Nice relaxing long weekend… just what I was looking for.
Andrew from London (10 October 2016)

Lovely peaceful place, great for visiting london for the day.
Susan from Telford (08 October 2016)

Lovely relaxing break, fortunately the weather was good, not sure what we would of done if raining. The secluded hot tub was not actually secluded but very nice anyway.
Diane from Welwyn Garden City (30 September 2016)

Spacious log cabin with hot tub. Easy journey to london. Close to many cycle trails. On the marina with lots of lovely boats to look at!. beds were comfy with soft sheets and towels. Toiletries, toilet roll, small bottle of oil plus dishcloth etc made a nice surprise. Could be so beautiful but lack of maintenance is obvious. Gardens overgrown although lawn was mowed. Road surface left a bit to be desired. Patio doors in the cabin are difficult to open and heavy. Middle door was broken and so a very small gap (not a problem in the summer). clean but not spotless- cooker hood sticky, cobwebs in corners, scum/dust around hot tub. The over the bath shower looked new but was a ridiculous design almost impossible to shower easily. We couldn't get the main shower to work and had to go and ask for help. It was sort of broken, it worked when pushed and pulled at the same time. But we had a lovely quiet week and as we had read the reviews we were aware of the maintenance issue. All 3 staff I had contact with were nice but I have scored lower because we arrived after a long journey and were given a key but no one came to show us around. Given the difficulty of the 3 patio doors and the shower knob, plus the usual appliances - oven, dishwasher etc this would have been so helpful. There were instruction leaflets but who wants to read all these after a journey? fortunately we didn't have kids. The hot tub was private despite former reviews but the decking had steps down to the grass which could be difficult for a toddler. There are steps up to the front door too so . our cabin would not be disabled friendly yet on the inside it was very spacious.
Customer 4 from Middlesbrough (23 September 2016)

It's a nice place to stay but the lodge is in need of some tlc! the decor was a bit shabby and it didn't have a very 'cosy'feel. The main bathroom wasn't as clean as it could be. There were not enough towels on arrival (only 3 between 2 adults and 3 kids!) on request we were promptly brought some more which was good but overall there was a distinct lack of effort with the way the lodge had been prepared for our arrival. The lawn in the garden hadn't been mown and was quite long and there was a strong smell of fox poo! the hot tub didn't seem as clean as it should be despite it saying it gets emptied before every new residents arrive..there was dust floating in it. . someone did come and check the hot tub every day though-it was quite a surprise when he turned up in the garden unannounced!. overall, this place could be lovely with a bit more care and upgrading but it was a little disappointing considering it's a vip lodge as I was expecting a little more luxury!
Sara from Edinburgh (19 September 2016)

Ok for our needs , would be better if wifi was included
Alan from Sydney (19 September 2016)

Lodge was spacious, acceptably clean but a little "tired". the tv and dvd did not work and, although we reported this, the problem was not resolved during our seven night stay.
Lorna from Downton (17 September 2016)

Whilst i'm very aware that this is a 'holiday let' I would like to of seen it a whole lot cleaner...it was clean on the surface but when you looked it could do with a jolly good deep clean, especially the curtains, i'm surprised they were still hanging they were that filthy, the beds could be more comfy, but were ok. The 2 sofas in the room, one was very tired and ripped, having said that they were both very uncomfortable. The hot tub was a lovely bonus, although something was wrong with it, wouldn't turn off and had a constant hum, we were told to remove the plug if it bothered us, but then the temperature dropped.
Pamela from Portsmouth (16 September 2016)

Beautiful lodge, exceptionally clean and modern. Location great with plenty to do and see. Would highly recommend.
Cheryl from Hastings (12 September 2016)

The holiday park is a great base for trips to london and surrounding area. our lodge had all the basics for a comfortable stay, with the bonus of a lovely hot tub to soothe your aching body after all that sight seeing.
Peter from Hull (10 September 2016)

Luxury lodges that have not been fully maintained. They are still good and spacious but little things have not been repaired. Otherwise a good location for visiting london and the lee valley. You can walk to the station and it's just half an hour to london. Lots of things to do in the area including an outdoor lido, canoeing and there was even an open air cinema on the village green. Would go again.
David (29 August 2016)

Stayed at the roydon marina village for a short weekend break. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the holiday and was so sad to leave! can't wait to book again and go back to the stunning surrounding and beautiful village.
Andrew from Tredegar (29 August 2016)

Had a fantastic week
Barry from Preston (27 August 2016)

This is the perfect place to go for a relaxing quiet holiday. . hot tub was fab & lodge spacious & well equipped. With the bonus of a washer dryer which I used several times. Staff extremely friendly, helpfull & efficient. The only downside was lack of wifi & poor internet signal. Also the shower head on bath was faulty & sprayed out the sides, however im sure if I had reported it, it would have been rectified quickly. . I would definately go back again without a doubt.
Lorraine from Beccles (15 August 2016)

