Great getaway over xmas. We arrived with the intention of chilling out in the hot tub, doing lots of cooking and drinking in the lodge and walking around the countryside, which this accommodation was perfect for. Can't comment on the facilities as we didn't use them, but the grounds were kept nice.

This is now our 3rd time back to honicombe manor, each time we have stayed in the same lodge, not intentionally. The lodge internally is very nice, well decorated, well equiped and warm. externally, the lodge and surrounding lodges are now showing their age. squirrels woke us most nights, running around the roof spaces, most holes had been blocked with tennis balls to stop this from happening, but reception was not interested. Reception also kept the door closed on most occasions so you had to get someones attention to unlock the door. we were informed the week before that there would be no restaurant or bar. This also meant that there was no entertainment, and the pool had no life guard. To obtain wifi, you were also expected to hover around the outside of the building in all winds and weather. The new games room was an improvement however, my daughter won a mouldy teddy. Overall, this is a resort in decline and we all said that we would not return.

Lovely location
Bethany from Preston (18 October 2014)

The site in general was unkept and not pleasing to the eye upon arrival. Everything looked like it could do with a good jetwash and a good tidy up. Location was not too good but we knew that before booking so didnt bother us that much as we planned to travel out each day. No wifi on site except in the bar which in this day and age is poor especially when the phone siganals in the area are not very good.

The location was extremely hilly! the slopes out of our lodge would not have been suitable for my dad. There was a bar restaurant on site, prices not too bad and the food was of a good quality. There was an outdoor pool with a sign on everyday stating open 0800-1700 which was never opened although the weather was fine? except for another pub and the donkey sanctuary about 20 minutes walk away there wasn't anything else local which we could walk to so it was out in the car, approx 1/2 hour to looe beach or trethorne leisure park (highly recommended for adults who want to feel 10 again) and was great fun for whole family. The lodge itself came equipped with a hot tub which was great although the main bedroom did smell of damp, possibly because this was the access route to the hot tub? the lodge was clean and well equipped but without wifi access which was stated to be there? not a big thing but worth a mention as when you are not familiar with the area it was hard to find how far places were away from us and what there was to do, lesson learnt plan before you go!
Chris from Leigh (20 September 2014)

Totally remote area. Not what we expected. House smelt of damp. No one on site after 6pm.
Indy from Southampton (06 September 2014)

Didn't deal with staff other than checking in at the bar on arrival. Didn't use facilities, only our lodge.
Stacy (06 September 2014)

I went with partner and 3 children, 11, 8 and 6 for 2 weeks followed by grandparents down for a week. the lodge was lovely and we enjoyed the facilities in the park. chris, who manages the pools and fitness facilities was brilliant, very friendly and made us feel welcome. the children loved the park so did my partner and myself and the grandparents. it is very relaxing.
Helen from Purley, Surrey (30 August 2014)

The holiday was lovely but unfortunately when we had some laundry done they mixed up our washing with someone else and so we ended up losing a pair of jeans which they couldn't find. It is still un resolved as they said they would either send them if they find them or call us back. We have had neither.
Kathleen from Gosport (30 August 2014)

Location is beautiful and quiet. facilities (eg swimming pools) could do with updating.
Sara from London (30 August 2014)

We had a lovely week at honicombe the accomodation was great and the girls loved the swimming pools. The facilities could do with some updating and the food at the bar was very over priced and not very good quality.
Elizabeth (23 August 2014)

The park was beautiful with tree's & streams. It was a quiet site..perfect as I didnt want it too 'busy'. the only reason we would not return is simply the location is a bit further from other attractions & interesting places than we would have liked really.
Amanda from Lincoln (23 August 2014)

Fantastic quite resort, our children loved it. Will definitely recommend to others.

