Run down park, no food choice, expensive shop, no beer for 3 days as we were there for 4, no running activities, lack of communication and unhelpful staff with a manager who never smiles he may of eaten one of his own dinners.
Fiona from Kendal (28 October 2017)

We had a good time. The local area has lots to offer if you like the outdoors.
Charlie from South Lakes (27 October 2017)

The only reason why I said I won't come back, is our caravan was dirty, damp and damaged which ruined it . . the first time we went we had a lovely caravan
Alison from Bolton (27 October 2017)

Nice place but along way from towns
Sarah from York (27 October 2017)

Holiday was excellent every thing for the children and we had a disabled lady with us we stayed in a don caravan very clean and all facilities where great caravan number 32 cumbrian view would stay here again we went in to dumfries and also coco bean chocolate factory that was great all in all a great time had by all
Ian from Liverpool (27 October 2017)

Caravan and site were lovely and clean. all staff very pleasant and helpful. location is remote but ideal if you want a quiet break or younger children who love exploring the beach and rock pools. softplay and pool are great facilities. going to book another break soon.
Catherine from Newcastle (27 October 2017)

Thoroughly enjoyed our time away from normal work life loved waking up with a view of the beach, total bonus:) thought the bar and restaurant were very pricey, local nisa shop was not stocked very well at all and local shops were 30mins away in car. lovely clean park would defo return. kids loved swimming pool and flume and even had a go at inflatable (extra cost £5 per person) was great to watch everyone fall in, lifegaurds couldn't fault, but felt were not good with the flume kids were left when to go down on own completley unsupervised a certain times.
Terri from Ashington (27 October 2017)

Me and my family loved the lodge we had, the only constructive criticism is our full time there we couldn't get the kids in the pool because of how busy it was n the times you have to wait to get in. Everything else was amazing but wish the kids could have got a chance to go into the pool.
James (27 October 2017)

Not enough staff on for the october week
Brian from Glenboig (20 October 2017)

Caravan dirty, seating area was faulty as board below cushion was broken, toilet leaking, complex stunk of damp, pool very dirty tiles slimy insufficient staff on shift so theydidnt open flumes kids were disappointed.
Kay from Crocketford (20 October 2017)

Our holiday at southerness was good, apart from the caravan we got was stinking of damp cloth in toilet, checked everywhere but no cloth found,i think a previous holidaymaker must have flushed a cloth or towel down toilet that got stuck in pipe, bought a bottle of bleach to get rid of smell. My granddaughter loved the kids club, and the swimming pool, soft play and all other amusements. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. We will go back again next summer.
Karen from Ardrossan (20 October 2017)

Fantastic base as loads to do in area. Lovely caravan ( clyde) very slow service but good enough food in restaurant. slow bar service in club. Reception very friendly. soft play needs supervising. Decent amount of 2p and 10p games in puggies to keep kids fairly happy. Pool ok but swimmers being out for 5.45 is a nuisance when using site as a base for days out
Lynsey from Irvine (20 October 2017)

My husband ,our jack russell dog and I enjoyed our 4 days holiday in october. Our caravan was basic but was ok. The restaurant was is large and nice decor.the food was good. No complaints at all. The only minor thing was the net curtain had a hole in it.
Susan from Wigan (06 October 2017)

1st time to this site and will definitely be back there again next year. a really nice quiet site, and enjoy the bingo nightly and like the amusements, enough for 2 oap's. good for kids too having the climbing frames low down. They don't come to any harm. lovely well kept site and clean, also well laid out. Lovely countryside around and nice clean fresh air.
Sheana from Bo'Ness (06 October 2017)

Had a great time. The caravan stood up well to the terrible weather.
Rachel from Dumfries (02 October 2017)

So great a holiday with good location, spotlessly clean caravan. Great facilities for adults and children!
Customer 16 from Midlothian (02 October 2017)

We got a great deal on the clunie lodge, so spacious and lovely furnishings and facilities. Lovely to see activities are atill scheduled during term time. our 3yr old loved the pool and water kayakes, matthew in the leisure club was 1st class
Elaine from Falkirk (29 September 2017)

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in september. Weather was beautiful. Caravan park is wonderfully maintained
Mary from Cupar (29 September 2017)

