Wonderful base for a seaside holiday. Nice clean caravan, surprisingly peaceful. Kids enjoyed crab-lining in the harbour and the lovely walks to the beach (we called it our secret beach as some evenings we were the only ones on it) where many hours were spent searching for sea glass. Plus, poke stops along the way so the kids couldn't have been happier! needless to say, we were all very sorry to leave.
Paula from Redhill (02 September 2016)

Need somewhere you can eat a meal and take the dog with you. Local pubs very accommodating, why not rye harbour. We did not use any of the facilities as dogs not allowed in any. Area and surroundings ideal for dog walking. Staff friendly and obliging.
Annette from Sheppey (23 October 2015)

Very friendly, hrlpfull staff, nice caravan
Rob from Berkel-Enschot The Netherlands. (19 October 2015)

Thoroughly enjoyed it
Lucia from Beverley (10 October 2015)

We loved our holiday. staff were great and we felt supported and welcome. . . one minor issue: . covering on settee area in lounge section was quite scratchy and itchy. . main issue: . when we arrived the mattress on the double bed was dirty and we had to turn it over and there were lots of crumbs on the mattress. the linen provided could have been cleaner and had hairs on it. . . otherwise the caravan was clean and tidy with all equipment provided.
Margaret from Barking (25 September 2015)

Loved it even if it did rain that week, very nice walking area and quiet I will be making another booking for next year, just my cuppa tea and can have my dog on holiday with me.
Ann from Eastbourne (19 September 2015)

This caravan site is situated in the most beautiful location, and is ideal for a relaxing holiday with the family or partner.. for dog lovers there are miles of dog friendly beaches. The caravan was clean and comfortable, the site was clean as were the facilities. The less positive parts: caravans close together (but a very quiet park still, even at night), the shop was way too small and poorly stocked (thankfully I took food with me) the pool was tiny and only allowed 12 people in at a time and slots were booked at 9am! . . all that said.. I would go back.
Andrea from Woking (14 August 2015)

No hot water in the morning between 7 and 11, water pressure too low. What
Allison from Southampton (14 August 2015)

Couldn't get a slot to go into swimming pool at all as it is too small. Staff were not very helpful . there wasn't much to do at the park. The arcade was very small. Couldn't get a shower in the morning as the water supply couldn't cope with everyone showering at same time. Food in the café was not very good and staff were pretty clueless.
Sarah from Crawley (10 August 2015)

Lovely park ideal for children and relaxing for parents will go back again
Sydney from Ipswich (10 August 2015)

Great location. We loved the nature reserve, and enjoyed crabbing at the harbour. There is a great beach at camber sands, which is only a short drive away. The staff, especially jack in reception were really helpful & friendly. The negatives, for a small "relax & explore" site, we found that the caravans were very close together, and the site was also quite noisy when the club shut. We were woken a few times by loud people outside our caravan late at night. the swimming pool is very small for the amount of caravans on site, so a band system is in place, but it operates on a first come, first served service, so you need to get up early to ensure you get a slot. The play area is quite hard for smaller children, and would definitely benefit from some modifications, as it is almost impossible to get up to the slide without an adults help. All this being said, we would come again, just for the location.
Elaine from Gloucestershire (08 August 2015)

The clubhouse restaurant food was below standard. the curry was served all dried up, the prawn cocktail sauce looked awful and my husband tried my daughters prawns and advised her not to eat them. when the plates were collected we mentioned this to the waitress who returned after speaking to the chef to say that the prawns were opened today from a large bag. probably what a customer doesn't want to hear. no apology for not being able to eat two out of our five meals. that was our first impression of the clubhouse. we did not return to eat there. no bread available from the shop during our four day stay. very low stocked shelves.
Lorraine from Orpington (07 August 2015)

We took granny and teenage daughter plus 2 poodles. we found the proximity to the nature reserve was this park's greatest asset. highlight of the holiday was watching the badgers pottering around in the late evening - priceless. This park is very well situated with plenty of interesting places nearby for days out and the buildings in older part of rye are quite stunning.
Louise from Shrewsbury (31 July 2015)

We were expecting it to be basic, but thought it was misrepresented. The caravan we were in had torn upholstery, was unclean and the shower barely trickled!
Lisa from Oxford (31 July 2015)

Lovely setting, unfortunately the caravans are to close together and no outside seating also parking gets very busy and you have a job to get parked near to your caravan.
Marian from Carmarthenshire (20 July 2015)

Limited parking, none beside caravan. Entertainment reminded of hi de hi (70's). caravan awful dirty, stank of smoke, dirty, cigarette butts littered outside door and window. Site was beside parks warden. Door defective. Microwave defective. On plus side staff helpful and pool small but nice and well managed
Alistair from Dromara County Down (20 July 2015)

