Customer reviews

These are the reviews for Ty Mawr. There are 150 reviews.

Accomodation good and perfect for the 'break' we were looking for. Site could possibly do with a few more facilities to appeal to older clients. Putting green/crazy golf etc. Only thing that spoiled the week was the weather (cloudy and windy) but obviously that is beyond your control.
Frank from Chester (30 September 2016)

I liked the site, the staff were friendly and helpful and I would be happy to stay there again. However I did not like much where the site was located. I would not choose to visit again for that reason. just not for me, although I think others will be happy there. the site itself had just about everything you could ask for at reasonable prices. the caravan was a bronze and I think this reflected that the uphostlery could do with a thorough clean. apart from that the rest ws clean and comfortable. as with most reviews people have different opinions and I would hope that anyone planning a visit will decide for themselves.
Kenneth from Tamworth (30 September 2016)

Everything on site, beach close by, would recommend
Laura (23 September 2016)

Great value for the money. Site very clean and well looked after.
Robin from Wokingham (23 September 2016)

Nice caravan, the staff were wonderful, very helpful. The entertainment is probably more suited for young families. We are a couple in our 40's and took my 80 year old mother!
Wendy (23 September 2016)

I have taken a holiday at ty mawr every year for the last 4 years and I am looking forward to my holiday there next year.
Mark from Dukinfield (16 September 2016)

Great staff and altered the entertainment as not many people there mainly tiny tots played prize games for the adults, niece sang on the kareoki all good fun.
Stephen from Stoke On Trent (10 September 2016)

Inside the caravan was dirty with dust and dog hair, nothing had been washed up, it also had fleas! curtain rails were hanging off, I opened a draw in the bedroom and the front fell on my foot, general repairs needed doing. Even tho we was 5th in the queue at the onsite chippy we had to wait an hour for our food. Ordered twice from the onsite restaurant (boat house) on both occasions there was food missing. Staff are generally rude and not interested. Only went to the pool once because it was cramped, slide was closed because adults weren't supervising their kids. Only went to the night time entertainment once because it was just too loud.
Michelle from Warwickshire (03 September 2016)

Pool was too overcrowded and my little girl got poorly after coming out the pool and the caravan was a bit small but other than that a good holiday park
Caroline (02 September 2016)

Had a great time, great location and value for money
Natalie from Bolton (02 September 2016)

I came for a short break with my daughter and grandson and we had a great time the facilities are fantastic, the pool the play area and the entertainment are fabulous.
Susan from Lancashire (02 September 2016)

Caravan was awful, blinds broken, no sheets or duvet covers for pull out bed, gas cooker not fully working, only one key between 8, mattresses so uncomfortable we had back ache and nothing for teenagers to do.
Louise from London (02 September 2016)

Outdoor play centre was really good but the pool and changing facilities were overcrowded and very dirty. Also, the van we stayed in was dated. We only paid for a bronze standard but the shower was broken and the furniture had holes in.
Barry (02 September 2016)

Great holiday lovely site and facilities. Staff helpful and fun. Maintenance service and maintenance staff excellent. Need more changing rooms poolside.
Dawn from Swansea (29 August 2016)

Excellent holiday park with good facilties onsite and locally including an asda about 1/2 mile away. there is a good bus service outside with regular buses to ryhl and llandudno. The caravan are excellent with good rooms, fridge, modern bathrooms and tv's.
David from Soton (29 August 2016)

High scores reflected in fact that am returning 26th october for one week.
Roy from Sutton In Ashfield (29 August 2016)

The accommodation was okay, but a bit dated and nothing special. The swimming pool was very crowded and also didn't feel very clean. The staff at the fish and chip shop on site were very unprofessional and took a long time to make our food and when we did get it it wasn't cooked properly.
Andrea from Preston (26 August 2016)

1st - dirty pots in caravan . 2nd - hot water went off twice during are stay . 3rd - grill wasn't working . 4th - sofa fell through
Sophie from Manchester (22 August 2016)

Fantastic
Maria from Blackpool (15 August 2016)

