Finkle cottage was a wonderful place to spend our honeymoon! the owners greeted us with a warm welcome, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The cottage is beautiful, well-appointed, private, and peaceful -- with breathtaking views of the outer hebrides, and all the comforts one would expect. The bedroom has plush linens and plenty of closet space, and the large bathroom has a separate shower stall, a soaking tub and a built-in hair dryer. The heated floors and wood stove make chilly nights extra romantic and comfy, and the stone patio is an ideal vantage point for taking in the spectacular sunsets. A short stroll across the property leads down to a sheltered beach, where we saw sea birds and even an otter. The location in hungladder is a great jumping-off point for exploring the island. The museum of island life is walking distance from the cottage and we enjoyed visiting the nearby ruins of duntulm castle, meeting the old man of storr, and experiencing the many moods of skye. We also loved having five adorable cow companions on the croft. Finkle cottage truly is a special retreat. We will definitely return! Janna from Meridian, Idaho (Usa) (26 May 2017)
Had a fantastic week at finkle cottage. the cottage was spotlessly clean, with all you could possibly need, including a lovely welcome pack which included fresh eggs, milk, lovely bread and a very welcome bottle of wine, also tea, coffee, condiments. The cottage is in quite a remote part of the island, single track road after uig, but perfectly placed for a relaxing holiday. 5 minutes took you over a field to the rocky shore. nice walks to the museum, the suterain, and camus mor jetty. beautiful sunsets every night we were there, lovely sitting outside with a glass of something looking over the minch towards lewis. stuart and judy were lovely and very friendly with lots of local knowledge. some highland cows in the adjoining field gave lots of photo opportunities, fell in love with murdo! would love to return to finkle cottage in this idyllic part of skye. Heather from Cowdenbeath (06 May 2017)
Finkle cottage is so warm and cosy with underfloor heating and a wood burner stove. it has the comfiest bed, top quality white bedding, a generous supply of super white towels, and is equipped to an exceptionally high standard. the owners also provide a 'welcome pack' of essentials such as milk, scottish butter, bread, new laid eggs and a chilled bottle of chardonnay. best of all, is the stunning view of the coast and outer hebrides (on a good day) from every window. a warm welcome, and peaceful, restful stay, is assured. Valerie from Harpenden (24 September 2016)
The owners were very welcoming. . the cottage was very comfortable and had great views but was more remote than we realised. it was also down a short but rutted unmade track which we were unaware of when booking. driving on it did damage the underside of the car. Nigel from Northmberland (18 June 2016)
Had a wonderful four days at finkle cottage, very warm welcome from owners, lovely setting and views, beautiful cottage, well furnished and equipped. would not hesitate to recommend. we would love to return sometime. Lynn from Taunton (14 May 2016)
Had a lovely 6 days here great location and lovely people who got the cottage ready at very short notice (2 hours) as we had to leave our first cottage due to not having any heating . Gordon from Scarborough (19 March 2016)
A great weekend break. Location is idyllic and owners are so friendly and accommodating. Cottage is well equipped and really comfortable. We really enjoyed the views and the wood stove in the lounge. Wifi would have been a bonus (in fairness we didn't ask if it was available) but we went to finkle cottage to escape and relax. We did that, and will certainly be going back. wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Johnny from York (09 November 2015)
Perfect for us. A great getaway. . stuart and judy are lovely and welcoming. Confirmed Guest (03 November 2015)
Great place to stay. Lovely surroundings and comfortable cottage. owners could not be more helpful. Hope to be back one day. Jo from Lambourn (10 October 2015)
A fantastic experience all-round. Cottage cosy, full of character and ideally equipped and the location and sea views from every window simply superb. The warm welcome we received from the owners was just lovely (even a bottle of wine and local butter and eggs in the fridge!); they couldn't have been friendlier and more attentive. Only one complaint: one week not nearly enough! Alison from Basel (03 October 2015)
Lovely cottage made our hoilday justr 1 thing the walk down to sea 2 bulls in crofts and calfs was told not to walk down there plus goes down very steep near sea thing you should take this walk of Margaret from Nottingham (12 September 2015)
Warm welcome, fantastic views, warm and cosy cottage. John from Hampshire (22 August 2015)
We had a lovely stay in finkle cottage for our honeymoon. Although fairly expensive, the cottage is a really special place, combining modern comfort (underfloor heating, well specced kitchen and atmospherically lit throughout) with the traditional feel of a crofter's cottage, which was rebuilt brick by brick close to the site of an original. Sea views from every window allow you to simply sit and watch the drama of a sunset over the outer hebridies which are visible on the horizon some 20 miles away. Although it's location on the very northern point of the trotternish peninsular means you will need to drive around a bit to get to the more dramatic landscapes of the cuillins etc, the drives in themselves are treats. Stuart and judy are the most welcoming of hosts, and it was lovely chatting to them and hearing their advice as to what can be done locally. Not-to-be-missed if staying at finkle cottage is the walk to rubha hunish, the northernmost point of the island, which we took on straight from the cottage door (approx. 5 hours, easy/boggy terrain with some scrambling if desired). . thank you very much for a lovely stay. Nick & katharine Nick from Winchester (08 August 2015)
Could not find fault. Gary from Cumbria (01 August 2015)
The time on the island was in part restful and refreshing. The cottage is what it is and the external area is part storage area for building materials and supplies for work in progress. The location is remote. The cottage does not have access to the fore shaw using a path or track. This claim in the agents description was a factor in choosing the cottage and it is wrong. Otherwise the overall standards of food and service at restaurants was poor. The bars are a long way from the cottage. Think about the practical issues of choosing a remote location. Graeme from Keighley (04 July 2015)
We had a wonderful holiday at finkle cottage. Joerg from Frankfurt (28 March 2015)
This cottage was so lovely to stay in. It is perfect for a relaxed getaway. The furnishings and cleanliness was really nice. The cottage is also stocked with anything you'd need to cook with or use on your stay. Carolina from London (20 December 2014)
I would love to stay at finkle cottage again the only draw back was we only booked a week im already looking at times we can book up, but for 2 weeks next year. A very big thank you to stuart and judith perfect hosts. Adam from Watford Herts (27 September 2014)