Spot on, good area for getting around
Teresa (15 August 2016)

Don't agree with taking £50 from us at the start of our holiday for "just in case of damages" policy. . we reported our bathroom light switch not working on the thursday morning (stopped operating the wednesday night. Surprised this issue wasn't dealt with before our stay as the cleaning staff at least must have noticed it). still wasn't fixed by the time we left saturday morning. When highlighted at time of returning the keys, a quite insincere apology was muttered. No good when you need to shave though! . larger fence really is required around the hot tubs too. Third visit to this site, we like it there, but small things & attitudes matter. Site is clearly growing. Customer service needs to grow with it
Graham (13 August 2016)

Had a beautiful few days. Would definitely recommend.
Joanne (12 August 2016)

Very quiet. Not ideal for a young family. Nothing on the site other than the marina bar which was lovely. There is also a restaurant but we didn't try that as we had a dog with us. . the cabin was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. We had a private garden but had to block the sides of the cabin with chairs to prevent children and dog escaping. . one lady (staff) in particular was very smiley and polite but everyone else seemed a bit miserable. Hot tub was nice but felt a bit shoved on the side of the cabin. . I wouldn't go back as it didn't suit us but may suit a couple who want complete peace.
Emma (12 August 2016)

Stayed in a roydon vip lodge. we enjoyed it so much we booked again 4 weeks later. . the lodges are clean and comfy the hot tub was great. . there are cobwebs outside but your in the middle of trees and that's where they live. also the gardens are not the most manicured but if you don't mind a weed or two it's fine. Inside it looks like there are stains on the walls but it's only the wood staining through the paint. Very clean and amenities great
Jennifer from Essex (08 August 2016)

Good base for traveling around the south from. however the park could do with a bit of a tidy as it looks very tired and maybe could do with something for kids to do, like a play park or something!
Nick from East-Yorkshire (01 August 2016)

We had a fabulous time at roydon marina village. All the staff were helpfull and kind. The hot tub was amazing and the biking was brilliant. We will definitely be staying again. Thankyou roydon marina village x
Kelly from Hessle (30 July 2016)

The lodge could have been cleaner - windows were filthy, carpets dirty and under the oven dirty with food that had fallen out. there was wallpaper off which I think should have been shown to you as you leave a damage deposit. Grassed area outside could have been cut back so the children could have played but with the big nettles they had to be careful.
Pauline from Durham (30 July 2016)

Although the place is in a beautiful rural setting the marina is not particularly dog friendly, which you may believe it is since dogs are welcome. The marina also seems to sit in a mobile phone blackspot and wifi is not readily available on site. For some however this could be a benefit. A strong love of spiders is essential, they are abundant inside and out. after investigation it transpired that the area has the uk's highest numbers of the false widow spider.
Graham from Edinburgh (30 July 2016)

I had read some of the reviews with trepidation, so on arrival was unsure what to expect. The lodge layout was fabulous, and well thought out. I did feel that with some general maintenance and extra care, the lodges could be fantastic. The garden was overgrown and the decking unswept, windows dirty and the shower not in complete working order. Having said that, I asked the maintainence man to mow our garden as my dog sustained an injury and he could not have been more helpful and accommodating- it was done that day. The hot tub was great, and was checked daily. Staff at reception and in the marina bar were also very polite and friendly. The setting is just perfect, the walks were beautiful and access to the village easy. We ate at the onsite restaurant which was lovely, and again great setting as we were outside. Overall, I would definitely return, the walks, position and setting more than sell this place. Yes there are trains, but not to a noisy or annoying level, there are also canal and country walks on your doorstep and practical lodges.
Amy (23 July 2016)

Fabulous stay in a roydon lodge vip for a week. We used the lodges as a base for visiting legoland, harry potter studio tour and london city which can be reached by direct train from station at entrance to site. we had contacted site in advance to request an early check in and a lodge with twin beds in the second bedroom and we received an email reply very quickly agreeing to the requests. Check in was no problem and the garden was being tended to when we arrived but the lodge was ready and cleaned for us. All in all we would definitely recommend the lodges as ideal for a relaxing break or for visiting london or it's surrounds.
Jennifer from Hamilton (18 July 2016)

The lodge was well equipped and hot tub great fun. The hot tub was cooler one night and we happened to say to the guy checking it in the morning and he spent ages getting the water levels back up and the temp right for us. We also had a complete loss of power one night and a guy was at the lodge within 5 minutes fixing it for us. . it's a beautiful place if you enjoy walking and the people who live in the marina boats are very friendly. If you go round the other side of the canal you can walk all the way to lee valley where you can hire bikes, and do all nature of water sports. . roydon has plenty shops and is only 5 minutes drive away. We read reports about plane noise we never once heard a plane. And the train track is electric and you don't notice them as they are frequent until late evening. I sometimes wonder what people want from a holiday when I read reviews this is a lovely site peaceful, relaxing and friendly.
Lel (15 July 2016)

