Lovely couple beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting - highly recommended
Ms Macinnes (August 2017)

Great location for birds and wildlife. Perfectly placed for exploring the Dales with excellent walks within easy reach. Trish and Chris were great hosts, ready with good advice and information about the local area.
Mr Martin (June 2017)

This is a fabulous cottage in an idyllic setting. All the basic necessities were provided as well as milk and a bottle of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, walking our dog and appreciating the scenery. We look forward to returning
Mr Colclough (May 2017)

Location was perfect, the cottage could not be any better, the hosts were lovely people and could not be more helpful. The whole area was perfect for relaxing and tranquil holiday. We cannot wait to go again.
Mr Woodrow (May 2017)

The hosts were amazing. The cottage was perfect. Location couldn't be better I struggle with your app constantly boots me off on the iPhone or iPad
Mrs Wood (April 2017)

The cottage is in a great location, with quick access to local walks, the Dales and the Lakes district. Kirkby-Stephen is close, with good shopping, dining, and support for outdoor adventurers. The owner is polite, helpful and unobtrusive. The cottage is reasonably well equipped, roomy, and very well heated throughout with in-floor heating. The King-size bed is very comfortable. The WiFi is terrible - it only works 50% of the time and tends to be intermittent, making it often impossible to check emails or use Google maps/Earth. We found internet connectivity improved if used in the kitchen, suggesting that the router is located too far from the cottage. Otherwise, we had a great week there and would certainly return.
Mr Brown from Invergowrie (November 2016)

Stayed for a week in this beautiful and well appointed cottage and had an absolutely great stay in every way. Each of the 4 rooms are clean and decorated in a modern way and it is really cosy with great views across local fields and to the hills. The kitchen has stone floors but as all rooms are equipped with underfloor heating it is a great place to cook and eat. Well equipped it has everything you could ask for for a really comfortable stay including clothes washer and dryer. The sitting room is the main room and has a large table and sofas. It also comes with a good range of books, DVD's and CDs. The bedroom has a large twin bed that is pushed together. it is slightly cooler than the other rooms but this was most welcome. The bathroom is small and well decorated. Outside to the rear is a small private and enclosed yard with seating and table. You also have access to the larger grassed garden but we did not need this. With parking at the front the cottage is in a beautiful area that provides great access to the Dales, Lakes and Scottish borders. We had one problem with the toilet ( that was our fault) and this was repaired within hours.
Gary W (August 2016)

The Cottage was the perfect place for a quiet, simple break from city life. It was idyllically located, well equipped and comfortable. The owners were incredibly helpful and the surrounding area was beautiful. We would love to go back!
Mr Buttenshaw from London (June 2016)

Cherry Tree was really peaceful and out of the way yet a short drive away from the town and Lake Windermere. The owners were extremely friendly, the house was spotless and we couldn't have asked for any better.
Mr Fidlin from Grimsby (February 2016)

Welcoming greeting just after arrival, easy to find after speaking to the owner. General décor of the cottage is lovely, very spacious! Underfloor heating, easily controllable and affective when needed. Amenities more than satisfactory. the cleanliness of the cottage was spotless. Perfect stay.
Mr Chance from Hemel Hempstead (October 2015)

The cottage was cosy and relaxing, the sofas were very comfortable. Well situated for all areas.
Mrs Jamieson from Driffield (September 2015)

Brilliant cottage, very spacious for a one bed. Warm and cozy, nice unobtrusive hosts. Great value and well equipped/ furnished for the money. The cottage is in a quiet rural location , a central base for exploring the Cumbrian Lakes, Yorkshire and Durham dales. Car essential.
RichLasPalmas (March 2015)

My partner booked the cottage through Sykes. It was advertised as pet friendly so we checked that we could take our cat. Following confirmation that this was fine, we packed ourselves and our cat up, and were merrily on our way. The cottage is situated just outside the hamlet of Soulby, near Kirkby Stephen. The owner gave us directions otherwise we may have not found it ourselves. The location provides an easy starting point for getting to Keswick and Penrith. Cherry Tree Cottage was simply gorgeous. The décor is tasteful and in keeping with the style of the cottage. Tea, coffee, sugar etc, and towels were provided. As was a bottle of wine for when we arrived and fresh milk. Lovely touches. It has underfloor heating, and extra bedding/throws. Even though we went in February, we didn't go cold. There is a vast number of maps and leaflets to peruse, which we made use of. Parking permits are also available for Cumbrian Council parking zones. For cosy nights in, there are numerous DVDs and videos to choose from, as well as Freeview TV. There is also an array of reading material, and an eclectic mix of music albums to listen to on the stereo. There is no Wi-Fi or internet access, that I knew of at least, but neither of us missed it. We wanted for nothing, and the cat enjoyed the trip too! A*
JeMLincoln (March 2015)