Great place and staff lovely. Our caravan tp/19 was not very clean at all - wad actually quite smelly. Had we been staying longer than a weekend we would've asked to be moved but we just cleaned it ourselves. . shame the caravan let it down really as it's a great park and we'd go back and hopefully get a nicer caravan.
Patricia (25 September 2017)

Absolutely loved your park and hoping to come back next year. The staff where fantastic but maybe there could have been more as waiting time at the bar was a bit long at times.
Ross (18 September 2017)

Enjoyed our holiday, couple of faults,1of which 4pm access is a bit late when you have young children & the grill on the cooker did not work.
Rebecca from Kilmarnock (18 September 2017)

The only complaint was caravan was freezing and towel rail dinot work properly either.
Michelle from Stoneyburn (15 September 2017)

Absolutely brilliant!
Poppy from Bispham (15 September 2017)

Caravan was very past it used by date and it was really dirty. while superficially looked clean if looked beyond surface was disgusting. the bathroom was grotty. the furniture in living area had strips of the laminate top covering ripped off. it was so bad I couldn't put up with it and left the date earlier . we put duvets on seats to sit on as seats were so bad. smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. with caravan I have ever stayed in . if this caravan reflects the others on this site this is why I would not return
Sharon from Northumbria (11 September 2017)

Park is great not massive not much on it but for us was perfect! we are a family of 3 child under 3 and enough for her to do and some lovely walks!. defo go back!. caravan was fine not perfect but clean and perfect for long weekend!
Michelle from Ayrshire (11 September 2017)

The park was lovely and the location was beautiful, right on the beach the views were fantastic. However you are quite a drive away from supermarkets and the main town of dumfries. The caravan was quite dated and had a damp smell. In saying this overall we had a nice time at southerness.
Stephanie from Haddington (08 September 2017)

Staff were not friendly caravan wasn't clean bathroom hadn't been cleaned
John from Glasgow (08 September 2017)

Did not receive what was requested. Caravan dirty location to amenities to far staff not sympathetic
Robert (04 September 2017)

Lovely site bit of a trek to nearest town but scenery great
Beverley from Evesham Worcs (02 September 2017)

I would go here again for a cheap break ,pool was great, inside play area was good you can have a drink/food while the kids play. Lovely restaurant food was nice 70% of the time but they seem to be short staffed so slow. Well stocked shop. Caravan was cleanish and had everything that we needed, but telly signel was rubbish no bbc and others. Beach was full of dogs mess. Lots of traveling to days out. Cream o galloway, dino land dumfries and other places to visit so in the car a lot. We went the last week of august so scottish schools had gone back.
Carly from Carmarthen (02 September 2017)

Excellent park. Will be returning. Endless beaches, nature reserves, castles, heritage sites within driving distance or you could spend a full week just on the park. Lovely pub call the steamboat nearby for dinner. Would recommend and we will be returning.
Hayley (02 September 2017)

The young maintenance man was great he came about the washerdryer got the details came back within 20 minutes you need to keep this chap he came back to us again another day to make sure we were alright we still never mastered the dryer though just to let you know we seen some leaks under the lodge
Ivor from Plymouth (01 September 2017)

Absolutely fantastic place very friendly staff especially lifeguard jordan, the caravan and site were beautiful plenty to keep us occupied would definitely recommend
Jackie from West Yorkshire (01 September 2017)

Nice park, great pool, good extra activities run by lifeguards, evening entertainment bog standard bloke dressed as seagull stuff, not brilliant to be fair, just watch bar prices as they seem to be on a lotto system we paid 8 different prices for the same drinks, got fed up of arguing with bar staff, coast restaurant poor, very slow lacklustre staff, wetherspoons style food at bumped up prices, . my advice ask for receipts for bar, enjoy the pool area, lovely staff there, security in entertainment complex also very lovely, nice arcade area and nice play area. Nisa shop on site pretty good and not too overpriced
Clare from Wakefield (01 September 2017)

Very disappointed with the location we enjoyed the holiday because we were able to go out in the car
Sheila from Gateshead (01 September 2017)

