Would not recommend this sitecomplete waste of money.caravan was dirty mouldy mess covered in dog hairs when your a non pet family it's not acceptable . never mind the holes in the floor and blood on the bathroom walls and mould everywhere
Sarah (30 October 2017)

Winchelsea sands is a very nice place to stay, however there was nothing for the kids. The entertainment was ok, but the amusements only had about 4 good machines. My little boy of 5 was board on the first night. There was nothing to do during the day. . . we stayed there for 4 nights and we only went out twice. . . there was hardly any street lights and there was no single lights along the paths. The only light you was getting was from the security lights on the caravan if you was lucky. . . the only good thing was the local co-op shop on site which was cheap if you was buying food and drink. . the following park should have more facilities for the kids and they should have a gift shop at least.
Daniel from Basildon (27 October 2017)

The caravan we booked was too dirty and dangerous for our health to stay in. Old bisquets under the bed and mould in the showercubicle. The kitchen worktop was broken, imagine all the bacteria, and the fridge was not clean. We complained and got offered another, wich was slightly better but not great. It smelled like there was smoked in and we had to make our own beds. No def not recommandable to friends and family. If I was in the position to have gone away I would have but after a long journey from holland with two kids we didn’t have the energy left to do so.
Vanja from Bergschenhoek (20 October 2017)

I didn't feel welcomed at all, the staff seemed disinterested in anything and didn't help at all. There was no help on where the caravan was or how to find it aswell as no street lighting which made things worse on a day that one of our party was seriously ill and having seizures being able to get from the car to the caravan after this was a nightmare, we told staff but they didn't care nor did they do anything about it and just said it will be sorted for next winter that is not good enough they should have done it for this winter, the site lacked a holiday atmosphere, the location of where it was was great it was near a shop and short stop to hastings and rye and canterbury was only an hour n half away we made the most of the week and spent it off camp in day and in caravan at night rather than stay on site, a little bit of a let down is that park holidays on all they're sites don't seem. To do any entertainment at all i've been different locations at different times of the year and still they do nothing except have a squirell and a bunny come out for children and bingo, that is not my kind of entertainment but I would go park holidays again just not that site
Sally from Sussex (16 October 2017)

Arrived - was not expected, they had no details of the booking, but from my confirmation details on my phone, they did sort out in just under and hour. The actual accommodation was dirty, smelt of dead dog, chairs/what carpet there was were covered in dog hair. Curtains had black mold throughout, cooker so greasy that we would not touch or use it if we could. Returned to office to advise, but they had closed. We were left with no option but to go to the shop (that was also not on the site) to buy cleaning products and clean it ourselves. We had arranged visits for 2 days that filled our time. But we left early on the 3rd day, advising staff of issues. They did advise that if we had returned to them, they would have offered alternatives, has advised we did on the day of arrival and our time was busy for two days. No I would not visit that site again!
Brian from Manchester (13 October 2017)

Acomadation was good could not get oven to work good area for walks close to every where
Barbnara from Tunbridge Wells (13 October 2017)

Boring nothing to do except bingo. Just because it was out of school holidays should have had some more entertainment for us older people
Neil from Margate (22 September 2017)

Just what we wanted. Limited facilities but what was there was good. Staff were friendly and helpful and food was good . cleanliness was excellent too!
David from Horsham (18 September 2017)

Parking near the mobile homes was very restrictive, but were lucky regards parking. We appreciate that mobile homes need to be moved from time to time, but to have them left haphazardly round the site makes it look like a building site. over a weekend a tractor and trailer were left adding problems to parking. the mobile home we were allocated was very good. after some heavy rain there was flooding. we were able to get to our car without wading through water, but others were not so lucky. all in all the site was very unsatisfactory
Christopher from Calne Wiltshire (16 September 2017)

Caravan well equipped, warm, clean and didn't smell.
Andrea from Peterborough (15 September 2017)

