Lovely park with lovely amenities close by. Staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. Nice area to visit. Would stay again
Lyndsey from Sunderland (30 October 2017)

Sandylands was cheap and cheerful, caravan was ok, facilities where adequate and the surroundings where nice, all the family had a nice time
Customer 2 from Wigan (27 October 2017)

Just love it so many things nearby
Louisa from Clydebank (21 October 2017)

Nice flat caravan park. Had a nice time. Bit dark at night walking to caravan . could do with better lighting.
Anne Marie from Coatbridge (20 October 2017)

Swimming pool was tiny, i've seen bigger ponds. The arcades where minimal and not manned and staff were dismissive and not helpful. Children were playing the adult machines and nobody was doing anything. Shops were inadequate for holiday needs. Fish shop was horrible.
Natasha from Edinburgh (16 October 2017)

Caravan was lovely would stay at site again
Robert from Johnstone (13 October 2017)

Thoroughly enjoyed our little break as always at sandylands, love that it's not a massive busy park like craig tara, enjoy seeing local sites and going into irvine shopping,
Patrick from Stirling (09 October 2017)

I arrived a day late (family commitments). I couldn't get the fire to work and it was very cold the duvets felt damp because of the cold . the next day I asked one of the workers to get it on for me he did and it made a lot of difference I left it on when I came back it wasn't burning right I ph down then someone came couldn't get it to work and brought a convector heater which made the caravan very stuffy . the first nights entrainment was brill for my grandchildren but the second nights was terrible we were in the dinning room with people eating and people watching football so didn't enjoy it at all so left the next day .
Mary from Glasgow (29 September 2017)

Holiday was a break away for a few days peace and quiet, to do what we wanted and when
Barbara from Kennoway Fife (29 September 2017)

Simple check in with polite and welcoming reception staff. Lovely caravan accommodation and even the weather turned out nice at the weekend. Thank you and we will definitely be back again.
Richard from Cumbernauld (11 September 2017)

Clean place caravan lovely great location plenty to do places to go weather great
Linda (02 September 2017)

This is what I put on parkdean facebook page!!!. . ok i've been to many caravan parks around the uk but this is something else!! . . when booking online you get a nice looking upgrade 2015/17 caravan photo but when you arrive it's nothing like what you saw, its run down, too plain, a fridge that is unacceptable to health standards that bleach does not get rid of the rotten smell, the main door to caravan has dropped you can see daylight, bedding all damp, not a welcoming caravan and items missing or broken, no cleaning materials like mop & bucket, broom or carpet sweeper for families to use! thank god lidl is round the corner brooms are in store from tomorrow (sunday 27th august!!). I shouldn't be buying these items!. . earlier today I saw 2 cleaners or I persume they were, they went into a caravan opposite picked up duets and left without cleaning it out, this has make me wonder is the caravan i'm in been cleaned before our arrival as there was no comment card or welcome card from the cleaner so I guess it hasn't been cleaned certainly didn't smell clean plus cigarette ends are still outside from pervious occupants which I refuse to pick up, luckily I cleaned the caravan myself so I know it's cleaned!. . staff are rude that the receptionist hid in the back room and let a cleaner (who was also rude) dealt with our complaint why giving the keys back!!! great customer service!. . have written a letter to the relations team and I know they are in receipt of it!!!
Charlotte from Colchester (01 September 2017)

We arrived late night on the day of check in, was shocked to find my caravan was not cleaned when we went in, we were not informed, then we were put in a smaller caravan with no heating, horrible experience with an infant, only the next day our 3 bed caravan was cleaned and handed over
Anantha (28 August 2017)

Excellent place plenty to do beautiful walks will definitely be back
Elaine from Sunderland (28 August 2017)

It was lovely just that the evening entertainment needs to improve. we came in august which is the peak period. Sport activities times should be more choices and times not just onces per day.
Olawumi from Swindon (26 August 2017)

We were disappointed with the lack of facilities for the children. The walk to the beach was dirty and unkempt making it an uncomfortable walk. . the price of food in the restaurant was over priced. . the swimming pool was very small for the number of people in it and activities such as the aqua ball was £4 for just 5 minutes - very over priced! . there were no concreted areas outside the caravan to park which meant we had to park on boggy grass and walk across this causing us to have dirty flooring in the caravan.
William from Basildon (26 August 2017)

