Fabulous break, lovely staff, beautiful surroundings would definitely return!!
Lisa (29 October 2017)

A very quiet location with a very warm welcome from the owners. the owners are very knowledgeable about the area and have arranged some very good deals with local pubs. The lodge was well kept and supplied with everything required for a self catering holiday (bar food, of course). the hot tub was amazing. We were able to have such a relaxing few days. one small problem we did have was sorted almost immediately by the owners. a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend.
Martin from Newquay (27 October 2017)

Lovely week away. Beautiful area. Lodge fully equipped. Hot tub amazing!!!
Rebecca from Kent (27 October 2017)

The covered hot tub was a huge bonus and access would be greatly improved with an outdoor broom to clear the path of leaves (might just be the time of year). facilities good.
Mel (21 October 2017)

We had a lovely stay here, beautiful location. The only thing that let it down was the size of the beds, as it says online king size but they were doubles an the amount of money we spent on electricity, roughly £15 a day which was a nuisance making sure we had enough £1 coins. The hot tub was fabulous and the owners very friendly an welcoming.
Samantha from Littlehampton (20 October 2017)

Very peaceful and idle for walkers
Tony from Shrewsbury (20 October 2017)

Love it. Been twice now, loved it both times. Beautiful lodges in idyllic setting. you want for nothing more
Jimmy from Bristol (20 October 2017)

An excellent short break with friends. Friendly and helpful staff made us feel welcome. The surrounding area is truly brilliant, with great local pubs to enjoy. The lodge and facilities were exceptional. We had private use of pool, sauna and steam room. Would recommend highly and want to book again!
Shaun from Exeter (16 October 2017)

We loved staying at the lodges. It was perfect. The only reason we marked it down one point is having to pay for electric by coin meter. We would of much rather of had it added on to the cost of the holiday. However we will definitely go back
Simon from Yeovil (15 October 2017)

We loved it. This was a romantic escape without the kids. The hot tub was perfect, the walks were lovely and the local pub down the road cooked the best food we’ve had in years. We’re coming back next year.
Shona from Portishead (15 October 2017)

Lovely relaxing holiday, lodge was clean and well equipped. Hot tub a bonus!! the owners were friendly and helpful. Would love to come back.
Caroline from Toddington (11 October 2017)

Excellent break away from everything
Gary from Sedgley (08 October 2017)

Stayed here for two nights arrived late due to traffic was greeted when arrive. Informed hot tub usage until 1030 pm only which seemed pretty early access to hot via front door. Informed of local amenities. had to pay for electric. Great location average stay
Mark (08 October 2017)

Lovely lodge with a hot tub in a quiet location perfect for a chilled weekend.
Michelle from Bristol (02 October 2017)

Really enjoyed it. Wasn't too much around to do but if you're looking for a quiet get a way it's perfect. Our hot tub didn't have a cover/ roof on the decking like the first cabin so when it rained we couldn't really go in it. Also weren't aware we had to pay for electricity after paying so much to stay! but really enjoyed it and would recommend
Chloe (29 September 2017)

We had a fantastic time at exmoor gate lodges. the surrounding area was so peaceful and tranquil you could easily unwind. the owners were very pleasant and welcoming.
Jackie from Didcot (29 September 2017)

Diane and her husband were lovely. and very understanding. the cabin was perfect. plenty of room for 9 of us. the area was absolutely beautiful. the lane was a tight fit for the 9 seater mini bus. so couldn't park by cabin had to park on the car park. which was extremely inconvenient. as their is a very steep road to walk up to our cabin withypool. my disabled mother found this extremely hard. the hill was so steep her mobility scooter couldn't get up. other than this issue. the hidalgo was fantastic. beautiful scenery all around. a car is needed as nothing is close. but we loved it.
Patricia from Staffordshire (25 September 2017)

