It was quiet but we wanted time away so suited us fine.
Sue from Liverpool (03 September 2018)

We had a lovely holiday here, the hot tub was wonderful and was checked daily by the owner who was very friendly and my kids took a liking to him. Lovely quiet surroundings. Lodge was ok, bath hadn’t been properly cleaned when we arrived apart from that the rest of the property was clean. It would be helpful for somewhere to hang your wet towels and swimwear from the hot tub, otherwise no complaints.
Suzie from Norfolk (27 August 2018)

Lovely stay and very friendly staff
Amanda (20 August 2018)

Lodge was quiet, lovely and clean but no privacy screens next to the hot tub. There's nothing around the lodge as we expected. But if they had a small shop with local produce it would be great. We only had a chat with the bar staff and she was lovely. food was good in the bar.
Customer 4 from North Wales (17 August 2018)

Perfect in every way
Yvonne from St Albans (13 August 2018)

Myself and a friend had a lovely 4 night break at the pine lodges, there are just three at present with permission for another one to be built. they offer lovely views over the golf course. it is really peaceful to stay there, they have all the mod cons, tv, dvd player, dishwasher etc etc & the hot tub. they are a good size and we loved the break
Charlotte from Cambridge (03 August 2018)

Amazing the cabins are well equipped with up to date appliances. Hot tub was great views amazing. Noise level amazing just book and you won’t regret. . thanks . jamie
Jamie (29 July 2018)

We loved our two night stay here! everything you need, oven, fridge/freezer, fairy liquid etc. Only downside was there’s not much around (we did go to west mindland safari which was only an hour away) but there’s no big super markets etc so I would suggest doing all your shopping before hand, we just assumed there would be one fairly close but the tesco we found was 50 minutes away. Other than that it’s a lovely peaceful location, staff are friendly and your pretty much left alone which is what we wanted. Would definitely stay again and recommend anyone to stay here.
Laura from Pontypridd (29 July 2018)

Really enjoyed. Chalet was not too small especially with decking hot tub was excellent . martin and golf club staff were very helpful. Wi fi in chalet and tv dvd . good value especially with lovely countryside surroundings . will definitely return thank you
Catriona from Dundee (23 July 2018)

Lovely peaceful place, good location close to shrewsbury and not far from ludlow. Cleanliness of the lodge was slightly disappointing. Floors were dirty in the lounge and kitchen area (not ideal when we had a crawling baby) and kitchen worksurfaces needed wiping down.
Michelle (13 July 2018)

Fabulous surroundings. So quiet and peaceful. Lodge was comfy and homely. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Bar menu to choose from at the club. Our dog was accepted with no issues and we had a fabulous holiday. Would definitely return to this resort.

Jennifer (28 May 2018)

Great lodge, beautiful location, really helpful staff, had lunch at the club house the food was lovely with ample portions, whole family & our puppy enjoyed the weekend, only downside was the location unfortunately there was no shop or amenities within walking distance, but this didn’t effect our break!
Kate from South Wales (28 May 2018)

The lodge is compact but well stocked with all kitchen gadgets. The view is wonderful, very. Peaceful and relaxing. The golf course is very good as is the clubhouse. Will definitely be returning.
Stephen from Southampton (25 May 2018)

Lovely break very quite and peaceful with beautiful views
Kathryn from Hockley Essex (30 April 2018)

Lovely, clean accommodation, very well equipped with everything you need from bath towels to tea towels. Amazing surroundings, peaceful environment and the owners on-going commitment to ensure any feedback given is responded to. (see guest book in lodge). hot tub is brilliant and very well maintained.

There are 3 lodges at this site all based on the edge of the golf course. The lodge was clean but basic. The glasses provided did not match and the plastic beakers provided had seen better days. This lodge was advertised as having a ‘welcome pack’ of coffee, tea, milk and eggs. This actually consisted of a used jar of coffee, a jar containing 3 teabags, several little milk cartons and a dirty sugar jar; thank goodness I don’t take sugar. There was no eggs. The bathroom consisted of a shower over a half sized bath that really wasn’t big enough to sit in and made it difficult to stand in to shower. unfortunately the golf course was closed due to the amount of rain we experienced during our stay so we were not able to take advantage of the free round of golf however because the course was closed so was the club house. Therefore there was no facilities available i.e no bar or restaurant for the whole three days of our stay. on the plus side there was free wifi and the hot tub was hot!

