Very peaceful and quiet, comfortable lodge and plenty of wild life to watch. staff very friendly and helpful.
Betty from Lancashire (10 October 2016)

When booking I checked whether the lodge would be suitable to disabled clients and was assured it was fine. The lodge was situated on a steep slope, with car parking opposite. . no way was it suitable for my husband who has walking problems. During our stay we didn't see anyone from the site. . on arrival there was notification for the lodge on site window and key was left in door. No lighting outside the lodge so extremely dark when returning during the evening needed to leave an outside light on all day so that we could see when we returned.
Sonia from Swansea (30 September 2016)

We booked for a restful break in september. the lodge, gave us plenty of privacy and space to unwind. Loved it !!
Martin from Sutton Surrey (30 September 2016)

Lovely location both on site and locally. Clean and tidy property and owners came and made us welcomed as they were out when we arrived.
Paul from Weston S Mare (30 September 2016)

Lovely location, nice lodges, perfect get away.
Marianne from Manchester (26 September 2016)

As a non pet owner I could smell the animals throughout the lodge, it was lovely and quiet but I could smell the odour on the bed clothes. I am asked to rate primerose lodge but I am not sure we stayed in primrose lodge.
Jim (26 September 2016)

If you ask for accommodation thats wheelchair accessible then I think it's reasonable to expect that the shower is also suitable for someone disabled.
Andrew (23 September 2016)

Coin operated meters in lodges too expensive
Margaret from St Clears (23 September 2016)

First time we saw the staff was as we were packing the car! we had a doggy lodge so the non doggy ones may be ok. We felt dirty sitting on the furniture and in the end used our pic-nic blanket to sit on. The first night the beds were damp. This was in all 3 bedrooms, I assume this was because the lodge had not been used/aired. we did have a really nice break but these are basics and should not happen. There is a charge to take a dog presumable for ware and tear / extra cleaning I suggest that it should be used to replace the nasty furniture. The kitchen and bathroom were clean.
Tracey from Bristol (19 September 2016)

Very clean and uncluttered.great position in wood.very quiet and peaceful.wonderfull trips out with beautiful views.for a get away from it holiday,it's the business.
Keith from Crawley West Sussex (16 September 2016)

Overall good holiday , kids loved it. Very quiet surrounding.
Lydia (02 September 2016)

It was lovely, difficult to find as there are no signs at all on the way and no phone signal. The setting is incredible and the lodge, although dated was reasonably clean and full of character. We settled in easily and the beds were comfortable. the photos on the site definitely don't do it justice. We were pleasantly surprised.
Melissa from Cardiff (02 September 2016)

Cabin was spacious but not as well presented as the photos had led us to expect. Tv wasn't working when we got there but it was sorted quickly. Hot water made a lot of noise - some plumming problem; then when a plummer came the water was cold so had to complain again. No plastic crockery - they had to buy some when we requested as they had none. Children and disabled customers often require such items to save breaking the crockery provided. On the upside, problems were rectified quickly once the staff alerted to them. Property was spotlessly clean and in a pleasant location, within driving distance of some fantastic attractions and beaches.
Emma from Staffordshire (29 August 2016)

Went bank holiday weekend so ended up paying double the price, was definately not worth the money
Jenna from Wales (29 August 2016)

Fantastic holiday definitely do it again soon
Mandy from Cannock Staffordshire (26 August 2016)

Loved the lodge and site it's set in the most beautiful surroundings filled with wildlife . lots to do in the surrounding area we went to tenby , carmarthen , swansea - where we visited the leisure centre and went to oakwood theme park also visited the wickedly welsh chocolate factory
Jennifer from Barrow In Furness (15 August 2016)

A beautiful lodge, very spacious with everything we needed. Staff very helpful and electric rate was brilliant, I thought it would be more. Close enough to shops and supermarket but still set in a tranquil location. Would definitely go again.
Catrin from Buckley (12 August 2016)

Great woodland retreat. Would recommend to friends. Friendly staff and fantastic countryside. Could do with large screen tv for lounge and tv reception not great. We still had a great week away.
Angela from Sittingbourne (05 August 2016)

