Michael (11 August 2018)

Excellent lodge and location . very peaceful and relaxing . well maintained although disappointed that moon lighting wasn’t working . good fishing from lodge . clean and well equipped
Tracey from Bucks (06 August 2018)

Really relaxing break, breakfast view of the lake watching the wildlife. Definitely will return.
Craig from Crewe (03 August 2018)

Can't fault it. From the beginning to the end. Lovely location close to the m5 but far enough you couldn't hear it. A mile and a bit walk to the centre of cullompton if you fancied a pint and some lunch. 3 minute drive to a large tesco or aldi. Lodge was splendid. Everything you needed was there. Nice evenings spent sunny ourselves on the deck
Adrian from Chatham (28 July 2018)

2nd visit to upton lake lodges, clean & tidy on arrival, well equipped and a great location. Really enjoyed our stay because of the peace & quiet.
Simon from York (20 July 2018)

We had a fantastic time at upton lakes & lodges. Beautiful, peaceful & relaxing setting, surrounded by beautiful scenery and lots of varied wildlife. Our lodge was gorgeous, spacious, fully equipped & kitted our to a very high standard. It was clean & had lots of info on local attractions & eateries. We had fantastic weather but are looking forward to booking for a winter break!
Gemma from Chichester (16 July 2018)

This is our 2nd visit to upton lakes. Our previous visit was to lodge no. 13..it was fantastic. This visit was to lodge no. 12. Not so nice. The lodge was in need of some tlc it felt grubby and the squeaky floor boards did not help. That aside, we had a good trip.
David from Hemel Hempstead (13 July 2018)

Lovely peaceful holiday, lodges need a little upkeep and a welcome pack would have been nice. But perfect location and weather could not have been better. Hubbie enjoyed the fishing.
Jacqui from Ashford (13 July 2018)

A lovely place peaceful but only 5 min drive to aldi and tescos and the high street. Was central for getting to dartmouth exmoor paighton and minehead we used it as a base but some used it just to relax which we did on a night with the hot tub. Lodge had everything you need the 16 month old enjoyed the decked area looking at the ducks and canadian geese.
Carol from Keighley (09 July 2018)

Perfect weekend in perfect location. lodge was amazing. booked for next year alteady
Hayley from Hampshire (09 July 2018)

Stayed in lodge 1, and the lodge was spotless and a home from home, chris the caretaker welcomed us and was very helpful thoughout the holiday.surroundings are beautiful and quiet and the fishing on the old lake was great. We enjoyed it so much we rebooked for the following year as soon as we got home.
Mark from Neath (29 June 2018)

This place was a beautiful relaxing retreat. I never wanted to leave.
Felicity from Weston-Super-Mare (25 June 2018)

Lodge was well equipped and very comfortable. The park was great with lots of wildlife around. The only fault was the actual swim outside the lodge for fishing not enough space as we were at the end of the lake with another lodge in the corner. The fishing was fine if we went away from the lodge not easy for me being disabled but all in all we had a great holiday and would return.
Glyn from Rotherham (23 June 2018)

A beautiful lodge very well presented with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Very well equipped and in a superb central location to be able to explore anywhere in devon. Nothing was too much trouble for our lovely hosts.
Elizabeth from Hemel Hempstead (16 June 2018)

Fabulous location. Tranquil and picturesque. Great facilities and well maintained. we would definitely go there again in the future.
Glen from Bristol (28 May 2018)

If you are looking for a peaceful holiday, you could do worse than this lodge. Staff were helpful & unobtrusive. The lodge was clean & well appointed. If we return to devon on holiday, we will certainly consider returning here.
Allan (26 May 2018)

Very secluded but close to town.... . well presented lodge and facilities. . furniture.. well used... beds etc absolutely fine. . hot tub excellent
Colin from Basildon (18 May 2018)

Bliss !
Sara from Taunton (14 May 2018)