A good holiday park, which is kept clean and in an excellent location. We did not hear any trouble or noise at night. The kids play park is good and they do offer a selection of activities, for different ages, but like most parks I have experienced they are not as good as holiday parks in the 90s when a wider selection was offered and included in the price. Although ty mawr is one of the better ones I have experienced as an adult. Some activities only lasted a half hour and often started around the same time the pool opened in the morning, so you either went to the pool or the activity and fought to get a locker at the pool afterwards. The swimming pool (again similar to my other experiences) is the biggest let down for the park, yet is often the main attraction for kids. It is too small to accommodate the number of guests at peak season and is not open until 10 on most days (reserved for residents 9-10 unless an aqua baby session is on - only two per week starting at 9.30). I have a toddler up at 8 and want to be able to get up and out to use a pool early before being able to enjoy other activities you have to queue to get in the pool, to get a locker (if you don't get in there sharp) and to use a changing room (there are only about 8), which is not good if you are standing about cold with a cold toddler. The park appears to rely on guests coming to and from their caravan in their swimwear and towel. this is the only reason the pool queues were not entirely chronic. There are no baby facilities. You have nowhere to place your baby (like local pools a changing table or seat they can be strapped into) and therefore need to bring their buggy in with you to the changing room. There are only 3 showers and on one count around 200 people in the pool. I cannot comment on the entertainment in the evening as we did not use it but I know they had chicco and bobby davro on. The amusement should change their 2p machines so kids do not lose their prize down a hole at the last minute. that is quite shameful! a cheap key ring or packet of sweets they play for and if they go off to one side, lost down a hole it goes! despite my negative comments, I like the park, the staff are friendly and the chip shop is priced like your local. There are other take aways and a bar across the road and tir prince isn't far or the asda, if driving or getting the bus.
Jacqueline (13 August 2016)

Fantastic place to stay all staff were great and very helpful! only reason for 9 on facilities is service washes would make it perfect!!
Ray (13 August 2016)

Took the family to the swimming pool. Chaotic is probably the best word to describe the experience far to many people in the pool and still more came in whilst we were there so we got out because it was not enjoyable. The next experience was no better it was so crowded around the cubicles and lockers we just wrapped towels around us and walked back to the caravan in the rain. We payed £13:99 for the wifi that was not very good .the majority of the time it kept breaking up .a waste of money!!
Robert (12 August 2016)

The bar staff need to get in line with the rest of the park staff, smile, liven up,and enjoy it the way other staff do. Food in the boathouse was never spot on despite it being premium price . so let's get food cooked well, not burnt, or under cooked. The amounts correct and the actual'order spot on. . also lets get the caravans ready when they are supposed to be. However site was spotlessly clean, well presented and had lots to,do.
Terry from Tamworth (08 August 2016)

Good value for money the bar staff could do with more training had to wait a while for a drink and young bar tender seemed a bit unsure of what he had to do but kids loved it and so did the adults entertainment was good plenty to do and 5 minutes from the sea I would recommend
John from London (06 August 2016)

Family really enjoyed, lovely sized caravan. Clean and tidy
Gwyn (06 August 2016)

The centre lacks a soft ball play area for toddlers. The drinks a far too overpriced. The place is very clean and our grandchildren love it here. Their main attraction is auntie sean who is part of the entertainment team.
Thomas from Manchester (01 August 2016)

Had a fantastic holiday
Jeanette from Oldham (01 August 2016)

Resort staff were lovely couldnt be more helpfull friendly and engaging with my child. Staff in the chip shop on the one night we visited it were appalling. Possibly the rudest service ive ever had. Cant really blame the resort for that though. The area is stunning with so much to do in the area and this is a marvellous place to base yourself for a holiday.
Greg from South Shields (01 August 2016)

A very good experience
Customer 29 (01 August 2016)

It is good value for money. However, the indoor swimming pool is small and too crowded. The play ground is quite nice though. There are too many caravan sites in the area. There is not much to see in the area unless if you want to drive a bit further. The staff are helpful.
Harry from Wirral (30 July 2016)

Holiday kits self ok accommodation could have been better for price we paid.
Denise from Leicester. (30 July 2016)

We had a great holiday. The only problem we had was that the bingo was on so early. The first night we went out we thought it was a bit rude how we were spoken to when asked to keep the kids off the dance floor while bingo was on. My 2 year old nephew was only next to the table and a member of staff came over and said can you keep him quiet. That is very hard with a toddler. Other than that the kids loved having fun with the team stars.
Jemma from Manchester (30 July 2016)