We were the only people on the site so it was certainly peaceful once all the golfers had gone home. The lodge was smaller than some we have used but the facilities were good. The decking and hot tub overlooked the golf course but were very private. Were able to go into the golf club for a bacon or sausage sandwich in the morning

We had a great time, despite being caught there in horrendous snow. The lodge was nice albeit a bit cobwebbed. I think it’d benefit from a larger tv too. However the owner was very pleasant and accommodating.

These lodges are in an ideal position with beautiful surroundings but compared with past lodges we have stayed in we felt that our lodge lacked little things to make the lodge just right. In a self catering accommodation one would expect a small knife or vegetable peeler and an oven glove but there was neither, and there was only three drinking glasses in a four berth lodge. All small things but we think necessary.

29/01 to 02/02/18. Wow what can we say it's perfect . came here for a midweek break with the wife, had a text message to ask what time we was arriving off the owner, replied to tell him 1 and a 1/2 hours early he said ok everything will be ready for you. The lodge is clean comfortable and well equipped whether you are here for 3 days or 5 days like we were. The setting is idyllic with the lakes, oak trees and golf course right in front of you so peaceful. Will definitely return . gary & jackie. ( willenhall west midlands)

Lovely view. Good hot tub once we had turned temp up. Lodge could do with a bit of extra maintenance. eg bulb in fire broken, dishwasher jets blocked. Would be a bit cramped for four. For two fine.

We would have scored a 10 for all sections as the property was great but needs some small touches; hand soap in the bathroom, at least one hairdryer available in the lodge and better sofas that are larger and more comfortable. We came away to stay in and relax and the sofas hindered this. Otherwise we loved the property and will be sure to return.

Beautiful location, less than £7 for a taxi to shrewsbury which was great so we could have a drink with dinner. We book a hot tub lodge every autumn and this over all was our favourite. Only bad points were the double bed in woodpecker was quite uncomfortable as was the sofa. . however hot tub, value for money and location mean it’s a must to return for us, we even looked to book the very next month but it was fully booked.

We stayed in the mallard lodge, to me it was rather dated and worn. I know it is a dog friendly lodge but it should also cater for none dog owning clients, and to me it doesn't. the "doggy" smell of the lodge was overpowering. we were on a 4 night short break and we could not get rid of the smell for the entire time, despite using copious amounts of air freshener. the carpets also were dirty and appeared to be stained. As for the fixtures and fittings, thee was no teapot supplied, not everyone throws a teabag in a cup, some of us like to make a proper pot of tea. I could not see a smoke alarm fitted, there was a fire extinguisher but this was tucked away along side the sofa. no oven gloves supplied so if you had to take something hot out of the oven you had to use a towel or tea towel. not ideal. One the plus side the location and outlook from the lodge was very good. But over all very disappointed.
Terence from Merseyside (15 September 2017)

Beautiful location. Hot tubs excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Customer 61 from Southampton (14 August 2017)

Great golf course, always able to play, course if great condition
Lisa (11 August 2017)

We spent a lovely week in the woodpecker lodge at arscott. view out of the window was of the course and trees very peaceful and we thoroughtly enjoyed using the hot tub. martin the owner was very helpful and knowledgeable about any questions that we had about places and things to do as he went on his daily rounds. . we chose this lodge as it was only two miles from where my son is currently working and not because we are golfers but we enjoyed the experience and by the end were armchair golfers ourselves. . if you are looking for a relaxing place to stay then you will not be disappointed.
Jenny from Inverness (24 July 2017)

Cuckoo lodge was perfect for us and the hot tub was wonderful. The fact that it was also pet friendly made it extra special for us. Arscott is a beautiful place. The staff were very friendly and helpful. we had a really lovely relaxing time. My husband and father played golf and both were very impressed with the course. They also loved that they could enjoy 18 holes of golf followed by a relaxing session in the hot tub! we also went to the weekly 'theme' night at the golf club which was italian. The food was lovely, great value and all the staff were lovely. We will all definitely be back.
Caroline from Walsall (21 July 2017)

Lovely break away. Lovely location nice and peaceful just what was needed. Definately would go again.