Park was quiet staff were polite and friendly all though getting to your caravan was difficult as what path ways there was were underwater
Mandy from Drybrook (15 September 2017)

Quiet site with warm pool . caravan had faulty lights and blinds didn't work . tea and coffee dear in the bar. Staff friendlyand helpful . lifeguards great with kids.
Caroline (04 September 2017)

The staff work hard and are very friendly. But the wasn't enough in the location a beach a shop and a pub. Still had a great holiday.
Marcus from London (01 September 2017)

Winchelsea was a nice area with towns just a short drive away but the beach was a big disappointment as it seemed to be grey mud rather than sand.
Nigel from Ditchingham, Sth-Norfolk (19 August 2017)

We had a lovely time with our family the beach was only in walking distance & the entertainment was fab couldn't of asked for more
Donna from Woolwich (18 August 2017)

Really like the site and the location . just a few issues with the rubbush bins as they were full and didnot appear to be emptied often. Staff very helpful. Many thanks
Paula from Preston (18 August 2017)

We were disappointed with the caravan which was not clean - our baby could not crawl on the floor because it was dirty with animal hair and general dirt. The seats were also dirty. The microwave was broken. The main bed collapsed after one night and when we complained they fixed it in a temporary fashion which failed again after another few nights. Luckily we were going home when it broke the second time. There was no drainage outside the caravan so when it rained we were surrounded by a pool of muddy water all around the outside of the van. There was nowhere to sit outside the van. The pool was overcrowded and too small and we got infections after swimming in it.
William (18 August 2017)

It was a nice, quiet place. We needed somewhere close to hastings and winchelsea is about 20 minutes drive. There isn't much to do in the area but it's easy to get to other places.
Rebecca (14 August 2017)

We had a brilliant time. Perfect restful environment, walking distance to a lovely beach and the co-op on your doorstep. Happy friendly staff and clean warm outdoor pool. We would love to return soon. Our dogs first experience of the seaside, she loved it too.
Clare from Oxford (07 August 2017)

Awful dirty accommodation. Had to be moved because of broken cooker. Moved to another dirty su substandard caravan. Left to go home 3 days early
Zerrin from Redhill (05 August 2017)

When we arrived it was pouring with rain, we were soaked by the time we unloaded - there was nowhere to hang our clothes just 1 coat hanger and a broken airer that you put out of the window. The caravan was for 6 - when I checked the cupboards there were 3 cups, 4 small plates, 5 dinner plates and 4 bowls. Not enough cutlery, nothing to cook anything in the oven. After ringing reception we were presented with 2 cups, cutlery & plates. The man said he owed us 1 cup! fridge had a disgusting smell of fish - which I had to thoroughly clean before using it. I had paid for the beds to be made up but they weren't. We were short on bedding ie 2 quits and 1 pillow. When we made the beds in the evening we found the bedding they sent round was too damp to put on the beds. The shower room, although clean, had not 1 shelf, hook or towel rail. when you consider 6 people are living in this holiday home for 1 week it could have had at least something you could put your towel on. I really was disappointed and although I paid for the week, we left on the wednesday. I won't be holidaying with you again.
Maureen from Canterbury (05 August 2017)

Inadequate children playground facilities, small swimming pools in contrast to amount of caravan
Martins (31 July 2017)

The caravan was clean and comfortable. Can find no faults!
Joan from Eastbourneâ (22 July 2017)

Okay if you want a adult night out, complete silence required during bingo, no good for families with small children. Owners of caravans who obviously reside over lengthy periods do not like children around, especially after 6pm. Play area not good for young children.
Elaine from Ipswich (14 July 2017)

The location of the caravan was awful. it was overlooking the bins and also dog waste bin. there was no broom of mop bucket to be able to clean up. I had to bend down and brush it with a handbrush which is not the best thing to do when one has a back problem. . outside of the caravan was just grey depressing stones not at all nice. I was surprised that there did not seem to be any area to be able to take dogs to do their business which meant walking out of the site every evening.
Pauline from Dagenham (14 July 2017)