Enjoyed our short break but expected a little more activity on site. Currently building work taking place which I felt should have been mentioned at booking
Christine from Portsmouth (13 July 2015)

Brilliant location, caravan basic but excellent value for money. We had a superb weekend break.
Paul from Cirencester (13 July 2015)

Very clean spotless caravan, and all the bedding was super white , very pleased with the accommodation and would quite happily stay there again . lyn
Lyn from Swadlincote (11 July 2015)

Lovely setting, friendly and helpful staff. Parking was a pain - . if you left the site for the day in your car, the chances were that you could not park near the caravan on return home. . alternatively if you left the car parked and walked in the immediate locality(which is lovely!) someone would park across the front of the car trapping you in and preventing you from taking the car out at a later time. . good value for money. (because we had a special deal)
Yvonne from Billingshurst, West Sussex (10 July 2015)

The caravan was old and tired and the site set out in rows, vans packed together, no feeling of space. seems the owners just wanted to pack as many vans in as possible with no thought of producing a nice ambience.
Steve from North Yorkshire (06 July 2015)

The caravan was very small. The cleanliness was not great. The parking was too far away and difficult when unpacking and packing.
Pauline (06 July 2015)

We enjoyed our stay at rye harbour but for a couple of complaints I asked for a caravan near to all ammenities because my daughter was disabled and we were place as far away as possible also your barstaff could have been more experianced with their bar knowledge we ordered one night 2 meals and got 5
Derek from Leigh Lancashire (04 July 2015)

Rye harbour is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. Unfortunately for us there was some building going on and we where right next to it. The nature reserve and peaceful surroundings made up for the noise I woke up to in the morning. I would stay again
Confirmed Holidaymaker (03 July 2015)

The site was good, quiet and everyone was helpful. The parking was difficult at times. I booked a haven gold 3 bedroom home when we arrived they did not have one booked for us, they had a gold 2 bedroomed one allocated to us, we had travelled 6 hours and were exhausted the staff were very helpful and phoned hoeseasons but could not offer us what we had booked, our choice was take that one, try another site or go home, not a good. Choice. My son had the double bedroom, I had a twin one with the mattress's pushed together to make a double, fine you might say but the mattress's were different heights and. Kept moving, our suitcases had to sit on the sofas in the living area, owing to medical problems with my back. We will go back to the site, but will book direct with them next time, so that we get what we pay for.
Barbara from Didcot (29 June 2015)

Caravan was very dilapidated, no net curtains at the windows, table had rip across the top, 1 stool torn, freezer and fridge grubby, loo didn't flush properly, duvets were stained and worn. if we had been staying for more than 3 nights we would have complained. we did complain about the loo but it still didn't flush well. Club house didn't have any proper beer, just lagers and bottles. We understand we had a dog so possibly we were not going to be given a new van but as we were charged extra for the dog thought it was a nerve to do that and give us such a horrible van. There was a notice on the reception desk when we checked in saying site was full so in effect you couldn't change vans. Reception staff on arrival were friendly and they had taken notice of our comments about having mobility issues. Reception floor was uneven and not helpful to a person with walking sticks
Sharon from Poole (29 June 2015)

Ok, nice to be near nature reserve but unforunately building work about to start by our caravan made site look scruffy. Site must have been quiet that week, club only had half a dozen customers,no atmosphere so we went to pub along the road. (not the one on the harbour-it's dire!)
Mary from Braintree (19 June 2015)

Excellent site club house serving good food and wine and good entertainment,, with very helpful, friendly, staff. In a beautiful location. What more could any one wish for. Will return soon.

Disappointed with the caravan.we paid for a silver 2 caravan but have previously stayed in a bronze which was much better.there was a problem with the toilet, one of the lights was not working and although these problems were dealt with the next day we felt that these things should have been checked before hand.however the staff were very helpful.

Disappointed with the shop on site. location good, loved taking dog round the nature reserve. the caravan was also good. however, rye itself was a big disappointment. hardly anywhere open in the evening to get something to eat.
John from Bury St Edmunds (12 June 2015)

Loved it and this was a second vist we will definitely be back next year.

We did not use the facilities so are unable to comment on them. The swimming pool looked quite small and the shop limited in produce but we found the staff very helpful and friendly.the site was well maintained with any litter etc being removed early morning. The nature reserve behind the site (a haven for bird watchers) led to the beach which was a bonus.