Not enough hospitality staff. Only used facilities once. Too many people and not enough space to accommodate them all. Restaurant and drinks over priced.
Karl from Birkenhead (30 July 2016)

A good holiday destination.first time on a caravan holiday, really enjoyed it.kids 10 and 11 loved the place and would definitely would go back again.north wales was beautiful and there was so much to do.the only negative thing for me was the pool,we only went the once as it was overcrowded ,nowhere to dress and the waiting time for the slide was ridiculously long.i would also recommend the people should be allowed swim in the evening.
Colm from Ireland (29 July 2016)

The caravan was brand new but was missing things oven glove coat hooks sanitary bins. The chippy staff where very chirpy and we loved the open air cinema, but most of the staff were miserable. The music at night was too loud not everyone wants to go into the club and I certainly don't want to have to listen to loud music when i'm trying to settle down for the night. The showers wouldn't stay on I don't know anyone that can wash there hair with one hand.
Dawn (25 July 2016)

On arrival we could not go to our caravan as it was very dirty the staff were very helpful and cleaned the carpet but could not clean the furniture so put clean sheets over it so we could sit down. the accommodation's manager was very helpful and tried to move us but as it was such a busy week nothing was available. I do not know under any circumstances how this could have been classed as a gold caravan. sorry never thought of taking a photo.
Stanley from Liverpool (25 July 2016)

A very enjoyable stay. Staff I would give a 12 +. position of van was excellent & very clean another 12+. the site was very clean & looked after 12+. 2 very minor points. . on approach the 1st sign you see for the site is on your right, but is actually a no entry, staying in the protected right hand lane after 400/500 yds brings you to the main entrance, . perhaps a sign pointing to the right entry would be good, the 3rd car behind us tried to go that way only to have to do a several point turn to get back out. 2nd point, cooking equipment for 6 would have been very challenging to use, the only frying pan had a max of 3 eggs capacity, no oven tin other than the very small grill pan, or a very small oven glass dish, to achieve a cooked breakfast for 6 you will need to be inventive. Biggest disaster no bottle opener (wine) we bought one & left it for future caravan'ers.
Jimmy from Shrewsbury (15 July 2016)

Both myself and my kids enjoyed our stay at ty mawr and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the site to my friends and hopefully will be visiting again soon.
Lee from Cannock (11 July 2016)

Platinum caravan ok. Dread to think what the lower categories would be like. The site was quite chavvy and the only entertainment I saw was bingo.
Customer 39 from Leeds (11 July 2016)

Absolutely brilliant
Jermaine from Bolton (04 July 2016)

Very good caravan, fitted out for disabled even though we are not disabled. Restaurant did not have food available late, it was in the childrens entertainment area, and even though england football match was live on tv the sound was turned off!. another entertainment area did not appear to be open on the last weekend in june.
Patrick from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (01 July 2016)

Hampered by rainfall bad drainage round caravan large pools of water left for all our stay. Apart from that very good caravan/club/amenities. rob.
Robert from Liverpool (01 July 2016)

Hollie (01 July 2016)

Tracey (27 June 2016)

The caravan was supposed to be a gold standard van but the double bed looked and felt like it was 25 years old you could feel the springs through the material covering it was that worn I had to cover it with a spare quilt from the wardrobe also not a single cushion on the sofa area if this was gold I would not like to see a bronze caravan very dissapointed I told the office staff as I was leaving.
Peter from Newcastle U Lyme (20 June 2016)

Very good site but no entertainment although we went to the venue no member of staff approached us to say the entertainment was cancelled they just let us sit there for 1 hour. P robinson
Robinson from Bridlington (17 June 2016)

Lights not working in caravan and no sheets but staff informed and problem resolved. When showered leaking under caravan problem also sorted. Bingo, arcades, pool and entertained good. Not to many ques like butlins

Not much activities for kids. . swimming pool very small to many people in the swimming pool at the same time. None of the shower were working properly.
Mahmud from Bolton (30 May 2016)

Bronze was basic but fine for a few nights. Think if I was going for a week I would upgrade the accommodation. Park itself was good with plenty to keep my 5 year old happy.
Gail from Stoke-On-Trent (30 May 2016)

Even though we couldn't use much of the facilities within the park owing to the fact that we were busy touring local attractions but the children's park was good and the holiday park itself towards the front was definitely nice. I would love to go back as long as I get an accommodation towards the front of the holiday park near the park facilities.