Great location. Beautiful surroundings. Fantastic for a family of four wanting a comfortable and convenient stay in and around london. We have stayed three times already and we will return. The site could do with a small park for the youngsters and a bigger on site shop.
Delme (27 June 2016)

Lovely lodge and beautiful site , helpful staff, clean and tidy .
Christine from Hellingly East Sussex (24 June 2016)

Had a brilliant chilled weekend ,want to go again
Frank from Sheerness Kent (20 June 2016)

Nice relaxing break
Antony from St Albans (10 June 2016)

Ideal location if you want to visit london, train station just a 5 minutes walk. The lodge was clean and spacious, only complaint was the sofa uncomfortable as dipped in the middle. Lots of storage. The hot tub was lovely
Mandy from Beccles (03 June 2016)

A great place to stay. Clean and tidy and very quiet. Near to london and value for money. Would stay again
Janice from Northampton (03 June 2016)

We stayed in the vip lodge, it was spacious but shabby, the hot tub was great and we were lucky as we were shielded from the other lodges by a hedge and trees, so we did feel secluded up to a point. The site is very big and quite noisy with people and children enjoying themselves. We had gone away for a quiet weekend, just the two of us. I missed the little touches that I thought the vip lodge would have, such as, extra towels to use with the hot tub, dressing gown and slippers, table mats, and coasters for the dining room tables, there was no hair dryer in the lodge, it also needed a table in the lounge where you could put your drinks on , if you were watching television, the three remotes for the television and dvd were broken and held together with sellotape, and the television did not work, we had to call a member of staff to come and fix it for us, he was very nice and very helpful but I expected everything to be working properly. we had a lovely weekend but was disappointed. With our vip lodge and site.
Trish from Witham (30 May 2016)

Nice location lovely accomadation the only thing that was disappointing was the hot tub - we have stayed here a few times before and previously the jets and the temperature in the hot tub could be turned up or down and now we had no control and found the temperature too hot and jets not powerful enough which meant we wasn't able to spend any length of time in there which was the whole point out stay and unfortunately feel this is a money saving scam by the owners which is a shame
Karen from Essex (23 May 2016)

A really nice well equipped holiday lodge, just a shame it was a bit scruffy and worn needing a bit of maintenance, the grass was long and uncut, the hot tub was pleasant but not overly hot! . the site was very well located with nearby station and regular trains to london liverpool street, overall we enjoyed our break, just felt it could have been improved with better site management.
Jan from Cornwall (20 May 2016)

My husband & I were staying for a long weekend to celebrate our 10yr anniversary & it couldn't have been better. We will most definitely be coming back to stay . the staff were really helpful & accomodating & very friendly. . thank you all for a perfect weekend x
Emma from Se London (16 May 2016)

Was an absolute treat of a holiday, definitely better than I expected, will be booking again and letting my friends and family know
Abdus from London (16 May 2016)

Really enjoyed our stay at roydon. Brilliant little lodge. Really worth the upgrade to get a jacuzzi, we spent most of our time in it. Lovely surroundings right on the canal. The lodge was a decent size for 4 adults. . only negatives we had were that the lodge could have been better equiped, didnt have standard things like a bottle opener and the garden could have done with a tidy up, we had a 5 month old baby and would have loved to have put her on the grass but it was like a jungle. Overall we loved our stay at roydon and would recommend to anyone for a weekend away with friends or family.
Steph (02 May 2016)

Very clean and well looked after site
Sarah from Shireoaks (18 April 2016)

Nice place but hot tubs could do with new lids and better paving around the hot tub area.
Tracy from Cambridge (11 April 2016)

Poor. . expensive. . no internet. . lack of info
Wayne from London (08 April 2016)

The lodge was very nice and well maintained, however, bearing in ind there was a patio area with table and chairs it would have been nice if these had been wiped over before we arrived, they were very dirty and I had to clean the chairs done before
Gina (04 April 2016)

These lodges are great and very well equipped. Getting a bit worn after a few years of service though and the wifi needs sorting as they used to supply it. Not actually advertising it so shouldn't expect it I suppose. Not much phone signal around. But otherwise a fantastic place. Not a deal breaker. There's a few pubs in the village and a restaurant on site with was fab. Italian. Very convenient for getting into london on the train as train station just up the road. We stayed in lodge 6. It has a new tv and limited sky free view channels.
Paul from Stanley (18 March 2016)

Lovely lodge clean and tidy, master room mattress had a ditch in it. Lol
Karen (07 March 2016)

The maintenance guy was very helpful. Reception staff were not all very friendly upon arrival. Other than that had a great time.
Jodie (07 March 2016)

Wonderful stay in a comfortable lodge with the luxury of a hot tub. . really enjoyed the peaceful environment, which led to a totally relaxing break.
Gina from St. Albans (22 February 2016)

Nice comfortable lodge, very warm with the winter sun coming in the through the lovely big windows. Quiet and nice walking area. Local pubs in walking distant
Carole from Brandon (20 February 2016)

