Lovely setting, friendly and helpful staff. . only thing it is missing is a pub/bar/shop on-site and it would be perfect.
Nic (07 October 2016)

Lovely place, have been twice and would definitely go back again.
Lyn from Birmingham (30 September 2016)

Wonderful accommodation, only snag the mattresses on the single beds needed to be replaced you could feel the springs.
Chris from Bolton (30 September 2016)

The cabin we were staying in could have done with a bit of modernisation especially to the outside. . if I would use this site again I would book a cabin with a hot tub. . excellent for the dog
David from Lichfield (25 September 2016)

This is our 15th year bril time
Stephen from Stoke On Trent (25 September 2016)

One small niggle, the trees meant that even at mid-day, hardly any natural light got into the lodge. apart from that we really enjoyed our holiday.
Joy from Huntly (24 September 2016)

We stayed in the murray this time, it was bigger than needed but was all that was available at short notice. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery etc, it was clean and the tea/coffee welcome package was very much appreciated. The microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher were all full size and worked well. The lodge is looking tired, you can't get away from that especially in the bathrooms and the two twin rooms which smelt strongly of damp. The location of the lodge was excellent and the outside patio area was lovely. I have to say that the lady who greeted us on our arrival was lovely, very friendly and helpful I only wish I could remember her name!
Bronya from I Have To Say That The Lady Who Greeted Us On Our (18 September 2016)

A very enjoyable week spent at the peaceful and secluded penllwyn lodges. The lodge was fully equipped with the only observation was that some of the appliances (fridge and microwave )were probably overdue for renewal, but this did not spoil our break. Would definately visit again.
John from Taunton (17 September 2016)

This was a lovely holiday. For me my husband and my dogs. The staff are very friendly. The area was quiet and peaceful just what we needed. the lodge was lovely and warm all the time. we will be going again. . a lovely holiday for people that love to walk. And they have there own golf course
Jacqui from Warrington (16 September 2016)

Lovely, peaceful location. cabin clean and comfortable - great to be able to bring dogs.
Anne from Stafford (10 September 2016)

Lodges very dark inside. dark woodstain combined with very dim energy saving bulbs means that you almost need a torch to see !. the shower needs a pump to make it usable. Its so weak it will not wash soap off skin !. mosquitoes and moths at night mean its impossible to have a window open. I realise its in woodlands, however a brghter interior would make a massive difference
Customer 11 (09 September 2016)

Lovely break away from it all in the woods in a log cabin. Very peaceful, friendly staff. My dog loved it. If your looking for a chilled out break, this is it.
Kevin from Telford (07 September 2016)

Very good value, clean, and the leather settee very comfy. Everything worked well, and help was at hand where needed.
Thomas from Llandysul. (04 September 2016)

It was very quiet and pleasant very relaxing.
Anita from Haverhill (03 September 2016)

Lovely oaks lodge huge plenty of room for our 4 adults and 7yr . the drive to some of the lodges on the park could be a little scary if not used to it . it really is a base though apart from the scenery which is gorgeous for a family every thing is a drive away ..within a hour and half drive we visited liverpool, west midlands safari park, king auther labryth, and dan y gulf caves national caves centre and aberystwyth coast . we had a lovely week weather wise also . walking down to the animals was a nice evening activity and watching the squirrels collecting the nuts you put out is a pleasure to . the lodge was equipped well we cooked for 5 most nights in the kitchen and we actually took some board games with for evening but there was also a dvd player. . staff were helpful and even posted a teddy we left behind . my only suggest and this isn't a reflection of the park .is borth zoo.don't go we drove to it didn't even go in prices are high and you arrive and what looks like porta cabins over grown . a little longer drive and we visited westmdlands safari higher price but much more of a day out and a free return visit included .
Lee (03 September 2016)

Excellent location, quiet, peaceful.
William from Haslingden, Lancs (29 August 2016)

Absolutely fantastic holiday, it felt like home straight away ! amazing views, peaceful, quite, relaxing location with a beautiful hot tub. Couldn't of asked for a better holiday great value for money, would go back again and again 10/10.
Jessica from Wolverhampton (22 August 2016)

We were very disappointed to find that the fishing lake did not actually have enough fish in it to be called a 'fishing' lake. We had booked this particular site because of the fishing lake. The cabin was very nice and comfortable. The shower in the cabin was not very good as it wasn't very powerful. Enjoyed the holiday but in the middle of nowhere and let down by the fishing lake.
Paula from Omskirk (13 August 2016)