Very nice. First time I have been to scotland and it was very nice. Sandylands is a great location. I have seen other locations and thought this was the best one and the facilities were great too. Very friendly people. Thank you. hope to come back there in the future.
Arif from Leicester (26 August 2017)

The staff here were all very helpfull and polite, we had a lovely time and the sun was shinning, the wipeout in the pool was very entertaining. And the beach was beautiful. thanks to all for making our holiday a good one . xxx
Allanah from Ripon (26 August 2017)

Excited about going on holiday but disappointed on arrival. This was as a result of the state of the caravan. The sofa was damp and broken, we had to request for clean sheet to put over it as it looked very dirty. The double bedroom was very damp and smelly. The wood around the fire fireplace was broken and injured one of my kid. Overall it was not good value for money .
Tina (25 August 2017)

After reading other reviews I was a little dubious, however very pleasantly surprised. Close to beach, places of interest easily accessible, caravan clean and spacious. The down sides are the limited facilities. Grocery shop small with limited stock. Entertainment area was also a little tired. Overall we had an excellent trip and would recommend the park for value for money.
Kate from Ellesmere Port (25 August 2017)

Good base location for visiting the surrounding area and parts of scotland
Troy from Southsea (25 August 2017)

I was very surprised at how many shopping centers are nearby and how big the towns around were. Lots to do and see. Just a little bit awkward to get to, but worth it when you do
Peter from Barrow In Furness (21 August 2017)

Sofas was very dirty
Mohammed (18 August 2017)

Dirty site.staff useless.very limited amenities.no staff to ask.entertainment terrible.food over priced.advertised as being beech front but you had to go over a broken bridge that was dangerous and we were not told it was on a train line.dirty cigarette buts outside the door
Belinda from Stoke On Trent (18 August 2017)

We had to wait until 1720 before our van was ready the gas stove buttons were very unsafe the windows would not close when we tyres to close the curtains the ends of the poles fell off there was no vacuum to clean the carpet and we left one day earlier we took our 2 grandchildren and they asked to go back home early they are only 5years and 3 years old it was our first time holidaying on the west coast we normally go to the east coast where I will be going back to
Thomas from Blackburn Lancs (18 August 2017)

The caravan and staff were lovely, however there is nothing around the area to do, you need to drive to find anything to do. the pool is tiny and was always full so we went to the leisure centre for a swim which is across the round. would definitely not go back
Richard from Manchester (18 August 2017)

The caravan we stayed in 251 was very grubby , although crockery had been washed there was food residue on them and the cutlery and saucepans, frying pan etc we didn't use the oven or grill for same reasons. The bathroom was wiped clean , I had taken cleaning products with me and boy did I use them. I think the cleaning staff should be educated in proper cleaning practices. I did speak to the cleaning supervisor a few days later and she seemed to think it's because they're very young which translates to me that they have no training at all. Toilet bowl had urine on rim sink overflow in bathroom and kitchen had black slime in them. This caravan is very tired and a lot cleaner when we left. I didn't go to reception and report this as I thought they were quite rude when we arrived and I felt it was just easier to do it myself, other families may not feel the same.
Kathy from Waltham Cross (18 August 2017)

It was a lovely small park full of friendly people. We were at the far end and my mum had poor mobility but the staff did try to amend it but had no availibility. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The caravan was a bit basic but done the job. Lovely location and really enjoyed our time there. Would definitely come back!!
Carla from Innerleithen (11 August 2017)

Was a good caravan shower not very good then alarm going of at 2 ion morning got fixed next day
Jacqueline from Paisley (11 August 2017)

Staff were very professional and friendly both restaurant and show bar. Caravan well kitted with no complaints. facilities first class and well managed.
Thomas from Glasgow (11 August 2017)

Great value for money
Malcolm (07 August 2017)

Caravan dirty, bed mattress springs coming threw. The gas oven grill didn't work. The floor beside door awful spongey thought a would go threw it. Spent a whole day sitting about waiting for house keeping, maintenance staff then they admitted caravan no good as a said a wanted a move or my money back so eventually got a new caravan after wasting a whole day.
Nicola (04 August 2017)

Amazing..in fact so good we have booked for next year!
Lindsay from Edinburgh (04 August 2017)

