Great time, facilities and service.
Denise (27 August 2018)

I really wanted to enjoy the forest experience more but found a few fundamentals detracted considerably from the enjoyment. First, the positives: our gold oak 2 bed was reasonably spacious and spotlessly clean. The setting is beautiful with lovely forest walks. Particularly nice seeing deer wandering by as if we weren't there. Negatives: the light over the bathroom mirror wasn't working leaving the bathroom very dark. Reported on day 1. Replaced on day 4 with the explanation of 'the bulbs have been on order for ages'- come on, any bulb can be bought at most hardware or diy stores. If you were designing a collection of 50 or so cabins in the woods from scratch, would you 1. Build them in an orientation with the hot tub, bbq and outside eating area exposed and facing the roads / paths to other cabins, so you have a regular flow of cars, cyclists and walkers passing? I don't suppose you would. 2. Roof all cabins with sheet metal so that rain and heavy droplets from the trees are deafening in the upstairs bedroom? no you wouldn't, not least as the peace and quiet of the location is a selling point. And yet, both are true of all cabins. On day 4, it's a nice warm evening so decide to fire up our gas bbq for the evening, only to find the gas bottle empty. Surely someone checks this on changeover? apparently not. No bbq for us as reception closes at 6. Reported to reception the following morning. No apology but a 'thank you for letting us know' and a 'should be' when asked if it would be replaced the same day. It was replaced after being chased in the afternoon. Didn't watch much tv as we were trying to get away from tech for a week, but reception was patchy at best on hd channels when raining. . activities were expensive compared to other similar sites. We received a message via our tv every day saying that spaces were available for most activities the following day, which wasn't surprising, given the prices. . . quite disappointing overall when it could have been so much better with some thought at the off-set and on-going attention to detail.
Mark from Stanford (20 August 2018)

Only complaint would be that the glasses, cutlery and crockery werent very clean, and that the oven didnt work
Graham from South Shields (17 August 2018)

Expensive for what you get. Staff turning up without notice or knocking. Cabin needs updating, missing tiles, doors not locking easily, stains on chairs. Etc
Andy from Sheffield (13 August 2018)

Great break, very relaxing in a lovely setting.
Lauren from Hartlepool (06 August 2018)

Beautiful location and lodge, with everything you need. The hot tub is a must. The on-site bar/restaurant served lovely food and refreshments. The shop stocked basics and lovely souvenirs.
Joanne from Castleford (06 August 2018)

Lovely retreat tranquil. A place to rediscover family time.
Elaine from Huby (27 July 2018)

It was the 2nd time this year I had been to kedly ,both times I had an amazing time, well equipped lodge comfy beds and of course the hot tub
Jane from Nuneaton (16 July 2018)

Far from luxury. Dirty. Unkept. Fixtures and fittings poorly maintained.
Samantha (13 July 2018)

Beth from Barnsley (09 July 2018)

Patricia from Leigh (29 June 2018)

Eddie from Home (29 June 2018)

Great holiday staff friendly great lodge would definitely visit again
Angela from Leeds (15 June 2018)

Lovely place which was secluded. Paid 750 for 3 nights but didn't feel the lodge was worth the price. Hot tub wasnt powerful enough and the smoke alarm went off everytime we cooked despite fan and lodge doors being open. Arrived at 3pm and despite the lodge being ready and empty the staff wouldn't give us the key until 4pm.this was ludicrous considering the price I paid. Save or money or go and have a lovely week abroad. Poor.
Lee from Colne (04 June 2018)

Excellent location , helpful staff, tranquil setting .
Gail from Beverely (01 June 2018)

Sam from Leeds (14 May 2018)

Lovely place the only let down is there being no service on your phones so no calls or internet, and I feel check in is so late at 4pm you have lost a day really
Andy from Cockfield (11 May 2018)

The holiday it's self was good but the road down to the cabins needs some attention

The only slight disappointment was the positioning of the hot tubs,at the front of the lodges so not as private as cropton site.

Log cabin, hot tub log fire and lots of snow, me my fella and the dogs just like some thing out of a romantic film .
Carolyn from Worksop (22 January 2018)

We enjoyed the hot tub. The cabin requires dusting of beams particularly in the upstairs bedroom.