Loved the location, we were on the far side of the camp. So couldn't hear the traffic from the nearby road so almost perfect. One criticism would be we booked a lodge that allowed dogs as we had two with us, but their was no gate at the end of our balcony so had to make sure the dogs were well away from the door to keep them from not running out. also we bbq two nights but there was no flat ground and lost a sausage down the hill, it would of been nce to have some garden furniture which other lodges did have, but overall a great place to spend a few days.
Helen from Sandbach (13 August 2016)

I have been visiting this site for over 30 years but will never go again. Electrical pat testing is six months out of date. Water pressure was erratic and the temperature would turn to scalding in an instant for no reason .. meaning anyone with children may require a hospital visit! yes it really was that serious. Wifi connection was a joke and you couldn't even check social media after 5pm let alone stream a movie. On the surface the cabins are clean but look closely and you will find lots of areas which haven't been cleaned in ages. To top it all staff weren't helpful when we mentioned the above. So after 30 years of visiting my family will now be finding a better site.
Caroline from Wakefield (06 August 2016)

A friendly and tranquil place stay an excellent base to explore mid wales.lodge very spacious and comfortable.
Sarah from Newport Pagnell (04 August 2016)

Amazing time, fantastic place but let down by broken oven which does switch on or off only on mains plus the temperature only go up to 150c too low for roasting.
Pablo from Oxford (27 July 2016)

The surroundings and the cabin itself were immaculate and had a very cosy feel to it. As it was weekend when we arrived, the staff were not available but had left a (very confusing!!) map of how to find our cabin. Overall a very positive experience, although quite costly
Nicola from Burnley (17 July 2016)

Had another great holiday at the lodges
Julian from Warrington (15 July 2016)

If you want peace and quiet this is the ideal place . relaxing in the hot tub was the icing on the cake . would have liked better broadband and a tv in the bedroom .
Gill from Gloucester (15 July 2016)

Wonderful peaceful surroundings, pleasant staff. highly recommended if looking for peace and quiet.y
Beverley from Bridgend (04 July 2016)

Had a lovely time. Never stayed in a lodge before and it was home from home. Kitchen fully equipped with all you need to cook your meal sect. Nice and clean, very relaxing. Have booked to go again.
Susan from Bristol (24 June 2016)

We all enjoyed and greatly appreciate the service
Gary from Eastcote, Ruislip, Middx, (10 June 2016)

Gorgeous location. Decor is very dated and makes the lodge quite dark inside but everything is clean and comfortable.
Natasha from Northampton (05 June 2016)

These lodges are beautifully located and provide a tranquil relaxing break for all ages. We stayed in the foxgloves and my parents in the larches. Both lodges were clean and spacious, a little dated but perfectly acceptable as accommodation. . you are really in the middle of vast countryside, located midway on the main road between welshpool and newtown. There is no shop within walking distance so be sure to bring all you need to start your holiday. The nearest pub, the nags head, is about one mile walk down the canal tow path. A lovely place to visit for food or to stop for a drink. . these lodges are affordable, set in stunning countryside and a great place to ensure a getaway from it all - break. My only gripe is we all agreed the pillows are rock hard! maybe bring your own :)
Ailie from Cheshire (05 June 2016)

Wonderful. Ideal for a getaway from everything. Don't expect mobile signal or wifi. It's fantastic for peace.
Rebecca from Port Talbot (31 May 2016)

Cracking little break - lodge was as expected, staff exceptionally helpful, lovely setting :). . played golf on the adjoining course - good value for money!
David (30 May 2016)

The lodge was very tired and very dark indeed. Access and parking was a little iffy. A one way system would be better.
Hilary from Shropshire (27 May 2016)

Lodges are in a beautiful setting, but are rather tired. the golf course restaurant is visible. From the lodges, but we were unable to walk to it as no dogs are allowed on the course. The area is beautiful but you do need a car
Terry from Wisbech (21 May 2016)

Back again for the 3rd time this year in november
Donna from Walsall (15 May 2016)

Lovely and peacefull.
Christine from Wigan (13 May 2016)

Beautiful area. Surroundings ideallic. Peaceful. Lodge was perfect. Second visit after 8 years. No changes which was refreshing in this day and age. unfortunately this time a large party of guests in another lodge did not respect the peace and quiet others paid for. And continued a loud outside gathering rather drunkly until early hours. Ignoring the clearly stated signs to close noise at a designated time. No staff on hand to deal with the noise. But that said, that was nothing to do with the lodges. But, to do with the inconsiderate guests. So if you book a break here... remember... theres no clubhouse, for a reason. Guests here prefer to be woken by the stunning wildlife. Fantastic base for some great scenic days out. Overall great. Returning soon.
Karen from Mountain Ash (02 May 2016)