Nothing to do on site, no wifi available, old lodges.
Stephen from Newcastle (19 February 2016)

Needed a hairdryer as forgot to pack my own and the gentleman at reception was really helpful however the following day the other member of staff tried to assist us with train information and when we walked down to the station it stated no trains available so would have expected staff to be aware of this. Overall lovely stay, our second visit to the vip lodge, bit cold for the hot tub for that time of year (february), next time will book for summer break.
Becky from Peterborough (15 February 2016)

Greeted by friendly staff. Lovely walks in surrounding being area. Hot tub is a must it was divine. Clean and well presented accommodation. Only slightly negative was would have liked info on local places to eat out rather than find out ourselves. Overall, loved it and will return
Wendy from Rochford (15 February 2016)

This is the first time we have stayed at the roydon marina village, we really enjoyed our stay. The park was clean, quiet and a lovely natural location. The only downside was that the wi-fi was not working, which my husband required for work and we have a 13 year old son. We felt it was very good value for money on the whole, we were using it as a base to travel into london, which worked really well and we would stay again next time we want to go into london.
Michelle from Stoke-On-Trent (12 February 2016)

Having stayed at royden before we were very disappointed at how the accommodation has deteriorated the decor was very poor in both cabins dirty walls ect lights not replaced furniture grubby & cleaning was poor . heating in 1st cabin was jammed on so the 1 st night we were so hit as no thermostat to turn it off !!. we were moved early the next morning to next door! . the hot tub was overgrown with plants rubbish left in bushes. Outside lights not working, dirty furniture etc . the on site restaurant was very over priced !! . good meals & good value at pubs in village
Jeffrey from Kent (08 February 2016)

Was worth the money paid, would definitely recommend
Donna (07 February 2016)

Unhelpful girl greet us on reception get to cabin no wifi and hottub not working rang reception she said oh yer wifi is t working(which was a nightmare as needed to do work while away) said about hottub n was told yer the jets don't work on some of the tubs! I had to ask to get someone to look at it! they did and found it wasn't even plugged in so ment we couldn't use it the first night which when only there for a short break is a pain! second night used hottub but it wasn't a hottub was a luke warm tub! also the shower in the master ensuite leaked and ran all over wood floor! was a great location for getting into london but found things really needed updating, cleaning standards were low if your going to advertise as 5* and very badly lit around the park and the small access road which is at the side of a canal when getting on and off park! stayed here 4nights in lodge 7!don't think I would go back to roydon!
Amy from Burton On Trent (05 February 2016)

Perfect location although we wern't told about a disco/rave at the restaurant opposite and after a five hour drive a five year old child we came home from visiting friends for bed to listen to the music till early hours. told reception next day who was a young girl and bless her didnt know what to do except move us if there was another party sat. There wasnt and tge rest of the stay was lovley.
Joanne (01 February 2016)

Although the lodge was reasonably clean and well arranged the shower proved a problem and we could not get an answer from staff as to how it worked, it also was very dated and mouldy in places. We have as yet to receive our security deposit back - knowing that we did not damage anything and when my husband asked how this would be returned to us was met with a very ( couldn't care less) attitude.
Christine from Kings Lynn (30 January 2016)

Discovered bedding hadn't been changed. Reported it their response was if a bed doesn't look slept in we don't change it! still awaiting (2weeks) for a manager to contact me.
Rebecca from Staffordshire (07 January 2016)

Took a break over new year and it was so peaceful. Been here before at other times of the year but this was a fantastic time to get away.
David from Glasgow (03 January 2016)

Hi enjoyed my stay but felt the lodge could go been cleaner there were crisps under the matter of the sofa bed and just didn't seem to be cleaned very well through out
Nikki from Bury At Edmunds (03 January 2016)

The description online failed to mention that there was a railway line right next to the accommodation which was quite loud during the day and into late evening. We found glass in our jacuzzi along with a rusty spring and when I handed these items in to reception, the young girl working didn't even apologise. Upon arriving we were told that the park was experiencing technical issues with the wifi connection which initially wasnt an issue but 4 days later and still no wifi, we felt let down. Especially because my girlfriend chose this lodge partly due to the wifi so she could complete some uni work in a nice environment. So as the wifi was non existent for 4 days, the nice environment happened to be on a busy london train line and the hot tub had glass in it, we feel quite dissatisfied with our holiday.
Scott from Newmarket (03 January 2016)

I'm not sure we were given the via lodge. It wasn't particularly clean. Disappointed
Liam (30 December 2015)

Lodge 10 - had a fabulous time and staff made us very welcome. . I was impressed overall with the lodge however the main patio door needs to replaced. the was quite a draft coming in as good not be closed properly and this'll so meant it was very insecure. someone could of got in very easily. also the bath plug had come disconnected so it was hard to let out the water, we had to lift slightly and put a knife under so that the water could slowly drain. . . impressed with the fridge size and overall kitchen facilities and hot tub was great. lovely hot water all the time for both showers and bath. . would definitely consider staying again.
Vivian from Harlow (27 December 2015)