Lodge was lovely and clean but it would have been nice to have had a complimentry basket of logs for log burner on the first day, it was cold and wet then we had heavy snow it would have been nice on the first night to have had a fire burning, the heaters are not strong enough for these big lodges. apart from that we had a nice few days
Mrs Jeanette from Barnsley (19 January 2018)

Our second time here could not fault the place we have booked up again for next year

It is an expensive option we would not have gone without nhs discount. A beautiful place. Calm and quiet. My littlest loved the forest ranger time with robin. Although we were happy with wifi / connection only in the cafe £40 for a wifi charge for 5 days is extortion ..virtually being held to ransom if you want that option.as no note of this is booking or if there is it is not stressed enough. Our holiday great as not fussed about wifi

Regular log cabin visitors & it wasn't worst place we've stayed but not the best either - we probably expected more because of the price we paid. . we visited over new year & were lucky to get there due to the snow so decided to stay on site for the first 24 hours until it started to clear. . we were a family of 4 including a 3 month old baby + 2 dogs. Babies needs take up so much room in the car so we only took small essentials (tea, milk cereal etc) i'm so glad we did as the shop prices were extortionate - a bottle of prosecco was £20!! . on arrival as we were snowed in we had no other choice but to have lunch in the cafe. It was satisfactory. Although the takeaway options were ideal for an evening the cabin without any food. . we eventually got our key for our cabin & were impressed with the cleanliness. . but there were a few small issues - it was freezing even with all the radiators on we notified reception & they had a brand new heater delivered straight away which made all the difference. . I was disappointed there wasn't a washing machine as all previous cabins i've stayed in seem to have them as standard & they are essential when packing light & spend much of your time on muddy winter walks. . also hooks - there wasn't anywhere to hang towels or robes inside or on the veranda for hot tub towels only - you only realise how useful they are when there isn't any! . once the snow had cleared we attempted to venture out to find a shop so we could finally eat inside our cabin. Unfortunately we got about 1 mile up the long drive way hit a pot hole that was so bad it destroyed the tyre instantly - we returned to reception to ask someone to help us find a local garage or mobile tyre fitter as it was new year's eve we had no luck so eventually had to get the aa out. The pot holes definitely need sorting. . . the one thing I cannot fault were the staff & customer service - I believe they were short staffed due to people being unable to get in due to the snow but they were incredibly helpful & first class. I would return for this reason alone. . it just turned out a very expensive weekend for us as we were forced into eating in the cafe & buying from the over priced on site shop. Not including the new tyre! all that on top of the nee year weekend prices!

Lovely although cabins are quite close together. . a few maintenance issues within the cabin. No manuals to help work electrical items. Etc. But all in all a lovely place. Riffle shooting is a must, great fun.

£40 for 4 days of wi-fi is extortionate but you're left with no connection to the outside world without it. Everything is overly expensive. . our cabin was lovely barring some obvious aging, we also reported tatty and torn bedding on the first morning we were there that was never changed. Staff did come to check the problem but we were out and the never returned.
Tom (03 November 2017)

We loved our holiday in keldy and would definitely recommend to others. We did think the entertainment package was rather pricey after the money we had to paid to stay there but other than that we had a great time.

I loved keldy forest and the accomodation we stayed it. However on the first morning of our stay we wanted to hire so bikes. We walked to the shop to find the door locked and a sign up saying we needed to go to the restaurant. So we did but the lady in there wasnt listening and obviously had not been informed that shop was closed. I repeated what the sign said but again she told me I needed to go to the shop. It didnt spoil the week however put us off.. on the first night we sat at the bar and there was no sign of staff for at least 10 minutes and then when someone did turn up she served a lady who had literally just gotten up from her table to place an order. I also feel staff knowledge of the forest would be an advantage as id asked about the red route and cycle route and the lady pointed me to the map which I had to purchase which was no use as it had no bearings. . overall fantastic week if you dont want any interaction with staff.

An amazing park set in beautiful forest surroundings. The staff were very helpful and the silver birch lodge we stayed in was set in a great position. It’s a real break from the hustle and bustle. We would definitely stay again.

Lodge was very good loved the hot tub. Disappointed no hair dryer in lodge. Also no dvd so could,nt play our own films. And no radio. If you wanted the radio you had to have the tv on and then only when you had paid for it. I thought £10 per day for the wi-fi was too expensive £65 for the extra channels was also expensive.

