Booked weekend for my self and kids paid good money and got caravan that stunk of dogs and honestly dog hair everywhere .this should be stated when booked we left early
Rodney from Inverkip (10 October 2016)

Mcdonald caravan we stayed in looked rather shabby and in serious need of refurbishment. Overall the caravan was outdated. Couch was absolutely filthy to the point where we couldn't even relax on it. On the plus side we had a great location where we could walk the dogs easily. I would return to this site as it is in a beautiful location. Also the staff were also very professional and friendly.
Miriam (26 September 2016)

Lovely clean and spacious park with very helpful staff and great views, ideally situated to explore the west coast and most other areas.
Daryl from Nuneaton (23 September 2016)

Had a great time.
Lynne from Glenrothes (12 September 2016)

Decent view over bay.not many facilities in weymiss bay but good base for touring the area. Caravan insurance for one week a bit expensive.
Eric from Near York (09 September 2016)

We had a great time at wemyys bay so much so we have rebooked for next year. Staff were very friendly location is great at the bottom of the hill there is a train station which takes you to glasgow central station and a ferry terminal which takes you to rothesy. Largs is about 15 mins drive away with supermarkets and high street. Caravan was lovely and clean on arrival had plenty of cutlery and crockery. Swimming pool is small but it was clean and had an amazing view over the bay. Childrens club was good but very noisy we have an autistic daughter and it was too loud we had to leave. The park is kept clean and well presented although very hilly which could be a problem for people with mobility problems. We are looking forward to next years visit.
Annette from Isle Of Sheppey (02 September 2016)

It was good value for money for our whole family. Really enjoyed. Used it as a base to explore all around.
Timmy (29 August 2016)

The caravan was dated shower cubical tiny, no wonder it at a crack in the back panel, (simply cant move in it) location was good, not much outside of the camp.
Carl from St.Helens Merseyside (29 August 2016)

Toilet seat was broken. Curtain rail was broken. . dirty plates and pans. Cooker was not working properly. My son couldn't play chess because no chess. My son couldn't play table tennis.
Ahmed (29 August 2016)

Caravan was lovely but the site wasn't great. . needs done up, for the money I would rather go to a site with better facilities. . entertainment complex was poor and needed done up/ modernised and it wasn't big enough. . access through site wasn't great for buggies, too hilly & road didn't feel safe. . pool was overcrowded although it was clean. . entertainment was poor, lots of hype for elephant coming out - she did one song and left.
Michael from Peterhead (15 August 2016)

Caravan was beautiful and immaculate. Site itself great, good access to largs and rothesay. Shame there's not much to do in area itself. The wee local beach could be doing with some upkeep.
Melanie from Cumbernauld (15 August 2016)

Like this site as location wise it is ideal to visit my son in glasgow and for him to spend some time with us. . . nice clubhouse with friendly staff and talented entertainment crew.
Stephen from Tamworth (13 August 2016)

The site is lovely and the caravan was absolutely beautiful. Couldn't have had a better holiday :-)
Joanna from Telford (12 August 2016)

We went to wemyss bay for my sons 6th birthday along with our 3 other children aged 2, 7 & 12. We were allocated our van macintosh ww were very pleased at the quality and cleanliness. However I was very disappointed when we went for a meal the smaller kids had pizza and smiley faces when the food arrived it was 3 smiley faces and a microwave pizza very poor value for money at the restaurant. The evening entertainment was fab and ideal as there is cash bingo during the early evening inbetween the kids disco and the starlanders perfect if you have little ones and aren't going to be out too late. The amusements area is very small and is quite run down, there also isn't very much for older children to do. The park was nice, swimming pool disappointing as it was really small. The onsite shop is closed very early and other than in the show bar and livingstones bar there isn't anywhere else to eat on site, the chinese along the road was lovely tho. Our little ones had a brilliant time. The only reason we wouldn't return to this site is because there is not much for older children to do and our 12 year old was bored all week. Perfect for little ones and older couples not so much for families with bigger kids.
Kirsty from Lanarkshire (12 August 2016)

As I come from this area I know what the area has to offer which is an excellent variety of features for young and old alike.
James from Loughborough (12 August 2016)

Site was clean
Laura from Norwich (12 August 2016)