Great lodge nice for a nice trip to london
Vicky from Oldham (23 December 2015)

The reception area could do with de-cluttering and the staff were not exactly welcoming - which put us off trying the restaurant and marine café.
Jane from London (14 December 2015)

Staff on front desk came across miserable . staff in pizza restaurant and owner = legends! . lodge was beautiful however spa shower had broken shower head and stereo . no wifi or internet or phone call signal in lodge (not parks fault) . beautiful complimentary oil , soaps ect. . parking spaces not very big unfortunately. . one parking space per lodge . fantastic location, quick train journey into london. Shop and pubs nearby.
Confirmed Holidaymaker from Suffolk (13 December 2015)

Would not go there again we have been to different lodges with hoseseasons this was the most expensive and the worst. Still washing clothes now to get the smell of the place out of them. The whole place made us feel dirty did not use hottub as it was not inviting to go out on the dirty slippery decking, hottub lid was very dirty and bits floating in it. The main bedroom bathroom smelt terrible, no wifi as advertised, no phone signal birds mess everywhere. Washer/dryer had water in it asked at reception they sent someone to sort it they used a mug and left it dirty on side also our kitchen roll and took a towel from bathroom . we have been booking with hoseseasons very december for wedding annversary without problem .after this experience will be rethinking next year if that is what they are offering as a vip lodge
Sandra from Salisbury (12 December 2015)

Great escape from london. So close to the city but felt like we were miles away. Great italian restaurant on site and nice walks in the area. Some good pubs in the village too.
Rachel from London (07 December 2015)

Lovely place to stay. Would definately go again. Could do with some more instructions on how to use everything in the lodge but still nice.
Noel (06 December 2015)

Great place for a short break or visit to london and cambridge nice italian restaraunt on site and some lovely pubs in the village which is easily walkable the chalet was ok perhaps could do with a little t l c. but overall a very good break away
Sue from Hensall (04 December 2015)

The area itself is quite pretty and nice to have a stroll around. The restaurant pizza and steak is absolutely lovely, my only complaint was that we never heard the specials and that actually seemed like it had the nicest food on it. having been 2 times before, this was probably my least favourite stay as everything is seeming a little tired and run down.
Elizabeth (30 November 2015)

Had an amazing weekend, everything was superb.
Sam from Hull (29 November 2015)

We did enjoy our weekend 4 of us .
Jurgita from London (29 November 2015)

Lovely peaceful stay and good facilities
Kevin from Kent (28 November 2015)

Lovely lodge, everything you need for a break away. would happily stay again.
Fiona from Loughton (22 November 2015)

Bought my husband for his 50th birthday had a lovely peaceful and relaxing long weekend he loved the hot tub thank you
Angela (16 November 2015)

Great weekend, staff lovely and friendly, hottub superb. Booking again
Linda from Leigh On Sea (16 November 2015)

Ideal location for lee valley white water centre. Close enough to drive each day for training
Anne from Skipton (02 November 2015)

Absolutely fantastic lodge with the added bonus of a hot tub! clean, cosy and lovely setting would love to visit again!! would be even better if had the option of a later check out on sunday.
Joanna (01 November 2015)

Really enjoyed our stay. Lots of things to do in the surrounding areas.
Marie from Norwich (31 October 2015)

We had a vip lodge with private hot tub only it wasn't private anyone walking/driving down the road could see us. The lodge looked lovely but had the worst most uncomfortable bed snd sofas that hurt your back - you couldn't get comfortable. we swapped & slept in single beds. It was a pleasant but uncomfortable stay. Carolyn one of the members of staff was very helpful.
Samantha from Taunton (31 October 2015)

Lovely place to stay. london 30 minutes on the train would definitely stay again
David (30 October 2015)

Had a fab short stay. nice lodge and hot tub was fantastic. We just wanted a 'do nothing' break and this fits the bill perfectly. Food at the white hart pub in the village is lovely too.
Nicola (26 October 2015)

Location fantastic if travelling to london on train . local pub lovely . hot tub not private with broken screen . shame as could of been lovely ..
Rebecca (26 October 2015)

Lovely villa great ocation easy access to london by train will definately stay again
Samantha from Stockon On Tees (24 October 2015)

Stayed for short break at reduced price. wouldnt have wanted to pay full price. log cabin not that clean - layer of dust on blind over sink, cobwebs in corners of ceilings and door frames. trains ever 15 mins at rush hour a shame. however we just used it as a base and had nice days out. lovely restaurant on site and great meals in village pubs. enjoyed the hot tub however it was overlooked and on one side the willow screening partly falling down. wouldnt stay again
Sally from Kent (23 October 2015)