Very miss led about the holiday not recommended for family's as there is not a lot to do there .bar wos not always open no shop so all in all not great
Craig from Alvechurch (29 May 2017)

This was a wonderful holiday. We loved the cabin, and the hot tub, and my husband lived the golf course, which was very well tended. The wooded surroundings, with lakes and trees was really beautiful. The staff were very helpful and the clubhouse served delicious food at very reasonable prices. We loved it and plan to go back soon.
Avril from Bangor (26 May 2017)

Cuckoo lodge was in a lovely location. But this was spoilt for us as heavy machinery was used every day even sunday 6am!! behind the lodge. The lodge was very dirty ,toilet seat was off when arrived.i did tell the owner, he said no one else had complained!! was unable to use the hot tub one night, it had switched its self off. . it was not the relaxing break we were looking forward to.
Cheryl from It Was Not The Relaxing Break We Were Looking Forw (12 May 2017)

One of the nicest short breaks we have taken, although, I would probably think this location might appeal more to golfers as we both are.
Graham from Wiltshire (12 May 2017)

Amazing location...fantastic views across a beautiful golf course. Lots of great places to visit around and about. Golf course and all staff were very helpful. Would recommend this lodge especially to golfers.
Alison from Doncaster (07 April 2017)

Loved our stay and would defo return.
Sarah (27 March 2017)

The chalet was clean, warm and comfortable , well equipped and was sited on a beautiful golf course. . being a golfer, I was very happy with this. The clubhouse contained a bar and restaurant but due to long term illness we were unable to use these facilities. Access to other shops, bars etc require a drive of at least 3 miles. This was the only drawback to the whole break.
Robert from Swansea (24 March 2017)

A really relaxing holiday .a warm welcome from martin and the hot tub ready for use .lovely walks with the dog and plenty of places to visit in the area . will book again .
Karen from Stockport (10 March 2017)

Martin from West Midlands (10 February 2017)

Fantastic accommodation, staff were brilliant. I have recommended this setting to many friends of ours. The location is very rural which is wonderful for a quiet break
Kim from Worcestershire (26 September 2016)

Despite the lodge enjoyed our break
Alan from Stoke (02 September 2016)

Fantastic holiday, great staff and wonderful food. would definitely recommend it.
Sarah (25 July 2016)

Loved our little break away, such a beautiful and private spot. . the cabin was fab just wish the sofa was a bit bigger to snuggle up on!. comfy chairs outside would be great for those times when you don't want to dip in your hot tub which by the way was amazing!. we were a little disappointed on arrival to find some caravans had set up pitch at the side of our cabin, martin the owner said they had set up while he wasn't there as usually they wouldn't be so close to the cabin. We managed to prop the hot tub cover up to keep our space private so it was fine! . do not really want to recommend to friends only because I want it for our secret getaway! will hopefully be back soon . thank you for a fab break!
Sue from Chorley (18 July 2016)

Magnificent break. there were a few criteria in booking this: we wanted to travel no more than a couple of hours, we wanted to be near a golf course and be in nice peaceful surroundings. we got all that and more. from other people's reviews, we knew that this would be a safe booking and were even more excited when we arrived. the lodge was well appointed, clean and had everything you could possibly need. we arrived early and the proprietor - martin (probably the most relaxed person I have ever met) was there busy sorting the hot tubs. we insisted we would be back in a short while but he was quite happy for us to unload our car and start moving in. the first thing we noticed was the fabulous view looking over the 15th tee of the golf course and the wonderful greenery and hills beyond. we were not overlooked and the tee was far enough away and we were elevated enough so that we still felt private. The hot tub was a fabulous bonus and comfortably fit 3 of us with room to spare. . . my daughter and I played golf a couple of times and the course was in lovely condition and was certainly a pleasurable stroll from hole to hole with fantastic scenery all around. . . we took our dog, who also had a wonderful time and quickly made friends with martin's red setter - rory. . we got most of our groceries from a co op not far away and we had a local indian takeaway one evening which was very good indeed. . glynn (the club pro) and max in the pro shop were very friendly and helpful, as too was martins daughter who helped us with some local geographical knowledge and kindly drew up a map for us. . we have no hesitation whatsoever recommending arscott lodges if you are looking for a peaceful break in lovely surroundings with friendly people on a fantastic golf course.
Mick from Leigh (03 June 2016)