Nice area and a beautiful park with good entertainment, but. On arrival our caravan had a very strong smell of curry inside. It made us feel sick. Not a good start and it wasn't the special break I had planned to take my parents on after a very difficult year for them. No complaints with the staff though as they tried to rectify with a spray. It did help for an hour or 2 but then the smell returned. Every morning when we woke up and every evening when we returned to the van it smelt just as bad. We had to open windows, light candles and spray air freshener every time. . the 2nd issue was the swimming pool. The water did not seem clean. As a family we swim a lot but something was off with this water. also, the "lifeguards" (3 of them) was to busy chatting and giggling to be able to survey the swimmers and did not ensure that the pool sides were clear of water which was the result of a lady slipping into the pool on one of the days. This was all a shame as the site and all the other staff was actually lovely. Unfortunately this will not be a site that I would visit again as I feel that our break was ruined.
Martyn from Rotherham (12 August 2016)

We had a 3 night stay last minute cheapie holiday .caravan was basic and battered. But clean and beds where comfy we where close to the club so noisy after midnight, people walking back to there caravans. On site grill restaurant was spot on very nice. Play park is good you can have a pint and watch the kids. Pool was very cold.shop is expensive. There is no beach on this site but lovely views of the harbour. Great for the ferry over to the islands plus if you have got kids visit finlaystone country estate it's fantastic.
Carly from Carmarthen (08 August 2016)

Kids loved it nothing bad to say !
Alan from Liverpool (08 August 2016)

There was not enough entertainment for adults with teenagers. every time we asked staff for anything at reception and bar etc, the staff were not friendly or helpful and I felt like I was putting them out for asking them for things. there was bingo for half an hour at night for over 18's but children were still allowed in and people who were playing couldn't get a seat or hear numbers being called. this was very frustrating and staff didn't help when we told the staff we were not happy. when we arrived the sofa bed etc had not been cleaned and were full of crumbs and dirty plasters. again when asked staff to help it felt as if we were putting them out to do it. I don't think I would return to weymss bay unless alot of more ebtertainment for adults and teenagers put on. cleanliness better and better training for staff so they are more approachable and helpful.
Anne from Glasgow (06 August 2016)

Overall break was good tho we did have our dog with us and only place we could go with him was beer garden. Weather turned for the worst so we were holed up in caravan as we wouldn't leave our dog in himself.
Janice from Paisley (05 August 2016)

Good place good views easy access to islands.
Samuel from Leicester (05 August 2016)

Had a great weekend would recommend site to friends. Disappointed not more of a village
Ilene from Penicuik (01 August 2016)

It's obvious how hard the staff work but many aspects just not good enough. Public toilet facilities were filthy, changing facilities at pool were shocking and pool was dangerously overcrowded with children. Many parents not supervising their children generally and some kids running wild terrorising guests. Caravan had awful smell. Staff were incredibly helpful and attentive but ultimately I wouldn't return or recommend this park.
Anna from Kilmarnock (01 August 2016)

What a fantastic site! it's small but friendly, with plenty for the kids to do. we didn't visit the entertainment at the show bar but did use the pub, the food was lovely and good value. the site is only a short walk to the railway station and the ferry terminal so plenty of ways to enjoy a day out. the caravan was clean and comfortable with a lovely view. would definitely visit again.
Liz from Thornton (30 July 2016)

Well placed for our visit to largs. Staff very friendly and helpful. Caravan clean.
Rachel from Pitstone (30 July 2016)

We only used this facility as a base as the youngest in our party was 25 and everything on site was geared for children. There was nothing close by for us to walk to everywhere e did we had to drive to.
Sharon from Billingham (30 July 2016)

I found the caravan park to be in a very beautiful location. the two negative points I would make is the caravan we stayed in was a 3 bedroom stuart caravan but there was only one bathroom, there was no caravans with 3 bedrooms and an addition bathroom. the length of time to queue at the bar at the busiest part of the night was quite a long time.
Scott (29 July 2016)

When we booked we were told that we would get towels when we arrive but that was not the case and we had to buy 5 new towels. We asked to be upgraded and told nothing was available. The team at the park where not interested in customer service.
Raj from Manchester (29 July 2016)