Fantastic cottage in a great location to explore the Lakes and Dales. Had friendly yet unobtrusive hosts. A cute cottage which was very good value for money.
Mr Smith from London (February 2015)

In a wonderful location and well decorated and presented. It was a beautiful little cottage with character and charm. Kirkby Stephen nearby was very convenient and had all necessary amenities. We will definitely visit again!
Mr Dalal from Birmingham (October 2014)

Cherry Tree Cottage was totally right for our requirements of a stress free ,relaxing holiday . The cottage is ideally placed between the Dales and the Lakes and the owner is a really nice guy . Superb .
Mr Bacon from Bury St. Edmunds (September 2014)

Very warm welcome by the Owner. Nice quiet surroundings and peaceful - well situated for both the Lakes and the Dales.
Mr Sharp from Hull (May 2014)

Cherry Tree is a lovely cottage. The peaceful location and amazing views made this a fantastic few days. We will definitely book again.
Mr Upton from Manchester (April 2014)

Very nice cottage, would go back again, helpful owner would recommend this cottage to friends
Mr Gray from Driffield (April 2014)

The cottage was in excellent condition. Very warm and comfortable, the location was perfect for us as we have a dog and were able to go for idyllic walks. The outside space was ideal. We would love to visit there again and would recommend it to friends and family.
Mrs Heron from Liverpool (February 2014)

Peaceful, beautiful surroundings. The owners were very welcoming. A bottle of wine and a jug of fresh milk was left in the cottage for us and lots of tourist information, books, cd's and films..
Ms Quigley from Bury (January 2014)

The peace and quiet was just relaxing. The owners couldn't be more hospitable. Overall lovely; just what we needed!
Ms Medcalf from Manchester (December 2013)

The owners were great, being there if needed but otherwise unobtrusive. The cottage was nice and warm and cosy, so good in bad weather. We loved the area where the cottage was situated, as it was peaceful and scenic.
Mrs Monaghan from Skipton (December 2013)

Very friendly owners without being overbearing - Trish's baking is to die for. The accommodation was very spacious and comfortable. It is in an ideal loaction to visit Cumbria and Yorkshire especially the Settle - Carlisle railway. We will be back soon as we found it very hard to leave.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (December 2013)

The cottage is absolutely fantastic. A very high standard. It truly made our holiday. Hope to return one day.
Mr Gould from Lincoln (September 2013)

The owners were very pleasant. Eggs/milk/wine were waiting for us. They just let you get on with your holiday. A five star plus rating (excellent). The garden is enclosed, and perfect for children and dogs. The birds in the garden eating the nuts were lovely, also a woodpecker was eating the nuts, as well no sign of red squirrel, and yes the chickens like digestive biscuits.
Mr Griffiths from Doncaster (September 2013)

Mr Griffiths from Doncaster (September 2013)

The cottage is lovely, and the owner was friendly and helpful. It was furnished comfortably and was very clean and inviting. The welcome tray was fine, if you drink- which I don't, but I did enjoy the endless supply of eggs. There were books and magazines, so that I was never short of something to read, The countryside is lovely, and well worth looking at, and the local towns had interesting shops and cafes. The weather was fine, and not over-warm, but it didn't matter much as there was plenty to do indoors if necessary. There is a lovely little church in Soulby where I shared the service with people I had known a good number of years ago.The only thing that was disappointing was the lack of garden centres and antique shops, which I particularly like, but that had absolutely nothing to do with the cottage or its amenities.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (September 2013)

Our stay at Cherry Tree Cottage could not have been better. The cottage is everything we wanted, the surrounding areas are beautiful with plenty to see and do. The biggest compliment I can make is that we were gutted to be leaving but we will be booking up to go again.
Mr Smith from North Shields (July 2013)