Lovely location to stay with plenty of local walks and short distance to lots of local attractions.
Jemima from Anglesey (24 April 2016)

We had a lovely holiday with our family and 2 grandchildren and it could not have gone much better. The reception people were lovely and very helpful.we thought the surroundings were fab. Myself + my wife have bked another 4 nights in july !
Howard from Leicester (28 March 2016)

We had a lovely 3 night break over easter. Such good value for the price and allowing our dog was a bonus. The hot tub was lovely and a welcome sight after a long walk! we walked along the canal to the nags head for a few drinks (dog friendly!) which is about a mile from the lodge. We would definitely stay again!
Charlotte from Salisbury (28 March 2016)

Very nice place. . will be back again.
Mindaugas from London (28 March 2016)

Lovely and peacefull. Loads of wildlife. Staff very helpful. Golf club food and facilities was excellent and good value for money. Would definitely stay again.
Neil from Merthyr Tydfil (11 March 2016)

Excellent stay we have been here a few times over the years, still as nice as I remembered. will return.
Eileen from Liverpool (06 March 2016)

We have been coming here twice a year for the last 8 years. We come for the weekend at the beginning and end of the year with our friends and our children and we love that we can totally relax. Our children love to play in the woods and we feel completely safe to let them do so. The surroundings are beautiful and although there is not much to do, that is the thing that we love - to escape the rat-race.
Cheryl from Dudley (06 March 2016)

Fabulous, we rented two cabins next to each other, the heating and lights on for our arrival, both cabins spotless, well equiped and very welcoming! site was clean, tidy and lovely setting!
Susan from Wirral (06 March 2016)

Set on a steep hillside under pine trees. The views from the lodge were lovely. all lodges in their own area and well spaced. they were all slightly different and we would have been happy to stay in any one of them.
Christine from Newport Isle Of Wight (04 March 2016)

Beautiful location, plenty of good walks. we walked along the canal daily with our dog so peaceful, but close enough either side to a town so everything thing was available within 10 mins drive.
Paul from Stoke On Trent (27 February 2016)

Lovely setting if you are after a peaceful location and surroundings. The lodge was good value, facilities are basic but adequate . would stay again.
Moustafa from London (19 February 2016)

Very quiet picturesque place, the cabin was well equipped with lots to do in the nearby towns. We had a great stay and would recommend it to families or couples wanting a relaxing break.

Excellent lodge in a great setting will definitely be booking again
Helen from Rhyl (19 February 2016)

It was just what the doctor ordered quite and peaceful. great location and fantastic views. everything you could ask for with the accommodation fully equipped with all essentials. it was great for us as we could bring our dog along with us and enjoy great walks.
Bridget (18 February 2016)

Good value for money. Wonderful location with lots of wildlife. Staff very helpful when we had a problem with the shower it was fixed the next day.
Laura from St Helens (17 February 2016)

Loved it . the best
Tessa from Wolverhampton (14 February 2016)

Very relaxed , quiet location , comfortable , everything you need is there , hot tub was a bonus !!! would highly reccommend
Louella from Shrewsbury (12 February 2016)

Unfortunately the fishing on site is poor -no one caught anything-and as we went for this reason we would not return
Peter from Stotfold (05 February 2016)

Our second holiday here and as before the staff were very friendly and helpful, though our needs were not great. Very peaceful, especially when you have a lodge on the side of the ridge away from the road. Dark and quiet nights make for a restful stay. Better this time as the pub down the road was open with good beer and food and welcoming open fire.
David (18 January 2016)

We loved every minute can't wait to go back
Paul from Caerphilly (15 January 2016)

Stayed last year and will be going again. this is tranquility at its best with nature at your window. Excellent accommodation and setting.
Kevin from Griffithstown (12 January 2016)

Great views, clean and well equipped accommodation
Lisa from West Midlands (03 January 2016)

The lodge needs cleaning up it was smelly and things weren't that clean so not good value for money.
Kevin (03 January 2016)

We would have enjoyed the holiday more if we had only chosen a nicer lodge in a better position.