Wessex bay is a great location. My son enjoyed the kids playing area while my daughter enjoyed swimming pool. Really nice bar. Nice staff also. Just opposite the caravan parks is a ferry crossing and also 3 miles away is largs beaches with lots of activities for the family and also another ferry crossing to the isle of cumbrae which we really enjoyed. If you like riding a bicycle would recommend it. The caravan was ok only the curtains needs upgrading. The shower was ok for the kids but not for the adults (not much movement). will like to be back again.
Susanna from Sheffield (22 July 2016)

Site very big and I felt it was far too big.not much to do for kids on a rainy day as there was 1 swimming pool you had to queue for.one pool table and the rest was mainly gambling machines and about 3 arcade games that I saw.there is one small play park but for the size of the site this was pathetic.the venue would benift from refurbishment.we saw cleaners leave duvets and pillows out in the rain and thrown on the ground for collection to be cleaned.you get nice views across the bay but overall the site could be so much better.
Richard (18 July 2016)

The kindness of the staff was amazing, maybe a bigger swimming pool,or indoor sport activities in case of bad weather would have been a better solution for our group
Pirero from Torino (18 July 2016)

Lovely caravan in a quite area of the park however it was big enough for 2/4 but would be a squeeze for 6.
Susan from Durham (18 July 2016)

We had a nice break but few things I think would be helpful. . 1. No real system for swimming so turned away twice because pool was full, told to go away and come back which we did but were told it was full again...a booking type system would not go a miss. . 2. Lack of changing rooms, young lad in pool was rude and one of the young lifeguard girls was clearly talking about me because I was unhappy about point 2 above - not really acceptable!. . 3. Wanted to book archery to be told it was cancelled, kids disappointed. . 4. The worst for me was the toilets in the main show bar, the ladies were damp, smelly and in need of a good scrub and if there is budget then a refurb would be brilliant. . 5. The kids park was brilliant, the bottles of wine in bar great value as was the food. kids loved the little beach along the road and the tarzan swing we found in the woods and made full use of the basketball course to play tennis on as the grass made it difficult to play tennis on the tennis court.
Laura from Paisley (15 July 2016)

I definitely recommend coming to wemyss bay the staff were brilliant always friendly and helpful and the kids clubs were excellent. Had a fabulous week despite the weather.
Joanne from Renfrew (11 July 2016)

Very average caravan a bit scabby 3 nights stayed in better to be honest elsewhere not any seats in entertainment complex..overall it's probably our last caravan holiday ..next time a hotel or abroad
John from Stranraer (11 July 2016)

Good value for money break. The kids loved it.
David from Forfar (08 July 2016)

Enjoyed our holiday. Only 2 things were a let down. Didn't like where our caravan was situated. and entertainment at night for adults was not good think it needs improved.
Michelle from Saltcoats (04 July 2016)

Great park will go back again
Susan from Grimsby (24 June 2016)

Great park nice staff had a trip on the ferry loads to do in area park was nice and clean
Tracy from East Wemyss (17 June 2016)

Fantastic family holiday in a lovely location
Adele from Haltwhistle (10 June 2016)

Very cheap but for something to visit you have to go further
Ionel (03 June 2016)

We had a fantastic holiday definitely come back and with our caravan being right in front of the club kids could come and go to the park on there own brilliant
Darren from Chorley (03 June 2016)

On arrival, we were in love with the amazing views. Caravan was visibly clean however we found lots of fruit flys in the bathroom. A member of staff knocked on in the morning to check if we were ok and we told her of the fly issue, she said she'd get the cleaners to call which she did whilst we were out for the day - bathroom was recleaned and no more flys. We then had an issue with toilet flooding - maintainance were out within 10 mins of reporting and had it fixed in no time - a common problem in our van due to how floor was laid and pipe not fitted properly afterwards. . overall we had fun - pool was ok small but clean. . looking at returning soon.
Robert from Greater Manchester (03 June 2016)

We stayed in a beautiful lodge and the views were stunning over the bay. Staff were friendly and welcoming and facilities were good for our young family needs.
Nicola from Durham (03 June 2016)

I had a lovely long weekend here with my children. Will definitely be returning in the summer
Jill from Glasgow (30 May 2016)

Staff entertainment and food was all good had a great time .
Robert from Kent (20 May 2016)

Lodge was great for the purpose we wanted we took our 86 year old parents with us because they where getting work done in their house . I would certainly come back with them thanks
Elizabeth from Kilwinning (13 May 2016)