Very good in all parts.
Mr Taylor from Ros-Shine (June 2013)

Cottage was excellent. Comfortable and cosy. Easy to visit places. Superb.
Mrs McConville from Lochgelly (March 2013)

It was a relaxing break and a warm, cosy place to stay.
Miss Fryer from Godalming (February 2013)

The cottage is warm, spacious and well-presented. It has everything you could possibly need for a great holiday - stunning views, lots of wildlife, a well-equipped kitchen, a comfy bed and one of the best collections of Dvds and books we have come across. What's more, the location is second to none - on one hand you have the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, on the other there is the stunning Lake District. We also found a number of lovely local walks in and around Kirkby Stephen. In short, a walker's paradise! We will be back soon.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (October 2012)

The cottage is well appointed, comfortable and in a very quiet location, yet close enough to Kirkby Stephen for any shopping requirements. It's also well located for trips east into the Dales and west into the Northern Lakes.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (September 2012)

Secluded and quiet, but still well located for day trips to both the Dales and the Lakes.
Mr Hockney from Burntwood (June 2012)

Overall this property was cosy, warm and clean. Fab wild birds. Would be great for walkers and twitters!
Mr Atkinson from Beverley (June 2012)

Excellent location for walking and very helpful and friendly but not intrusive hosts. We would highly recommend this cottage.
Mrs Harvey from Sunderland (February 2012)

Great location for Lakes & Dales.
Mr Beard from Birchington (October 2011)

A relaxing and tranquil setting with lovely hosts.
Mr Done from Salford (September 2011)

Cherry Tree cottage is very welcoming and homely with everything you need and more. We have returned four times we love it so much.
Mrs Dibben from Wetherby (August 2011)

Lovely cottage in a great location and the owners where brilliant and so helpful. The pictures on the website don't do the cottage justice.
Mrs Dale from Newcastle Upon Tyne (July 2011)

The cottage was very comfortable and cosy. It was a lovely surprise to find such a lovely supply of tea, coffee, sugar and a large jug of milk, also a bottle of wine. We loved watching the woodpecker feeding.
Mrs Laud from Stockton-On-Tees (May 2011)

This is probably the best cottage we have ever stayed in. Clean, comfy and a warm welcome upon arrival. It was home-from-home.
Mr Rowbottom from Maidstone (May 2011)

Cherry Tree Cottage is in a peaceful and beautiful location, ideally situated for all tourist sites. The cottage was comfortable, a home from home. We would book again!
Mr Houghton from Willenhall (March 2011)

The location was excellent and a place where you can truly relax. The cooker was brilliant.
Mr Wadley from Birmingham (February 2011)

Excellent cottage, spotlessly clean. Perfect hosts with good knowledge of area, walks, places to visit.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (February 2011)

Cherry Tree Cottage is a delightfully peaceful place with pleasant, timeless views across fields and a stream. Good walking area. The cottage is immaculately clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We have been back three times.
Mrs Dibben from Wetherby (January 2011)

Stayed with my mum and boxer dog. The cottage had everything you needed to unwind and relax including stunning views, amazingly prolific birdlife, clear starlit skys a cosy welcoming environment. Kirkby Stephen a short drive away is great for walking and exploring.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (January 2011)

The owners are friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. The web pictures do not do it justice, it is spacious, comfortable and in a beautiful location. It is in easy reach of the lakes and easy drives into West Yorkshire. There is a good choice of pubs and restaurants within a few miles. Very impressed with our stay. The dog enjoyed it too.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (November 2010)

even took our cat. best place we have ever stayed atm and attitude first class. thoroughly nice genuine people with a cottage that reflects their good taste, and comprehensive knowledge of what any visitor could possibly require. faultless.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (July 2010)

A lovely, clean, well equiped, warm and cosy cottage with all of the basic essentials provided; this included a jug of milk and a bottle of wine. The cottage was within easy reach of the main roads making it simple to explore the local area or to travel further afield to the lakes, which were less than an hour away. The cottage was a calm oasis surrounded by fields full of sheep with their lambs gamboling, Ospreys and many other birds could be seen flying, and the bird feeder in the garden provided hours of entertainment; finches, tits, field mice and Great Spotted Woodpeckers were regular visitors.