Only on site for 3 nights , did not really have the opportunity to visit all of the site facilities, the caravan we stayed in was reasonably clean and tidy and the general condition exultant apart from two issues :. . 1. The refrigerator unit which we needed to use after having been to obtain general shopping, we purchased 2/3 frozen items which needed to be placed within the freezer section of the unit, on opening the unit door the freezer compartment was almost full of ice and the thermostat turned up to maximum and only one frozen item able to fit into the compartment, we turned the thermostat to a position which we assumed would be an acceptable level. The following day all three frozen items had deteriorated and had to be discarded, the freezer unit was still reasonably full of ice but having looked more closely at the freezer cabinet door it did not fit correctly and had a definite gap between the lower section of the door and the base of the freezer cabinet. When we left the site we turned the thermostat to minimum to attempt to allow the unit to deice. . 2. The sleeping accommodation and facilities were fine the problem arose when it became time to retire to bed, all of the beds 1 double and both single units were in my opinion way past their best and all suffered from springs almost protruding from the sleeping surface. From the general condition of the caravan itself, the state of the beds seemed to have had a lot more use and a lot older than the caravan unit itself.
Harry from Dl4 2Na (31 July 2017)

Quiet location near to rail and ferry transport for day trips, facility's were small but adequate good laundry system slightly expensive. Staff were friendly and always polite.
Michael from Yate (31 July 2017)

I took my granddaughter for a long weekend in one of your caravans. the caravan was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would take her back for another long weekend but I would not take her for longer than that. the staff we met were lovely and friendly but the facilities could do with a bit of a revamp as they are looking slightly dated now.
Corinne from Inverness (31 July 2017)

Booked before reading reviews! most reviews are very accurate. The site is large and "tired". the van was "tired" the pool is tiny. The bridge to the beach is treacherous. The prices on site are what you would expect from a holiday park. The food from the chippy was ok. We booked to stay for 2 weeks but on the second night we decided there was no way we could stay that long! we only stayed 6 nights as we had booked a day trip to arran and didn't want to waste that, otherwise we would have come home after the second night. We were that disappointed we booked a holiday to greece for the second week on the second night we were there! overall we would not recommend this site to anyone and we definitely won't be back!
Ian (29 July 2017)

We had issues with the allocated caravan as the previous occupants has a pet and probably smokes and the fridge was emitting a very foul smelling odour. There was also a leak on the boiler which was checked but never mended even I reported it again the following morning to the receptionist. The guy on duty that night was very patient and helpful and acknowledged all the issues we raised.
Ferdi from Watford (28 July 2017)

Surprised at how spacious the caravan was.
Susan from Doncaster (28 July 2017)

Booked last minute so was good value for money, however, upon arrival caravan did have some wear and tear, broken beds, open flame (broken boiler). on a plus all linen was provided and information at check in was great. Caravan was clean. The food at the main restaurant was okay, the positive here is the staff, all friendly and polite. Sadly we only used the pool on one day as we were turned away due to high volumes of guests on other days. The pool is too small for the size of the camp. We were advised there is a pool over the road at a nearby leisure centre, however, at an additional cost. Overall the holiday was okay as we had good weather, however, feel this place needs a much needed revamp!
Dawn from Berrow (28 July 2017)

Nice place to stay. Not far walk from beach or night clubs. Caravan was clean even though the cleaning equipment was broken. Could do with more information on days out as we found our own online. Lovely overall holiday
Kate from Oldham (28 July 2017)

I went monday to friday with the kids we had a great few days away, kids were on the beach due to the good weather and spent their evenings either at the grass across from our van which had football goals and they loved the swimming we went 3 times and the kids took part in the ocean explorer, we ate in the boathouse every night and the food was always lovely
Patricia from Coatbridge (21 July 2017)

I was very sceptical about this holiday as the reviews weren't the best our caravan was basic but ok we took our own bedding even though it was provided due to review complaints of a lumpy bed and we were fine, loved the beach, not much in the area but we found loads to do further afield
Lesley from Manchester (15 July 2017)

A good holiday except tv didn't work properly. It was seen to by staff who said it would be replaced. It wasn't. just a minor problem of our holiday.
Elizabeth from Gatehouse Of Fleet (14 July 2017)

Disappointed that there were no basic supplies in caravan e,g cleaning products, hand towels, toilet roll. I was travelling via public transport so difficult to bring everything with you!!!. . the on-site pool was heavily chlorinated to the point of discomfort!!
John from Edinburgh (14 July 2017)