There is very little available within the marina however the proximity to london and the train links are fantastic . I was upset when cats and dogs were allowed into the bar as my mother who was with us is terrified of cats. It jumped up on the seat beside us several times , no one seemed to make the effort to take it out as if it had a right to be there , so it resulted in us having to leave .
Jennifer from Dublin (23 October 2015)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would like to point out that the staff who looked after us on our arrival were excellent, very friendly and helpful, however, the staff who checked us out were very much of a "couldn't care less" attitude. The least they should have done was ask if we had had a good holiday!
Judith (19 October 2015)

Great place for a short break. Good location - close to epping forest and lee valley. Good local pubs.
Jenny (19 October 2015)

Beautul lodge in a beautul setting. The only reason I marked the facilities as 9 was that one couldn't watch a complete tv programme without the picture breaking up. I reported this to reception and someone came and said it was aerial problems
Philip from Portsmouth (17 October 2015)

The accomodation was ok. Felt that you were not allowed in till 4pm but had to be out for 10am for cleaning there were a few cob webs in out accomodation and we had to empty all the rubbish before we left so don't know how it takes that long to clean it for the next rental. I thought the location was nice although the site lacks anything for kids, there was no play area or park which would of been nice . the visit was to see my daughter and family but being a carer we still have young kids to entertain so some outside space would of been nice.
Sandra from Fife Scotland (17 October 2015)

Great family location and able to explore london from here.
Amanda from Glasgow (17 October 2015)

We had a lovely stay here. In a great location. Really handy with the train station on your doorstep! only a 30 minute train ride into london! slightly noisy with being under the flight path and right by the train line but we got used to it quickly! . lodge was spotless and lovely and warm. Only downside was it could do with some more lamps to make it more cosy. Don't really like big lights. . the hot tub was a lovely bonus too! . would definitely like to return.
Naomi from Lesmahagow - Scotland (16 October 2015)

We stayed in the roydon lodge vip which was lovely and well set out. The only faults I would say is that the shower did not work and two plug sockets didn't work either. Apart from that it was perfect
Alison from Peterborough (12 October 2015)

Enjoyable stay but need to book in earlier or leave later.
Anne from Merthyr Tydfil (05 October 2015)

The roydon marina village is lovely. It is set in lovely rural surroundings and is so quiet and peaceful. It is clean and tidy with plenty of parking and the onsite restaurant is fantastic - really lovely waiters/waitresses and the food is sublime - although the drinks, not the food, are a little bit pricey. If I had one criticism it would be that the village could benefit from a well stocked convenience store. We fancied a bottle of wine with our sunday lunch and it would have been lovely if we could have purchased it onsite - instead we had to drive to harlow. But other than that - I can't fault the village.
Zoe from Broxbourne (05 October 2015)

Shabby run down & tired wouldn't waste your money
Michelle (05 October 2015)

A very nice quiet weekend, a lovely walk by the river side, just the relaxing weekend that was required.
Peter from Essex (05 October 2015)

Loved the apartment everything spotlessly clean cosy and very comfortable staff very friendly and helpful. would definitely stay agai
Florence (25 September 2015)

We had a fantastic relaxing, peaceful holiday. Beautiful surroundings & a very comfortable, clean & well equipped lodge.
Anthony from London (25 September 2015)

We stayed in lodge 10 which is a vip lodge with a hot tub and we have stayed in this one before without any complaints but sadly it has deteriorated since and is now in need of some major repairs! . . when we arrived we couldn't open the front door because it was stuck @ the bottom so it needed tapping with your foot to open every time you went in and out and was worse from the inside to get out! . . the sliding lounge door had a broken door handle which didn't lock and has never been repaired instead it had been replaced with a cheap small lock which anyone could just break in!!! . . then kitchen sliding door opened once during the 4 nights we was there and then wouldn't slide open again and would just get jammed!!!. . we did report this to reception but it wasn't repaired when we was there . . my on suite bathroom smelt of mould and as the door into the bathroom was close to the bed the door had to be kept shut @ all times because of the strong smell!!!. . sadly these lodges just aren't what they used to be and despite the fact people sometimes pay huge amounts of money to stay there @ high season the owners are not putting enough money back in them to maintain a good level of standard which is a shame because we like roydon alot!!!
Richard from Woodford Green (25 September 2015)

Good location for ease of access to london. However the marina and park more suited to permanent residents than holiday makers. Glad we didn't choose for a purely holiday destination.
Lynn from Leeds (04 September 2015)

Nice lodges, with well maintained mod cons. Really enjoyed the hot tub and had a relaxing break.
Laurence from Herts (31 August 2015)

We loved it here, very relaxing and with the hot tub was a bonus, after a days sightseeing in london and cambridge. The only thing that I would is for the hot-tubs to be a little more private. But great location for the trains. Steak and pizza was defiantly worth a visit. Sorry that we left till last night! defiantly visit again. Beds were lovely and comfortable. We had so much space and were grateful for the few kitchen welcome items. thank you.
Vanessa from Litherland (28 August 2015)