The area is so quite and peaceful, it is well recomended
Maria from Sunderland (29 July 2016)

The lodge was comfortable and had everything needed for a week away. The site was very quiet and therefore perfect for a complete get away. There are many attractions within easy driving distance and some amazing scenery. A lovely family holiday.
Elizabeth from Telford (29 July 2016)

Our holiday was lovely, the site was well maintained without losing the feeling of being in the wild countryside. it was peaceful and very relaxing. the lodge was clean and comfortable. the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. we would all happily return and recommend the site to others.
Terri from East Preston, West Sussex (29 July 2016)

Lovely setting lovely lodge..perfect for walks with our dog who had a fab holiday to.
Michael from Caerphilly (22 July 2016)

We had a lovely stay at the lodges it was very comfortable & we made use of the sauna a few times, we found it to be ideal location for visiting places in south wales & would definitly stay there again if we choose to holiday in south wales again
Karen from Glasgow (09 July 2016)

Really nice lodge in beautiful surroundings, the staff were great and the village was lovely. A car is a must!
Michael from Liverpool (24 June 2016)

The lodges are of a very high standard we were disappointed as when we booked it said there was a jacuzzi. On arrival it was found to be a sauna instead. Apart from this the area was great and very quiet.
Roy from Helston (17 June 2016)

The site was lovely and quiet, very peaceful, although could benefit from having a small shop on site for milk and bread etc, as it's quite far from nearest town.
Deborah from Letchworth Garden City (03 June 2016)

Location more suited for people that want to relax and do nothing. there was no pool or bar on site. Also would have been cup ice for sauna to accommodate 6 people or more than two considering it would have cost a fortune in the metre. . also I respect of the cost for three nights more could have been available including staff upon arrival. didn't see staff member until next afternoon. nothing around the complex to do without having to travel out which is something we didn't really want to do every day.
Carol (30 May 2016)

The lodge was very dirty and we expected a clean comfortable place the the price paid.
Customer 28 from Basingstoke (23 May 2016)

Beautiful part of the country. Was made aware of improvement work being done by new owners before our trip. Looked at lodges being updated wow!. quiet, comfortable, clean and warm. We will come again with children and our dog. Ideal base for seeing wales.
Debra from Sevenoaks (23 May 2016)

Just two of us with 2 small dogs very roomy and comfortable clean and well equipped the jucusi bath was a pleasant supprise with we used a few times. Nice surrounding area with plenty to see and do will definitely be booking again
David from Upton, Wirral (16 May 2016)

Ideal surroundings, ideal location, excellent place to stay
Jon from West Oxon (14 May 2016)

Nicely decorated and equiped little lodge. We loved being in the remote woodland, amongst all the birds, squirels, and bats. Took birdfood with us, and saw loads of birdies very close up. Ideal for us, as no kids etc. Just the noise of birds tweeting. Lovely. . the wren is the smallest type of lodge, and seemed to be the only lodge on site where the outside deck aea was not covered and sheletered from the rain. This was the only signifcant issue we had, as we would have used the outsode deck more than we were able. Have already booked to go again, this time in a larger lodge with a covered deck. This place is close enough the the main road between carmarthen and tenby/pembs to make it an ideal base for visting places by car, but far enough away from civilisation to be a very quiet rural retreat. . didn't comment on staff helpfulness as didn't need them, and a notice in reception window directed us to our lodge on arrival, where our welcome pack awaited. The were no facilites to recieve segregated wastes (eg glass) on site, so we took our recyclables back home with us.
Steve from Swansea (13 May 2016)

Absolutely stunning surroundings. Friendly staff. Amazing value.
Daniel from Chorley (06 May 2016)

Lodges very nice beautiful location but you need the weather to get out and about. Would definitely retuning peaceful location and our dogs enjoyed and we're made to feel welcome.
Nicola from Carmarthen (02 May 2016)

Lovely holiday, very peaceful.
Kathryn (25 April 2016)

Perfect holiday. We will be returning next year
Lisa from Warminster (05 April 2016)

Very relaxing time, quiet but with enough to do if you wanted too. bed could have been better and tv a little larger than a portable but overall a great time was had.
Pat from Birmingham (28 March 2016)