Beautiful views from the site. caravan clean and tidy. reception staff welcoming and helpful. didn't use any of the facilities so can't comment. shop well stocked and reasonably priced. For a short break it was excellent. park is surrounded by lovely walks to suit all abilities and a short drive to the likes of largs and the ferry to the isle of bute on the doorstep. will go back.
Susan from Rosyth (13 May 2016)

Fab holidat great park fab staff very helpful will go back if can afford
Terence from Billingham (06 May 2016)

Lodges were great facilities great had a great time
June from Armadale (11 April 2016)

No draught cider all weekend and the staff we found very poor we ordered a pizza and it was burnt and was told that the chef knows it was burnt and that if we didnt like it then we could order something else . ( the pizza was so bad it should never have left the kitchen ) . that said we dont use all the facilities as we like to get away and relax so still enjoyed it .
James (11 April 2016)

Nice area. All very clean and tidy. Caravan was new, nicely furnished and basic. If we return would like to stay in a bigger caravan, and would enjoy a view over the water.
Lynda from Angus Scotland (08 April 2016)

Positives the onsite restaraunt was great the food was tasty hot and served quickly great value too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Negatives the toilet in the club was gross and the security on site was lacking. That aside nice park nice staff great for families.
Customer 54 from Scotland (08 April 2016)

Absoluteley loved the "bruce" caravan. Luxurious comfort & fittings. Wemyss bay, great base for exploring the west coast.
Julie from Edinburgh (28 March 2016)

A picturesque holiday park. smaller park than some i've stayed at but nicely kept and staff very helpful. I would recommend this park.
Michelle (28 March 2016)

The caravan looked lovely until we opened the door. Then the first thing we noticed was a slightly rusty edge to the fridge. When we opened the bathroom door I was met with a white towel rail that looked like it was speckled all over in orange pee. Fortunately it was rust. The top edge near the valve had begun to flake. The curtains in the living room were hanging off slightly. The curtain tie backs in the bedroom were spotted with black mould marks. As we're the curtains and tie backs in the bathroom. The radiators needed a brush through the vent to get rid of the dust. . . . this spoiled our opinion of a van that was otherwise nicely presented. . we arrived early and the reception we got was pretty poor. We waited 3 hrs in the venue pub which smelled funny. . . the site shop is over priced with a poor selection of products. The fridge contained a rather squashy cucumber priced at over £1 which I found rather repulsive and made me question the state of the other stock. . . the pool is adequate but the changing areas were a disgrace. The showers did not run of more than one was in use and even if they did run the pressure was abysmal. The lockers are in a state of disrepair. The taps in the toilet area also don't run if the showers are in use. . the lifeguards were very attentive. They were careful re the max numbers in the pool and I could see they kept records of this however the max safe number was still in effect overcrowded as I was constantly being kicked and jumped on by unruly kids. . . you have some very lovely young staff who are let down by some of the older staff who have forgotten to smile and promote your location. . . we will not bother to come back. Very disappointed.
Michelle from Lancashire (28 March 2016)

Caravan was a dump
Stephen from Glasgow (28 March 2016)

Lovely holiday . ladies toilets in main entertainment area extremely cold. Took my 18 months old grandson in to baby changing area in there he was actually shivering it was that cold only thing that I have an issue with
Susan from Uddingston Glasgow (21 March 2016)

Visited 24 october 2015 for a week and we had the best holiday ever! caravan was spotless, warm and cozy. We only used the pool once but it was clean as were the changing rooms. Didn't see any entertainment as we don't tend to use it because we were out and about until late. Fantastic spot overlooking the bay. Visited arran on the ferry as foot passengers and used bus on the other side. Went to the ice cream parlour in largs.. fab! just a beautiful place, very quiet I think because of the time of year. Went as a family of four ( girl 10,boy4) loved it so much we booked for next year in the same van. Brilliant value for money

Super value for money. Lovely stay in beautiful surroundings and many days out close. Only small niggle is that the evening sim time start was at 4.45 which is rather early if you want to spend the day out on for example one of the islands. The other is why swimming pool staff insisted on keeping open the outside door in late october?

First caravan we were given was awful; dark, dismal, depressing. It shouldn't have been on site. This wasnt even their lowest class of caravan so I dread to think what else theyve got! we were forced to pay £40 to get a decent van. expected a decent van with what we had already paid so was very angry about this.