Enjoyed our holiday, was disappointed the entertainment was in the bar mon to thurs in the evenings and was very diluted compared to the weekend.the food in the bar was nice but would have like some healthier options, but overall was a good week.the other thing I thought wasn,t good was in the pool they were painting the stairs to the slide one day so couldn't use it.surely this should have been done when pool was closed or b4 start of the season, also the cleaning of the pool was done when people were using the pool.not good in my opinion.

We had a brilliant time . only issues were lack of accessible changing facilities my family in another van had a baby and we had terrible issues. . seating in the evenings was horrendous staff did support us on a couple of occasions but they were not happy about it. Our van was lovely we would come back if we were given a good discount
Karen from Wigan (11 April 2016)

Caravan park is in great location for touring round north wales with bus stop right at the entrance. Found all staff to be friendly and helpful. Chippy was good. Supermarkets close by. Lovely new caravan. Internet extra but only around 14 pounds for 3 days for all the kids kindles. kids loved it and will go again.

I enjoyed our break but was very understaffed and over crowded. The pool was not open long enough to facilitate the amount of people on the site. Also events onsite struggled to cope with the amount of people there. We weren't happy with breakfast at the boat house was advertised one price and paid differently because they added extras on which wasn't clear in advertising do was rather over priced. The location in was quite isolated with a lot of traffic and conjestion only a few 100 yards away from the site which made venturing to local attractions difficult. This included getting to the local hospital and asda which were only a few miles away

Too close together, pool opening very limited. Caravan could have been cleaner. requests to fix broken dvd player actioned on the third time of asking. map to locate was a photocopy which did not show the lettering, therefore not easy to locate on arrival. Once there opened pack and saw original map which was quite clear. Bar had run out of most drinks, this lost you revenue as we simply went elsewhere. stayed ty mawr gold, wouldn't want to see bronze. Gold in my opinion although not worthy of a gold title was worth the extra cost (which to be fair was small) as some caravans looked very dated but only if other parks not available. Stayed at many park resorts and have been a fan, but this was not one of the best. However public areas very clean and staff very polite.

Most staff rude, maintenance vans going far too fast around site
Richard (23 October 2015)

Disappointed in local area. May have been time of low season but lots of closed shops/entertainment. Places that were open were very expensive e.g. Seaquarium. . . pool on site was only open til 5 which meant with 2 swimming mad kids we had to cut short day trips to get to pool. Also none of featured aqua activities were available. Kids were very disappointed in seeing posters everywhere for things they couldn't do. . . restaurant was hit or miss. Sent back food on 2 occasions - one where hair was found in sour cream and another when the rest of meal didn't show up! entertainment was good until the last night, unfortunately I don't think a magician's family friendly show should involve jokes about prostitutes. . staff were mainly professional and polite although the amount on security on site when we arrived was unnerving.

The first caravan we stayed in had a wasp infestation. I had paid for a silver caravan but was disappointed with how old the van was, it looked over 10 years old, no central heating and only single glazed windows with one of the windows in the bedroom not closing properly. It was what I would have expected for a bronze package, definitely couldn't sleep 6 comfortably either. We got moved 2 days into our stay due to the wasp infestation, the staff were really helpful and apologetic about it. The second caravan was beautiful and in a whole different league to the first we stayed in. The facilities on site were good but the takeaway was shut unfortunately. It was very noisy at weekend as we were right near the club house, you could hear the sound system over the tv. despite having to move caravans, we still made the best of our holiday for our wedding anniversary. I would recommend paying for a top of the range caravan to avoid being disappointed.

Staff were very helpful and polite. they did a fabulous job with the little ones in the evening, although our children were older we were impressed with their enthusiasm and dedication in engaging all ages. the location was great, easy access to the motorway to visit places on our list. our boys were 10 and 12 and they enjoyed the swimming and the football/sports area. our kids had a great time and that made us happy.
Susan from March (31 August 2015)

Great family holiday, the only downfall was that there wasn't enough changing rooms at the pool. Maybe a few extra tables at the sands bar would have been good, however you expect a couple of niggles. Overall an amazing place to stay for families great entertainment and helpful staff in a good location.