Peacefull break away from it all, had amazing few days, staff so helpful
Philip (11 March 2016)

An excellent location. The lodges are really pleasant, spread well to give privacy and very cosy. the staff were very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our weekend. A new company had taken over and told us they were removing the coin electricity meters, but we didn't seem to use to much and had a lovely warm lodge.
Grace from Bristol (22 February 2016)

Fantastic holiday with my friend & our children would definitely go back & recommend to others
Sue (19 February 2016)

Lovely place to stay whirlpool bath dissapointing it's tiny would be nice to have jacuzzis and electric is very expensive other than that we had a great time and the staff was very friendly and helpful
Corey (15 February 2016)

We had a very pleasant time. This was the second time we visited the lodges and we will visit again
Patricia from Bath (13 February 2016)

Hi happy new year. It was not convenient with electricity and it was too wet inside, . bad smell of dampness even inside cupboards and wet linens. Thank you for helpfulness of stuff.
Nadya (30 December 2015)

Lovely lodges but unfortunately it was damp, beds and chairs damp, shower unpredictable cupboards felt like they needed a good clean, overall needs a bit of tlc. when we spoke to the owners they kept complaining about how much they disliked winter bookings!
Mandy (30 December 2015)

The sauna did not work. The electric was very expensive.
Leanne from Midsomer Norton (19 December 2015)

Nice and quite at the time I went .
Sally from Fordingbridge (24 November 2015)

Lovely lodges however no reply when we text a manager and you had to put money in for electric which was quite expensive. . . lovely area though and would return in summer.
Natasha from Neath (16 November 2015)

I enjoyed the lodge. I've stayed in many and ones far more expensive and this one is good value for money. Yes the deco could do with updating, the lodges aren't dirty (as many said) but it was very dusty (which is a problem for my chest). the dust is stuck to the walls and it is in need of a deep clean. I think a charge for wifi would be good as there was no service or 3g in the woodlands which made searching for activities in the area difficult. The lodge is set in a lovely woodlands but not many tracks so can become quite boring if your like me and trying different walks. Maybe a map of different walks in the area would be appreciated. The boiler is a pain. Two bathrooms but the boiler takes an hour to heat for one bath so if you have 6 of you, your all going to have to wait or share lol. The meter is not that bad, took around £5 a day (we visited in nov). the sauna was ok and the whirlpool isn't much to brag about to be honest. It's very noisy and quite unbearable. It's an ideal location if your visiting loads of places like folly farm etc as it's about 1/2 hr away and about 20 mins from carms. It's very relaxing there and I enjoyed the peace and the settings. There is need for simple improvements but I would return. I think some of these reviews were expecting bluestone and unfair reviews. It's a comfortable lodge in lovely settings if that's your thing. It sure is ours :)
Lorraine (16 November 2015)

Delightful setting for the get away from it all holiday. don't expect to do much on this holiday unless you are prepared to travel. the lodge is along narrow country lanes and you have to drive to get anywhere or do anything. st clairs is nearby (5 minutes) and has food shops, pubs, and places to eat, and the pembrokeshire coast is 15 minutes. be prepared to do nothing at all, or invest some time in the car. either way, the accommodation could not be faulted.
Glenn from Pontyclun (09 November 2015)

The location is lovely but I the accommodation is a little basic - the beds weren't very comfortable and the kitchen equipment was minimal (e.g. One set of cutlery and crockery per person; next spares)
Helen from Wantage (09 November 2015)

Thanks for everything. That was amazing.
Mukhran from London (31 October 2015)

Beautiful, peaceful location. Ideal for a short break away from everything.
Paul from Derby (30 October 2015)

Everything was great, apart from one rainy day and coin operated electricity was a pain.
Chris from Leyland (30 October 2015)

Lovely surrondings great little woodland area .
Karen from Kent (09 October 2015)

Delightful!, we were very pleased indeed with our decision, excellent location as a base for house hunting and lovely to come back to the sauna and the peace of the woodlands all round. Attractive walks, enjoyed the birdsong and glimpsed a couple of deer and a hedgehog in the early morning. It was very handy for picking up food etc in st cleers and we discovered a fabulous leisure centre nearby, all in a happy choice.
Flo from Bexhill (25 September 2015)

