We were originally booked in a different caravan park and was only informed that they have to move us to coopers beach on the day itself of our holiday. Also, the caravan that was assigned to us was horrible, the pillows did not have any covers and the heating in the caravan was useless. on our second night, we all woke up at 4am due to the caravan being so cold despite the heating still on. If the caravan does not have an effective heating on a weather like this, then they should not have it rented out for anyone at this time of the year. We had children with us and it was a total nightmare.
Crisse (06 November 2017)

Really lovely park, and activities still ran even though we went out of season. We will definitely be going back.
Samantha from Nottingham (03 November 2017)

Swimming pool was very small, food in restaurant not great not much to do at park , caravan clean
Gemma from Heathfield (27 October 2017)

Lovely weekend break, beautiful location, everything we needed
Angela (16 October 2017)

We thought the site looked a little neglected. there were not enough street lights when walking to the entertainment block after dark. . because it was out if season there was no entertainment at night, not enough guests I suppose. . food in restaurant was ok.
Brenda (29 September 2017)

Good size caravan comfortable weather good
Adrian from Rugby (29 September 2017)

Very disappointed with this holiday location and facilities, will never book with them again.
Cindy from Stroud (22 September 2017)

Staff were good swimming pool closed a lot club had nothing on
Peter (18 September 2017)

We were surprised by the tide on entering the island, no warning of this possibility was given to us. also, the so called beach was little more than mud flats. maybe our fault, but it was not clear there would only be a very small access point to the beach. . food choice very limited.
Vivien from Bexhill On Sea (15 September 2017)

Caravan lovely although cleaning could have been better bits of broken glass and breakfast cereal on work surface in kitchen area and on chair and cleaning had only just been completed when we entered caravan. staff very friendly clubhouse and indoor swimming pool lovely.
Sandra from Hadleigh (04 September 2017)

We had an amazing time. Our caravan was lovely, staff were lovely and my girls absolutely loved the entertainment in the evenings. Surrounding area is gorgeous. Only downside is the swimming pool as you have to book because its so small we never got to go in there. But overall an amazing holiday.
Diane from Letchworth (01 September 2017)

Entertainment staff lacked enthusiasm. . not very child friendly smiles & interaction seemed very few & far between. . pool area small for size of holiday park.
Susan (25 August 2017)

Lovely clean well kept park, caravan spotless no issues there. Clubhouse small but entertainment for children ok. Kids enjoyed. Amusement arcade small but ok for an hour or so. Play area could do with a bit more in it but it's passable . restaurant area nice and clean and new and a bonus having outside seating area overlooking sea. Food very overpriced for microwaved basic food. Menu choice poor and unappetising. You need a car on this site as you need to either cook your own food or eat of site. Both pools small and u have to book a 45 minute slot to swim. Indoor pool closed whole week I was there only outdoor pool open which was freezing. When I spoke to the attendant he said pool takes hours to heat up. Hence kids got cold and got out. Shop on site sells essentials, bread, milk eggs etc but again very overpriced. Grumpy staff in shop as well. Older women is miserable and rude . site is ok for quiet weekend or midweek break. Nothing much to do on site although beach was adequate for toddlers when I went. However we were lucky with weather . if weather is bad you would struggle to keep kids entertained here .
Louise from Surrey (18 August 2017)

Staff were very helpful and friendly. The site was clean and well maintained. Our caravan was immaculate and very comfortable. The restaurant was great.
Kate from South Shields (18 August 2017)

We thought the amusement areas for young children were rather sparse and there was very little for older children. the food in the restaurant was good as was the service. The caravan was very well equipped and there was sufficient parking space. overall we had a good holiday but we did spend a lot of time off the camp site. our children are aged 7 and 13.
Rosina from Cheshunt (11 August 2017)

A lovely break with the sea right on your door step. Nice friendly and helpful staff.
Ange from Wiltshire (04 August 2017)

Loved by our 7 year old grandson, and just right for toddler grandson.
David from London (28 July 2017)

Caravan could have done with a good clean. Pool only open on a few occasions owing to staff shortage. Need to check tide times to be able to get on and off the island as only road on and off the island gets flooded at high tides.
Joan from Eastleigh (14 July 2017)

Lovely staff very comfortable club house spotless modern caravan great walks would have no hesitation in recommending it we had a lovely time thank you
George from Rochester (12 May 2017)

We had a lovely few days at coopers beach, our accommodation was outstanding, expensive, but worth the cost. We would have loved to stay longer. Hope to return in the future.
Kevin from Wirral (08 May 2017)

Despite an initial hiccup with the booking which was quickly resolved by the excellent staff on site we had a peaceful stay in a superb lodge. Plenty of wildlife around(we saw a red squirrel one day!!).lovely seafood in west mersea.
Graham from Sittingbourne (06 May 2017)

Site and accommodation was clean and tidy. the bar area was good and we used most nights. Staff were friendly and helpful. Mersea island is very quiet, and you have to travel up to colchester to then go off to anywhere else. . not the most beautiful of coastlines.
Richard from Sheffield (21 April 2017)