Would not be visiting again . dirty, damp, broken that's my holiday expireance for what it cost no value for money i've stayed in better caravans very disappointed you look foreword to your holiday all year and it turns out to be a stressful time not what holidays are about at all
Michael from Essex (22 August 2014)

Excellent lodge and helpful and friendly staff.
Sharon from Wells (22 August 2014)

Would have put more for helpfulness of staff but 2 out of 3 receptionists we spoke to about problems with the accommodation failed to follow up our issues. No water at all on some days, couldn't have a shower or flush the toilet. Bad damp in one bedroom. Frying pan broken, knife broken, no dvd player when stated there was. Tv only worked occasionally. Not enough bedding. Had washing done took 3 days before we got it back instead of 24hrs, although young lady at reception was very helpful on the 3rd day and had washing bought to our bungalow. Apparently the receptionist before hand had not handed our washing over for cleaning until a day after we had handed it in. Coffee vending machine had no coffee and just supplied hot milk and water, no where else on site to get coffee before lunchtime.

We enjoyed our holiday very much. I would have preferred a launderette to do my own washing. There is a washing service but I would have liked the option to do my own

We had a fabulous time at honicombe. Stayed for 7 nights and couldn't fault the place. Nice friendly staff. The outdoor pool is brilliant, as is the indoor pool. Our accommodation was exactly what we wanted too.

Great place and very quiet and peacful. the apartments are nice and big and very well equipped. lovely outdoor pool, nice and warm for the kids, the indoor pool on the other hand is nice but looks very tired and dated inside. the changing rooms are tiny and the showers are useless. the bar and food are resonable in price but slow service, need more staff.
Customer 42 from Ringwood (01 August 2014)

I was extremely disappointed. After emailing the sight before arriving asking about evening entertainment during our stay and informed that there would be, I was disappointed to discover that there was none at all. I also asked if food was served at lunch time, I was told there was, but this was not the case at all. Our party was a party of 10. 4 adults and 6 children. The staff wasn't very informative of places near by to go, we didn't find out until our leaving that plymouth was 40minutes away. The bar ran out of lager and cider on one of the evenings and there was only one staff working the bar, taking orders and serving. I wont be suggesting to anyone else to go.
Emma from Clitheroe (01 August 2014)

No shop on site.

Bar and reception staff were all nice, helpful people that tried to do all they could for their customers - unfortunately there were not enough of them and they seemed to lack any support from site management. Facilities on the site are limited - basic indoor and outdoor pools and dated games room all closed by 7pm, a tennis / football court which is as well maintained as the one on your local park. Accommodation was spacious and well furnished. . if you want a holiday in a pleasant, peaceful location then consider honicombe manor, but be prepared to provide the entertainment for any children that you take with you.

Location was perfect. An on site shop would have been good or fast food take away. Restaurant had one person taking orders, serving and clearing dishes for 3 hours. For this reason we only used restaurant once. Lodge was very nice apart from very uncomfortable beds. In need of new mattresses asap. Given the negatives I would still consider returning to honicombe.

We stayed in nr. 35. Very nice, very clean. Missing a proper garden set on the balcony. The garden set available was only suitable for sitting about 5 minutes. Only find that bottom floor is humid. And the smell of the fragrance sticks in the living was way to strong !

We had a lovely holiday at honicombe holiday park. The only thing that we liked less was te closing time of the pool. They closed at seven pm and this was the moment, after our days out, that we had the time to go swimming.

The whole site was very tired, did not look as though it had received any maintenance for years.the hot-tub was very old and did not work very well, the unit [dartmore lodge no-3] needs a lot of work to bring it up to scratch, floor boards creaking and very noisy, carpet dirty and loose at door joints, sink tap loose, very little water from hot tap, microwave turntable did not work.kitchen floor was sticky and had to be cleaned. All in all not very pleased and not good value [wish we had gone abroad-it would have been cheaper!]. I would recommend no one to book a holiday at this site until it is completely updated.