First time taken our pet to parkdean resort. Been going to park dean for a few years now but must say this was the worst accommidation that we have stayed in the caravan had chew marks everywhere front door had been chewed and struggled to lock it, van had not been cleaned properly hairs food wrappers stains. We also could not wash in the morning as I had to turn of the gas boiler off as coukd smell gas and there were signs of leakage and the pilot flame was yellow/orange in colour not the blue it was ment to be and could not find an upto date service/landlord certificate which is normaly there with boiler. Then finaly fixed a few of the problems light not working in toilet new pilot assembly fitted( not sure if this would have been done if I had not said I was a gas safe engineer) van cleaned was better but not brilliant. Things with the van kept not working properly like gas fire not lighting cooker all loose and no adjustment on oven temp. In the end we just had to use it as a base for sleeping in so not the best experiance at all long journey there to be spoilt by the state of our caravan. I know we had a dog which we paid extra for I still expect to have a caravan of the same standard with ir without a pet. I did email parkdean on the monday after getting back but still am waiting for a reply. Worst ever holiday we have had.
Angela from Bury St Edmunds (01 September 2017)

I have older children.park not really suited to them . day activities. age 11 and 15.
Natasha from Coventry (01 September 2017)

Lovely last minute holiday for bank hol. Caravan like new, very clean, friendly staff, more entertainment than thought. Felt safe on site. Some nice walks and beaches near by. Lovely x
Allana (28 August 2017)

Stayed in the rio caravan. It was clean and tidy on arrival but did have a funny smell, which we think might be from people cooking curry. also the oven knob was broken and kept falling off. The club entertainment was very good and staff are friendly. We didn't eat on site, so can't comment there but there is a restaurant and a small burger bar in the club house. The beach isn't suitable for swimming and sandcastles but it's lovely for walking. Also this site is pretty much in the middle of know where so a car is advisable.
Angela from London (25 August 2017)

Southerners is very nice, peaceful place 30 minutes from civilisation and 15 minutes from sandy beach. Overall myself and my family enjoy the stay.
Marcin from Burton On Trent (25 August 2017)

Great holiday just a shame the 8 birth caravans are so small! there was only 4 of us but very costraphobic! wouldn't go again for that reason
John from Lancashire (25 August 2017)

The caravan was very clean and modern. We had a few little niggles which were sorted out immediately without any hassle. The pool and bar were great and food brilliant. The area is very remote and not much in the village so my older kids were bored. the beach area was not wheelchair friendly and the sea was miles out the whole time so kids didn't get to go in. That said it was brilliant for long walks along in both directions and the scenery was lovely. very peaceful and relaxing.
Lisa from Durham (21 August 2017)

We found there wasnt enough to do in the local area for our daughter. I think it was just a bit too remote. Also we went for breakfast one day on site and found that no-one was ready to start serving at 9am and when my coffee tasted like soap from the cleaning cycle of the costa machine the staff were unapologetic. Also found entertainment in evening more geared for older children and minimal characters apart from the photo.
Camilla from Stoke-On-Trent (21 August 2017)

Last minute booking, caravan clean except for couches. facilities good for children. take plenty money. kids wanted to play in the amusements and you have to pass through the amusements to get anywhere. overall relaxing time.
Ann from Troon (18 August 2017)

Really good value caravan, kids loved the pool, lot's of lovely places nearby - in spite of the positives this place was not really to our taste - doubt we'll come back but probably right up other people's street. At this price it's worth a try!
Thomas from Sheffield (18 August 2017)

Great holiday. Evening entertainment was brilliant. Definitely will be back here.
Louise (18 August 2017)

Very pleased but a shame how far it was to the nearest town
Rhiann (14 August 2017)

Really lovely, clean site with lots to do. Bar service a little slow and restaurant even worse but overall a great holiday
Gemma (14 August 2017)

Had a amazing time with family will definetly be going back next year there was so much to do for all ages
Robert from Beith (14 August 2017)

I was very pleased with accommodation. We use the swimming pool regularly and we went for some toddler morning activities as well. All the staff was very nice and helpful.
Emilia from Birmingham (12 August 2017)