Where do you start, meet and greet where kids are allowed to touch all the food , kept awake at night by loud music, taxis driving past all the time, site located next to abattoir .trouble getting in and out due to staff parked cars on narrow road, been on these types of caravan holidays before and us and the kids really enjoyed but this place I do not recommend. And definitely wont be back. Very run down holiday camp needs serious updating.
Catherine from Scottish Borders (10 July 2017)

Caravan was not up to standard and the park itself looked pretty run down but the club house is nice
Karen from Kirriemuir (08 July 2017)

This was our first caravan holiday as a family and if this is an example of what a caravan site is like we would not have another. The caravan was extremely old and tired with windows locks that either would not open or would not lock. the curtains were half hanging off some of the rails and there were a lot of cigarette ends all around the caravan. We were put next to a caravan that had children playing outside until 11pm with shouting and screaming going on until then and toys etc left all over the road most of the time making parking difficult and driving round these items dangerous. We were as far a you could be away from the facilities as is possible making it to far to walk with small children. The staff did not care about any problems we had and I am still waiting for a jacket to be returned after more than 3 weeks. We would never stay at this caravan park again!
Andrew from Edinburgh (07 July 2017)

Very standard holiday camp but just not in a great location!
Les from Derby (01 July 2017)

I was very disappointed on ariveal as I was told that it was perfect friendly but wen I was picking keys up n checking in they told me it wasn't pet friendly I had to pay an extra 40 pounds which I havent got .it was half of my holiday money so holiday wasn't good from day 1. I should never had to pay that as it wasn't any fault of mine. I was falsely missed informed so why did I have to pay more money as it was the staff who booked me in that was wrong with the correct information. I have been happy with all the other times iv been but sadly it wasn't good for the reception I was meeted with they never even took discount of or tryd to help with the situation so me n my family were very upset with the reception .i also think the times for checking in n out were ridiculous basically we paid for 2 full days n nights as 4oclock is half day away then 10 to check out is far to early for anybody so very disappointed with the full holiday we needed a break so much but it was nightmare. Never again unless I get an apology nduscout bk
Tracey from Glasgow (16 June 2017)

Enjoyed our holiday, the pool was ok although it was shut on one day and only limited access on another. The beach adjacent to the park was beautiful although again the foot bridge over the railway to access it was tired and in need of some repairs.
Warren from Oldham (02 June 2017)

This is the third time we've been to this site excellent service and location a fifteen minutes walk to the town centre where you can get in most pub's with your dog
James from Kennoway (26 May 2017)

Heather from Glasgow (01 May 2017)

The prices in the bar were far too expensive. Iwould give that 2 out of 10.
Daniel from Glasgow (01 May 2017)

Nice base for us to visit our son in glasgow + nice coastal drive through largs etc..
Stephen from Tamworth (22 April 2017)

The staff at sandylands could not have been more helpful, the caravan was spotless and the site was quiet. Couldn't have asked for more - will definitely be back!
Ruth from Chester-Le-Street (21 April 2017)

For what I paid the accomention was very small for 3 children and 2 adults although there was a pull out in the living area it was rather poor for 2 teenagers 1 child and 2 adults. Kids entertainment was rather poor also.
Kim from London (17 April 2017)

Not bad value for money
Sana from Glasgow (17 April 2017)

We enjoyed ourselves
Milca from Luton (17 April 2017)

We had a very warm welcome when checking in. Had free tea and coffee, buck's fizz, and various snacks. It was really lovely, never had that before from a caravan park. The caravan was lovely and clean, couldn't fault that. . that's where the good stuff ends though..the rest of the site looked dirty and tired. We could never get a seat in the club house, and I wouldn't attempt to use the swimming pool. (as that also looked very dirty) the chip shop was horrible. And the food in the onsite pub was very costly. not much within the area. . I wouldn't stay here again, although we booked a cheap caravan, and we only used it as a base for going out each day. I would still have like to be able to get in the club to see the entertainment at night, without having to just stand around to watch. Club has not got enough table and chairs for the size of the site. The whole place could do with a good scrub and a a good tidy up!
Sandra from Warrington (17 April 2017)

We had a great time, the beach was lovely. We liked the pool but it was small and often busy. The play park was adequate and the accommodation was clean and well stocked. Well situated area as well, great base for looking around ayrshire
Atherly from Tonbridge (15 April 2017)