Overall a good place to stay. Can't fault the staff and facilities that we used (swimming pool, and the bar a couple of times for a drink). all staff were helpful and friendly. The grocery van was very handy. Great location with plenty of attractions in the surrounding area. Good value for money considering we went at half term. Only downside was that the accommodation needed a bit of care and attention, and a couple more pieces of bedroom furniture.
Tim from Windsor (31 May 2014)

Angela from Tamworth (31 May 2014)

The bar and restaurant weren't open when we arrived and we were told were closed on the saturday evening. also they didn't appear to be open during the day times during our stay. . the outdoor pool was very small, so we didn't use. the indoor pool was fine however. very limited facilities and not a lot in the immediate area. we were hoping for local cycle routes as this was stated on the website that we could ask at reception for cycle routes from the doorstep, but when we asked we were told there werent really any from the park so we had to travel in the car to get close to any cycle routes.

Natalie from Newton Abbot (31 May 2014)

The site did have a tired look, places needed painting and smartening up.
Robert from Southampton (31 May 2014)

This is a lovely place for a short break with all you need to make it enjoyable.
Angela from Tamworth (31 May 2014)

This is our third visit to this parc. each time the accommodation has been really good, the staff have been really helpful (particularly this time when I had to borrow and return immediately the spare key to get in as the rest of our party hadn't arrived back), and the children enjoyed the swimming pool.

Stephen from Bolton (26 April 2014)

I had a fabulous time here with the children. A beautiful secure site. Quiet and relaxing, stunning location and accommodation. loved it!

Location great for getting about
David from Bristol (21 February 2014)

Fab resort, was worried after seeing reviews on tripadvisor. So pleasantly surprised, only grumble was cold pool and games room/tennis courts could do with a bit of update as both nets broken but would well recommend

Well organised
Katrina (11 November 2013)

Fantastic holiday destination, brilliant base for exploring cornwall. We will be booking again soon!
David from Guisborough (02 November 2013)

Reception staff brilliant friendly and helpful rest mediocre lodge was clean and everything was there few problems with heating and shower and one radiator was still not working when we left a day early bar and food were a disaster. On the sunday having been told they did sunday lunch between 12 and 8 at 6 they had run out and no food was available not even the normal bar menu iwas amazed to hear the barman suggesting they go out to a pub down the road this on the night of the supposed big storm suffice to say didn't go in bar again this place is along way from anywhere and the sites is very steep and a bit huddled together the outside. Pool is tiny . highlight of the stay the ladies on reception full of smiles and very helpful . not for elderly or disabled. Would I stay there again? no in a word
Ian from Swansea (02 November 2013)

Despite having out accommodation changed at the last minute it was a good holiday.
Jacqui from Istead Rise (02 November 2013)

Location great for getting around cornwall.
Peter from Burton Latimer (01 November 2013)

Enjoyed the holiday overall was a good break - accomadation was excellent - staff were very helpfull . swimming pool was ok but could have a few slides for kids.
Tim from Chippenham (01 November 2013)

Excellent lodge, very spacious and ample room for 8 of us. The hot tub was a fantastic addition and much need after exploring the local area every day. The location is quite remote but beautiful and tranquil with great access further into cornwall or across the border in devon. We only used the restaurant once, service was slow and food cold. Megan to her credit did arrange a second bottle of wine for the inconveniance but we did not return. Entertainment was ok we particularly enjoyed the live band which were fantastic. Indoor pool is warm and clean and games room enjoyed by the kids. Overall a great break in a fantastic part of cornwall. If you get the chance go visit lydford gorge 10mins up the road and the rifle volunteer pub round the corner is superb!
Mathew from Southampton (01 November 2013)

All a little dated, the pool area is in need of a paint and the old carpet has a damp smell. . the gym area is small but well equipped.
Ryan (25 October 2013)

Shabby, facilities not open until they are ment to be, no battery in smoke alarm, cooker dials rubbed off so don't know how to use it, dangerous path with no lighting to the lodge. Need I say more. Disappointment as this was a gift for my mum's 50th. .
Gemma from Bridgwater (07 October 2013)