This is our third visit to exmoor gate. As always gary and diane gave us an extremely warm welcome on arrival and were wonderful hosts all through our stay. As before we stayed in appley cottage a perfect accommodation for a couple of people of any age which we found to be extremely clean and peaceful and perfect for relaxing.we shall be returning many times in the years to come .thanks yet again to our hosts . keep up the good work and would recommend it to anyone.
Lesley from Canterbury Kent (23 September 2017)

Kerry from Staffordshire (23 August 2017)

Had a lovely time it was as described online clean comfortable hot tub was great
Jane from Brighton (20 August 2017)

We enjoyed our stay at exmoor gate lodges. The lodge was comfortable, clean and tidy and the hot tub was fantastic to relax in after a day out exploring the sights of somerset/devon. I would recommend this place if you want to stay somewhere quiet and peaceful in the countryside.

A wonderful place to stay
Tracey from Torrington (18 August 2017)

Nice relaxing holiday loved the hot tub and the owners very helpful
Graham from Exeter (18 August 2017)

Was a relaxing chilling out break, very quite and ideal surroundings. If your are a rambler, 100 % for you, as lots of " circle walks", ranging from 5 - 23 miles.
Gary from Wymondham (14 August 2017)

Don't use sat nav to find way to exmoor gate!
Charles (31 July 2017)

Excellent location. Very clean and comfortable. Will definitely book again.
David from Weston-Super-Mare (30 July 2017)

We had a fantastic 4 night break from the 24th to the 28th of july . the owners were very friendly and helpful. We have two small children and facilities on site were a hit with them with. We made use of the private pool and which was also really good.
David from Coventry (28 July 2017)

Perfection is a bundle
Hugo from Bury St Edmunds (23 July 2017)

A lovely setting for a family break. Plenty of space for a party of 9 in withy lodge. The accomodation is suitable for all ages and abilities with a 4th bedroom and 3rd bathroom on the ground floor.
Claire from Wiltshire (10 July 2017)

Amazing mini break would highly recommend and will definitely be coming again.
Kerasina from Walsall (09 July 2017)

We had a fabulous time at exmoor gate lodges, from the moment we got there we were greeted by the lovely owners who's knowledge of the area to local pubs and restaurants and walks for the dog was a brilliant touch. The facilities of the games room and swimming pool we did not use but had a look and looked great. The lodge itself was beautiful, stunning views, clean and well maintained. The hot tub was great after the long days walking and a good size. Overall I would defiantly recommend exmoor gate and will be coming back!! :-)
Jason from Bungay, Suffolk (03 July 2017)

Fantastic break for the two of us, I have already re booked to take the children.
Sara-Louise (02 July 2017)

Shame about the weather !!!!the lodge & gary & dianewere very helpful, nothing too much trouble & the actual lodge facilities weregreat.hope to visit again in future.thankyou for looking after us.p.s. The eggs were very tasty too.!!!!
Carole from Milton Keynes (30 June 2017)

Very relaxing and secluded area. The lodge was very clean on arrival and met all expectations. Gary and diane made sure we had everything we needed
Teresa (24 June 2017)

Excellent location, helpful owners.
Charlene (16 June 2017)

Noisey young parties in other lodges not good we wanted to relax in hot tub but load music and girls screaming and singing wasn't great
Confirmed Holidaymaker (11 June 2017)

Lodge needs updating, lots of signs posters around lodge 'do not touch' ect. Pound electrical meters inconvenient and old fasioned. Not much on site to do. Overlooked by each lodge. Hot tub lovely. Bedding/blinds/curtains needs replacing dont look clean.
Zoe (09 June 2017)

Was not impressed that you had to pay for electricity when this wasn't a cheap break to start with. Never been to a site where you have to fill up a hot tub or remove water if it's too full. With 5 of us staying it would have been good to have had 2 bathrooms.
Emma from Yeovil (04 June 2017)