On entering the lodge immediately it looked tired and in need of a refresh. the hot tub really needs to be replaced as some jets were broken, the chlorine floater was brown and dirty, there were stains on the bottom of the hot tub. But more worryingly hot tub smelt highly of chlorine and one of the party had a reaction to the water and ended up with a skin rash. . it would have been really appreciated if the site manager of the lodges had visited and check if everything was ok during out visit but we didn't hear anything from them. really disappointed with the visit and wouldn't recommend the site currently which is a real shame as visited four years ago and highly recommended it then.
Lyndsay from Basingstoke (30 April 2018)

Great location. Little let down by the hot tub not cleaned fully. Oven not cleaned and items not replaced when broken by previous people.
Jacqueline from Fareham (13 April 2018)

Excellent..we spent a long weekend here, a mini-honeymoon..actually had the same cabin we had the year before. Lovely friendly greeting, we could`ve arrived early too, but we`d already gone further into devon. I fished the lakes, quite successfully..was very peaceful..which is what we wanted. Cabin was clean and tidy, and has everything we would want..bonus being the hot tub which was used every evening. Thanks for having us, we`ll be back..and I hope anyone reading this, will enjoy their stay too!

Location was great - 2 minute drive to the small highstreet and a 5 minute drive to a huge tesco and aldi. It was a bit annoying that the lodge didn’t even have small condiments like salt & pepper or simply some hand wash.

Lovely clean lodge lovely and quiet surrounding
Chris from Kingsdon Somerset (26 February 2018)

Excellent accommodation and location (very close to town). friendly lady met us on arrival and we were left to our own devices all weekend. The only down side was the sewerage smell from the 2nd bathroom. Luckily it was just the 2 of us so we kept the door to that bedroom closed off. the remote control's for the tv were poor and didn't work unless you got close to the tv, we bought new batteries but that didn't make a difference. The bed was also very squeaky so we put pillows behind the bedstead. Overall though I would definitely recommend as it was clean and the hot tub was amazing! it's great for a quiet weekend away or fishing trip but the owners just need to pay a little bit more attention to the finer details which cleaners may miss.

Stayed in the uphill sanctuary with hot tub and sauna, lovely views and nice places to walk, and not far from columpton town. We stayed in february so it was a bit cold but sunny, but we soon warmed up inside with the wood burner going.
Gordon from Gloucester (09 February 2018)

This is our second visit to upton lakes but our first with our dog. We didn't know what to expect when staying in a pet friendly cabin but we were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and clean it was. The location was perfect for our dog zeus (fields and walks) but there isn't alot in the surrounding areas (perfect get away to avoid the world). all in all a beautiful retreat and a lovely break from reality!
Charlotte from Pontypridd (09 February 2018)

Was a beautiful setting , lovely place .we stayed there as my daughter got married at upton barn justup the roadso it was very handy for the venue .the only thing was the decking it did get very slippery when wet or when it was frosty first thing in the morning. Perhaps it should have something on it to stop it being so slippery .

Lovely lodge in a peaceful setting. Member of staff met upon arrival and very helpful and the lodge was nice and clean along with a perfect sunken hot tub. Electric fire light in the lounge didn’t work and the bed was a bit squeaky and usually some lodges have board games and sky tv there but this one didn’t but apart from that it was perfect

We had a lovely time at upton lakes with our four children aged between 4-11. I enjoyed having quality family time without internet to play board games, fish in the lake and relax in the hot tub. The lodge was fantastic with lots of space and everything you could require. I especially liked that it had a washing machine which meant I didn't have a massive pile of washing to come back home with. We used the barbecue one evening for dinner and the boys enjoyed toasting marshmallows on it too. A very quiet and beautiful location. The town of cullompton didn't have much to do but it is easy to access other towns. I would definitely return here with just the husband for a romantic break.

We had a peaceful, relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings. the lodge was perfect - warm, clean and with everything you would need. It is only a few minutes from cullumpton so that you can purchase any necessary groceries, etc. my son has already booked again and has recommended upton lakes to several work colleagues who are looking for a peaceful time away. We will definitely be coming again.