We stayed in the roydon vip lodge (14) so we expected a really good quality accommodation, but were slightly disappointed. It was relatively clean, but needed some tlc - for example, the shower head was split, the in-shower radio broken, there was a lot of black mildew. The villa was very overlooked - there are beautiful big full wall sized window/patio doors in the lounge area and patio doors in the main bedroom but they look directly into several other lodges, so we felt very exposed. The hot tub was ok and not really overlooked, though in a very squashed fenced off area. It was meant to be checked every day - i'm not sure it was - but there were no instructions so when it reached a temperature of 40c we didn't know how to turn it down. The lodge was not terribly well equipped with cutlery/crockery which made it difficult to wait a day to use the dishwasher - though when we did use it it didn't work properly and we had to do it by hand anyway. It was handy to have a washer/dryer for the towels after the hot tub. It would be useful to have somewhere to hang the towels while you're in the hot tub. The location was ok, the main draw for us was the proximity to london which provided a good day out. We paid closer to half price than full but if I had paid full price I would have been extremely disappointed, it's definitely missing the luxury touches and attention to detail that are worth that amount of money - had I paid full price the value for money score would have been much lower.
Rosie from Nottingham (28 August 2015)

Excellent place to stay,we will be returning next year.
Rob from Nettleton (28 August 2015)

The lodge was lovely, although it could have done with some fresh paint on the walls or paintwork washed. Everything was clean. We found a note on arrival to say coming to fix the cooker cupboard next day but they didn't. Didn't spoil my time there.
Joan from Basildon (28 August 2015)

Lovely setting based within a quiet village. Excellent base for visiting london (30 minutes on train from train village train station which is 5 minutes walk from site) and other local attractions. . the park itself is very nice but there is very little on site for children which was fine with us. It is also 15 minutes into harlow which has excellent amenities - supermarkets, restaurants etc. Wifi is very poor and slow and did not work at all at certain intervals during the day. Overall a lovely base and setting.
Andy from Tyne And Wear, Jarrow (22 August 2015)

Beautiful lodge, very spacious and in a great, quiet location. Felt like a home away from home for the short time we were there. Would definitely stay again!
Amanda from London (17 August 2015)

We used roydon as a base to visit family in southend, legoland and we loved he convenience of the the train station being a short stroll away and having a train that gets you to liverpol street in 30 minutes. We had a couple of lazy days at the lodge which we really enjoyed. The marina is a quiet setting and the village has several good pubs. Will be coming back soon.
Steven from Cleethorpes (15 August 2015)

The lodge was fine but basic the location is not what was described, the broadband severely need looking at as I paid for it and could not get a signal. I went on holiday to relax and do a bit business work on my lap top where I need broadband so I had to leave early (thursday) to come home to sort appointments out. The facilities on the site and around the area where very poor for what I was expecting.
Lee from Durham (15 August 2015)

The lodge was set in a tranquil setting, which was what we were after! being so close to the train station meant we could take a trip into london. The staff were helpful and polite. The onsite restaurant was brilliant, again, the staff there were extremely kind and friendly. We look forward to going back there soon with friends!
Kayleigh from Lowestoft (14 August 2015)

The staff were not particularly welcoming. The site has a good path network around it, yet there are no bikes available for hire which was frustrating. The location next to the railway station was good, but you need to be aware about the train noise.
John from Stirling (08 August 2015)

The setting is lovely but the marina is private and the fishing is private so there is nothing to do there. The only restaurant on site was a pizza and grill which looked a bit tacky but when we went there after a disastrous meal in the crusader ph in the village it turned out to be a really nice italian restaurant.
Graeme from Rochester (08 August 2015)

We went for a week as a family with young children spending 3 days in london. Fab location close to canal walks and marina. Off peak family train in to liverpool street station, london including tube £33. short walk to roydon train station and roydon village. Good restaurant on site (although quite expensive) and in village. Hot tub was great and température was changeable for children. no park - something, even à small swing and slide would have been appreciated.
Rw from Swansea (08 August 2015)

Beautiful setting. . lodge was good but needing a bit of an update. Hot tub great, the kids loved that. . only downside internet connection is poor and you have to pay for it.
Colette from Dunfermline (08 August 2015)

I wouldn't recommend because the picture shown of the lodge isn't the actual lodge, the hot tub had a broken fence around it and the cover was two pieces of board which were braking up and falling in the water so it made unusable, it took my wife 1 1/2 hrs to clean the lodge after arriving and had half eaten ice cream in the freezer ect ect ect.
Thomas from Norfolk (07 August 2015)

Lovely break. Lodge clean and well maintained. Would certainly visit again.
Victoria (07 August 2015)

The site itself was lovely. The staff helpful. The sofa was so uncomfortable especially for a vip lodge. Had a few problems with jacuzzi and leafs and creepy crawly 's fallingb in from the tree above. . also the jacuzzi was very poorly situated for removing and replacing the cover. This probably explains the price reduction. Had a lovely peaceful time .
Mary from Essex (31 July 2015)