Was on holiday here in april was the worst caravan holiday I have ever been on ! our accommodation was freezing infact it was that cold that my partner was ill the tuesday morning when he woke up he was then i'll the full holiday ! my youngest child aged 2 has had a bad health with bronchitis and he was up the full night crying and coughing I had to take him into our bed and rub him to put heat into his body !! the wednesday I had the cold and coughing the rest of the holiday !! yes before anyone comments I did put a complaint in but there was no other accommodations available we had the gas fire on near enough the whole time staying there but heat didn't go past the kitchen ! we wer issued with 3 electric heaters which yeah made a difference in temperature but not in our health ! .. due to health and us being floored with the cold we couldn't get out and about which resulted in 3 unhappy children to say the least ! the club was good enough the kids enjoyed dancing around with the entertainment staff but where are the characters ?? we seen one character for the whole of 5 mins while on our holiday !! so over all we won't be back.
Sarah (14 April 2017)

This was the 6th time I have taken my family to sandylands and it has always been enjoyable, unfortunatly this time the customer service etc has gone down hill so will not be back.we tried to visit the open swimming session which is a big part of our holiday but were told due to health and safety reasons the swimming was closed but they were still admitting people who had paid for to use the water walkers etc which we found strange the life guard was unable to explain why.
Jack from Dundee (14 April 2017)

Loads of things were missing on arrival. no gas for a start, no dining table, no bedroom curtains. then there was no shelf in the oven although we found it outside. no lighter to get the oven on, no sharp knives and no frying pan. . it was clean which was a good point. . staff showed no interest when trying to complain. it took 3 days to get an additional quilt and we only got that after I sent an email to the manager. . and please folks dont leave anything in your van when you leave as you wont get it back. as I found out the hard and expensive way!!!!
Abigayle from Stonehaven (10 April 2017)

Full holiday from start to finish was rotten, staff very unhelpful, run down, dirty, fights terrible
Laura from Falkirk (07 April 2017)

Great wee break away, loved the fact the amusements werent a money pit like other amusements ,staff really helpful ,and welcoming
Jonathon (27 March 2017)

We stayed in the bronze 2 pet and on arrival the living area carpet was very dirty and covered in pet hair that didn't belong to my dog.when I swept up there was a dust pan full of hair. Also I had a 6 month old baby with me and I wouldn't have advertised this caravan for a family with a baby as there was no room for his travel cot so we had to prop it over the two single beds in the second bedroom and support the underside with the stool from the table in the living area. There was no double glazing and as most nights were very windy we could feel the wind blowing through the closed windows in all rooms and was very cold. Overall we did not enjoy our stay and not sure is we would return. Staff were very friendly and location was beautiful but our accommodation ruined our holiday.
Claire from Killingworth (30 September 2016)

Need to improve the swimming pool and changing rooms the changing rooms are disgusting x
Lynn from Glasgow (26 September 2016)

After queueing for check in, staff decided to do a group check in, resulting in everyone storming forward and all sense of decency for people who had been there first forgotten. Staff didn't care about the people who had got there first and waited. The site itself is very basic with caravans crammed in. We didn't bother to visit the club as the clientele in reception was enough to know what it would be like! shop is overpriced and we didn't bother to go to the chip shop. Will not be back at this site and would not recommend
Michelle from Glasgow (26 September 2016)

First time visiting this site was good caravan was great .the kids play area was good but felt it needed a door from the lounge area out to swing park. Swimming pool was good but let down by the changing rooms not enough people tried to dry kids of at the entrance work needed done there.had a good time but let down by changing rooms.
Maureen from Glasgow (19 September 2016)

The web description of the place and the actual location differed markedly. It was by the sea but only had views of the meat processing plant and other caravans. The beach and sea were the other side of the railway line. as vegetarians we found it distressing seeing the animals arrive most mornings. fortunately we were far enough away not to hear them. Good value but a depressing place.
Clare from Sutton (02 September 2016)

Really enjoyed it at sandylands
Sarah from Lancashire (02 September 2016)

Didn't pay alot for this holiday so wasn't expecting the ritz, first time we had been to scotland and the scenery was stunning, the beach isn't brilliant as very shelly and saltcoats as an area felt run down, entertainment was the usual cheesy feel but my children had fun, caravan was old and worn with a broken sofa and mold on the bathroom floor and windows but liveable for 4 nights,i wouldn't rush back to sandylands purely because of the general run down feel, staff very friendly throughout!
Rachael (02 September 2016)