Brilliant place and looking forward to visiting again next year
Wayne from Redditch (09 November 2015)

Quiet and restful.
Lesley from Willenhall (01 November 2015)

It was extremely over priced for what it is. I've stayed at better lodges for a lot less money.
Leanne from Newport (26 October 2015)

What a place it is, everything is spot on and very friendly staff. Stayed here earlier in the year and was that good we basicly booked our next trip on the way home . couldn't as for a better place for a little break and the course is stunning . . we are already planning next year's litter trip (or 2). might even try the cabin with hot tub next year with the missus
Peter from Wigan (12 October 2015)

I stayed in 'little log' with my husband & dog at the begining of october for 4 nights. The lodge was lovely, cosey and clean. the surrounding area of the site was pretty and well kept. Very peaceful and relaxing. would have given full marks all around but our boiler unfortunately broke down so we were without hot water for a day & half; unfortunately the shower wasnt fitted very well either so wasnt a great alternative to a hot bath. however must stress this didnt ruin our break at all. we contacted the site and an engineer was sent swiftly to look into it. we loved this place and have already booked again for next year.
Andrea from Manchester (07 October 2015)

Perfect for a family get together.
Customer 72 from Llandysul (06 October 2015)

This was by far the best holiday i've had in the last 4 years. I would recommend it to anyone & already have. Perfect getaway.
Harold from Gosport (03 October 2015)

Once again had a great break at the lodges.
J P from Warrington (29 September 2015)

Second time staying and what a treat. Perfect surroundings and lovely people.
Andrew (20 September 2015)

Alpine lodge - pleasant stay, all very clean and tidy, beds were very comfortable, a downside was the lack of lighting in the lodge. As the lodge was surrounded by trees which is great they did hamper the amount of light getting into the lodge, therefore higher volume of interior lighting would be beneficial. the shower over the bath was not good, either scalding hot or cold, could do with updating, but on the whole a pleasant site overlooking the golf course and within easy access of places of interest, powis castle, ludlow, shrewsbury, lake vrynwy etc
Janet from Cumbria (17 September 2015)

Great place to stay in beautiful surroundings with lots to see in the surrounding area. Dogs loved it too!

Great location perfect for us with a dog to walk straight onto the canal with dog friendly pubs en route. Unfortunately the lake wasnt fishing well when we were there but otherwise a nice break.
Hayley from Leicester (31 August 2015)

We had a great time the children loved it the staff where so helpfull .we would definitely go again
Valerie from Wigan (31 August 2015)

The lodge is nicely placed in the woods, overlooking a golf course. . . there's a small play area on the site and a few animals, so about 30 mins entertainment for the kids. . didn't see any staff, (excluding site maintenance who were driving around breaking the site speed limit), until we left.
Matthew from Stafford (31 August 2015)

Beautiful location and grounds. Cabin very 'tired' and dusty though, old, single glazed windows, old carpets etc. . having said that, the children loved it and the view was gorgeous.

Lovely location, lovely views. Park is well kept and maintained. one thing that would be more useful would be to have the shop on site more stocked with essentials, milk, bread etc.

Beautiful and peaceful surroundings and well maintained gardens. living space in the lodge was spacious with en-suite bathrooms. . . negative points are: . 1. The access to the lodge was too concealed. 2. The path leading to the lodges was quite steep.

Beautifully maintained site. Lodge very clean, spacious and well kept. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Lovely walks to be had along the canal in either direction. Lots of wildlife to see and hear on the site, bats and owls at night. Squirrels, various small birds and buzzards during the day. The shetland ponies were adorable, even my 18 year old was smitten! as a city dweller the peace and quiet was really appreciated.

Beautiful setting, lovely views, peaceful and tranquil. took advantage of the free fishing on the on-site lake, also cycle rides on the canal path and a couple of visits to the lakeside golf course. Nice on-site shop and staff were really pleasant and helpful. Lodge was traditionally decorated and furnished, but had everything you could want and was very comfortable. Lovely spot for couples or family getaways. would really recommend the nags head just a short walk from the site on the canal path..lovely food.

Approach road very uneven. Main entrance signing could be made more obvious.
Kenn from Newbury (25 July 2015)

The lodges were set back from a picnic area, a small pond which had ducks and geese on it which the kids loved feeding. There was even a couple of miniature ponies and a llama in the field beside the kids play park and for the adults a golf course. It was very quiet and peaceful, but not too far away in the car to reach civilization ( 7m left or right) once you reached the main road.
Billy from Glasgow (25 July 2015)

Really relaxing and clean place to stay

It was the perfect place for us to stay as a base to tour wales on our motorbikes. Facilities were excellent and the welcome pack offered plenty of things to do and see. Our evenings were spent with a bbq beer and music. Happy days

I have been to penllyn lodges numerous times and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area. My only grievance is that they do not sell newspapers on site.

Lovely area and beautiful view from the lodge with lots of walks along the canal and surrounding area and it was great to relax in the hot tub. however, the lodge itself although clean, was very dark inside and very dated. the over the bath shower was adequate but the nylon shower curtain had seen better days. the lino in the kitchen had lifted and the kitchen equipment needed updating. if it wasn't for these issues with the lodge we woul certainly be interested in going back at some time in the future.