We had a lovely time lodge was of good standard only thing I would suggest is earlier check in times as 4pm was a little late and also check out time 10am again isn't ideal with 2 kids maybe 12 would have been better.
Paul from Hartlepool (31 July 2015)

These lodges are in dire need of renovating.
Shaun from Dundee (25 July 2015)

The main reason we chose this site was it is very handy for exploring london as the train line is a 5 minute walk away and legoland is also only about a hours drive away. The lodge (number 34) was fine but the land around it could do with a good tidy up/weeding!!!!the entrance to the marina is a bit iffy as its only a single track road. We did enjoy our stay but i'm glad I got the lodge on offer as I wouldn't have been happy paying full price for a week there.
Lindsey from Newcastle (25 July 2015)

First class acomodation with warm and friendly staff and area is quiet and picturesque.
Stephen from Newport (24 July 2015)

Fantastic base for visiting london. We wanted a couple of days in london without the kids being cooped up in a hotel room and this was ideal. The station is just at the entrance of the marina with regular trains to liverpool street, it cost £34 a day for a family travel card which included all our travel in london too. The lodge was spacious and well appointed and the hot tub was brilliant. Would definitely stay here again if heading to london and have recommended it to friends and family. Very quiet park, the trains do run alongside but they are electric and therefore fairly quiet. Could maybe do with a play area for younger visitors but all in all a brilliant holiday.
Liz from Darlington (24 July 2015)

Lovely location ..london 40 mins by train one way and cambridge 40mins the other way . really sylish lodge with hot tub.no .4..new sofas. Would of given a big fat 10 for accomodation but..although shower room was spacious the shower is tired looking and half the features didnt work .shame as everything else was spot on .will be going back soon . sue .
Susan from Isle Of Wight (10 July 2015)

This is our 3rd stay in the park and would go back again
Alan from Edinburgh (10 July 2015)

Excellent value for money, superb lodges!!!
Trevor (06 July 2015)

Couldn't of asked for anymore. Location was perfect and everything we needed was close by.
Mark from Newcastle Under Lyme (03 July 2015)

Lovely lodge, beautiful surroundings, ideal location
Michaela from Wolverhampton (29 June 2015)

We enjoyed a truly relaxing break away. The lodge was clean and spacious and surrounding grounds were well kept. The italian restaurant was amazing and everyone was so friendly. We did not want to leave. Will definitely be going back. Completely fell in love with the hot tub too.

Excellent! I was attending a royal garden party, the location was on the main line to get into london. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved the lodge and the hot tub. Didn't want to go home - hoping to go back next year for a longer stay!

I think the location is the only good thing about this. The welcoming by old guy at the reception was disappointed and bit rude. . the services are poor comparing the money that I paid. Sure not coming again to this!
Abdullah from London (01 June 2015)

Great little relaxing break. Cabin was well equipped and very comfortable. Garden with hot tub was very private. There is not much to do in the area but if like us you just want to get away from it all, it's perfect. There are shops nearby and it's just a nice little stroll to roydon where there are 3 pubs serving lovely food. Unfortunately we didn't get chance to try the on-site restaurant as it closes at 5 on sundays. Good value for money, well recommended.

Enjoyed our holiday but felt that the facilities on site were lacking slightly as the restaurant advertised was closed. As we had no vehicle also but did walk into town which is not fat, very relaxing though definitely need a car or bikes if we go again

Lodge was neat, and clean with comfortable furnishings and well stocked with utensils etc (even if some of the plates and glasses needed washing first). conveniently located for train station and only 30 minutes from london liverpool street. site shop had very limited supplies. restaurant was lovely.
Rachel from Somerset (23 May 2015)

We had a very good break at roydon, the lodge was very comfortable and the staff very helpful. there is a café at the marina, and a steak/pizza restaurant on site. the village has 3 pubs (i recommend the white hart). the only negative points were that the lodge had no washing machine (although there is a laundry at the marina), and there was a problem with internet access. these days it is a given that internet access should be available but there had been a problem with the supplier and we never got access. the staff were apologetic and were looking into the problem when we left.
Diane from Stonehaven (18 May 2015)

Very comfortable, spacious lodge. Clean and tidy. All the essentials for the kitchen provided, along with iron and ironing board. Both bedrooms had there own bathroom which was ideal. . onsite cafe and restautant - can't comment on these as we didn't visit either. Supermarkets not far away, 5 - 10 minutes drive. Paradise wildlife park only 20 - 25 minutes away. Hot tub was great!!. very enjoyable break wish we had stayed longer.

Booked last minute, we were given a chalet that wasn't ready for guests. We were moved on the second day but had to put up with being next to a building site which kinda spoilt the peace and tranquility. Without these two issues tho, our stay would have been fantastic, the log cabins were fantastic and well equipt, a really lovely place for a few days r&r :)