Southerness hoseseasons holiday camp is ideal for those who want a relaxing, steady paced holiday in beautiful surroundings. On site there are plenty of things to do such as swimming, spend time in the arcades, little ones (up to 8yrs old) can play in the indoor soft play area, grab a bite to eat in the restaurant or onsite takeaway or simply spend the evening chilling out watching a show. If you are the more outdoor adventurous type then there is plenty of coastal or countryside walks along with wildlife trails and historical buildings to explore or let the children play on one the many outdoor play areas in the park. Scattered around southerness are little towns and villages that make a nice day out or go to one of many designated attraction sites such as sweetheart abbey, dino land or mabie farm park. If you are not up for any of that then you can simply chill out in your caravan or lodge and watch tv or play cards. All in all, southerness itself is the ideal place to unwind with a friendly park atmosphere. Ideal for couples or families. The caravans themselves do have a lot to be desired however as ours was very dirty and elements of it were broken and had been poorly repaired. We used a u.v light on the seating area and it glowed up like a christmas tree - not exactly ideal for your children as they climb all over them.
Paul from Strood, Rochester (11 August 2017)

Nice caravan in good holiday village. Good facilities. Had to give fridge a clean on arrival
Gerard from Glasgow (11 August 2017)

Was a nice break away. Fairly busy. Shops inside southerness are expensive
Graham from Dundee (11 August 2017)

Very little for kids to do without dipping into your pockets, soft play is at the back of the arcade area, in fact you cannot go into the entertainment or restaurant areas without passing through the noisy arcade, so the kids will hit you to want to spend money in the machines. Outdoor adventure play area is tiny compared to the size of the site, so the arcade takes precedent. Food service in the restaurant took nearly an hour and a half to bring to table, not sure if they have staffing issues, all seems very disorganised. The site is otherwise fantastic, well maintained and caravan was lovely, just a shame about the entertainment complex being the way it is.
Stephen from West Scotland (11 August 2017)

We found the southerness park an absolute delight and it was far beyond our expectations. . the site was very well maintained, clean and the staff very helpful
Jim from Skelmersdale (05 August 2017)

We had an enjoyable stay however our caravan was not cleaned to high spec we found the underwear of the previous person in the bedroom, wine glasses were dirty as were bowls and some of the other kitchen items. We did report this to staff but nothing was done. We also asked if we could move to a van with a deck we would have paid extra but were told none avaliable but the van beside us with a deck lay empty all week!
Kay from Port Glasgow (04 August 2017)

The caravan we stayed in was lovely and very comfortable, the grounds around the site were very well maintained and very clean, the facilities from the shop to the swimming pool to the arcade were all brilliant, great place for adults and kids, they cater so well for the kids, I really enjoyed my time there and so did the rest of my family, looking forward to going back next year
John from Mossbank Shetland (04 August 2017)

Staff verry good and helpful, entertainment excellent, prices at shop very expensive, overall very good, restaurant very poor, not eneough staff,to slow, food was not always cooked enough
Steven (04 August 2017)

Lovely caravan just wasn't cleaned
Michelle from Thornhill (31 July 2017)

We had a great time at southerness, facilities are really good, location is lovely and the surrounding areas give you lot's of choice for days and nights out. Staff were very good with the exception of a few standing around doing nothing, it was quite busy at night and not a lot of staff on the bar area, the staff that were on had to work really hard and I think it must have been supervisors that stood about spinning there keys and distracting the guys who were actually working. All in all though we had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning. James and laura
James from Glasgow (31 July 2017)

Pleasantly surprised at what was on offer on the park. Entertainment excellent, the inhouse "troupers" sometimes surpassed the visiting shows! good range and quality of visiting entertainer with something for everyone. Grandchildren greatly enjoyed their time which made it more restful for us "oldies"!
Margaret (31 July 2017)

Alot of hidden extra such as pool activities. Pool was far to busy for the size of it. Onsite cash machine had not been in service for 2 weeks prior to our visit and onsite shop does not offer cashback. Very expensive holiday
Nicole from Kilmarnock (29 July 2017)