Disappointed with general cleanliness of the property - lack of maintenance lodge looking a bit tired - having to pay for electric via a meter disappointing in relation to the cost of the holiday already paid - staff on arrival friendly - location ideal for a quiet break.
Peter from Crewe (19 September 2015)

If you need to stay in the rat race when you go on holiday this is not for you. We love the peace and quiet, the absence of commercialism, having time to breathe and enjoy what is real in life. no traffic. no crowds. no gadgets. everything you need to relax quietly. . I heard a rumour that woodland lodges will soon be under new ownership and it worries me that they may ruin it by introducing everything that is not and should not be! I am making contingency plans and looking for an alternative. . . please don't spoil our retreat. . trish.
Patricia from Northampton (11 September 2015)

We had best time. The staff was very helpful. It was located at reasonably well location to travel where we wanted. Coop shop wasn't far. Overall one of the best experiences.
Waqas from Birmingham (31 August 2015)

The surroundings are idyllic. We stayed in a 6 berth lodge-primrose. At first look it is comfy and clean. It's big enough for 6 easily. The decor is dated, the cooking facilities are adequate. We spent a lot on electricityas it's a meter-this may have partly been due to the weather and we cooked everyday. . we also found that when we went to bed the bedding felt damp..it was very strange. There is no shower or mixer taps which was difficult when washing up as there is no dishwasher or washing machine in the lodge.
Confirmed Holidaymaker from Coventry (29 August 2015)

Overall very happy. The location was perfect if you want a quiet retreat but you can easierly get to a number of more public places witin 10mins
David from Bromsgrove (28 August 2015)

Generally very pleased with the lodge, a few things that need to be considered, which while not being huge issues could have made the stay even better:. . 1. Most similar lodges have dishwashers these days. . 2. Very strange to still be using a coin meter, why not just add £20 to £25 to the price and have a coin meter to control the sauna?. . 3. Television was too small for the size of the lounge area. . 4. Could do with a new shower - and if possible a large shower enclosure or at least a shower in the main bath room.
Roger from Yate (22 August 2015)

We really enjoyed our stay. It is a perfect location to explore south west wales 30 mins to 1 hours journey to all beaches, tourist spots etc. The cabin was a little dated and we did go mid august forba week so it was quite pricey. The sauna took a long time that to get to the right temperature and as the electricity was a coin meter we only used it twice. But, the electricity only cost £12 for 7 days, obviously would be more in winter with the heating. The staff were very helpful, replacing our dvd player with a brand new one when we informed them it was faulty. It was in the middle if no where and twenty minutes from a main supermarket, but a couple of shops within 5 minutes drive. All in all we loved it here and really didnt want to leave, we could have stayed another week if we could have done. Recommended
Robert from Hessle (17 August 2015)

The woodland lodges were set in a very peaceful and tranquil setting, with great walks and the pond. Unfortunately, when sold this holiday, I was told that the lodges were very close to the coast of tenby and saundersfoot. This was not true, and there was also nothing really to visit that was less than a 30 minute drive. We enjoyed the time at the lodge and built some great dens with the children, but spent far too much time commuting to get anywhere else. This was very tiring with two small children.
Jamie from Rochdale (15 August 2015)

Well equipped lodge in a lovely quite wooded area. Welcome pack was a lovely surprise
Candy from Rowley Regis (14 August 2015)

A lovely, peaceful area to stay. You do need a car but it's only a 5 min. Drive to st. Clears, where there's a spar, some take-always & a couple of pubs. Be prepared - there's not anything on site, just the lodges. So don't go with young children thinking there will be a shop, pool, club house, kids club or arcades because that's not the sort of place you'll be visiting. . you're in the woods, with a lovely woodland walk, a pond & picnic area. The peace & quiet is wonderful. The lodges are not squashed next door to each other, so you have a feeling of privacy. my children managed without wi-fi too!. tenby, saundersfoot & pendine sands were very close by. We also visited st. David's, but it rained heavily that day, so weren't there too long but it seemed a pretty place.
Karen from Bristol (07 August 2015)

