dog and 3 cats.....and not forgetting the Bull. Situated within a short drive of Somerset and Devon with the gorgeous beaches and places of interest. The Admiral Hood public house also deserves a mention for its hospitality and wonderful food x
lilsmurf15 (November 2015)

The cottage was comfortable and cosy and the conservatory enabled us to enjoy the light evenings even if it was chilly outside. The cottage was easy to find and in a good location to explore.
Mrs Saunders from Gillingham (August 2015)

We stayed in Downhill Cottage for 7 great nights.Fabulous cottage, cosy and clean.Home from home.Private and quiet.Ducks and chickens run around. And cows off for milking.Great location too see Dorset.Great price for August, would cost a lot more for a tin can caravan.Would recommend to any one.Book now.
Paul S (August 2015)

A very comfortable cottage with everything you could need.
Ms Reilly from Egham (March 2015)

Peaceful and very private. It's what people that are from the city look for! Ideal! Tranquil.
Miss Chetty from Loughton (February 2015)

We stayed here for a week and had a cosy, comfortable stay, in what was (mostly) inclement weather. The cottage was clean, well-appointed and all ready for us. The open fire was really great (extra fuel available from owners) and it burned well, with a good chimney. We especially liked the two new and comfortable settees - each has built-in footrests (you press a lever and these appear individually - two on each settee) - a comfort we've never found before in a UK cottage. The TV is a new flat-screen of a good size - it was pleasant to watch TV by the open fire. The kitchen is equipped with all that we needed (we like to cook) and the spacious conservatory makes a good dining room. The beds are comfy and we had quiet nights. The stars on a clear night are wonderful. The owners live next-door and were helpful without being intrusive. We bought duck and chicken eggs from them - delicious eggs, as the birds run freely. Despite being next door, the cottage is quite private and quiet. We were visiting family in the area so didn't really have time to see the farm, but we enjoyed watching the cows coming to and from milking. A real rural gem!
patandliz50 (November 2014)

Set in the beautiful countryside where it is so peaceful and quiet. The cottage has everything you need. This is our second stay and we will book again next year.
Mrs Shrubb from Whitstable (August 2014)

The shared garden was great for the children. The sofas were very comfortable. The cottage smelled fresh and was clean when we arrived.
Mrs Moore from Bedford (July 2014)

It was a very nice cottage and was within driving range of a variety of activities. It was very nice to find we had complementary eggs from the owners that had been laid by their hens. We enjoyed watching the cows going to and from the fields daily.
Mr Jarman from Leicester (April 2014)

We liked the remote country location and the fact that it was on a working dairy farm. It was furnished as if it was a home not a rental property, a real home from home. The owners were so friendly and were there if needed. A real getaway to enjoy the peace of the countryside. The village pub served very good meals at reasonable prices, but book ahead for 'pie night'! If the chickens are laying,Emma can sell you free range eggs.
Mrs Butcher from Gillingham (March 2014)

Farm location great for children and quiet.
Mrs Gethings from Newark (October 2013)

Cottage was very well equipped, and the sun room was a real benefit. It really gave the feeling of space.
Mrs Woods from Ipswich (September 2013)

Ideal location, clean and fully equipped cottage. Ideal for a family holiday.
Mr Barton from Tenterden (September 2013)

Very spacious accommodation and friendly relaxed owners. Couldn't fault anything.
Mr Martin from Hastings (June 2013)

Friendly owners, beautiful garden and surroundings, peace and quiet, visiting animals and location - great places to visit. A very family friendly holiday.
Mrs Jeffers from Manchester (May 2013)

Friendly welcome, the owners were very helpful without being intrusive. Lovely farm animals and pets. Beautiful location, very peaceful.
Mrs Shrubb from Whitstable (May 2013)

We were made to feel very welcome and it was lovely to be able to see life on a working farm.
Mrs Holloway from Hatfield (April 2013)

The children had a lovely time and so did we.
Mrs Beal from Guildford (March 2013)

The cottage was fabulous, and the extra touches by the owners added to our whole experience.
Mrs Mciver from Buckingham (December 2012)

the cottage was beautiful everything you could possibly need and more. The owners and there children were lovely and we were left fresh eggs as a welcome gift which we thought was a lovely thought. peaceful and relaxing will definately be back in the summer. The weather wasnt great but hey it didnt spoil the holiday one bit still lots to do
A FlipKey verified reviewer (December 2012)

The peace and quiet of staying in the middle of nowhere. The friendliness of the owners. Being able to observe the dairy herd close up in the milking parlour as well as walking up the lane to the fields.
Mr Goodyear from Hornchurch (November 2012)