Holiday was very well value for money, entertainment was very good but aimed at younger children like mine. The swimming pool got busy, so sometimes had to wait, but was warm and clean. Only quarm is the staff in general were very rude, on reception, in the pool, which I found alarming for a holiday park. Entertainment staff were very good. Would go again, just don't need anything
Amar from Bolton (02 September 2016)

Not the best resort we've stayed in, limited facilities, caravan could have been cleaner, (thank goodness for domestos wipes and fabreeze) the best part was the beach view
Velda from Dumfriesshire (02 September 2016)

Worst site we have ever visited, staff were lovely but the overall look of the site was poor. Roads were rough, plenty of pot holes. No paths leading from the road to the caravans so if wet like it was when we visited your feet end up wet and dirty. Grass was needing a good cut. Not enough play areas for children.
Maureen from Southport (15 August 2016)

Caravan was poor, bit far from amenities, site and staff fine, surrounding areas fine
Agnes from Fife (15 August 2016)

Caravan was cold untidy around the caravan. They need to sort out the bingo link but the kids did enjoy the amusement room
Helen (13 August 2016)

A large caravan site adjacent to a sandy beach although this beach has no facilities. Caravan was clean and comfortable with plenty of room between caravans for grandchildren to play. We didn't use the site facilities apart from going to the games arcade a couple of nights. The ice rink in town was brilliant and the girls went skating for the first time. We also went to the heads of ayr farm park twice which is a very good day out. Everyone we met on and off site were very friendly and helpful.
Susan from Southampton (06 August 2016)

The swimming was a nightmare evertime I brought my 2 autistic nephews to the swimming in the afternoon session they sent us away saying it was too busy and my nephews couldn't understand as it was the only thing they wanted to do on the site and it ended up in tears each time we went to the swimming to then get refused because it was too busy. Also the coker in the caravan did not light properly and when we did get it lit up it took ages to cook food. My 2 nephews only eat certain food because of their condition and I couldn't even make them proper dinners
Dawn from Uddingston (01 August 2016)

It was a nice park for smaller families with younger children but my children who are aged 11 and above didn't have much to do and the entertainment there was generally aimed at younger children.
Katy from Runcorn (01 August 2016)

Caravan was below basic no pans or can opener tv remote was working properly entertainment was not as fun or as good as withersea sands very disapointing as that was what we were looking forward to the most
Rachel from St Helens (01 August 2016)

Caravan not as it show's on web site .caravan not as clean as it should have been .william the lifeguard was fantastic can't praise him enough top lad
Wendy from Durham (30 July 2016)

Clean tidy site with friendly staff .site approach was past golf course ,so mind your head. Then on past the slaughter house.access road was to small with lots of parked cars.not the best start.saltcoats was quiet and clean, and locals friendly.unfortunatley site was very noisy untill early hours with thoughtless guests.with the near by rail track adding to this .this site was close to the sea ,but access was over the rail bridge.would not go back.
Linda from Chester (30 July 2016)

Caravan was fine. Basic standard. Swimming pool was dirty. Changing rooms smelled of urine and came out feeling very dirty. Not enough seating in night time club and had to come away one night. Restaurant was nice. Not a great deal to do for younger children so had to leave park every day to take trips to ayr, millport and largs. beach was lovely and kids had great fun but overall I would not go back.
Caroline (29 July 2016)

Caravan of poor standard and dirty had to contact reception to have it cleaned further. Caravan park in general is run down and nothing to do in surrounding towns. Overall it was a pretty grim experience.
Lynsey from Kirkcaldy (25 July 2016)

Was very disappointed caravan was very dirty
Jackie from Devon (25 July 2016)

Staff are very friendly and helpful, but the caravan itself says quite draughty at times. The single beds were very narrow and uncomfortable, so slept in the living room. Reported the smoke alarm was not working, but was not followed up although someone did come to fix a broken window lock. the entertainment was good though and my granddaughter enjoyed her stay.
Rosemary from Glasgow (01 July 2016)

Entertainment was great caravan horrible freezing fire didn't work curtain broke door hanging off wardrobe dusty dirty waste of money to be honest put me right off
Kayleigh from Greenock (27 June 2016)

Overall, a good week, van was clean & in good condition.
Robert from Ellon (20 June 2016)

Great holiday helpful staff go back next year we hope.
Susan from Basildon (17 June 2016)

I picked sandylands, as it was in the right place for getting out for golf as it had a number of courses close by.
Paul from Preston Lancs (10 June 2016)