Location for us was perfect however it was let down immensely by the caravan. I didn't expect too much as we took our dog but the caravan wasn't only old, with an awful lot of repairs needed, but it was filthy dirty and even had the previous occupants food in the cupboard. Security was poor as most of the window locks were broken and the pots and pans were old and rusty. The shower had black mould in too. . our daughter and granddaughter did use the pool for a short while which looked nice but we didn't use the clubhouse so unable to comment on that.
Jackie from Colchester (07 July 2017)

We enjoy ex our holiday ver y much, you holidaycamp was niche, only much to big.
Huub from Nijmegen Holland (16 June 2017)

No parking at all when we arrived at park so after a 5 hour journey not best pleased. Very basic amenities - club/restaurant and small pool. We only had a basic caravan as was just a place to sleep but the bathroom and fridge were really smelly. Lovely stretch of beach but nothing there. Spent all our time out sightseeing as nothing to keep you in the park entertainment wise. Staff very friendly.
Kim from Herts (03 June 2017)

Very peaceful time. that's what we went away for.
Patricia from Kent (20 May 2017)

Fab holiday, our little boy loved it. Pool is lovely and staff couldn't of been more helpful.
Liza from Watford (19 May 2017)

Happy with location and caravan, but site lacked any decent paths i.e. Only across grass that can get wet and muddy, and also insufficient parking close to our caravan.
Andrew from Barnstaple (15 May 2017)

Ok for a week end. The van was clean although they had forgotten to make our bed up as paid for. we couldn't ignite the oven so they had to buy a gas lighter for us. . . the static caravans were very close together and if you add noisy children and dogs into the mix it's hardly a peaceful site. . . good for a value for money weekend.
Keith (08 May 2017)

Lovely caravan park . had very nice clean caravan nothing needed all was good. Good location to get into rye town and very nice clean out door pool.
Sharon from Broadstairs Kent (08 May 2017)

Could make more of an effort maybe to clean decommissioned caravans as the first thing we saw was an old moss cover caravan green an nasty park was ok but a bit isolated for us but ok to get away from the norm
Steven from Teddington (08 May 2017)

We had a great time. We had the extra wide caravan and it was really nice. The only thing we missed was a place to hang our coats and towels.
Kristin from Kerkrade Netherlands (06 May 2017)

Although I got a great financial deal, myself and family enjoyed the stay.
Mark from Bungay (01 May 2017)

This was our first time to winchelsea sands and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, everyone was so friendly and helpful they really made us feel welcome. We will definitely be going back there again
Paula from London (17 April 2017)

We had a quiet break except for our caravan being opposite the workers yard and laundry, on our arrival the workmen sat in their van preventing us from parking, when we asked how long they would be before they could move the van, we were told, not sure, no idea,. after waiting for sometime I drove up to the end of the park and turned round managing to squeeze in from the other direction, this was made more difficult because of an electric box placed to one side of our parking area, every morning the tractors made a noise emptying the bins, the site has to be cleared but surely the yard could be positioned away from the guests. Once in our caravan the picture I was sent looked nothing like what I was seeing, the receptionist said they did not have such a caravan and that was not a picture of any on the site, I said the picture was on my booking form so that was what I was expecting. They blamed me for booking with hoseasons. After the first shock of not getting the caravan I was expecting, the one we had was very clean and spacious, the camp was well situated for local attractions but the caravans were very close together and we could hear our neighbours tv as well as their conversations.
Ann from Sittingbourne (14 April 2017)

Had a really good time the only complaint I have is lack of staff, the staff working are run ragged given it was easter break extra staff should have been laid on
Susan from Polegate (14 April 2017)

Winchelsea sands is one of our favourite holiday camps and although this holiday was marked by bad luck ( firstly our little dog passed away then our car breaking down on the second day and two weeks later we still haven't got it back) and rather noisy neighbours for a couple of nights, the staff were very helpful. The noisy neighbours were asked to leave and peace was restored and then donna and danielle came up trumps by extending our caravan stay for 4 days so my husband had a base in hope our car would be ready.. unfortunately it wasn't to be but it hasn't put us off... we'll be back!
Ruth from Oxfordshire (20 March 2017)

