We've just returned from a week in this idyllic cottage. Everything you could wish for was provided. Very comfortable and clean too. Lovely friendly owners and stunning scenery. A bonus for me were the horses. Cost me 2 bags of carrots! By end of the week they trotted over when they saw me. If you want to explore this beautiful part of the world and need a romantic hideaway for 2 then look no further. Karyn R (October 2017)
If you like peace and quiet, this cottage is ideal.Very pleasant hosts. Wonderful. Mr Walker (July 2017)
Very quiet location, clean and well equipped property for a relaxing break.Beautiful and historical area of Wales. Mr Hughes (July 2017)
The owners of the cottage are really nice people. They made you very welcome. We needed a very relaxing holiday and this was the ideal place. If you like wild life , horse's and piece and quiet this cottage I would recommend Mrs Brown (June 2017)
The friendliness of our hosts was brilliant. Not intrusive, but very helpful and kind. The area is brilliant and lots to do and see. The cottage was the ideal place to chill and relax. Mrs Hext (March 2017)
Cottage was lovely, warm and cosy. Everything to be desired was there as promised. A pity i couldn't spend more time there. We usually holiday with our Grand children so if we book it again it would have to be for the two of us again, but it's a lovely peaceful location and supurp eateries nearby. Mrs Bird (February 2017)
Had a really lovely break in the cost little cottage. Will definitely use Sykes/ return there too Mr Keetch from Cardiff (December 2016)
Very helpful and friendly hosts. Lots to do and see around the area. Mr Viotto from Gillingham (August 2016)
Coed-y-Gelli was a spacious, single storey cottage and very well equipped. The owners were friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for exploring the area which is outstandingly beautiful. Highly recommended. Mrs Quinney from Kettering (July 2016)
Our stay was perfect. We could not ask for more. A wonderful location with delightful and comfortable accommodation and hospitable but not intrusive owners. We will certainly visit again. Mrs Guy from Nassau (May 2016)
The cottage was the perfect base to go off and explore the local area. The fireplace in the cottage was great for the slightly colder evenings. The stud farm was really idyllic and having the horses and foals right next to the cottage was a real highlight for a horse lover like myself. Had a really wonderful time and would certainly return for another holiday. Miss Gill from St. Albans (April 2016)
Absolutely fabulous - faultless. Mrs Langlois from Bournemouth (December 2015)
I had not realised this was on Trip Advisor so I wanted to say that we were well looked after and that it was a very comfortable cottage to rent: a VERY comfortable four poster. We were well welcomed and then simply left to crack on and explore the area ( which we certainly did). It was very economical too and I would certainly come again R N (November 2015)
The whole package was great from the location which is rural yet within easy reach of any number of large and small towns. The people who run the cottage were great and made us feel at home. Great to see the horses up close and the number of pheasant running wild were too many to count. We will certainly go back. Mr Mcmurray from Wolverhampton (October 2015)
It was in a word "Heavenly." In beautiful and tranquil surroundings, with forest walk a few yards down the track. Would have no hesitation in recommending. Mr Mellows-facer from Preston (September 2015)
We loved every moment. The cottage was perfect, and our hosts were so hospitable. We plan to return. Mrs Guy (August 2015)