On paper this place looked great, just what we were looking for from a weekend away with the kids and the dog. However, the caravan we were given looked dated compared to the images of the model i'd booked online. Also, it stunk, really stunk and it was definitely urine. It took a good few hours with the windows open and regular sprays of air freshener to make it more comfortable. . there was also dust and dirt everywhere, plus rust around the radiators. Our caravan obviously hadn't been cleaned properly for quite some time and it was really disappointing. On a positive note the caravan felt spacious and the shower was brilliant! . the facilities were limited, particularly the onsite shop which lacked variety of stock and was over-priced as is standard for holiday parks. We did eat in the onsite restaurant and the food was good with decent portions, staff there were friendly and attentive too. I can't say the same for all the staff in the show bar though. One member of bar staff stood out as being arrogant and rude. I'd been waiting in the queue a while when a guy and his kids approached the bar avoiding the queue altogether, it was my turn so I approached the bar and started giving my order when this girl piped up "eh well you'll have to wait cos they've been waiting for ages". I told the man they'd just avoided the queue, but they were still served and had a nice little chat with her to boot which held everyone else up, i've a feeling they knew each other personally. . the entertainment acts were good, our kids loved sid and lizzie, and the staff did a brilliant job of getting kids involved. Overall, this is the kind of place that should cost half the price given it's location, limited facilities and standard of upkeep on the caravans. It's not a place I would rush back to.
David from Argyll (24 July 2017)

Enjoyed every minute we were there caravan was spotless staff very pleasant
Ann Marie from Glasgow (24 July 2017)

Really enjoyed our holiday, will come back next year
Kathleen from Ayr (21 July 2017)

The caravan site in itself was nice , clean
Andrew from Tullibody (17 July 2017)

Ok where to start ... resteraunt was more like canteen food and you had to wait far to long .. payed extra for wifi for kids and still could not get signals . dog dirt round caravans where owner never bothered lifting and this is not acceptedable and on one night I forgot our passes and the job worth of a security boy refused us access so I had to walk back to our caravan for them even thought we had a heavy rain shower just as we got there and we had no jackets
Brian from Biggar (17 July 2017)

Overall nice park. Great for kids. Would go back but upgrade to bigger caravan. Food service a little slow. Kids
Heather from Glasgow (10 July 2017)

An excellent holiday and the weather was really good as well.
Agnes from Southerness (08 July 2017)

Loved our caravan and also the location, reception team were all lovely but had an issue with anextremely rude lady one night when we wanted to get a take away. Also felt the shine was taken off our holiday as I bought an expensive blueray dvd and put it in the player on the morning we left to keep the kids entertained. When I called to ask for it to be returned no one could find it-a bit disappointing, but also when calling about this it was clear no one was interested in helping sort this out!
Mandy from East Kilbride (07 July 2017)

Enjoyable, but you definitely need a car as there is a limited bus service. Site very clean, staff very helpful, swimming pool clean and great for younger children and teens. Food in the restaurant much better than expected.
Alec from Falkirk (07 July 2017)

Great break away , really helpful staff and lodge was amazing. Great location and very clean
Robert from Kilmarnock (23 June 2017)

Family with elderly grandparent had a lovely holiday here. Caravan position was just as hoped with great sea view and easy access to the beach. Park was quiet and staff helpful and polite. Would love to visit again in the future.
Jacquelyn from Northumberland (03 June 2017)

Only reason I put some 9s was due to my location of the caravan but the caravan it's self was great, could do with more outside chairs as only had 2 for a caravan that sleeps 8, loved it so much I have booked for next year already
Tracey from Bathgate (29 May 2017)

I would recommend the area of southerness. The views were lovely, thoroughly enjoyed my walks along the beach, and as it was during term time- no screaming children to disurb the peace. The beach was clean and well signposted, giving you various options dependant on your mobility, as it can get quite rocky in areas. Hiking boots or wellies a must to enjoy the walks.
Helena from Shotts (19 May 2017)

Perfect location for a family getaway.
Pauline from Glasgow (15 May 2017)

Great mid week break
Kenneth from Sunderland (12 May 2017)

Our third trip to southerness was just as fab as the first two, so much so we have booked to return later this year & also next year we are bringing the family. Can't wait to be back there.
Roy from Ingleton (08 May 2017)

On arrival caravan looked nice, on inspection it was very dusty on tv and the surrounding area, inside freezer was bits of food, fridge door was dusty, heating didn't work, we reported it, a member of staff came to caravan, said it was the faulty, he turned up with an oil heater we never heard frm any staff for remainder of the holiday and heating was not fixed, I will not be back to stay at southerness.
Claire from Erskine (28 April 2017)