Helpful staff bit too quiet and roadway needs some work, good location tho near to many places
Julie from Blyton, Lincolnshire (04 August 2015)

This is the second time we have stayed here, we use this as a base to travel up and down the south wales coast, the lodge was adequate for our needs (family of 5) we were disappointed about the cleanliness and needs a bit of modernisation but overall we loved it. If you are looking for piece and quiet this is the place to go.
Deborah from Wrexham North Wales (01 August 2015)

We had a great time, couldn't beat the peace and quiet, lovely area, great for the wildlife and all within less than an hours driving time to all the best beaches that wales has to offer.
Diane from Merthyr Tydfil (01 August 2015)

The area was lovely but the lodge was damp, smelly and dirty. We had no enclosed area for the toddlers to play and the steam room was . very small, you could fit 2 at the most.
Lee from Peterborough (01 August 2015)

Everything fine. A shower would have been better than a bath for us. Clean and comfortable. Very peaceful.
Pedr from Mold (25 July 2015)

We had a 4 night stay with our 3 children (12 ,4 and 8 months ). they enjoyed exploring the lovely woodland setting which the lodge is based in. the lodge was a perfect base for our needs as we had day trips every day. a40, local shops, take aways and pubs (savoy country inn very family friendly ) are a short drive (5-10mins). the lodge was clean, spacious and comfortable enough and had your basic equipment as expected although I did miss a shower. We didn't use the sauna (would have preferred a hot tub!) and didn't find the electric meter a problem. . our tv was small but adequate and we brought some dvds for the kids. The site owners were helpful and friendly. The welcome pack was unexpected and useful. As the july weather was a bit ropey we had to use the heaters some mornings to dry towels and take the chill off (especially with a baby) these worked fine. I would recommend this lodge to someone who just wanted a peaceful, basic comfortable base like we did but not if you want mod cons or any entertainment on site. it did make a refreshing change from the busy, well known holiday provider sites where we usually stay.
Customer 71 from Milton Keynes (24 July 2015)

Reception lodge was closed during the week. no one there - only a mobile number. I didn't think this was very good.
Jill from Boston, Lincolnshire (18 July 2015)

A very relaxing holiday in an ideal location, perfect for visiting beaches of west wales and days out anywhere. The accommodation was very spacious and perfect for one our party who is wheelchair dependant. . the staff helped us find this cabin and I cannot fault them for their time and effort that they gave us to make sure we had the space and wider doorways that we needed. The only issue I had with the cabin was even though it was extremely well equipped, it was in serious need of general updating. It would have made it more pleasing to the eye and more efficient, for example the very old non-fan assisted oven took an age to cook. I know not everyone will use the cooking facilities, but we did on night of arrival and it did put us off using them. Also, some new mattresses would be extremely beneficial.
Gail from Swanses (17 July 2015)

Lovely location, staff very helpful and our party all enjoyed themselves. Good base to work from on our trips. Weather wasn't great at start of week but that didn't stop our enjoyment!
Shane from Norwich (10 July 2015)

I booked the lodge for my sister and her husband for their honeymoon. They couldnt say enough good things about their break with woodland lodges.. they are definetly going to try and book again, and are trying to work it around myself and my girlfriend, so we can all go together.. thank you for making their marriage so special..:)
Clayton from Birmingham (27 June 2015)

Excellent place to stay and use as a base for exploring a beautiful area. The lodge had everything we needed and the wooded park area was very peaceful. We would recommend it.

It took a while to find woodlands the lodges looked lovely from the outside smelly on the inside, there was nothing to do within walking distance, the reception was hardly ever manned, I asked at reception why there was not even a small park to play on and was told that it was for health and safety reasons, if that's the case then why have a pond where children can potentially drown, the tables in the "picnic" area were full of bird muck and was badly maintained if ever. thank goodness we had a car and for the beautiful beach of tenby and surrounding areas. There are only so many times you can walk through the woods and go"pond dipping"

Good location, nice and quiet, everything clean and tidy.
Andy from Norfolk (29 May 2015)

We had a great week, helped by good weather. The woodland location was beautiful; the kids enjoyed building dens and spying newts in the pond. Lodge was lovely- spacious and well equipped. The electricity meter seemed reasonable, although we didn't need to use the heating the kids did use the sauna a couple of times.