Great base for visiting nearby hastings and rye. Caravan was lovely, only thing was you can't park next to the caravans so abit of a walk for my disabled mum. Staff were helpful and we booked for next year before we left.
Helen from Surrey (20 March 2017)

We booked for one week, enjoyed our stay so stayed another week. Staff very helpful always smiling especially rose
David from Torpoint, Cornwall (18 March 2017)

The caravan was beautiful. That is quite frankly the only good thing I can say about the place. The local residents who use the clubhouse are loud rowdy and their children hang around in groups which is intimidating due to their bad language.
Amanda from Greenhithe (13 March 2017)

It was lovely and quite lots of things to see and do in the area would definitely come gain.
Samantha (17 September 2016)

Great location everything was just great
Philip (16 September 2016)

Only stayed 2 nights out of 7..! too much noise outside caravan, the first night there was talking until 5am. Caravans very close together and too noisy which unsettled the dog.
Natalie (16 September 2016)

A good sited park. Nice size and very friendly helpful staff.
Yvette from Hemel Hempstead (16 September 2016)

Our stay at winchelsea sands was as lovely as we expected it is close to home for us and set in an ideal location
Stephen from Gillingham Kent (12 September 2016)

Caravan was superb ,the restaurant was very good, fantastic holiday , cannot fault it, see you next year,
Maureen from Gillingham Kent (09 September 2016)

Very good value for money. We loved rye and the accommodation here was very clean, staff were helpful and friendly and the facilities were good
Nicky from Upminster (03 September 2016)

Apart from having to clean the caravan ourselves as it was filthy overall the holiday was great
Carol from Crawley (03 September 2016)

Loved holiday going back next year xxx
Valerie from Portsmouth (29 August 2016)

Lovely caravan pleasant site but need a car to get anywhere
Jayne from Dudley (26 August 2016)

Small but pleasant site. Kids enjoyed the toddler time each morning. Short walk to the (pebble) beach at winchelsea, short drive to camber sands. Enjoyed visits to hastings and rye.
Customer 54 from London (13 August 2016)

We had a lovely week visitng all the surrounding coastal resorts.
Gillian from Swindon (30 July 2016)

Lovely weekend with the kids, small enough site to just be very family orientated which is what we were looking for
Nicola from Crowborough (25 July 2016)

A thoroughly enjoyable stay among cheerful residents, staff and visitors. Will most certainly return
Gordon from Eastbourne (23 July 2016)

A good base to holiday, not much to do on camp, entertainment venue to small. Not worth the amount we played for the holiday. But we love rye and surrounding area
Steve from Southwater (23 July 2016)

Club house was shut one afternoon, hot food we ordered was served still half frozen. Caravan was dirty and surfaces was sticky.
Lee (17 June 2016)

I managed to get a midweek break away for under £100, so can't complain about value for money.
Tracy from Rochester, Kent (17 June 2016)

We enjoyed our stay at winchelsea sands very much. The staff were helpful and the caravan was clean and tidy. The park itself is very close to both rye and hastings, not to mention 1066 country so there's plenty to do. And the beach is very close to the park, in fact just a stroll away and if you have your dogs with you then you'll have no problems as it is dog friendly. The only down side to our holiday was on the friday when there was a weekend change over and the two caravans opposite us were taken by (supposedly the same family) but the 6 from one and the 6 from the other soon turned in to 20 by the time their visitors turned up and they were barbacueing and partying until 3am on both friday and saturday. But, this has not put us off, we enjoyed the park so much we will return.
Ruth from Bicester (13 June 2016)

Had an amazing time. Staff at reception helpful and friendly. bar and entertainment staff very welcoming. Thank you all xx
Patrick from Fleet (23 May 2016)