Caravan, park and facilities are generally good. Amusements need overhaul. Play park smelt of poo regularly. One way system needs marking out better as several times large lorries got stuck outside the caravan trying to get past each other and also speeding vehicles were a problem so couldn't let children play outside even supervised. If these problems were sorted it would be a great park but so popular I doubt they'd bother.
Neil from Sunderland (21 April 2017)

Our caravan was amazing. The site was lovely and clean. Only problem was a group of kids screaming till about 1 am walking around.
Kerry from Walsall (14 April 2017)

Brilliant holiday! staff were super, great to chat with and always handled questions efficiently! will be going back over the summer!
Clare from London (14 April 2017)

When I booked I stated I needed a deck around the caravan, and was told 100% I had one, on arrival no deck and not another caravan available, our 15 yr old dog as a brain tumour sadly fell up & down the steep caravan steps. It was very distressful.. awful weekend
Lisa (10 April 2017)

Lovely location, very good bar and snacks. caravan comfortable. perfect for families on a limited budget.
Robert from Valencia, Spain (26 September 2016)

This site is quite remote, tv and mobile signals fairly patchy. The caravan was handed to us even before the quoted time. It was very clean and everything worked. Unfortunately, the fridge did not have a freezer box which made food storage a little inconvenient, especially as the on site shop contained little of it, necessitating several 6 mile plus journies to the nearest tesco express. Another minus, and this applies to all other caravans we have previously stayed in, is the lack of net curtains for the large windows, enabling all and sundry passers-by to see in, the alternative being to live with drawn curtains at all times! the site itself was very clean and quiet and we loved the remoteness and ruggedness. We certainly would come again. Thank you.
Michael from Sheerness (17 September 2016)

I choose coopers beach as there was an indoor pool for the children which we hoped to use with my grandchildren (one 7 months and one 22 months), unfortunately the children's pool was not usable as the boiler was broken, we were told that it would be fixed quickly but it wasn't. There is a children's play area but it was not suitable for small children and it was not enclosed or safe. The children's entertainment though was good and it did redeem the site a bit.
Theresa from Norfolk (09 September 2016)

Very clean camp with outstanding clubhouse and food.polite staff.only minor point no bus service
Harry from Toft Shetland (09 September 2016)

Not the best park i've stayed in. While I can not fault the actual caravan, the onsite facilities were lacking. The shop was tiny (and overpriced!), the service in the boathouse wasn't good (no salad, over an hour to wait for a late lunch when there was only two other families in the boathouse and no explanation or warning as to why.) mersea island itself is very picturesque and although the onsite beach was a bit naff, the one 10 minutes up the road was much better. The novelty of seeing the only road covered by high tide was fun too.
Richard from Ely (02 September 2016)

As a family we had a lovely time kids enjoyed every day but we did do days out to clapton. . only negative would be price of food and entertainment wasn't much no disco for kids to run arid and burn their energy away
Kimberley (02 September 2016)

We recently visited for a 5 day holiday in the summer holidays. On arrival the staff were very rude! the indoor pool never opened until the day we left! even though the lifeguard told us every day it would be fixed that day and we will be able to use it. The meal at the so called new restaurant took over 1 and a half hours for us to get and then they mucked up the orders and blamed us!! my daughters meal didn't come out for 2 hours!! they said they were busy but there was only 20 people in the restaurant!! location was okay but would not stay again! the manager was rude aswell!! horrible stay never to return or recommend. Looking forward to going somewhere different with nicer staff!
Kirsty (02 September 2016)

Nice clean camp nice caravan freindly
Jonathan from London (02 September 2016)

Went here beginning of september. . good points:. . nice quiet site not loads of noise at night like some sites. . good location out of the way but only a short drive to other areas of interest. . nice sized entertainment area with nice food at a reasonable price and good all round entertainment for all ages. . good sports area and play ground for kids. . x2 pools were small but nice and the booking slots made it so it wasn't over crowded. . bad points:. . although right on the beach the beach is not great more pebbles than sand so not great for the kids. . arcade and shop were extremely small for the size of the site. . caravan was clean and spacious but was a little dated. . all in all it is a nice site and we would go back again just could do with a few changes to make it a great site.
Rob from Stoke On Trent (02 September 2016)

Loved the place but where you put us was ridiculous. We had 3 small children & an infant. You put us right outside the bar & right next to the open air cinema which went on until 10.30pm at night on our first night then. We asked if the cinema had to be as loud as it was & nothing was done. We left a message at reception complaining & received no callback.
Stephen from Wollaston (02 September 2016)

I spent two weeks at coopers beach with my daughter. The staff were extremely helpful and the activities provided were very good. The caravan was a good size and had all the equipment that we needed . this site is very remote which is good for a getaway (we had visitors who were able to take us off site to look at colchester and shop). wi-fi coverage was awful which was an issue for me there as a lone parent. however my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and that more than made up for the lack of internet and communication access . the entertainment team were particularly good and really made the holiday .
Fiona (15 August 2016)

Entertainment staff was good but not enough entertainment for adults in the evening when on holiday you need to be enterained every night not just 3 nights out of 7.
Martin from Sittingbourne (13 August 2016)