Wendy from Thirsk (22 September 2017)

Everything we needed for our stay was in the lodge with the added bonus of a hot tub. Main lake was hard fishing in just a few days but will return to try again. Wife had some lovely carp from the match lake on a light pole along with skimmers and roach.

A very peaceful and quiet venue, our lodge was although good in side a facility needed maintenance in certain areas, example being shower ran hot and gold a new thermostat need.
Gordon from Sheffield (15 September 2017)

Everying was great, lodge very comfy , beds very comfy, needs bigger tv. Top lake too shallow very hard to return fish safely
Phillip from Stalybridge (15 September 2017)

A really excellent lodge set in lovely surroundings ,just the place to relax and recharge the batteries
Linda from Wareham (15 September 2017)

Stayed at upton lakes for a wedding, ideal location and quality accommodation. Clean and we'll presented. Only one minor comment is the constant low hum of traffic from the nearby m5 but became immune to it after a while.
Colin from Frontman, Ayrshire (11 September 2017)

The lodge & grounds were amazing. Really felt like home from home. We took our dog with us so it was really crucial the outside was secure. Had nothing to worry about, decking & outside all secure so he could wander & watch the ducks (without scaring them!) would definitely go again & recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all
Sarah from Cannock (08 September 2017)

Absolutely perfect for our needs, hubby got to fish on his doorstep and I had plenty of walks with the dogs.
Zarina from Derbyshire (04 September 2017)

Excellent!
Vicky from Preston (01 September 2017)

In need of a little updating (some things just a little worn) but homely, clean and tidy. . . a very friendly welcome with staff on hand to greet us and willing to help with any enquiries. . no facilities apart from lake for fishing - no shop/café/entertainment/wi-fi - but we didn't miss any of these and the price reflected that. . the kids actually loved making our own entertainment.
Donna from Bristol (25 August 2017)

Great lodge lovely and clean with everything you could need. Great fishing. Only downside is the noise from the m5.
Troy from Sonning (25 August 2017)

Fantastic stay for a surprise 30th birthday helpful staff on arrival. Clean and beautiful lodges. hot tub under the stars a* definitely would return and highly recommend these lodges especially hill top. All four of us left feeling relaxed and happy

We had a fantastic stay, didn't want to come home, actually it was one of our favourite holidays we have had including going abroad . it was a beautiful log cabin, very peaceful, enjoyed fishing and sat around the lakes, we went on day trips to exmouth, dawlish and teignmouth and then chilled out at the cabin on an evening using the hot tub and bbq, staff greeting was amazing, we defiantly want to return for a lovely, peaceful chilled out holiday plus our views were amazing.
Adam from Bristol (18 August 2017)

Excellent holiday. Looking for a nice relaxing break away and that is what we got. The hot tub was a great way to relax after visiting the nearby town's and cities. Views were stunning and a 10mins walk from the local town for getting the essentials. Lodge was clean and tidy and had everything included, ie towels, dishwasher, washer/drier, hoover, cooking facilities and an outdoor bbq. Overall 10 out of 10. See you again soon.
Hayden from Flintshire (18 August 2017)

Superb peace and relaxation and a very caring team!
Rona from Iow (18 August 2017)

Gorgeous quite location, but still close to amenities. The lodge itself was beautiful, very tastefully decorated, spacious and clean. The view was . amazing and the hot tub was great. We really enjoyed our stay and would definately return
Sarah from Staffordshire (14 August 2017)

Very private and peaceful great for walking our dogs and the fishing great will be coming back
Christopher from Wolverhampton (12 August 2017)

Really peaceful setting and plenty of space in the lodges. Pity no soap/washing up liquid supplied in kitchen or shower rooms.
Graham from Exeter (07 August 2017)

Lovely relaxing setting with excellent fishing
Nicola (04 August 2017)

Had a fantastic weeks holiday here. Was lovely to see me three boys fishing and being out on the fresh air instead of being glued to technology. The washer dryer was a big help too. The hot tub water was a bit murky, I don't know if the water is changed for new guests. Overall was a lovely week and a great base for gorgeous places to visit. Thank you
Richard from Mirfield (04 August 2017)