The lodge itself was lovely and well equipped, the hot tub turned out to be our main entertainmen. The site was suppose to be dog friendly but only place he could be on site was in the lodge we wouldn't of taken him if we had know n we paid for him. So we couldn't eat on site and hadn't bought provisions and there was no shop on site or locally without driving to town. There was a local pub which took dogs but walking back was scary down lanes as it was pitch black obviously in summer months it would be ok. I think with a few extra facilities it would be a cracking relaxing site I wouldn't like to take kids there.
Heather (30 September 2013)

We stayed for a weekend last year and based on feedback that they were doing a lot of updating over the winter, decided to come back for a week this year. We were very disappointed. The bed was so hard we couldn't sleep and came home feeling exhausted. The staff were not very helpful, we went for dinner at 7.30pm and got the distinct impression that they did not want us there. When we complained that the bed was hard, we were just told that they couldn't do anything about it (no apology). it's a shame because it could be a nice place!
Ellen from Bath (14 September 2013)

Loved our stay at the resort. Lots of things there for children and adults. Felt a little out of place as a wedding took place there over the weekend and felt pushed out of the general bar area. Would be good to have a split on those accasions
Stacey (02 September 2013)

It was ok the drinks in bar were flat, there was no entertainment that was of any sorts. People did not keep dogs on there leads, the one was system was not properly marked. The accommodation was ok
Warren from Worcester (31 August 2013)

This was a late booking for the family and we were a bit concerned about some of the comments we had seen about this site. Ok there is still work to be done but we were really pleasantly surprised. The house was actually very good and had been fully decorated recently it was warm and clean, well equipped with a good level of furnishing. The grounds could have done with a bit of a tidy but with cornish rain that not surprising. The tennis courts and main swimming pool were fine the smaller one needs a bit of cosmetic work again all were clean. We found the staff very friendly and the food in the bar good value. Actually from our experience I would recommend this site if they carry on with the progress in updating it, it will be one of the better places to stay
Mike from Bury St Edmunds (30 August 2013)

The facilities were rubbish, no shop! understaffed! no lights at night! bins weren't emptied the whole week we were there so there were wasps everywhere, reception closed every time we had a question. Outdoor pool closed on one of the hottest weeks of the year!
Andrew from Bristol (26 August 2013)

Much improved with further development to the site ongoing. There was an excellent charity music event with local bands when we were there. Good stuff.
Gary from Northampton (26 August 2013)

A site in dire need of upgrading. they have spent money installing new kitchens and flooring, but the rooms all need renovating, or repainting at least. the wooden floors were not even laid properly and left raised edges which were a trip hazard. the house felt permanently damp. the jacuzzi in the main pool was out of order, there was black mould in the sauna, the outdoor pool looked like a building site.
Lawrence from Grantham (24 August 2013)

We did not have a very good experience in the restaurant on the first night of our holiday we ordered food and had to wait almost 2 hrs for it the restaurant was not busy and there was no one else eating at the time we enquired a few times but were told that it was on its way which it wasnt we were told that the manager would be informed about the situation but no one got back to us so we did not eat in the restaurant for the rest of the week
Kay from Chepstow (24 August 2013)

Very good holiday homes. Plenty of room and clean. No shop on site but not more than 5 to 10 minutes away for supplies. Pool very good and food at manor good, but experenced things on the menu running out when you ordered.
Brenda from Stoke-On-Trent (24 August 2013)

Bar staff were excellent, but holiday staff were rude toward us as we were a young group
Luke from Caldicot (23 August 2013)

Excellent accommodation. some areas looked tired but understand this is being addressed and did not really detract from the stay. Staff responded quickly and cheerfully to the only problem that we had.
Andrew from Poole (23 August 2013)

The whole park needed an upgrade. More entertainment needed in the evenings. More staff so both pools could be opened at the same time.
Marilyn (19 August 2013)

Accomadation very basic, not much to do. Park run down
Confirmed Holidaymaker (17 August 2013)

Very comfortable accommodation
Kathleen from Liverpool (17 August 2013)

We had a nice holiday, the site needs some updating but it didn't spoil the holiday. The inside pool and sauna were lovely.
Susan from Durham (17 August 2013)