Had a week on site what a lovely friendly site very child friendly , it is really good for all. Ages . the staff are happy cheerfull and willing to help. The shop like most sites is a bit expensive if the site was open all year round I would buy a caravan on site in a heart beat.

Caravan was spotless clean on arrival which pleased us very much, pleased with where it was situated aswell as it was nice & quiet, not happy with kids clubs rules though as under 8s had to be accompanied by an adult at all times which kind of defeats the purpose of a kids club!! my children didn't enjoy being watched all the time by us our other adults while trying to have fun!! we found quite a bit of trouble in the play park aswell between parents not children!

Very nice park but very steep roads. This is not reflected in the brochure. surrounding area lovely and the views from the caravan over the firth of clyde are spectacular.
Marjory from West Midlands (18 September 2015)

It was a good holiday but the walk upto the park is very steep for people who struggle walking especially with heavy bag. I think transport should be offered for a small fee to get people and there bags to reception.

Lovely surroundings, good for younger kids as swimming pool and play area well organised. Long hike up to caravan , would be difficult if you didn't have a car.

Always like this area of scotland and handy to visit my son living in glasgow. Staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. We had two minor faults with our caravan and they were sorted within the hour of reporting them. My brother stayed with us and wanted to use the sauna in the pool area but it was out of order so that was unfortunate. All in all this is a very nice park with a nice club and separate sport bar area and restaurant. Would recommend it!

A lovely holiday park, although didn't realise how steep the walk is up to it from main road with suitcases! fabulous views and outlook make up for it. If there is one thing I would like to see instated would be a free to use minibus that would run from reception to site entrance at regular intervals for those that don't drive/come by car.

Lisa from Hertfordshire (15 August 2015)

We really enjoyed our time here. the only thing we were a little bit disappointed with was the pool which was a little too overcrowded to swim. I understand that you have tried to remedy this with limiting the time people are in there..but too many people are admitted for each session. perhaps you could limit by pre booking? everything else was lovely including your helpful staff. the accommodation was clean and well maintained and we appreciated a member of staff coming by to check everything was ok. we will book again but larger accommodation as we did find our caravan a little small for the three of us. the entertainment was good too!

Lou from North West England (14 August 2015)

Our caravan was so much nicer than it looked online and we were pleasantly surprised. Very clean and the reception staff were helpful and attentive. The park is very hilly but the views are beautiful. If they could attend to the kids football playing area, which is muddy after rain, it would be perfect. Great location for visiting largs and rothesay.

Fantastic views! very good entertainment more the children. Lacking smiles from staff and when we arrived early at the park we still had to wait until 4pm for the caravan. Not a lot to do for the kids when the weather is bad i.e. No indoor play area.

The caravans at top are on a huge steep hill which is hard when you are in and out the caravan a few times a day, the pool is great for the kids and the play area is ok but its out door so if it rains its no good, we went from friday to monday and the venue was so busy on the sat night we couldn't get seats so we had to take the kids back to the caravan as there was no where else we could take them as there is only one venue, we spent the full weekend entertaining the kids in the caravan at night, most of the people in the park were a bit rough and ready and on the sunday the shop in the park was broken into which is really off putting as its never happened in any other caravan parks we have been to, the only good thing is the location of the train station and ferry which is straight acrosss the road from the park, we did was take the kids on the ferry on the sunday to rothesay which is a beautiful place.

I really enjoyed the holiday - although the system for getting a turn in the pool was a bit hit or miss. some days you just could queue and then still not get a place. the venue was fab and the food was great. the kids loved the entertainment. I was actually going to email a bit of feedback regarding the caravan, the single beds are crazy small. my 8 year old fell out of bed a few time and on one occasion banged his ear so badly on the cabinet it was bruised for over a week and very painful. I understand these caravans are compact but as these were new for this season they have been very badly designed to utilise the space, I would rather a slightly smaller living area and a bit more width on the single beds.