This unlovely park could benefit from a substantial injection of money. There is a distinct lack of greenery and flowerbeds or indeed anything that might give the site a degree of attractiveness. I've seen more landscaping in a tesco carpark -really. You're not allowed to park next to your caravan so be prepared to have to carry your luggage across what may well be a muddy and rutted field. Our caravan was surrounded by other caravans with absolutely no view whatsoever, unless you happen to enjoy watching all the seagulls. Entertainment on our first night consisted of having to listen to the occupants of a nearby caravan, presumably having spent a hard evening drinking in the club, conducting a loud voiced argument with their neighbours. On the plus side, the park is situated in a nice part of the country with an fine nature reserve only a short distance away, but I don't suppose many people would be interested in that.
Andrea from Yorkshire (20 May 2016)

The location is fabulous, and we preferred a smaller site. Going early on in the season we had no problem with parking near the caravan within the car park. On entering the caravan there were some crumbs & bits on the settee & floor which needed a bit of a sweep & hoover but it was very quickly remedied and the staff were more than helpful. Everywhere else was clean. All round a thoroughly enjoyable week and I would definitely book again. We booked last minute and got a good deal, so very good value for money.
Marlane from Poole (09 May 2016)

Okay but wouldn't go again. there are better sites.
William from Stratford Upon Avon (29 April 2016)

Builders woke us up every morning, with caravan shaking. When we spoke to office they just laughed it off.
Graham from Eastbourne (25 March 2016)

Good cheap family holiday great staff entertainment for kids good food could be better but ok for price well recomended
Sadie from Seaford (14 March 2016)

We had a wonderful 4 days here, everything was great, the caravan, location. The staff were awesome and very friendly.. the only thing I thought could improve was the size of the clubhouse could do with being bigger and more things for 11 year old to do.otherwise we had a perfect holiday.
Siobhan from London (02 November 2015)

It was a lovely area with lovely scenery but very challenging going out and about with 7 people, with no local railway station and keeping 3 teenagers and a lively 5 year old was challenging. facilities were limited. also we were led to believe that wifi was included but it wasn't. the accommodation was quite damp. the staff were very helpful. the beach was lovely. there wasn't a gift shop nearby.
Rodney from Edenbridge (30 October 2015)

Not being able to park your car at caravan to unpack car park and path to van very dark .
Jacky from Livingston (30 October 2015)

Only used as a base, as we went out all day. Didn't use the clubhouse as had a dog. Weather was great.
Michelle from Northampton (30 October 2015)

Handy for rye town. Everything we needed for a short break. Most enjoyable.
Ruth from Romney Marsh Kent. (26 October 2015)

We found the caravan wasn`t to clean and the ground round the vans was very muddy.
Margaret from Ruislip Middlesex (23 October 2015)

Nice place to be could do with paths to vans
Jon from Scunthorpe (23 October 2015)

Very good price and really friendly staff nice new clean static home . would go again
Wendy from Newhaven (16 October 2015)

Whole site was flooded. Car parking very limited. Caravan full of mildew.
Kelly from Norfolk (19 September 2015)

I had a disabled lady with us we had a distance to the car from the caravan there was dust on the cuboards rubbish under the cooker there was a large gap from bottom step to the ground causing trouble for the disabled lady.
Susan (14 September 2015)

Car parking could be a lot better
David from Market Harborough (12 September 2015)

A lovely holiday ,the beach was in easy reach and the shop was just a few yards away we will come again
Maureen from Gillingham Kent (12 September 2015)

Car parking could be a lot better
David from Market Harborough (12 September 2015)

I know you can't help the weather, but it was almost flooded and not much was done other than putting some boards down that really didn't do much. My shoes got ruined.