Fantastic weekend break!. we stayed in th appley cottage, lovely place , brilliant hot tub.however we felt that the towels we were given where not large enough (2 bath towels should have been supplied as well) and the bed mattress did not do the beautiful cottage justice. . that said..we still thoroughly enjoyed it and had a fantastic break!
Michael (04 June 2017)

Lovely relaxing holiday, will be looking to go back again the kids loved it
Julie (03 June 2017)

Lovely lodge and hot tub, lovely surroundings and initially warm welcome. Although wasn't expecting to pay a returnable deposit incase I broke anything or took something home. Also having a price list in the lodge incase you broke anything made the holiday less restful, as with that and the deposit it made you concern incase you accidently incurred charges.
Julia from Oxford (02 June 2017)

Stunning place with beautiful quiet surroundings, lovely owners, very well looked after lodges, perfect in all ways. . highly recommend for everyone wanting tranquility. . will return.
Tracy from Weston (29 May 2017)

Great place for a getaway, lovely lodge and the hot tub kept us entertained.
Gavin (24 May 2017)

Great place to stay to get away from it all.
Ryan from Brighton (22 May 2017)

We had a really lovely weekend, that was ruined by the attitude of the female owner. Had a slightly erratic phone call whilst out for the day accusing us of breaking the hot tub. The lady ranted and raved on the phone for about 20 minutes, threatening to take our deposit. We rushed back to the lodge to find out from her husband that actually there was nothing wrong with the hot tub at all. Certainly didn't make us feel comfortable staying there as dreaded bumping into the owners for the rest of our stay!
Christina (22 May 2017)

Nice place, but not what we were expecting in regards to the scenery from our hot tub. The hot tub was next to a hedge and very close to the bins and car park, although secluded it didn't feel like the photo's and expectations we had in the build up to our holiday. . limited kitchen utensils, no storage space in the bedroom, we had to live out of our suitcase which wasn't very nice, and signs regarding towels being taken would cost us £12 per towel to me felt insulting.
Deborah (20 May 2017)

Brilliant will be back
Gail from Bournemouth (18 May 2017)

Went here for my 10th year anniversary, me and my husband had a lovely time. The lodge was really nice but the hot tub made the stay amazing
Joe from Brighton (14 May 2017)

Beautiful spot to relax and recharge the batteries. Owners very helpful and lovely lodge. Nice pub nearby local village 2 miles away. Would revisit
Julie from Morden (12 May 2017)

Had the best weekend with 3 friends, hot tub was fab, views were outstanding (especially on the local 2 mile walk), facilities were bang on and hosts were very helpful and so so lovely.
Teresa from Bristol (07 May 2017)

Brilliant lodge in a lovely setting with a fantastic hot tub! would definitely return and recommend it wholeheartedly.
Margaret from East Sussex (05 May 2017)

Fab place, well maintained and in beautiful setings. The house we stayed in was for 5 persons, we were only 3 and found we had plenty of room, even tho we all slept in the same room! . if my daughter (5) was to be sleeping in the single bed (on the landing) I would have been v worried about her falling down the stairs but actually we dragged her mattress into our room as we wanted to all sleep together - there was plenty of space! . the place was spotless and superbly maintained by the family there. the surrounding were fab and we would definitely go back. the swimming pool was small and had to be book for private use but again spotless and warm. we didn't use the games room but if you had slightly older children I can see that would be great. the hot tub on our doorstep was perfect! there was a barbecue stand there that we made use of and the lemon drizzle cake on arrival was very welcoming.
Jayne from Caerleon (01 May 2017)

Holiday was perfect! stayed for a week with my partner. Location is beautiful and so peaceful! lodge had everything you need including the awesome private hot tub which got used a lot! :) . owners were lovely, very friendly and helpful. . local facilities available with shops and nice pubs. . overall we had an amazing stay and I would recommend to anyone.
Simon from Manchester (24 April 2017)

Very good location would use again.
Robert from Birmingham (22 April 2017)