The park should be renamed wemyss bay; scotlands monte carlo! the drive up to the caravan is great fun twisting and turning all the way up and certainly more interesting than your average park. The facilities and staff are great especially towards the kids. as they aren't too strict about having exactly enough tickets to get sweets and things. there's a couple of tables next to the pool that should be used as dinning tables and have food served at it as the views across the lochs are fantastic. they just seem a bit wasted being used to wait for the kids to get out of the pool. . best of all for the mrs the bingo was not linked to other parks which meant the prize money wasn't huge but every game was won by someone in the room adding to the buzz of bingo and meant getting a table was difficult if you arrived late. although a group of lady owners let my wife share their table and had a good old natter, which was nice of them. . one comment though, video games. they were all £1 a shot which meant they weren't exactly used much by anyone if these were able to be brought down to 50p or 25p a shot I am sure you'd never get people off them and the overall income would rise.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed wemyss bay holiday park, entertainment staff were nice to all, they made lots of effort with everyone, especially people with special needs disabilities, which was nice to see, they didn't exclude anyone, so that really impressed myself and my wife. i've seen other places where people with disabilities are excluded and not being treated the same, but it was a refreshing sight to see everyone mingle and dance at the venue. the park is big, but it could do with more things in the park, the swimming pool is small, and when busy is hard to swim, as it is mixed with kids jumping and playing, and adults trying to get some exercise, so I think they should invest in a adult pool, and leave the original pool for the children. internet access is free, but very poor reception, and you have to sign up to it, but when you try to logon, its a nightmare, I ended up giving up trying and used my mobile data instead of wifi. I think the park could do with more attractions in the park, arcades isnt enough for kids, and the kids play area is small, the caravan park is massive they could make a proper adventure theme park inside it with rope rides etc. luckily our kids enjoyed swimming and when we were not out and about visiting bute etc, the kids were away swimming, but as I said there isnt much there, thats why its not 10/10. I think they should invest and create more things for the whole family.
Nadine from Paisley (10 July 2015)

I was disappointed with the caravan, it was smaller than ones we have stayed in previously on other sites in the area, it was also quite shabby and whilst clean on arrival, it smelt stale. the staff were all very friendly and helpful and the facilities on the site were good and the children's entertainers were particularly good

We really enjoyed our holiday weather was great. Their isn't anything to do at wemyss bay you have to travel to everything, their is a big field at the back and a wee park and kids entertainment. My feeling is that the site is overcrowded and a bit dated what ruined our holiday was having travellers staying near us on site of whom pinched our dog lead why! and a member off staff going round with her clip board was so rude.. she was the only member of staff on site that was unhelpful everyone else couldn't do more to help make sure our stay was enjoyable. we wont be back here to stay.

Loved the caravan site and surroundings, my only complaint is lack of seating in the evening at the club, for the amount of people on site the venue can't accommodate and not having somewhere to sit meant that the kids didn't get to see the entertainment, once bingo had finished though the place emptied!
Emma from Manchester (25 May 2015)

Overall, the holiday was spoiled by two things. The toilet became blocked three times and the soil pipe became totally disconnected on one occasion. The staff did their best to solve these problems but the condition of the toilet was always at the back of one's mind.

Beautiful caravan spotless and everything you need for a self catering holiday..not for people with walking difficulties as it is set very high up on a hill..view from park stunning..and park immaculate...we had a small dog with us therefore could not use the venue as dogs are not allowed inside anywhere which was a bit of an inconvenience for us as we had no car and there are no shops in weymms bay..the onsite shop is very well stocked but quite pricey so we relied on takeaway for our evening meals..i.e chinese..fish and chip shop..overall we had a lovely stay at the park and cant fault the caravan or the site..

Holiday park facilities were great however there was no baby swings which we were dispointed with. I think this is something the park should have as there are alot of families with toddlers go to your holiday park.

This was a great park. The staff were lovely especially the pool staff who were outstanding and encouraged us to book up the fun sessions - which were fun with floats aplenty for everyone. The caravan was immaculate and well stocked and the reception staff were also amazing. The park was clean and well staffed. Bingo was a pain every night as it was difficult to keep the kids silent!! however else everyone seemed to like it. Wings and nachos were lovely from the bar (off the kids menu) although the last lot we had were missing a wing (only 3 usually 4) and the cheese on the nachos wasn't melted so attention to consistency would be good. Otherwise all other food was exceptionally good and value for money. 10/10 for this park and the exceptional staff.it is worth taking the ferry across to rothsay and visiting mount stuart. A great day out for the kids.