Lovely place going again in october x
Kerrie from Nottingham (04 August 2017)

Excellent! we had a lovely stay in lodge 9. Everything about the lodge and surroundings was perfect. Enjoyed seeing the ducks and rabbits on the site. Was very close to the town and had a couple of lovely meals in the local pub/restaurants. The dogs enjoyed the local walks and a trip to halden park, plus a run along the beach. First class! thanks upton lakes for an amazing stay. Hope to go back soon.
Jackie from London (04 August 2017)

Really needs updating in the bathrooms shower ran really slow and says it's peaceful but can hear the traffic on the motorway
Steven from Worcester (28 July 2017)

Upton lakes is a beautiful location, very quiet and relaxing. We arrived early and were pleasantly surprised to find that our lodge was ready for us. . the lodge itself was spacious, clean and very well equipped. . the decking area was large and overlooked the lake. . on the first evening we decided to make use of the gas barbeque. We found that the barbeque ignition was faulty. However, this issue was rectified quickly by a staff member who supplied a gas lighter within a few minutes and we were able to enjoy our evening. . the only other significant issue that we encountered was that some of the jets within the hot tub were not functioning. As the week went on this situation worsened until the hot tub malfunctioned completely and displayed a number of error messages. . we attempted to call the emergency contact number which was supplied with the lodge information pack but were greeted by an answer phone message on a number of occasions. . this was a significant disappointment as the hot tub had been influential in our booking choice. . we were able to use the hot tub later that night with the aforementioned reduction in operational jets as it seemed to have reset itself. . this is a situation that clearly requires immediate attention. We have read previous reviews which also highlight similar issues regarding the hot tubs not functioning properly. I would reiterate that we loved the location and the lodge itself was perfect, spacious, clean and with all the facilities you could want. We would definitely return in the future but hope that the afore mentioned issues are rectified so as to not tarnish an otherwise fantastic experience.
Simon from Fareham (21 July 2017)

Upton lakes is a lovely place to stay, quiet and peaceful, hot tub and bbq as well, nice lakes for fishing ,not too far to travel for things to do national trust nearby ,quaint villages and beaches not too far away and exeter.
Dean from Crawley (17 July 2017)

Had a very pleasant holiday and the weather was good. the setting of upton lakes is beautiful and there is plenty of wildlife to see. we particularly enjoyed feeding the ducks every day, and it was lovely to see some tiny ducklings which seemed to grow bigger in the fortnight that we spent there. . whilst comfortable and reasonably well equipped, the lodge was missing one or two basic items of kitchen equipment, e.g. A chopping board, a dishcloth, a cutlery drainer for the sink, a baking tray and a large plastic kitchen spoon, but we purchased these locally and left them for the benefit of future occupants. . . except for a few minutes when we first arrived, we did not see any member of staff (other than the man who checked the hot tub) in the whole fortnight that we were there - not even on the morning that we left.
Geoffrey from Squire (17 July 2017)

3rd time we have visited upton lakes and just as good as before. Lovely setting and well equipped lodge. Claire is so friendly and helpful but we are left to enjoy a relaxing holiday with help on hand if needed.
Alison from Runcorn (14 July 2017)

Fantastic time already booked for next year
Hayley from Hampshire (10 July 2017)

Brilliant lodge, brilliant site, so quiet.
Paul from Sidcup (07 July 2017)

Overall an enjoyable stay with very helpful staff, the rules and regulation were quite tight and off putting. There are some privately owned lodges that seem to control the sight in terms of what can and can not be done, e.g. Hot tubs can not be used ofter 9.30pm and you have to be very quite if out side after 9.30pm. This I feel should be relaxed to camp site rules, i.e. 11.00pm. . the hot tub only partially worked but was still enjoyable and the bbq although worked needed replacing due to its condition, the owners did order a new one when I reported this, however due to our short stay we had to make do with the existing one.
Julia (26 June 2017)