We thought the family were very welcoming and were thoughtful in providing toys for our children to play with. The cottage was an ideal size for two adults and 2 toddlers.
Mrs Hurren from Norwich (June 2012)

Tranquil surroundings. Well placed to visit many places. Friendly family.
Mr Bye from Battle (December 2011)

Lovely scenery and quiet location
Mr Prescott from Erith (August 2011)

This is our second time visiting this cottage, and we had another fantastic relaxing holiday, Emma and andrew are very welcoming. Our Children had a great time helping out on the farm with Millie and Edward. We will definitely be going back next year. The McCarthys (Twickenham)
A FlipKey verified reviewer (August 2011)

We had a fantastic time. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be going back.
Mrs McCarthy from Twickenham (May 2011)

The kids loved the use of the shared garden with its toys and play equipment, and playing with the owner's children.
Mr Hill from St. Albans (April 2011)

We absolutely loved every minute of staying at the holiday cottage. It was extremely cosy and warm. We arrived and everything was ready for us, it was a little squeeze getting our Vectra Estate in the drive way, but once we got used to it and found a knack of parking, it was a breeze! We walked into the cottage and there were fresh eggs, homemade raspberry jam and milk waiting for us. Also, we stayed over the Valentines week and the owner had left us a heart shaped box of chocolates, how lovely and they were very delish!! The whole of the cottage was lovely and warm and there was a thermostat, so we had complete control over the heating, which was brilliant! The bedrooms were brilliant, expecially the main double room, lovely and comfy! Due to it being on a farm out in the sticks, it was lovely and dark at night. The bathroom was great, the bath a little on the small size, but this wan't a problem for me and my husband as we are only small, but a can imagine that larger families may find this a struggle. The downstairs toilet is great, in the same room as the washing machine, which I thought was a brill idea. The conservatory was a little cold, but we did holiday in February, but when the sun hit it, it was lovely and warm. The wildlife was amazing, plenty of photo opportunities!! The first night we saw two badgers playing the field across, when we were looking out of the bedroom window. The sofas were exremely comfy and the real fire was brilliant. The remote didn't work properly with the TV, but we didn't go on holiday to watch TV and it didn't hurt us to get up once in a while to turn the channel over. You can also hear birds really loudly in the living room from the fireplace, they must sit on the chimney, this was lovely to listen to. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped. Nearly everything you could want, only thing I found missing was a garic crusher, but thats me being fussy! The oven worked brilliantly and also the hob. The fridge/freezer is a great size for the week, we filled it to the brim, but thats only because we didn't go out to eat at all and I cook everything from scratch. The dog felt really at home, they even provide a little dog bed, this was too small for our doggy, as we have a lab/collie cross, but we brought ours along anyway. This is a lovely and very special holiday cottage!! We will definately be visiting again!!
JenKev3704 (February 2011)

Stayed at Downside in November when it was very cold (outside) but really warm inside. The owners were very friendly and helpful, the animals (and birds) a delight, and the cottage the best equipped self catering we have ever stayed in.
Ninian Millar (January 2011)

Everything you need for a good stay was there. The villages around are very nice, like Crewkerne and Yeovil. Landscape is beautiful and the people of the farm are very kind.
Mr Dalebout from 4311 Nl Bruinisse (December 2010)

It was probably the best equipped holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. It had everything we could possibly need including really sharp kitchen knives! The hosts were delightful people and very helpful.
Mr Millar from Oslo (November 2010)

The friendliness of the owners and the welcoming goodies left for us - milk, delicious jam and eggs. Peace and quiet. The property was very well situated for our restful needs - wouldn't have known there were 100 cows nearby!
Mrs Bristow from Addlestone (October 2010)

Lovely, cosy farm cottage in beautiful, quiet location. Great play area and toys in garden. Friendly Owners.
Miss Milnes from Tonbridge (August 2010)

The property was a real home from home, in a great location for getting out and about and close to Beaminster and Crewkerne where there are local shops, restaurants and pubs. The farm is in a beautiful location and the owners are very welcoming. We love Dorset.
Mr & Mrs Taylor from Bromley (June 2010)

The peace & quiet! It was lovely being next to a working farm & hearing the animals but no traffic!
Mrs Shearer from Northolt (June 2010)

It was an idillic retreat which we needed desperately after a terrible year. The cottage was very secluded with only the family and farm animals to keep us company. The interior was like a home from home with every possible amenity provided, including the coal fire. The small touch of the fresh flowers on our arrival started off a relaxing peacefull week.