Beautiful location and accommodation. If your looking for a relaxing quiet break, this is the place to come, nature at its finest. The hottub is amazing and the staff are wonderful. My husband, the dog and myself will be back and I don't often say that about a holiday location, loved it :)
Claire from Kent (30 May 2016)

Had a great time. the lodge was lovely
Tina from Northants (23 May 2016)

Although the lodge was very comfortable and clean , the hot tub was cleaned every day & we had a beautiful view , we would not stay there again due to the fact that the grass was cut every morning , once as early as 6.15 , the latest 7.30 . of course it has to be done as it is a golf course but surely it could be staggered a bit. Eventually we mentioned it to the owner so maybe changes will be made .
Terry from Clacton-On-Sea , Essex (20 May 2016)

It didn't start off well as on arrival there is nobody to greet you after finally finding the place, we wondered if we were in the right place. The golf club was closed and nobody was about so we didn't know what to do then a woman from the top window of the golf club shouted down that the cabin was unlocked ( not a good way to run a business, unprofessional.) . not once when we saw the owner did he ask is everything alright.
David from Lancashire (09 May 2016)

We had a wonderful weekend break here. The lodge was well equipped, very comfortable and in a beautiful location. We hope to return at some point.
Elizabeth (02 May 2016)

Can.t wait to visit again a+++++
Stef from Neath (29 April 2016)

What a lovely part of the world, the lodge was spotless and the hot tub a delight. surprised to find that there were only two lodges here, which for us proved to be a bonus.
Tracey from Pendle (04 April 2016)

Lovely warm lodge, hot tub was a bonus. Particularly enjoyed having breakfast looking out at the gorgeous views through the window. The golf club catered excellent food that was extremely good value and the staff were so friendly. a special thank you to martin the proprietor who made sure everything was tip top. This is a holiday, whether you play golf or just want to chill that we highly recommend. Thank you.
Christine (04 March 2016)

Lodge was not big enough for 4 people, luckily there was only 2 of us, hardly any space around the dining table and needs some tlc. Hot tub was gorgeous and the view from the terrace was lovley.
Susan from Warrington. (26 February 2016)

Great lodge with nice, clean and modern facilities. Hot tub ready to use on arrival too which compared to other sites usually needs first evening to heat up. Lovely views across the golf course over to hills in the distance. Park close by for easy loading and unloading too.
Robin from Frodsham (22 February 2016)

Beautiful surroundings, stunning views and very easy access to walks! you do not need to play golf to love the place. hot tub well maintained. Cabin is quite small, but warm and comfortable. There is an excellent indian takeaway just 5 minutes drive away and a great chinese in pontesbury. 3 adults and 2 small dogs - stayed for a week. Would definitely stay again.
Agota from Alton (19 February 2016)

Beautiful lodge in a beautiful spot, lovely relaxing break. Going to make this our little get away place every year.
Sallyanne from Wolverhampton (12 February 2016)

Lovely quiet lodges 2 next to each other in very private and stunning surroundings ..great for quiet retreat away from everything . club house is across the path where u can grab some food but we bought our own and also travelled to local amenities also and shrewsbury is short drive which is amazing for shopping. are going to book again when a quiet retreat is needed . great for doggies also as the gold course offers great walking opportunity.
Joanne from Halesowen (08 February 2016)

Lovely lodge in a great sucluded location. Hot tub was fab & wfi connection was brilliant. Lodge spotless & the staff was lovely & helpful. Will visit again & highly recommend x
Rebecca from Manchester (18 January 2016)

We had a fab long weekend break. It was just what we needed after a busy christmas, all we wanted was to relax in peaceful surroundings and that is exactly what we did . the lodge was clean and really well equipped. The hot tub was great to relax in with a nice glass of bubbly looking out at beautiful views.martin came each day to check the tub , he even left us some milk and eggs for when we arrived ! will most definitely be back xx
Emma from Birmingham (11 January 2016)

Enjoyed the whole 4 days we were here. Didn't move off site once it was lovely. Really nice staff and martin was a great help. The lodge next door has pets so they must be kept on a lead as the dog next door ran straight through our lodge and onto the spare bed covered in mud. Only from leaving the door open to let some air through. Hot tub is excellent. Very lovely at night to sit in and relax. Will come back for sure.
Laura (11 January 2016)