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location Ms Johnson from Newport (October 2014)
Our hosts were welcoming but not obtrusive. The accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped. The location strikes a good balance between rural seclusion and easy access to towns and facilities. Fred31771 (September 2014)
My partner and I have just come back from 5 relaxing days and nights from this beautiful abode. The owners Mervyn and Zoe were more than helpful with anything we needed which was mainly wood for the log burner. It was very clean and homely inside. It was very peaceful and quiet. We will definitely be making it an annual or 6 monthly trip there! Lovely sights travelling up there and around the area. Lovely views from the cottage and of the horses on site. We ate at some lovely places near by which are a 10 minute drive away. There's plenty to see and do and Cardiff is only 45 minutes away. Fantastic break, just what we needed. Thanks again for the hospitality Mervyn and Zoe. Lisa H (August 2014)
The proximity of the stud farm and opportunity to watch horses, pheasants and rabbits. Walks in the adjacent woodland. It was well set away from the road, quiet yet good access to places of interest and beauty. Good shopping not too far away and owners were approachable but not obtrusive. Mr Trethewey from La Chapelle Caro (June 2014)
Everything was just lovely - the location was very relaxing, quiet and peaceful and our hosts were really friendly, obliging and helpful. We found local attractions and villages easy to access and there were some great pubs within a short distance. Highly recommended. Mr Elliott from Taree (June 2014)
The cottage was in an idyllic rural location and the owners were friendly and approachable. Mr Dawson from Lymm (June 2014)
The cottage was clean and welcoming when we arrived. We had a lovely stay and felt very much at home there. Mrs Beardsmore from Pinxton (May 2014)
This was a lovely, rural retreat in a beautiful part of South Wales. The owner was most obliging and friendly, and helped to make our stay at the cottage very memorable by ensuring that we had all that we needed to make us comfortable. Mr Carter, Sheffield, October 2013 (NB. This is a copy of the review that I posted and which appears on the Sykes Cottages website.) A FlipKey verified reviewer (January 2014)
This was the best cottage we have stayed in, very spacious, home from home and very cosy. The family were very welcoming, not intrusive and helpful. Lovely setting, private and quiet. A superb break, and would definitely return. Mrs Button from Faversham (October 2013)
This was a lovely, rural retreat in a beautiful part of South Wales. The owner was most obliging and friendly, and helped to make our stay at the cottage very memorable by ensuring that we had all that we needed to make us comfortable. Mr Carter from Sheffield (October 2013)
Zoe & Mervin were very friendly and could always spare time despite their very busy schedule, making us feel totally welcomed. The setting was great and the horses a joy - and only one fly made it into the property despite open doors and windows. The pot flowers around the yard were beautiful. Plenty of soft cushions for weary backs at the end of a day's walking, and radiators to dry wet clothes over. A garden just for us and sun-loungers were provided. Good roads for travel to Wye Valley & Forest of Dean as well as the Brecon Beacons. Bryan F (October 2013)
Excellent accommodation, spacious clean and welcoming, with an exceptionally comfortable bed, best ever sleep we have had. Friendly welcome hosts, very approachable. Nice garden outlook beyond entrance. Sat nav. only available to edge of village, but people very helpful to give directions. Have no doubts we shall return again. I would add that we are both disabled pensioners 82 and 90 yrs.old, although not in wheelchairs. Rashley33 (September 2013)
If you want tranquility and to get away from it all in Wales this is the place for you. We stayed in this cottage for a week and really enjoyed the peaceful rural location. Only about 6 miles from Abergavenny and lots of attractions like Raglan Castle and the Brecon Beacons this place is very well situated. Abergavenny is a lovely town and only 35 miles from Cardiff. The cottage is located on a horse stud farm where Zoe and Mervin run around 40 thoroughbred horses. The cottage is spacious and is very well equipped. The only thing I would suggest to make it absolutely perfect would be WiFi. Thoroughly recommended. DavidPAdelaide (August 2013)
Secluded, private and peaceful. Comfortable and homely furnishing, nice private garden to sit out and eat. Good base to explore the Wye Valley and surrounding areas. Mrs Moon from Crawley (July 2013)

Beautiful and peaceful location. We spent hours in the beautifully kept and extremely spacious garden, it was a real paradise. Heating worked well so we were always snug and warm. By the end of our week we felt so at home that we could have stayed forever, stunning. Mr Jones from Rochester (September 2012)

Coed y Gelli was extremely cosy and comfortable, perfect for relaxing. Sykes Cottages were very helpful. Miss Peters from Stratford-Upon-Avon (March 2011)
We spent the week staying at this cottage, as we have family nearby, and also had a wish list of attractions that we wanted to see. We received a warm welcome from the owner on arrival, and were delighted with the cottage. It had all the comforts of home and that touch of luxury that we were looking for. We ate at local restaurants - the Cripple Creek is a must! Coed Y Gelli is an ideal getaway retreat, surrounded by open countryside and within a working stable it is perfect for countryside enthusiasts, together with luxury for any townies! Would definately recommend. Kate#&39;n#&39;Dave (November 2010)
Beautiful rural location in the Welsh countryside, situated on a stud farm. Lovely spacious cottage with a wood-burner. Mr King from Maidstone (September 2010)
The cottage was lovely and the owners were very welcoming. The setting was very tranquil and relaxing. Lots of information about local places of interest. Mrs Shoebridge from Saffron Walden (August 2010)
Lovely location, unusual setting and not far to travel to places of interest, had some glorious days out and lots of local food producers. Market in Abergaveny is a must as is the canal walk in Brecon. Mr James from Darlington (June 2010)
Cottage was well presented, clean and well equipped. This was also very good value. The bedroom is huge and the four poster really comfortable. The woodburner was much appreciated with the snow we had! Lots of towels were provided! A FlipKey verified reviewer (April 2010)
Owner was very nice and helpful. The cottage was amazing, very clean and well set out. The location was stunning with horses in the surrounding fields. Was a bit disappointed that there was no DVD player when it was stated tehre was one,but other than that everything else was better than expected. Fire place was beautiful and well stocked. Would go there again as the cottage is perfect for couples looking for a relaxing holiday. A FlipKey verified reviewer (January 2010)