Fantastic holiday
Judith from Birmingham (21 April 2017)

We had a blissfully relaxing break at exmoor gate lodges. Great location for exploring the local area. We all loved the hot tub, which made our stay extra special, and the kids really enjoyed the games room. We didn't use the pool or gym as we were busy out and about but feel that this would be a real bonus if the weather was not so good. The owners were friendly, helpful and discreet and obviously took great pride in their business. The only (very small) gripe we had was that the bed in the main bedroom was very hard and uncomfortable; I appreciate that this is, to an extent, a matter of taste, but it was the hardest mattress I have ever encountered!. however, I unhesitatingly recommend exmoor gate lodges and feel sure that we will return soon.
Rachel from The Only (Very Small) Gripe We Had Was That The Be (21 April 2017)

We had a lovely time when we stayed in easter half term. Staff were very friendly and booking the swimming pool was well worth the money as both my 4 and 6yr old really enjoyed it. It was lovely for walking and exploring and great for our two dogs definately will be back again!
Serena from Shaftesbury (21 April 2017)

This was a lovely location. Fantastic scenery..children loved the hot tub and local pool room and walks. Whilst on our short trip we went to minehead beach, exmoor zoo and the cheddar gorge. . log cabin was comfortable base as we spent a majority of our break away from site. But lovely to come back to the hot tub and super comfy double bed.
Amarjeet from Wolverhàmpton (14 April 2017)

Stay was quite nice. Didn't like the electric meter. Hot tub light wasn't working.
Roger from Cippenham (08 April 2017)

Brilliant holiday in a lovely location. Even the weather was glorious! there are several local pubs that are dog friendly and serve good food at reasonable prices. Even the rock which is in walking distance was still reasonable: compared to hertfordshire prices; although they do like you to book. Owners gave good advice about where to visit. Tar steps and lynmouth were our favourites.
Alison from Hemel Hempstead (07 April 2017)

Lodges, location fantastic. Unfortunately the lady who works there let's the place down enormously! if it wasn't for her we would be booking to go there regularly!!
Katrina from Bristol (27 March 2017)

Excellent lodge with lovely surroundings. . . hot tub was such a lovely treat, so relaxing to sit in and listen to birdsong. . . we even saw a deer at dusk whilst enjoying the hot tub. . . good base to explore the beauty of exmoor.
Marie from Cornwall (27 March 2017)

Second time we have stayed here. Fantastic lodge, staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone!
Kirsty from Bristol (20 March 2017)

Excellent place. . hot tub in ideal location watching the wildlife whilst drinking the fizz
Cei from Bridgwater (18 March 2017)

Just the place to unwind and recharge. Staff extremely helpful and lots of things not to do if you want to relax. We would definitely go again.
Grant from Nottingham (17 March 2017)

Amazing place really peacful, owners very welcoming came home feeling relaxed, the kids loved the swimming pool would definitely recommend hiring the pool and other facilities. . the home made cake was nice too.
Janice from Ebbw Vale, Gwent. (13 March 2017)

Was a beautiful cottage with beautiful surroundings, loved every minute. the only thing I would say is that in the surrounding areas there is no where to left the dogs off.
Helena from Bridgwater (06 March 2017)

Absolutely fantastic stay at exmoor gate, our lodge was perfect, spotlessly clean with everything you need for your stay. The hot tub was amazing and the use of the private swimming pool was perfect. All the staff were friendly and made us feel really welcome!so good my parents have booked in may on our recommendation!thank you so much!!
Phillip from Worcestershire (05 March 2017)

Fantastic little place. Beautiful surroundings. We went as a family of 5 and a dog, with our youngest being 15 months. Amazing value for money and have recommended to friends and family.
Nicola from Pontypridd (05 March 2017)

This place is beautiful and I highly recommend it. Hot tub was amazing. Lodge was clean spacious and modern. Staff are lovely. Can't waited go back.