Ok apart from one of members of staff backing golf buggy into side of van while packed outside cabin
Shirley from York (04 September 2017)

Loved the location but for the price of the holiday the cabin was a bit out dated and wasnt very clean. There was dead insects that had been squashed on the walls. The toilet wasnt properly cleaned. The shop and resteraunt were way over priced cost nearly £10 for a pizza that looked no different than a frozen pizza. The hot tube was awkward, quite hard to get the lid off and wasnt that hot. Wouldnt go back not worth the priced we paid

We really enjoyed our stay at keldy, staff friendly, accommodation was clean, hot tub water quality checked every day by staff. Food at the hub was cooked well and not too pricey. You are a little out of the way from anywhere so be prepared.. although we saw grocery deliveries being made by an asda van to some cabins. Dogs loved the trails into the forest.

Well equipped, clean and spacious cabin. I think that the entertainment /internet package is expensive when you have already paid a substantial amount for the accommodation especially as there is no phone reception so it is necessary to reach the outside world.
Michelle from Durham (21 August 2017)

A wonderful short break. Loved the lodge and the area. Very expensive for any extras though such as wifi, bike hire etc. I think the prices need to be more reasonable rather than taking advantage of people in the middle of no where. Overall though a great place to relax!

A wonderful short break. Loved the lodge and the area. Very expensive for any extras though such as wifi, bike hire etc. I think the prices need to be more reasonable rather than taking advantage of people in the middle of no where. Overall though a great place to relax!
Emma (21 August 2017)

We really enjoyed staying here, went with hubby a 27 year old & 14 year old. lovely relaxing weekend. Good base for york, whitby, scarborough etc. Would definately stay again. The only thing that wasn't ver comfy was the sofa but you can live with that
Fiona from Prestatyn (14 August 2017)

We stayed in cabin 10 spotless it was a surprise for my husbands birthday which he loved. Lovely weekend away with my family, we definitely would love to go back sometime next year.

Third time I have stayed here and it just gets better. Staff were so helpful. Much more activities than my last visit. Rifle shooting was excellent and training by staff excellent. Facilities and rooms again excellent. Will definitely be going back
Thomas from Hedon East Yorkshire (07 August 2017)

Was good but the cabin we stayed in had a leaking shower try upstairs so floor was constantly wet upstairs.

The lodge & cafe was nice, location was great. All clean. We arrived shortly before 4 & was told we had to wait til 4, most places would try to get us into the lodge early but there was no flexibility. We were disappointed that the zip wire & archery that was advertised was only on on a thursday morning & was told it would be very busy (of course it would be if it was only one morning a week) we liked the idea we could or takeaway from the restaurant & the ready meals from the shop were great.

2nd visit to this gorgeous place we love it the cabins are amazing beautiful place only issue was during our visit a cabin further down the road decided to have a fight at 11pm, language was vile clearly a physical fight went on a long time ruined our peaceful time in the hottub woke our children and ruined our night, we complained the next day and were told someone would come to speak to us but never heard another word since
Stephanie from Hartlepool (31 July 2017)

Golden oak lodge could have been cleaner and fresher when we arrived. Deck should have been swept. the floors were really quite dusty. windows had smeary marks on them throughout. we enjoyed our time at keldy. we thought the bar and terrace area were great. we sampled the takeaway pizza but were surprised at the £2.50 delivery charge as we were literally 20 steps away at no.8 then our deliverer waited expectantly for a tip also ! however the peaceful setting was a winner and we had many brilliant walks with our dog around the many pathways. the internet charge was expensive for an intermittent service.

Excellent place to stay for a relaxation or long walk should you wish. The lodge was spotless on the inside. The staff could not have been more helpful. It is in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal..bliss!
Brian (28 July 2017)

This is a great base to visit lovely places in north yorkshire. The golden oak lodge was very clean and cosy. We stayed in lodge 11 which was a great location. could of had a few more activities for smaller children. Shop is a little expensive and check in was short and sweet. You can pay to use wi-fi throught your stay if you wish which in my opinion should be free. We would return.