Unfortunately the site has not got a great deal to do and is very limited in activities, car parking and just general facilities. . it looks tired and needs some investment. . to top it off it rained for 5 days, completely out of the parks control, however we were flooded and surrounded by water and we did not see one staff member to help or assist in my opinion enough was not done quickly to resolve the flooding

We spent our holidays in winchelsea, we were there for two weeks and had a silver caravan. Everything was fine and clean, the staff was polite and helpful. We did not use the restaurant very often, only for a drink in the evening, because we are vegan. So we enjoyed cooking with the gas oven in our caravan. The park was nice and staff was cleaning it every morning. The gulls were crying every morning, but we really love this. There is a co-operative supermarket round the corner with everything for your daily needs. The beach is near and nice, but stony, we enjoyed to visit camber sands which is an amazing beach nearby. The surrounding is amazing, all the small villages with their ancient houses and churches.. all the gardens and the sea.. we visited eastbourne, brighton, seven sisters and beachy head, rye, canterbury, ashford.. we also spent three days in london. We can really recommend winchelsea beach for your stay!
Daniela from Bremen Germany (24 August 2015)

Lovely holiday park in beautiful surroundings the only downfall is entertainment is not really for teenagers and the pool shuts early at 5pm

I've been to lots of caravan holidays.at least 25years. the camp is nice. Parking though is horrendous. Not a lot on site for kids. Amusements in a tiny room and half time were not working and change machines empty. the day we arrived we went to restaurant, half what we ordered was sold out. There is not a lot in the area to do so a car is a must. I also went for silver caravan, usually we go bronze. beds were meant to be made up and weren't and was very small caravan for up to 6. No room!!!. apart from my small gripe it's a lovely area for walks, although hilly. But wouldn't advise with kids. They'd get easily bored.

The caravan we were allocated was very run down. Wallpaper was peeling off walls and windows didn't have locks on them. We did take a dog so didn't expect the ritz, but for the money we paid for 4 nights we were expecting more. The site was very clean and tidy. We don't have children so never tried the pool or entertainment but did eat breakfast in the club house one morning which was nice, if not a little overpriced but that's the norm for caravan sites. There wasn't a lot to do in the local area other then long walks along the beach. One pub next door, a coop and restaurant just down the road and that's really it without driving or getting a taxi. We made the best of what we had and enjoyed our self's but would not be going back. The night security guard and his dog were very friendly, always polite and willing to help.

Very nice park not to big
Terry (27 July 2015)

The caravans are so near to each other there is no privacy. We only stayed for a weekend and the site was ok for what we wanted but I would not go for a holiday.

Although this park is pet friendly people do not pick up the dog poo, the park was filthy and smelly as were the caravans. I had to buy bleach and clean thoroughly. The ground around each caravan was undulating and therefore a quick wiz with the lawn mower doesn't work. I realise the caravan park has recently been taken over by park holidays..but I would recommend not to book here for at least another 2 years..it needs to be closed down, all the old vans got rid of and the ground turned over. All the waste bins were full and smelly and were not emptied the week we stayed. The caravan we booked was classified as silver, if you are going on holiday here and have just booked upgrade now..but it will still be smelly. All the mattresses are very very old and lumpy, the furniture was faded and stained..disgusting and worst holiday ever. We will never go back. We are pensioners and could not park the car outside the caravan, we had to park in the car park and carry everything through long grass full of dog poo..

It is advertised as though you can see the sea, you cannot. it is a little walk away.

The car parking was dreadful. There were too many cars for the size of the car park, and if you were lucky enough to get a space, it was a nightmare to get into it and out of it. You couldn't park at the side of you van either, and where out van was, we couldn't sit outside because we were only about 3 feet from the from of the parked cars. We had a warm week and had to have to door open, and felt a bit like fish in a gols fish bowl as people parking and traversing the car park looked straight into our van.

All in all a good holiday. Have stayed here before and it has always been fine. The same recurring complaint though is the one of a serious lack of parking in peak seasons, and it is a shame to see the site has done nothing to address this issue. It was so bad this time that it might be the only factor putting me off holidaying there again. Apart from this, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the caravan excellent, and the location is great - very handy to so many attractions and beaches.