The good : had a pleasant stay , facilities ok , swimming pool cold on entering, life guards excellent ,décor in bar / eating area nice , food in eating area edible, all staff very nice , bedding good quality and clean . crockery cutlery pots and pans were clean on entering the caravan . . the bad :cleanliness of caravan ,on arriving we found - tooth paste on doors and walls in bedrooms ,kitchen and toilets .radiators in both toilets an absolute disgrace with rust , tomato sauce on table /leg, blackcurrant coloured juice on kitchen eating area floor, toothbrush , orange peel ,paper, crumbs ,food on /under cushions in all seating areas , sitting area cushions were ripped and torn ,curtains were hanging off the rails due to bad fittings, carpets in need of hovering , my daughter and I spent approx. 30 min cleaning the caravan before we could start to unpack ,while we loved the caravan layout our standard of clean and acceptable is vastly different from what we received , I did not complain as we had cleaned ourselves and removed what we found to be offending . . I would not return to this park as you only have 1 eating option on site and 1 just off site and due to location it is not suitable to have food/takeaway delivered on site
Linda (28 April 2017)

Great holiday. Caravan was gorgeous, everything was spotless and it was in a great location.
Susan from East Kilbride (24 April 2017)

Excellent customer service! the first caravan we were in was in disrepair, on informing staff we were quickly upgraded for the duration of our stay! good facilities and beautiful surroundings! will definitely be goin again.
Charlotte from Grimsby (24 April 2017)

Stayed in lochy caravan which I was really disappointed with very dirty and not what I was expecting, cleaners should be more particular when cleaning!! loved the site and facilities would go back but get better standard of accommodation and hope that the cleaners are better with newer model caravans
Kaz from Glasgow (24 April 2017)

Lovely site with an excellent pool, entertainment and children's entertainer. great indoor large soft play and two outdoor play areas. beautiful beach and rock pools for hours of fun!
Mammy (24 April 2017)

Really enjoyed our holiday. The swimming pool is super, and surrounding area lovely.
Karen from Fort William (21 April 2017)

I rate this a 7 because we had to wait over 2 hours to get our caravan keys which was very disappointing when we had young children that were tired and hungry from traveling
Elizabeth from East Yorkshire (21 April 2017)

Great place for families. Our 2 year old had a brilliant time. The location is good although due to the weather we unfortunately couldn't enjoy it to its full potential. We would definitely recommend to others.
Nicola from Edinburgh (17 April 2017)

Everything was either out of stock or out of order . food in restaurant is way overpriced for what you get . glad to be home .
Lorraine from Kilmarnock (14 April 2017)

Very little in terms of play parks for young children. Swimming pool and baby/toddler pool was very cold.
David from Glasgow (14 April 2017)

Lovely scenery. The pool got quite busy in the mornings and the change rooms were in need of a clean in the afternoons, which could have been improved if there was a policy of not allowing outdoor shoes past a certain point.
Colin from Montrose (07 April 2017)

Perfect holiday plenty to do for kids of all ages well done staff
Dawn from Maybole (07 April 2017)

Great cheap and cheerful holiday that kids and adults can both enjoy
Louise from Glasgow (07 April 2017)

We loves southerness staff and facilities are great
Clare (03 April 2017)

Lovely site..friendly staff, facilities fab, clean & tidy...& the scenery was lovely..mountains, beach & the countryside all mixed together :)
Lyndsey from Driffield (27 March 2017)

Had a great holiday with family and friends. Van was clean on arrival. No complaints. Would return
Lynne from Airdrie (26 September 2016)

Enjoyed everything about out holiday. Caravan smelled a bit though
Thomas from Kilmarnock (19 September 2016)

The site , caravans are lovely and clean my only gripe is I didn't like the fact the showers in the swimming pool were out where the pool is and not in changing rooms, also our caravan was new but lacked little things like bedside lighting or wall lights in lounge you had to have ceiling lights on but other than my personal thoughts we enjoyed our short stay thank you.
John (16 September 2016)

Great holiday with family of different ages. Would holiday here again
Anne Marie from Kilmarnock (12 September 2016)

Fantastic place to stay caravan was spotless park staff and facilities were spot on
Fiona from Pwrth (09 September 2016)

Fantastic family site, clean and welcoming. Friendly staff.
Tina from Lancaster (05 September 2016)