Clean lodge. Good location although to visit places you and to drive. Villages lovely and people very friendly . hot tub was brilliant. Overall a lovely break for weekend
Laura from Villages Lovely And People Very Friendly (13 February 2017)

Beautiful lodge, extremely immaculate, clean and tidy. The hot tob was amazing and the scenery was picturesque. The owners were very very friendly and we had a brilliant stay.
Nicola from Bristol (06 February 2017)

Beautiful place will definitely be returning.
Kim (23 January 2017)

Wouldn't go back as there wasn't much to do round the area, there was a games room and swimming pool that you pay to use but we couldn't work out where that was. On the first night we realised something kept tripping the electricity. Told the lady who had to get an electrician to change the thermostat so we had to wait in for him when we had just done a long drive and wanted to go and eat. I don't agree that you should have to pay for your electric that should be included with the price, specially as its winter so you need everything on to warm the place up and everything you use such as fire, cooker, shower is electric. Your nearest town is 2.5 miles away and again there isn't much there. The private hot tub was amazing though and that was a plus to the place and the views from your window was lovely specially in the morning. There was some lovely little touches like they provide you with tea coffee washing up stuff and you get two slices of cake on arrival. It is nice if you are planning to go there and do nothing
Kerrie (16 January 2017)

Beautiful place to stay for a peaceful break away. Having the pool and sauna to ourselves was lovely and we really enjoyed having our own hot tub. We loved being tucked away with nothing to disturb us and found some lovely walks to take the dogs.
Amy from Bristol (16 January 2017)

Lovely clean and spacious lodge. Hot tub was a huge hit.
Lucy (09 January 2017)

What a wonderful few days we spent at this excellent location. The lodge was absolutely perfect for all of us (6) and a baby and a dog. The hot tub was a beautiful bonus.
Julie from Bromsgrove (30 December 2016)

The lodge was hard to keep warm and cost a lot of electric. Hot tub was superb. Kitchen facilities were very poor and in need of upgrading.
Veronica from Llanelli (30 December 2016)

We have been twice now for xmas have allready tried to book for xmas 2017 and were told fully booked
Kim from Worcs (30 December 2016)

Lovely country retreat nestled beside woodland and fields perfect for me and my partner and the dogs. Had a lovely time, hot tub was amazing.
Antony from Reading (03 October 2016)

This was a wonderful weekend. the facilities were excellent and very clean. I am disabled and had asked for a parking place with the lodge. unfortunately when we arrived there was no parking space. this was soon resolved by my sister in law and the owner and I managed to park close enough to the lodge that it did not cause me a problem. we had a great weekend and could not have wished for more.
Bridie from South Cerney (26 September 2016)

Ideal for a quiet get away, bit limited on places to eat as nothing like that on site. But surroundings were beautiful. hot tub was an excellent touch along with private use of swimming pool, sauna and steam room.
Mandy from Kent (26 September 2016)

Amazing place to stay! such lovely owners!. perfect for that get away holiday!
Jess (23 September 2016)

Not bad but stayed in better.
Ray from Surrey (19 September 2016)

Fantastic location, brilliant lodges and friendly staff. A perfect location for that getaway with a hot tub too
Keith from Plymouth (19 September 2016)

Reasonable location for touring area. very narrow site alongside a lane up to farms. not easy to unload or load car at lodges which have no parking along side. although car park is close by, site is steep and path has 'chunky' gravel which wasn't suitable for one of our party to walk on.
Lisa (17 September 2016)

Lovely quiet location. Accommodation very clean and tidy
Shirley (16 September 2016)

Fantastic setting. Very peaceful
Marie from Derby (16 September 2016)

Really nice lodge. We got the sleep 9 lodge and it was very spacious. Great hot tub. If you have dogs unfortunately there is no grass around the larger lodge and so you need to walk a little down a hill to find some. Would have given this a 10 if it had a grassy area here. The walks and area are just lovely. Great local pubs and great walks. Please note to bring coins with you for the electricity meter as we didn't realise!. . thumbs up from us!
Steven (12 September 2016)