Long walk to gates as we were at the very end of the park. no frying pan and no mugs for coffee. . nice having the beds made up though
Janice from Newcastle Upon Tyne (30 May 2016)

Good location for travel to the inner islands of scotland's west coast. comfortable caravan with easy parking next to the caravan. shop on site quite good for food and general supplies. staff very helpful throughout the site. chip shop next door to the shop, but I did not use it so can't comment on it. signage to the site from the main road easy to find. access road seemed to have a lot of cars parked on it making it rather narrow in places, one car at a time.
Geoffrey from Lancing (28 May 2016)

Great location for getting to all the places to visit around that side of scotland and for getting to glasgow on the train lovely beach on the other side of the railway and shops and amenities close by.
Matt from Hemel Hempstead (27 May 2016)

Unfortunately we booked a pets caravan as was last one and thought it wouldn't be so bad as expected cleaning thoroughly but it smelt horrendously and really spoilt our time, salutary lesson for us though!
Andrew from London (20 May 2016)

Have been going here since I was around 8 years old and I have always loved it, they could possible add a sauna or jacuzzi area for the adults and fix some of the machines in the amusements but overall a rest experience
Darren (20 May 2016)

A fab hoiday well woth the money, and the weather was great too
Nancy from Falkirk (13 May 2016)

Great place for kids, we had a really good value weekend and would definitely consider going back again.
April from Glenrothes (09 May 2016)

Great location plenty to do in surrounding atea
Louisa from Clydebank (16 April 2016)

Very rundown site complex very untidy very shortstaffed entertainment not great.
Fiona from Falkirk (15 April 2016)

The swimming pool is not big enough for the complex being full. there is only 10 lockers and 3 changing cubicles in the ladies and only 2 showers. having a full park this is not sufficient for people to use. there was a que to get out of the pool. not the best experience to stand there and have people watch you drip drying to get into changing rooms and for people to get their kids changed out with the changing rooms.
Janice from Birnam (11 April 2016)

The park needs a lot of work, most of the roadside lights don't work so you are walking in pitch dark. We arrived after 6pm and our caravan wasn't made up no bed sheets, the smoke alarm was beeping as the batteries were dead, bulbs weren't working and in order to make toast you had to hold the handle down! the television remote didn't work meaning we couldn't change the volume on the tv and there were springs sticking out the mattress which we had to lie a pillow over so were weren't impaled. There were no baking trays for the oven which pretty much rendered it useless and the toilet leaked all over the floor. We never got to use the swimming pool as it was either closed due to no staff or had classes on. We stood in reception for 10 minutes one day waiting to ask a question and were completely ignored by the receptionist whilst she was on the phone chatting to her pal (we could hear her!) good point was that I thought they made a lot of effort for the kids over halloween even though our wee one is too young to join in.
Jennifer from Clackmannanshire (02 November 2015)

Looking very run down
Karen (02 November 2015)

Holiday park good, staff very friendly and brilliant with the kids, special thanks for the attention they gave my granddaughter lucy. . . on the down side it was muddy outside the caravan and the lighting outside the main area was very poor but wont stop us going back.

We visited some relatives in the area and it was a perfect place for us to stay for a week, instead of bed & breakfast. We did not really use the facilities but what we saw they were good. We stayed there oct 19-26 which wasn't exactly glorious summer time but we enjoyed our stay there.
Ann-Mary from Bermuda (26 October 2015)

First day we got there it took us an hour to find caravan. No one would help us only handing us a map. First day we got there the gas fire was hanging off the wall. We were given an electric heater but caravan was to cold..we asked for another heater in which we were given. We were told we could not have the 2 heaters on at the one time as this would trip the caravan. It was the worst caravan experience we have had. Also all the shelfs in the shop were empty. All it had was milk drinks and alcohol.

Loved it! . great place to go and chill
Nighat (09 October 2015)

I can't understand why a caravan park allows dogs on site but there is no area near the bar where you can take them. As the park was quiet and the bar was the only real entertainment area on site, it led to a fairly dry break !!!
Peter from Middlesbrough (05 October 2015)

Drinks a bit pricey ,staff really friendly ,teamstars are fantastic with the kids ,short 5 min walk from town centre ,could really do with a make over (roads & lighting) chippy never open ,shop closes to early, need more attractions on site (fair ground rides ,bigger playground, and a must is pavements kids having to walk on road as hardly any pavements ,also when book I stated I was disabled was told they would try and put me near complex I was nearly at the back of the park not ideal with 2 kids walking on roads with hardly any lighting and in a wheelchair
Ally from Larkhall (28 September 2015)

The caravan was not very clean. The oven door was faulty which I requested to be fixed more than once and it wasnt. My sons bedroom window did not close properly at the bottom so there was a very bad draft at night. The bar/resturant and leisure facility staff were great. The reception and cleaning staff also very friendly but did not get oven door, broken light or missing kitchen equipment sorted quickly, or even at all.