Calm peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Furniture needs updating apart from that excellant
Laura from Northampton (23 June 2017)

Been to upton lakes for the past 5 years. Disappointed this year when jets on hottub not working, tv quality not good, toilet wobbling and not anchored to floor and doors faulty. For the price I expected a lot more. No staff seen during week and hot tub not checked.
Janette from Swansea (23 June 2017)

15th time we have stayed over the last 15 years (upton started with luxury caravans then lodges and even posher lodges) only a short break this time but it is just such a great chill out place feel relaxed within hours. always welcomed always clean and red hot for all 3 days dogs loved it so did mum. It's the only place we have ever been too more than twice see you at easter if not before gina mum and the doggies x
Gina from Derby (19 June 2017)

Lodge quite small but well maintained! everything we needed was there. We didn't really see any staff to comment on, jacuzzi was wonderful. Some of the dishes in our lodge were dirty, only complaint! lovely area, beautifully maintained lake and gardens! stunning!
Clare from Exeter (12 June 2017)

If you want to chill and relax this is where you need to go no phone signal or wifi just peace and quiet and amazing wildlife can't wait to go back.
Dave from Bristol (09 June 2017)

Wonderful setting , very peaceful, lots of wildlife, and a family of ducklings visited us everyday
Catherine from North Somerset (09 June 2017)

Hot tub broke down on day 2 of holiday. Staff insisted that it was not faulty until it broke down again only a couple of days later. . minimal compensation given. Location very pleasant and surroundings beautiful.
Robert from London (05 June 2017)

Absolutely stunning place to stay and relax. very stressed out when we arrived, but we left feeling relaxed and ready for the next thing love can throw at us
Dawn from Nottingham (27 May 2017)

Needs more fish in lakes and some branches in water cleared
Jonathan (27 May 2017)

Very helpful staff on arrival, great clean, modern lodge with all you could want in the kitchen. Good size bedroom & bathroom. Fishing pegs right in front of the lodge with plenty of good quality fish. We have booked at the lodges for a longer break next year. we highly recommend.
Steve from Weymouth (26 May 2017)

This is the umpteenth time we have been to upton lakes and we think of this as our second home. That speaks for itself.
Judy from Birmingham (26 May 2017)

Lovely place to visit with the dogs, the lodge was beautiful and clean on arrival. The only thing I would change is the leather chairs as I dislike leather, but that's just a personal hate. . . we will definitely be returning again for a lovely week away
Stuart (20 May 2017)

Lovely location. Shame no phone signal or wifi.
Nicola from Shame No Phone Signal Or Wifi. (15 May 2017)

Perfect location if you want peace and tranquility in a lovely setting. The lodges are spacious and we'll equipped. The welcome from reception very genuine and you have the feeling that nothing is too much trouble. this is our 7th hoseasons experience and the lodge here at upton lakes one our best accommodation experiences. The weber gas barbecue a very lovely touch and one that hoseasons may wish to replicate at other sites. the lack of wifi is slightly limiting and provision could be beneficial to plan your days rather than look at work, which in his perfect setting you would be happy to avoid. 10/10 though still.
Kim from Nottm (13 May 2017)

It was such a relaxing place to stay we caught plenty of fish the lodge was spotless and it had everything you needed the hot tub was great the shops was only down the road so I would recommend this place to stay
Nicolette from Kings Lynn (12 May 2017)

We loved our weekend at upton lakes. We stayed here for our wedding weekend. It's such a beautiful location and fantastic lodge. We will definitely be returning! :)
Customer 148 from Taunton (08 May 2017)

We stayed at upton lakes pet friendly cabin. I can truly say it's the best uk holiday we have had. We wanted and peaceful break with the dogs but didn't imagine it to be as beautiful as it was. The cabin was modern, clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub was great, especially in the evening. There were some lovely walks to take the dogs on. We will definitely be returning.
Tracy from Bournemouth (05 May 2017)