Excellent place to stay. We've been looking for something alike for quite sometime, where stress and noisy environment are left behind, and your lodges do exactly this. We really enjoyed the week we have spent over. Thank you. Carlos & ana

We had a fantastic holiday at woodland lodges in april. After reading some negative reviews leading up to our holiday we were a bit worried, but everything was wonderful. The lodge was spacious, cosy and clean, fully equipped and in stunning surroundings. We had some gorgeous woodland walks which our two little boys loved. We spend most of our days on the beach in the sun at saundersfoot which is about 25 minutes away, but well worth the drive. We found some nice little pubs not too far away from the lodge in st clears. We had woodpeckers, various finches and other beautiful birds around our lodge all week, we also saw the resident owl. A fantastic week, friendly and helpful staff and great value for money. It cost £20 in pound coins for electric but this is what we were expecting, it was made clear from the beginning. We will return!

We had a fantastic holiday at woodland lodges in april. After reading some negative reviews leading up to our holiday we were a bit worried, but everything was wonderful. Fantastic holiday we had. The old couple staffs are really helpful and trusty .
Shuang from London (10 April 2015)

Very nice area, very quiet but disappointed about the outside space to unit, there was a lack of privacy. . the beds were extremely uncomfortable as the mattresses were lumpy and you could feel the springs.
Rachel from Cardiff (10 April 2015)

We had a fantastic short break here, admittedly helped by the weather. . the site offers peace and tranquility (shattered by our children) and is a good base from which to explore this lovely part of the world. But do note there's not much close by. Accommodation was comfortable and of good standard, better than I was expecting. Don't be put off by the coin meter for the electricity, we only put in about £7 monday-friday. I would happily recommend this site to others as a comfortable base and great value for money.

An excellant experience, we received a telephone call on the morning we were due to arrive to give us clear directions to find the site, also we were going to be arriving around 6.30pm so we were given a mobile number as it was out of office hours. the gentleman was their to greet us when we arrived at 6.00pm, very courteous, showed us to our lodge, excellant level of service. . we have stayed several times previous at cheddar woods, and once at pooley, bridge and now st clears, we have already been looking through the brochure to book others.

They lodges were clean but very dated. I did not like the fact that we already paid for the lodge and still had to pay for the electricity I feel it should of all been included as you would not have had heating if it weren't for yourself putting the £1 in. We went through £50 in three days!

The cabin was great value for money.we did think the electric meter was set a little to high. The mattresses were very thin and a bit uncomfortable, the shower needed servicing as we could not get hot water at all times. But on the whole a great location.just one thing that would be good to improve on, would be internet connection we needed to sit in car out side office to get connection.

Beautiful surroundings in a beautiful area, the staff are so helpful and welcoming
Michelle from Stourbridge Westmidlands (31 October 2014)

After an extremely stressful week, we arrived quite late. However, the lady who greeted us was so relaxed, helpful & friendly that we soon began to unwind. . . lodge was wonderful, in beautiful surroundings. Slight smell of damp, but absolutely spotlessly clean. All utensils provided in lodge and relatively cheap to provide electric - we spent around £6 in four days (weather was mild, but we cooked daily). mattress was a bit too hard for me and both my husband and I struggled to have a complex nights sleep (but this wouldn't put us off returning). . . all in all a beautiful place at very reasonable prices. . . .

We had a really good time, and this was the perfect base for us. The cabin was basic but very comfortable and has a sauna which was great after a days walking. The staff are very helpful and polite. It is a couple of mile to the nearest village which has a spar for all your day to day things, and there is easy access to the main routes to east and west pembrokeshire. The is a nice pub (the savoy) which is a 10 minute drive away and has 2 for 1 meals which are very good. Great beaches, coastal path, castles, wild life and stunning scenery (plus we had great weather for october).

Fantastic secluded location but within easy reach of local attractions and shops. Children loved the woodland location and were able to play safely within sight of the lodge. Will definitely be looking to stay again.
