The holiday cottage was absolutely fantastic and almost certainly one of the very best we have ever stayed in.
Mr Reeson (October 2017)

My partner and I and our Dog Tyke had the most amazing time at this very special cottage. The workmanship that has gone into this cottage is to the highest standard. The owners are very welcoming and lovely to talk to. Wilfred and Parkin the donkeys are a bonus. Lovely orchard at the rear to sit in with a glass of wine and a good book. Private parking with lots of space. Five minute walk to the Rose and Crown, which is dog friendly with good food. A good base to explore Durham, Cumbria, Lake District, and Holy Island on the North East Coast. Wish we could have stayed longer and would highly recommend this warm comfortable cottage in this amazingly peaceful village. It fully deserves its Four star rating.
David O (September 2017)

A lovely extremely well equipped cottage run by very nice helpful people. We would love to return in summer.
Mr Clayton from Doncaster (November 2016)

Fantastic cottage with lovely hosts. Great eating pub in the village and the next two. Fantastic dog walking. What a great location. Can't wait to go back.

A lovely cottage in a very idyllic village location. Great access to local areas and walks. Dog friendly garden. We would definitely recommend Balkcote and would love to go back again.
Mrs Maxwell from Heathfield (September 2015)

We liked the peace and quite of the lovely village of Romaldkirk and the cottage setting. We loved the little cottage itself, it is cosy and quirky, spotlessly clean and fitted out to high standard. The owners were friendly and kind.
Mr Armitage from Ossett (July 2015)

Althoug living/dining arena not to big....very cosy. Bedroom and bathroom very nice....every thing we needed was there. Hosts are very friendly and helpfull. Loved the area, beautiful settings.
Trudy v (June 2015)

The whole package. It is in a fantastic location with the accommodation being just perfect for 2 and a dog.
Mr Downey from Carrickmacross (May 2015)

A well maintained lovely village location. A snug cottage in an Idyllic setting, it was extremely well equipped, with a lovely orchard garden to relax in. Had good links to many walks and was close to other towns. Would recommend this cottage for a super relaxing holiday.
Mrs Smith from Oxford (April 2015)

The accommodation was lovely, same as the location. We would definitely recommend to family and friends and will return at some point in the future.
Mrs Sylvester from Doncaster (March 2015)

"The village and surrounding areas are rural and peaceful. The owners were helpful and polite and the place itself was lovely. It was exactly what I wanted and would recommend it."
Mr Sharp from Manchester (March 2015)

The cottage had beautiful views over the countryside. It was very very cosy and warm, small but had everything needed. The central heating was very efficient, always plenty of hot water and most of all, a very comfy bed.
Mrs Marshall from Selby (November 2014)

The property was located in a wonderful village and was to a good finish and whilst small, was perfectly suitable for two people. The owners, were very welcoming. We enjoyed our week there and would recommend it as a good base for exploring the area and beyond, and would consider staying there again, if we were planning to explore the area further.
Mr Lord from Ashton Under Lyne (October 2014)

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a wonderful week staying here with our two dogs. The property is beautifully kept and is in a fantastic location, surrounded by walks and only one minute from a great pub (The Rose and Crown). We will definitely be returning!
Simm0124 (September 2014)

Lovely location, very friendly and helpful owners. Ideal for a relaxing break with lots to see and do.
Mr Davies from Lowestoft (August 2014)

The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings with a lovely garden. The property is a little on the small side but not enough to spoil our stay. The owners were extremely accommodating and gave us a really nice welcome. It is rather quiet there so we were able to fully relax and enjoy the surroundings. Barnard Castle nearby is a lovely town with lots to offer. We can recommend this very highly and would have no hesitation in going back there.
Mr Stretton from Loughborough (April 2014)

The owners were so friendly and welcoming. The garden was ideal for our energetic collie. It was set in a very peaceful village but well-placed to visit surrounding Dales etc.

We have booked before with Sykes, a very good service. We love the Yorkshire Dales lovely walks and peaceful. The people are very friendly. The holiday is also for my dog and she loved it too. Thank you.
Mrs Colenutt from Normanton (November 2012)

There was a variety of walks from the door. The cottages was spotless and ideal for two and a Labrador. The owner was helpful, telling us about where to walk our dog off lead and recommending good dog friendly country pubs.
Mr Bamforth from Barnsley (October 2012)

We had a wonderful time and the cottage was perfect for our needs. Our hosts helpful. The cottage was really well equipped.
Mrs Lean from Oxford (September 2012)

A very well-equipped and comfortable cottage with wonderful views and lovely outside space. Slightly inconvenient not having a 'permanent' table - the gate-leg table was not ideal, otherwise very comfortable and the owners were very helpful and friendly but not at all obtrusive. Village delightful with great food at the Rose and Crown. Thoroughly recommend this cottage.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (September 2012)

The location and cottage were really lovely, the owners whilst very friendly and welcoming are not 'in your face' and leave you free to come and go as you please. The cottage is excellently stocked and has everything you might need, including some very nice personal touches. Absolutely ideal for dog owners, so relaxing, would recommend to all.
Mr Richardson from London (May 2010)

It was a perfect cottage in an ideal Teeside village & an excellent centre for walking.
Mrs Edwards from Ludlow (May 2010)

Great cottage in lovely location.
Mr Gibbons from Chelmsford (April 2010)

Romaldskirk is a beautiful unspoilt village near Barnard Castle, Teesdale. The cottage was warm and welcoming, kitted out with everything you could possible need. I couldn't have asked for a better weeks break in October. I was researching my family tree and I found the local people freindly and helpful. Teesdale is a wonderful area for walking the scenery is stunning. I will definately be going back.