This is not a relax & explore camp site which I expected! there is a club/ bar here which means you'll be woken gone 1am with people being drunk, loud & very inconsiderate! this happened twice on my stay here. . this site is crammed with caravans which overlook each other and the parking for some cars is entirely unacceptable!. . . I definitely do not recommend rye harbour!

Jane from Atherton (22 May 2015)

We weren't in the basic caravan we were in a silver so I guess it could of been worse but I don't see how bathroom leaked into the bedroom from the shower the upholstery in the lounge was ripped and not clean no toilet roll holder and it was very cramped against modern day mobile homes even though there was only three of us in a six berth

Brilliant location, right on top of the nature reserve and a few minutes drive into rye town. I wasn't over keen on the actual caravan site lay out. The vans are all next to each other with no parking. Parking is on the road side of a very narrown road with awkward spaces, no allocation - it gave the park an odd claustrophic feel. We went as a group and all felt like it felt over crowded. We had a nice enough stay but wouldn't stay again.
Vanessa from Benfleet (10 April 2015)

We had a great week and enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. Great place for families. We are bingo fans and found that having the bingo in the main bar area was very noisy and it was hard to hear what was going on. The staff calling the numbers seemed to rush as fast as they could to get game over as quick as possible. For the price, only playing for 20 minutes was a not really worth it.

We were pleasantly surprised when we got there. The caravan park is in the middle of a nature reserve so it is very quiet and you have the added bonus of being able to walk through the reserve. The accommodation was very good and up to a high standard. My one comment was that there was little or no lighting amongst the caravans at night so could be a bit dark coming back. Other than that the food and entertainment were very good considering that we stayed at the beginning of the season.

On the hand the caravan was fairly worn and featured all the garish 1990's fashion hallmarks, but lets face it who cares about that stuff on holdiay - it was clean, warm and comfy and was very good value.

There seemed to be many dogs around. I would not knowingly accept accommodation previously housing dogs. My caravan showed no signs of dog accommodation.
David from Ringwood (13 September 2014)

I had a lovely restful few days with my adult daughter. Walking and enjoying the surrounding area.
Ruth from Romney Marsh (12 September 2014)

Caravan looked & felt grubby, upholstery in living room was very grubby, had to wash cutlery cups & plates before use, had to change frying pan because it was so badly burnt & rusty, we knew it was a basic van, just expected it to be cleaner. Also residents sometimes take up 3 parking spaces if they have family visiting, rye harbour is a nice site, great for walks.
Claudia from Leeds (06 September 2014)

Rye harbour was a fairly quiet and friendly site. We found the silver 2 a little cramped for 4 of us and there was nowhere at all to hang wet towels etc. (would have liked a clothes horse at least!). the water pressure went on the site on our first day but this problem was resolved. We also had to wait over an hour for food at the restaurant on the saturday (very busy) night. Bingo seems to go on for an eternity - can we please have some different entertainment?!! also, please note that the pool is very small. We enjoyed the area, however, and the walk from the site to the sea through the salt marsh is great.
Mark from London (30 August 2014)

Very old caravan with single glazing and no central heating. the boiler was also very dated, if they didn't have working alarms we wouldn't of stayed in it at all. very disappointing experience.
Sue from Manchester (29 August 2014)

The shower was freezing in the morning.too many caravans crammed on a small site. Could not use swimming pool due to band timing system cos pool too small for the site so had to travel 3 miles to use the public pool.
Glen (25 August 2014)

The park is ok althought swimming pool was too small to swim in. We wasted £20 after paying for wifi, the signal was so weak, it was a waste of money. Also shower was rubbish, hot and cold and that's when u could get water to come out. We ended up strip washing!
Tracy from Broadstairs (25 August 2014)

We had a great holiday, though the fridge was pretty dirty when we arrived - freezer had food in and there were hairs all over the trays. . other wise location is stunning with beautiful walks near by and a stones throw from rye.
Lee (22 August 2014)

Lovely week away, great surrounding walks.
Lynch from Swanley (22 August 2014)

Nice location, great staff, poor quality accommodation
Barry from Shoreham (01 August 2014)

Holiday ok but we left early because the caravan was just too hot to seat in especially with a toddler.
Lisa (25 July 2014)

Caravan did smell of dog and dog hair on seats.shop on site was small didn't have things you need milk bread half the time.club house was good for kids, it was good for the money it cost, rye town was nice old pubs and shops to look at.
John from Essex (25 July 2014)

I paid for a silver caravan it was really tired and dirty. I usually have a bronze and they have always been beautiful. Very disappointed came home a day early.
Graham from Crawley (21 July 2014)

A lovely area for a week to relax although not ideal if you want the additional night life etc
Liz from Haverhill (12 July 2014)