Perfect for a relaxing weekend with friends. There are only two lodges and we booked both. They are set in a very peaceful location overlooking the golf coarse. We found the staff very helpful, before and during our stay. There is a local shop a short drive away and on the outskirts of shrewsbury we found morrisons and an m&s food store.
Val from Bridgend (02 November 2015)

A fabulous stay. We all enjoyed the hot tub which was well maintained every day by martin and the cabin was very cosy. The view over the golf club is fabulous as you can see right across to the shropshire hills. Autumn was a lovely season to be there as the trees and surrounding area was beautiful. A lovely start to the october half term.
Kate from Cheshire (26 October 2015)

A newly established x 2 log cabin site situated on the edge of arscott golf course, pontesbury, shropshire. views of the shropshire hills and the golf course can be seen from the veranda. . . we arrived slightly early on the afternoon of friday 25th september and there was a memorial day being held for one of the members, tony, who had lost his life to cancer. it was lovely to see that the golf club were holding such a day for a previous member and the mood of the members were as sunny as the day. . . we went to see if the clubhouse could accommodate us with lunch as we hadn't eaten. nothing was too much trouble for the staff and within five minutes of ordering two plates of steaming hot fish and chips were brought out. the food was lovely and the whole bill including one alcoholic drink came to around £15. . if you are planning to eat in the club house and you have babies / toddlers, there isn't a high chair but we always carry a booster seat which we attached to one of the chairs, with no bother at all. the staff were even happy to leave cbeebies on the tv so my daughter could watch it whilst having her lunch. . after lunch we went for a walk on the outskirts of the golf course and crossed the road and walked a good mile or so through the fields which was nice and relaxing. . we started heading back to the cabin around 4pm. . there was a welcome pack of provisions, tea, coffee, sugar, muesli and butter which were handy. the cabin was stocked up well with toilet roll and various cleaning products. there were also a good supply of towels for washing and for drying pots. . martin, the owner visited us on the saturday as he needed to check out the water in the hot tub. we asked him to recommend places to visit and he suggested the stiperstones which was about a 30 minute drive from the cabin. as the weather was so beautiful again, we set off there for the day. . we would recommend you visit it. the walk was absolutely stunning. it's a fairly easy walk but if you are a little unstable on your feet you might need a couple of walking poles to help you, especially over the rocks near to the top. when you get to the top the views are absolutely breath-taking. . also, worth a trip is a visit to the bog. no I am not being, rude, I mean the bog visitor centre. it is run by volunteers and they sell refreshments such as home made cake and mugs of tea, coffee and chocolate and the prices are very reasonable. they also sell books and local crafts. . one the way home we stopped off at a near by garage which was run by the co-op to stock up on petrol and food - the food wasn't at all overpriced and there were some good deals to be had. . the following day we went for a drive to the long mynd (cardingmill valley) - it takes about 40 minutes to get there by car from the cabin. we had been there before just under two years ago and were keen to return and it did not disappoint. . . again, with the weather being around the 20 degree mark there were plenty of people out and about enjoying the views. we had a drive around first and then went to the car park, which is owned by the national trust - the charge for the car park is around £4 to park all day. we parked up and then set of for a walk. there is a visitors centre, which sells refreshments and there are toilets. . monday, was our last day and we had to vacate the property by 10 am. we set off home but saw signs for a place called acton scott, a historic working farm. to be perfectly honest, we didn't think it would be up to much but we were pleasantly surprised and again would recommend a visit. it was just under £9 each for adults to enter and under 4's (i think) were free. our daughter had an amazing time there. the staff there were really friendly, attentive and well educated on how the farm used to be run and how it was currently being used. we were there a good few hours and definitely plan to return when our daughter is a little bit older. . we had our lunch in the café there and the bubble and squeak, well top marks to the chef. it was absolutely delicious. . . we couldn't fault the weather during our stay, especially with it being the end of september. . . shropshire is a beautiful part of the united kingdom and we plan to return in the near future.
Helen from Swadlincote (28 September 2015)

Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here. We were here for a week and it was just the kind of holiday we were looking for. Beautiful scenery and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It is only several miles from the centre of shrewsbury so all amenities are easily reachable but at the same time the location was wonderfully quiet and rural. It's a lovely drive into the golf club with the lake and beautiful green (and the surrounding countryside). the golf club is just across from the lodges and has a bar and restaurant if you wish to go out of an evening (you can also get breakfast there). the lodges are perfectly placed to view the course, lake and the countryside beyond.