Paula from Lincolnshire (21 July 2017)

We were very dissapointed on the outside of the log cabin and deck area it was shabby and unkept we didnt expect the decking furnuture to be a pub table and bench that was dirty we were glad we took our own chairs inside the log cabin was clean but needs updating would have been good if at least an iron was provided ive been in alot better log cabins the hot tub was a bonus the staff were very friendly couldnt watch the television unless you paid for it all other log cabins weve stayed in these basic things were included we wouldnt return to keldy again

We really enjoyed our holiday in keldy forest and would definitely recommend , lovely area and very relaxing . only two complaints were the costing of wifi / movie packages , way too expensive and having to buy logs for stove, couldn't you supply a basket of logs for your guests?!! to buy a small bag at shop was nearly £10 but short drive to garage up the road and small bag for £4.99 ! thought this was mean especially after paying what we did for a weeks stay !

Lovely location great accommodation a really good place to relax.. if you have a dog though just be aware of ticks!
Jean from Leeds (26 June 2017)

Lovely setting, we really enjoyed our week here.
Paul from Leeds (23 June 2017)

Lovely lodge, lovely surroundings, lovely clean hot tub that was checked (water sample) daily ans is emptied and re filled with clean water after the end of each families holiday. I would go again . could not fault the maintanance side of things - when we reported that certain items were broken such as dishwasher etc.. it was fixed almost immediately. the bar / cafe was in our personal view was a tad expensive.
Catherine (23 June 2017)

Really enjoyed it but, how much we paid was different. The wifi not working and my name didn't appear at top of the telly ? which was unusual. We kept thinking we'd gone to wrong cabin. But overall really enjoyed it.
Emma from Penrith (12 June 2017)

This is a lovely location and great accommodation. But as a group of girls we were apparently too noisy and got told numerous times to be quiet. There also was a couple party in a lodge next to us who were equally as noisy. If it is going to be a quiet holiday location then it needs to be clearly stated before you book.
Hannah from Hull (12 June 2017)

No wi available to purchase for the whole 4 days - required for 2 teenagers! golden oak lodge was older, smaller and more dated than similar lodges at sherwood pines. Food at restaurant was basic and portions small. Pickering is a good location for the coast, eden camp and flamingo land. Enjoyed our holiday but didn't feel it was as good value as previous forest holidays
Linda from Oldham (02 June 2017)

Brilliant time. Nice area, spacious clean and modern cabin. Jacuzzi was mega!
Liam from Wakefield (29 May 2017)

Cabins are really good and location excellant but the price of a cabin for week end is creeping up each year and is now quite extortionate for 2 people for a cabin your can't get into till 4 and have to leave at 10am
Jeffrey from Sunderland (29 May 2017)

Can't fault the staff they always went the extra mile for us very friendly and extremely helpful. Location lovely. Disturbed by very noisy neighbors over several nights.
Maria (26 May 2017)

Excellent! we will be back!
Joanna from Lincoln (22 May 2017)

This was the 5th cabin we'd booked at keldy in less than 19 months. The children love it here, we love it here, will definitely be back again!
Emma from Sunderland (22 May 2017)

We stayed monday to friday the accomadation was spot on in every way the hot tub was very relaxing you are very close to the coast plenty of walks all in all it was a very relaxing break.well worth the money
Robert from Huddersfield (19 May 2017)

Construction work was going on next to our lodge for the whole week and we wasn't made aware of it beforehand otherwise we would of requested to move to a quieter area of the resort. When we made the reception aware of our upset and how the noise had been waking up our baby from 8am to 4 pm they said they would deal with the problem but never did and we didn't receive a apology for the inconvenience or examination. The facilities were lovely but I wouldn't visit the site again due to the customer services plus I don't pay to go on holiday to listen to a digger and dumper trunk. Not up to standard
Neil from Wigan (19 May 2017)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at keldy. The staff are so helpful, the lodge was beautiful in an amazing forest and we loved being there. We will definitely visit again.
Alison from Stockton On Tees (15 May 2017)

Absolutely brilliant family holiday would definitely go back again had an amazing time
Katie from Sunderland (01 May 2017)

Due to there being no signal I feel the charge for wifi is too much. This is the only negative thing I can say.
Laura from Wakefield (24 April 2017)

Wonderful relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of yorkshire
Andrew from Wakefield (17 April 2017)

Very nice weekend, only hitch was at cafe, open until 8.0 pm where we were refused service at 7.06 because they had too many meals awaiting delivery to cabins. As we had relied on this we were forced to drive to pickering, 20 mins away to obtain food
Clive from Melton Mowbray (03 April 2017)