The fact that I had to clean the caravan before we could unpack did not start the hoilday of to a good start. and there was not a lot of room considering it was a 8 berth. not made for 8 adults. I ask for a upgrade. But nothing was available

Every one enjoyed their stay at ty mawr, staff were helpful and friendly. We went on the dog walk with member of staff who was friendly and helpful. Down side we stayed for two weeks and I asked for clean bedding after the first week, but was told no.
Andrea from Stockport (29 August 2015)

The facilities were great and so was the entertainment. Although the entertainment was so much for focused on the little children and are not good for the teenagers. The caravan wasn't too nice. Dirty and had a smell about it. Needs re-doing and updating. The couches felt old and dirty to the point where I didn't want to sit on them. The bed in the larger bedroom had a dip in it and wasn't nice to sleep on at all. The caravan was very small, so difficult to move around in it especially the bedrooms. We wouldn't stay here again. But still a cheap holiday. The price in the shop was pretty reasonable and had most things you needed. Thr chip shop was closed for some reason but there is a lovely one accross the road (would highly recommend this one). staff were good. The on site restaurant served nice food, although most of the time they missed out putting things on the plates and missed sauces on the sandwiches etc.

Had a great holiday! nice site, very clean and tidy great position for exploring local area. Kids (5 yrs & 19 months) loved the playground and the pool (which was perfectly clean to say it was so busy) we'd have liked more for the toddler though to be honest, maybe a soft play area would've been nice, perhaps the site is more suited to older kids. The sports courts were a good idea too. . the gold caravan was a good size, unexpected en-suite was a bonus! it was very basic though, but clean. we only used the facilities in the evening once, had a meal in the boathouse which was very reasonable. We were going to go in the club room after but it was heaving, we couldn't get near! noticed it was less busy other nights though. all in all i'd recommend this site.

The camp facilities and where it is situated are very good as are the staff. On the whole I feel the caravans are nice, however the level of cleanliness can sometimes be below the expected level. I believe this to be due to the amount of time/no.of caravans cleaners are expected to deal with.
Tina from Hindley, Wigan (24 August 2015)

A great holiday in august 2015 we stayed in a silver caravan be aware there is not much storage space, so we had to put our empty suitcases back in the car. . friendly team in the club house. Late night entertainment was good. . . my 10 year old enjoyed the sand art and pottery sessions. . loads to do in the local area, the park is in a really good position.
Nicola from Hockey, Essex (24 August 2015)

Enjoyed our stay, good location. park well looked after. good facilities for children. entertainment excellent.
Margaret from Liverpool (24 August 2015)

Had a great weekend away, the park was great had everything we could of needed. The club of an evening had everything, bingo and games for adults and a great show with great people for the kids. It was a little expensive for 3 nights but you do get a lot for what you pay, accommodation, pool aces and all the facilities of the club was brilliant. I would definitely recommend ty mawr and we will definitely be returning.
Kevin from St. Helens (24 August 2015)

Our caravan was clean. At night it was extremely noisy preventing all our party from sleeping. . the pool was filthy and no one wished to return to it after the first visit. . the facilities were very dated and tired. The location was not picturesque in any way and the beach completely impractical. .. no mention of ever having to cross a bridge to use it - impossible with a wheelchair! . north wales is fantastic but rhyl and the site is not.

Elizabeth from Pontypool (15 August 2015)

Dogs on site need to be cleaned up after. . main lounge area needed fresh air . pool needed to be cleaner/tidier. Changing area in/out access and cleanliness. Add more chorine to give some comfort , germs being attacked.. on site food was expensive for quality . appreciate can't control, but towyn centre needed a freshen up !
Patrick from Stourbridge (15 August 2015)

Pool facilities poor, children's play area poor.
Confirmed Holidaymaker (15 August 2015)

Dirty caravan very disappointed with this gold caravan.bags of used sheets and pillow cases left at the end of the decking all week. Sounds of swearing and thudding of footballs being kicked immediately behind van.