Caravan could have been looked after a little better, cupboard doors that did not close, cooker hob not cleaned properly, mould on bedroom curtains all little things but would go a long way to increase value for money. evening entertainment very poor, some of the parkdean troupers were shocking, as soon as they started their act the showbar emptied which was a shame because some of the booked acts on after them were very good. A member of the barstaff even asked my wife what she thought of them and then agreed that they were shocking and everyone was complaining about them. All in all a pleasurable holiday which could have been enhanced by a bit more attention for detail in the quality and cleanliness of the caravans and a better quality entertainment.
Andrew from Sunderland (03 September 2016)

All four of us had a great time and looking forward to 2018 going back again for our summer holiday.
Michael from Boroughbridge (03 September 2016)

Lovely time had by all in southerness.
Andrew from Lichfield (02 September 2016)

Amazing place lovely staff will def be back again
Lindsay from Lancaster (02 September 2016)

Lovely park with good facilities and great beach for long walks. Caravan itself was very tired though
Christopher (02 September 2016)

Worst holiday we have ever had
Heather from Bishop Auckland. County Durham (02 September 2016)

We loved the location; miles of beach for combing and exploring rockpools. plenty of things to see and do with the family; our favourite was cream o'galloway. Holiday park staff were excellent, especially the pool lifeguards who were really attentive, and the entertainments staff who put a lot of good humour into what must be a hard work at times!. useful shop with all you need and plenty of little things for spending pocket money on. The only downside was that a previous occupant of our caravan had put something awful in the bin leaving behind a smell which put us off spending much time in there.
Nick from Selby (26 August 2016)

Great children's entertainment but extremely unhelpful staff otherwise & unclean. . our caravan was extremely dirty, we had a blood stained mattress, dust, and a suspicious tobacco substance in our caravan, also a few items left by previous holiday makers including a pair of shorts in one of the bedrooms and by far the dirtiest kettle I have ever seen. We notified management who took some pictures and said they would be in touch about their complaints process , but unfortunately we are still waiting , and have yet to receive an apology
Claire (15 August 2016)

Lovely holiday!nice caravan site!beach ok more of an estuary though!staff were very helpful!!good entertainment!good for the kids dogs loved it as well!!
Jason from Lincolnshire (15 August 2016)

The holiday park it's self was perfectly satisfactory, but the area is a little uneventful. Having said that it was easy enough to get transport links to both edinburgh and glasgow, and we had really good day trips to both. . damien at the reception on the park went above and beyond to find us information on day trips, and we were most grateful for that. Clubhouse was clean and tidy, pool was okay, shop on site was well stocked. My only real complaint about the site was the location of the 'smoking area' at the clubhouse / swimming pool / restaurant entrance which included a dustbin / giant ashtray right in the middle of the doorway in. Our static caravan was perfectly comfortable, not entirely clean but acceptable.
Neil from Wiltshire (13 August 2016)

Nice clean caravan. Very pleasant staff. Good food in bar/restaurant. Could do with supervision in soft play area. Some older boys were a bit rough resulting in a blood spill and area closed. Parents probably in bar or bingo.
Gerard from Glasgow (12 August 2016)

Caravan was beautiful and very modern 3 bedrooms and plenty of space for me and the 4 children . park wasn't very busy and I liked that a lot . spotless park and venue and swimming was great .. loves it and it was a relaxing holiday for us . will return soon .
Claire from Glasgow (12 August 2016)

Has to be the worst holiday I have ever been on . dirty caravan .rip of prices and amenities shocking ,certainly will never be back and that's for sure
Gerard (08 August 2016)

Great time away for the whole family, only real disappointment was the food availability in the resteraunt where for the lat few days there was no availability of several fishes on an already small menu.
Andrew from Bathgate (05 August 2016)

Lovely holiday park. We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect for visiting the area. Great swimming pool, restaurant and bar area. Good food served and not expensive. Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely return here.
Sonia from Astley, Manchester (01 August 2016)

Enjoyed our family holiday to southerness. Loved our caravan. Location was abit far away from everything except the beach. Staff were friendly. Food on site was nice and reasonable prices.
Emma (30 July 2016)

Best holiday for a long time. Already booked for next year.
Maria from Preston (30 July 2016)