Very lovely lodge. Clean, modern and we'll furnished. Quiet and secluded. . attitude of staff was . rude during a telephone conversation regarding the hot tub which they thought we may had broken (which we hadnt). . general attitude of staff was dissapointing
Marsha from Bracknell (04 September 2016)

Had a lovely relaxing holiday in beautiful surrounding. lodges were well equipped and clean. the owner was helpful and the hot tub was fab. would definitely recommend and go back in the future.
Lara from Rainham, Essex (02 September 2016)

Owners very helpful and informative.double bed mattress was new,had great sleep.other mattresses need changing as a bit lumpy.
Julie from Bromsgrove (02 September 2016)

Great time kids loved it hot tub brilliant would recommended it. Ps staff very good.
Steve (01 August 2016)

Loved the setting - great views and very peaceful. Hot tub was wonderful every day - made us feel really indulgent.
Denise from Redhill (30 July 2016)

A lovely peaceful location. the lodge and hot tub were all clean and tidy. for two with the odd visitor it was well appointed but if I go back - which i'd certainly like to - i'd probably pack a few spare items like salad bowls, a good chefs knife, bit more cutlery! however for anyone wanting to get away from cooking it's a great area for reasonable pubs with great food. The owners are lovely and really helpful. I hope to return.
Heléna from Exeter (29 July 2016)

Very helpful and friendly staff. Site was well run. Cottage was exactly as described. This was a really nice and peaceful place to spend a few days and is ideally situated to explore devon
Jeff from Alloa (22 July 2016)

Had such a relaxing stay. Loved the hot tub and walks. Staff were very helpful. Will be back one day.
Charlotte from Barnstaple (15 July 2016)

Beautiful location. . staff were so helpful and friendly.
Michelle from Leicestershire (04 July 2016)

Had a great long weekend, nice and relaxing. We stayed in the dunkery, nice and cosy. Only recommendation would be to remove the coin operated meter and absorb the electricity in the cost of the booking.
Ian (20 June 2016)

Lovely quite location
Chris from Bristol (13 June 2016)

Absolutely lovely time the guy was so helpful really lovely place to visit
Alexandra (13 June 2016)

Staff are excellent. Really care and always polite and at hand to help. Very clean and hygienic including the hot tub. Games room is superb for all ages including adults. Swimming pool is brilliant you have kids because you get exclusive hire and its cheap. Really lovely place in a picturesque setting. Need to be prepared to drive 15-30 minutes to go anywhere decent (apart from local walks). would book again for sure.
Steve from Wickford (12 June 2016)

5 adults stayed in "dunkerey" lodge w/c 6/6/16. Excellent relaxed week away!. met by male owner upon slightly early arrival and he was very welcoming and helpful from the outset. He managed to accomodate a motorhome in what was already a full carpark with not the slightest grumble very polite and always said hello on the 3 visits a day to check the hot tub was at correct temperature and chemical levels. . lodge was ample to house 5 adults. Small but adequate kitchen with all equipment and utensils provided. Very clean and all prepared upon arrival. Beds are slightly on the firm side but still a good nights sleep. . . great area for walking and cycling. Wivilescomb town with in hiking distance with pubs shops etc. . follow the websites directions to the lodges as the sat nav route was.. interesting. Passing under a crop sprayer and up verges at 45 deg on small roads could have been avoided by following instructions. . all in all great week away would recommend to friends or revisit
James from Lowestoft (10 June 2016)

Had an amazing stay at exmoor gate lodge. The surroundings are so peaceful and the lodge has everything you would need. Was a perfect and very relaxing trip, would 100% go back again.
Eleanor from Brighton (10 June 2016)

We stayed in appley cottage plus for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. The place is set back with not much going on around it, so we travelled out every day to different places. The cottage itself was lovely and we really enjoyed having a private hot tub, a great way to relax. The staff were lovely and settled us in straight away. The only negative thing we would say is that when booking the holiday we didnt realise that you had to pay by meter for the electricity. Upon arrival we had no pound coins which was the only way of paying the meter so had to go and get some change. We feel that for the amount we paid for the cottage that the electricity should have been a part of the package. We spent the holiday worrying about leaving water heaters, lights, tv, cooker etc on for too long and spending lots on the electric, which put a slight downer on the holiday. . other than that we cant fault the stay.