I do feel consideration should be given to the lodges with hot tubs and where they are placed. it can be very noisy for the neighbours who don't have hot tubs as a lot of the lodges have ground floor bedrooms, therefore the hot tubs are outside their neighbours bedrooms.
Diane (17 August 2013)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in august 2013. I would have given higher overall scores but as there is ongoing renovation there was obviously parts of the resort that weren't up to standard but this in no way detracted from our enjoyment of our stay. A lovely place !
Lynne from Tamworth (10 August 2013)

Our accomodation had been refurbished but the site needs a little attention, staff very friendly as hlepful
Helen from Bingley (10 August 2013)

Outdated and sadly in need of refurbishment in some areas. It rained a lot and there was very little to do on site.
Suzanne from Castleford (03 August 2013)

Very relaxing place. Great hot tub
Mark (19 July 2013)

Cottage in good condition, pool lovely.
Janine from Bingley (29 June 2013)

When we came the pool was closed and we were not informed . the resort was nothing how it explained . the rooms were basic and needed to be updated with a bit if paint . over priced and would never return again over charged .
Katie from Surrey (10 June 2013)

Park could do with some general tidying up like bins empty more regular.accomadation (st cleer vip) could do with better fixtures ie curtains, sofas, lamps, tableware etc to give more luxury feel.great get away for couples or families.
Kevin (01 June 2013)

The typical british weather didn't help however that all said and done lovely place to stay even if it is a little remote. You definately benefit from having a car but there is a bus service to get you around the local area. We stayed off peak so there wasn't much going on but we were given the impression that was not always the case. The surrounding were beautiful and if you are going there to relax then this a good place to do so.
Corrie from London (18 May 2013)

The swimming pool facilities did not do the complex any favours and the changing rooms were a little on the small side.
Lisa from Wiltshire (06 May 2013)

V ery nice and pleasant.
Mark from Addlestone (13 April 2013)

We were concerned when we read previous reviews, but we had a great time. the accommodation was spotless, the hot tub was great and the staff were more than helpful. we even stayed an additional night!
Jane from Wiltshire (05 April 2013)

Hot tub was great, swimming pool good also, but we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves most days as the park was very quiet when we stayed
Emma from Ledbury (20 February 2013)

Our stay at roselands was really good, the staff were very helpful as the beginning of our holiday didn't go well, our car broke down and our youngest son spent a day in hospital, all this before we even left home. They kept our booking and allowed us to cheak in 3 days late and allowed us to extend our holiday to the sunday. the lodge was very spacious, central heating was an added bonus and we mangaged to have use of the hot tub, which is a must for any stay. Facilities minimal, but as holiday home used mainly as a base they suited our requirements.
Georgina from Bristol (03 November 2012)

Bungalow was clean & well equipped
Lisa from Cheshire (27 October 2012)

Quiet
Andrew from Stroud (27 October 2012)

Staff were quite friendly and helpful. . . otherwise, it has the sense of a rather pleasant open prison. Not exactly where you want to be, but could be a lot worse.
Andy from London (25 October 2012)

The lodge was fantastic and the area ideallic.
Janet from Hemel Hempstead (22 October 2012)

G ood for winter breaks nice accomadation nice and warm . well equiped
Sidney from Otford Sevenoaks Kent (06 October 2012)

Spacious accommodation and well kept hot tub. Food good in bar though limited choice.
Jackie from Canterbury (29 September 2012)

Lovely accommodation
Sue from Bournemouth (29 September 2012)

Nice area to visit.
Jon from Irthlingborough (29 September 2012)

None
Jeannette from Gloucester (29 September 2012)

We booked for location so we could visit family who all live in the area. location is good for site seeing cornwall and devon if you hava a car.
Helen (29 September 2012)

We found the lodge very comfy, the only problem we had that my husband was still recovering from an illness and that the lodge was high on the hill so this was awkward when unloading and loading the car, otherwise its was great value for money. .
Anne from East Yorkhire (22 September 2012)

There was none
Donald from Monithieth (22 September 2012)