Decent. Lots of potential to put a little extra effort in to restaurant, bars, kids facilities, staff - none of which would break the bank, but all of which would have elevated the visit from "ok/average othing too exciting/few niggles but nothing awful" to something really enjoyable. Basic stuff: have a few more staff serving at bar/restaurant rather than have to wait up to 60mins for food (plenty of other staff around doing less important things - amusements, main desk, pottering in/out kitchen); slightly nicer food with a few more options; slightly nicer drinks with a few more options; slightly nicer/cleaner playground; few more activities for kids to participate in. We'd have spent a ton more cash if it had been a bit easier to do so.
Neil (29 July 2016)

Beds in tweed caravan bit disappointing but otherwise spacious and clean and loved everything else
Esther from Glasgow (29 July 2016)

Excellent holiday can't wait to return!
Nicola from Glasgow (25 July 2016)

Best holiday ever!! the staff are very polite and helpful caravan was spotless plenty to do and see the restaurant food is first class already booked up for next year would highly recommend
Jean from Dumfries (22 July 2016)

Well done to the star trooper team they kept kids very busy ad happy daily! pool was also a fab facility life guards very attentive and staff at pool desk always cheerful.
Anne from Perth (16 July 2016)

The swimming pool is excellent.the restaurant is very good.nice ambience, tasty food. The nisa shop is well stocked with friendly, helpful staff. We reported 4 things about the caravan to reception.only 1 was actioned.
Maureen from Glasgow (15 July 2016)

Lovely family holiday in a beautiful lodge with lots for kids to do.
Melissa from Edinburgh (15 July 2016)

A very nice holiday park with very good facilities. The swimming pool is a good size and our grandchildren loved it. At times however it can be a bit busy. Our grandchildren loved the starlander kids club and there was always something for them to do. The site has an excellent nissa shop and prices are very reasonable. We ate at the coast bar most nights and found the choice and quality of food to be very good. The restaurant and bar staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant.
Sandra from Dunfermline Fife (15 July 2016)

Very nice place to stay, and excelent clean caravan, staff very helpfull when water went off due to a burst pipe, I will stay there again.
Ian from Hawick (08 July 2016)

Caravan was lacking in many basics utensils. Had to ask for a dish to use in the microwave, tv had no remote control & none was available. Was awoken twice during one night by a car driving through the centre with loud music blaring at 2.30am & 6.30am. There is minimum wi-fi signal within the bar area and its nearly impossible to obtain a mobile phone signal anywhere in this area.
Susan from East Kilbride (01 July 2016)

Had a lovely relaxing week to be able to sit on the veranda and look at the sea is just what the doctor ordered
Sarah from Huddersfield (25 June 2016)

Excellent place for wandering on beaches etc but not much to do on site. Parks were very small and not much in them so could do with being upgraded but pool was fantastic and arcades were tidy and clean too :)
Vicki (17 June 2016)

We had a great time at southerness. we had a beautiful view from our caravan and we had everything on our doorstep. the beach and the facilities where just a 2 minute walk away. our caravan was to high standards, especially for it allowing our dog to stay. we will definitely be back again.
Pauline from East Kilbride (17 June 2016)

Although I wasn't in a luxury caravan, I didn't expect cigarette stumps left all around the caravan steps, and the internal floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned-saying that the bed and bathroom were immaculate
Beverley from Workington (10 June 2016)

Great site, prob best we've stayed on. Everywhere clean and well looked after - security spot on and pool always had 2 or 3 lifeguards. Restaurant good .. reasonably priced and lovely food. Staff super friendly and helpful.
Michael from Blackpool (10 June 2016)

We had a wonderful time in southerness in part due to the fabulous weather but also because of the location and facilities in our van. We were at the end of a row right on the beach with views to die for. I could sit on the veranda and watch my grandchildren on the beach.
Linda from Driffield (03 June 2016)

Had a fabulous holiday really enjoyed will definitely return
Michelle from Sedgley (03 June 2016)

Perfect peaceful place, only 1 minor problem was the lack of internet signal.
Carl (03 June 2016)

Had a great holiday, lovely friendly staff, caravan was nice and the location was beautiful.
Stacia (03 June 2016)

Hi. Overall very good for a break with the grandchildren with plenty play areas, could be doing with a few more eating franchise's on site as choice was limited. . we are booked to return in july during school holidays.
Robert from Glasgow (30 May 2016)