Beautiful peaceful surrounding. Very tranquil. Great for a holiday where you just want to chill, relax and de stress. Owners were fab and very friendly. Looking forward to another stay soon.
June from Birmingham (27 May 2016)

Amazing place tucked away from the busy lifestyle, had such a relaxing time. The lodge has all you need so you don't have to leave the place. The hot tub was fantastic sitting in the rain in a hot tub looking out to the woodland drinking champagne was a memory i'll never forget. The beds were confortable had great sleep. There was a swimming pool and gym you can rent out but in the three nights I didn't get time, too busy relaxing. Would I recommend, absolutely.
Craig from Maidstone (23 May 2016)

Very clean and spacious accommodation. the owners were very friendly and the location was very good if you are looking for a walking holiday central to some amazing walks. the nearest town is quite a hilly 3 mile walk (about 1.5mile drive) away but we have a very energetic labrador called bear who very much enjoyed the walk and the attention he received when we walked him to the bear inn . we will definately return.
Kelly from Cornwall (20 May 2016)

Had the most amazing time! the people are absolutely lovely. Our second year coming and we will definitely be back again!
Danielle from Oxfordshire (13 May 2016)

Lisa from Devon (28 March 2016)

Loved our stay in honeymead lodge. 4 nights from the 21st of march. It was such a perfect getaway where it didn't matter what time it was. Everything you could need in the lodge- lovely welcome and amazing hot tub. Will be back. Thankyou exmoor gate lodges.
Megan from Weymouth (25 March 2016)

Had a lovely short break here in the winter but weather was lovely. Owners couldn't do enough for us. Everything we needed was supplied and there is plenty to do in the area. Worth booking the swimming pool and sauna for a few hours. Didn't think we'd use the hot tub but weather was so good we did. Lovely and peaceful despite being near the road.
Andrew from Cwmbran (18 March 2016)

The location was wonderful. the lodge was much more than we expected and really enjoyed our stay. The got tub was fab! got very cold at night and paying for electric as you went with coins was quite hefty and run out very quickly!
Samantha from Rushden Northamptonshire (18 March 2016)

Hannah from Worthing (29 February 2016)

Everything had an extra charge. The cabin was freezing cold. To use the heaters meant having to put extra money in the meter and this didn't last 2 minutes. felt as if you couldn't make yourself at home as there were too many rules. heaters were useless. Needed to constantly be wrapped up or you would be freezing cold. Bedding didn't smell very fresh either. Shower was absolutely rubbish. 1 frying pan and 1 baking tray to feed a family of 5! not very practical. after paying a lot of money for the weekend we stayed we would at least expect the electricity to be in with it. The cabin itself was lovely and the hot tub was gorgeous and the owner was a very nice lady but I would not return here as I think it is very overpriced

Cannot fault the owners of exmoor gate lodges. They are absolutely lovely and extremely welcoming. . however compared to other log cabin breaks we have had, this accommodation just wasn't as good. The rooms felt damp -probably due to the fact you have to pay for the electric heaters, and therefore with people probably not using due to cost its having an impact on the comfort of the rooms. The sofas are very small. Make sure you are comfortable with getting cozy to the person you are sat next too! the hottub at the cabin we had was a tight squeeze for 4. We did have a lovely break, but will noy return purely for the fact we have had better for a cheaper price. As I said though, cannot fault the owners :-)