We had a lovely break but the caravan was very basic with some fixtures falling off (eg window catches) and they were very close to each other so not a lot of outside space to relax or kids to play by the van. Also quite a lot of noise while we stayed as other caravans were being moved around very close by which interrupted our baby sleeping.
Penny from Southampton (07 July 2014)

A lovely holiday with some great weather. A very nice site.
Gary from Newmarket (14 June 2014)

We enjoyed our time at rye. Would of been nice to park car next to van but otherwise everything else was good.
Mark from Slough (14 June 2014)

All staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restuarant was good and reasonably priced. we ate in four nights and never had a bad meal. the location was better than we had hoped for.
Susan from Dorking (20 September 2013)

Ideal forvthe holiday we planned visiting various towns along the coast. The caravan was cosy and we were able to park very close to it.
Eileen (20 September 2013)

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Park was quiet with plenty of walks by nature reserve and beach not far from rye town
Julie from Slough (13 September 2013)

Adrian from Huddersfield (30 August 2013)

Location is brilliant, no car needed once you are there. Push bikes really open this place up.
Joanne (30 August 2013)

Quiet. And the nature reserve, just have to walk out of site into peace and quiet no through road and lovely walk to an almost deserted beach. Staff helpful and generally a happy feel to the site. Owners and holiday makers very friendly
Pauline from Steyning (30 August 2013)

Brian from Rochester (26 August 2013)

Lovely couple running reception & pool and steve of course. The frenchman's bronze caravan was very clean and had everything we needed. The site was well maintained and the bar food good. The entertainment was cheerful although not our thing. My 9 year old daughter had an amazing time making new friends at the park and amusement arcade area. Walk to harbour lovely on a sunny day - would find it very bleak in winter though. Rye lovely village and close to battle and hastings which were stunning. Will go again as soon as we can!!! thank you to the lovely staff.
Brenda from Bedfordshire (24 August 2013)

Marcin from Malvern (23 August 2013)

Quiet place , helpful staff , clean and tidy
David from Grays (23 August 2013)

Really nice caravan park with great surroundings, nice clean vans, friendly staff , and rye is a really great place.
Robert from Slough (23 August 2013)

The swimming pool was mangaged very well, and the 2 members of staff at the pool were great, and very helpful.
Jenny from Bromley Kent (19 August 2013)

Leaving 3 days early
Janice from Worcestershire (17 August 2013)

Lovely location to enjoy the nature reserve and long walks with the dog, bit remote otherwise but rye itself only a few minutes drive so depends what you want really!
Richard from Carshalton, Surrey (16 August 2013)

Small holiday park which was just what we wanted. Silver caravan was perfect and beds very comfortable. The swimming pool was very small but not an issue as our 12 year old enjoyed it. There is a beautiful walk through a nature reserve which goes down to a pebble beach. Would love to go back as 4 days didn't seem long enough to see this part of england.
Carole from Rotherham (12 August 2013)

Fabulous location, very relaxing.
Wayne from Abingdon (12 August 2013)

Staff were friendly and really excellent. I have never seen maintenance workers sort out problems so quickly and happily.
Kath from Sunderland (12 August 2013)

Nothing to do when you get there, you have to drive 15 - 40 miles to get to anything else worth a visit - see bad points!
Ross from Swansea (05 August 2013)

Only a short walk to one of the most beautiful unspoiled beaches i've ever been to.great little local reasonably priced shop nearby.bus to rye town a 2 minute wallk and only takes 7 minutes.superb clubhouse with free entertainment for the kids.recommended!
Liza from Brighton (05 August 2013)

Nature reserve and harbour amazing
Mandy from Leicester (05 August 2013)

The staff - competent, courteous, helpful, friendly. the receptionist even mended my glasses for me - thank you!. the beautiful nature reserve next door where we were entranced by the aerial acrobatics of the feeding birds. Peaceful location.
Deborah from Birmingham (03 August 2013)

The caravan we stayed in was well equipped, and the location of the caravan was good. . the layout of the caravan was great and worked really well for our family. . lovely area and great nature walks. . it is a nice park, but can be made family friendly by increasing the size of the swimming pool.
Nel from Stevenage (02 August 2013)

Caravan was very clean on arrival
Amanda from Gosport (02 August 2013)

Location was good for us but we only stayed the weekend and didn't use any of the onsite facilities so can't comment on those.
Jayne from Cambridge (29 July 2013)

Caravan was clean, friendly staff.
Doreen from Town (27 July 2013)

Lovely, peaceful surroundings and close to beach
Katharine from New Haw (26 July 2013)

Cleanliness of site and accommodation
Sue from Gillingham (19 July 2013)