Previously went to steeple bay.. I wouldn't go there again, so was cautious as to book this but glad I did
Kay from Preston (28 August 2015)

The park itself is fine apart from lots of dog mess around the reception area. The silver premier caravan beds were so uncomfortable we had to ask for extra duvets to sleep on top of. The pool changing rooms are very small and in desperate nwed of upgrading with rotting wood and peeling flooring. That's the stuff that needs improvement, however my son loves this place and it's largely due to the entertainment staff. They are brilliant with the kids and involved them all. The local area seems deprived but there are lots of country parks and castles within fairly short drives, and we spent a lovely week exploring the outdoors. If sandylands could invest some money in the swimming pool and keeping the outdoor areas clean (and maybe a better outdoor play area) then it would be a 9 out of 10 from me :)

The worst site i've ever stayed on insufficient facilities for the number of caravans and people staying there a train line running past the site and it looks like it's in the middle of an industrial area!the roads around the site need re surfacing in an awful state if it hadn't been a place to stay just for a couple of nights to visit family I would have left.it needs a complete make over I would not recommend this site to anyone

The caravan site was situated near a beach which was lovely, but the opposite view of stevenson and the high school was not so scenic, although the surrounding hills were also beautiful. . it was a shame that the bridge over the railway was so industrial and rusty, but once on top the views of the sea and the island of arran were lovely, the same can be said for the once you were on the beach.
Lisa from Spixworth (22 August 2015)

Unfortunately being elderly distance from facilities to far for. Walking therefore unable to enjoy a drink and drive. But the resturant. Come bar spotless

Swimming pool was freezing as the boiler was broken and it has no slides or flumes. There is a play park, one reasonably nice restaurant, small chip shop, one convenience store and an arcade. Entertainment was nice for young children.

Whilst we enjoyed trips to arran and largs we found the local area very quiet and remote with no pubs or restaurants nearby. we also found the nearby factory off putting and were constantly hounded by seagulls on and around our accommodation. our son enjoyed the amusement arcade but we were all disappointed with the size of the pool and the fact that you had to walk through the arcade to access it, needless to say we decided not to try the pool.

Bryony (14 August 2015)

This was our first at a holiday caravan park like ur self , we were used to smaller complexes where the play areas were more centralised , which I felt was lacking, another play area would have been more beneficial. The access to beach was adequate unfortunately those with buggies struggled with the stairs and individuals with mobility difficulties would struggle as one of our group found. We had to ask to find out how to access the beach ps that was us at fault, yet another new arrival asked us , something when checking in would be helpful. Your staff were very helpful, facilities were clean and very comfortable. On the second say I reported a leak at toilet bowl this was still an issue the day we left as a result I found fungus growing in corridor when I was doing a final check on the day we where leaving , I reported this issue when handing keys back for caravan 254. When I purchased a soft drink a fruit shoot I was shocked at the price this was overpriced and expensive. The staff were informative, helpful and friendly in all areas.
Sharon from Glenrothes Fife (10 August 2015)

Sandylands is a good tidy site with helpful staff. I wish I had known that you have to climb over the railway to get to the beach and driving past a factory to get to the site doesn't give a great first impression. We enjoyed our holiday it was a good cheap holiday.
Mark from Wakefield (10 August 2015)

Caravan was lovely ,spacious and clean. Better than I expected for a silver plus.
Sarahjane from Hamilton South Lanarkshire (10 August 2015)

The location for exploring ayrshire is great but the actual site and caravan were not great. the caravan was a bit worn out, the carpet was filthy and whenever our baby crawled on it, it looked like she had been crawling outdoors! the cupboards, oven and fridge required a good clean when we arrived too and the grease was thick above the cooker. Used the pool a couple of times and the staff were really nice and very helpful as we're the reception staff when our electric kept switching off.
Kirsty from Aberdeenshire (10 August 2015)

We had a great weekend, would book again.