Caravan was nice and clean but cooker was a disgrace, couldn't see which dials belonged to which rings as so worn and no auto ignition so dangerous, 2 rings not working but maintenance man did repair this, dials easily knocked on so a couple of times we found gas on also I checked to see if it was as safety checked as so concerned which it was but carbon monoxide had not been replaced as advised (quite obvious by the state of it). other than that we had an amazing holiday
Alison from Hastings, East Sussex (12 August 2016)

Very clean site shop could have carried wider range of goods . when we were there not many people seem to take advantage of the evening entertainment . overall a pleasant site to take a dog and walking .
Antonio from Kettering (12 August 2016)

Had a lovely weekend would love to go back again highly recommended
Lynette from Newmarket Suffolk (08 August 2016)

This is out third year and we booked for next year. Lovely location, use of two pools, club house and golf/park etc. Nice and relaxing
Jessica from South Woodham Ferrers (08 August 2016)

Lovely location, park was kept clean and tidy and the staff were always helpful. would definitely stay at coopers beach again.
Cathryn from Greenfield, North Wales (05 August 2016)

No internet or phone signal. Poor pool changing not suitable for baby. No space for travel cot in caravans.
Gemma (01 August 2016)

Very nice place ,we really enjoying !!!
Rachid from London (01 August 2016)

Outside swimming closed one day due to lack of staff .. one was off the two that were on duty one was needed to check guests into the pool. It was suggested that other staff could do this admin role this option was declined .... not allowed to do this. . . they therefore need more staff to cover situations like this not reduce advertised facilities in the summer holidays.
Rosemarie from Enfield (30 July 2016)

The caravan was lovely. But there wasn't much to do. More of a weekend resort. The entertainment wasn't overly great. The kids shows was good. Found the staff a bit rude, although the bar staff was lovely. Food was overpriced and not all that. Only got to go swimming once as u had to book in advance. . overall I wouldn't go again as was too quiet and nothing to do.
Abbie from Essex (29 July 2016)

The caravans could do with a bit more furniture. Ie (table and more chairs). also directions on site were very poor.
Joe (23 July 2016)

Staff at reception were arrogant, we booked a bronze caravan for a very vulnerable family and at reception the man made us feel like lower class. We are a charity with low funds and the break was one that the family had not had in many years. the children had to wait for several hours till 4.30 for the caravan and when we got it, it was smelly and old. But , we did not complain because we began to feel that that was all a bronze could expect.
Amy from Colchester (01 July 2016)

Contractors stopping at this holiday park. Peak season killed it for us cheaper stopping at holiday inn with food thrown in
Chris from Halifax (24 June 2016)

We had a lovely weekend staying in a platinum lodge which was spacious and comfortable. we have been before in school hols and the entertainment was better! unfortunately, we all set off for a ride on the foot ferry on the sat but it wasn't running contrary to the info sheet given to us, but enjoyed walking in cudmore park.
Linda from Brentwood (20 June 2016)

I thought the early evening entertainment, especially the children's entertainment was very bad. Each section was long winded and took far too long, there were lots of in jokes between the entertainers which were not funny to the children or adults watching and often the jokes that were child appropriate went over the children's heads. While well meaning and clearly trying to put on a good show, it came over as self indulgent and not entertaining. Truly the worst children's entrainment I have seen.

You get what you pay for, good value but nothing else. Worst swimming pool water ever, dirty and crowdy most of the times.not much to do in that area, very quiet and peaceful village. Not much to do for kids. We went to clacton to have sth to do.no coffee machine at the bar, could not even have a proper drink.would not go back

We had a beautiful lodge and amazed with how much room there was, impeccably clean, the club house was great, the staff very friendly, food brilliant. The pool is a bit small but we were lucky because it was a quiet month. Lived every minute.

Great location. New club house is great but food was at best average so only ate there once. . no wifi on park so teenagers unhappy. No paths to caravans so you have to walk through mud every time you want to do anything which is a real shame as everything else is great. Very helpful staff

Our weekend break at coopers beach was very nice, excellent lodge, modern and clean, the site is well positioned, and a short drive to colchester zoo and castle.. we were happy will all aspects of coopers beach, and happy to go back there again...

Nice place by the sea, need a car to get around. . . male security staff on arrival were very polite and helpful. . caravan was not in great condition and smelled of stale cigarettes. Damaged work tops, floor, cooker hood. Disappointed that I was called several times to take insurance for damage and then arrived to see its condition was an insult. Large and clean but not a silver plus upgrade. . site ok, quiet and simple. Distance to the clacton town over half an hours drive away not 9 miles as the crow flies as per your advert, we would have chose a nearer location had we known. . site over looks the beach, which was nice.

The week was perfect the sun shone every day,the caravan was a disappointment ,gold three was so uncomfortable, the bed as a disabled person dreadful ,no space between the wall and the bed (about a foot)the springs of the bed could be felt,i did say that I was elderly and disabled at lest three times making the booking and had said if the seating was free standing,it made a lovely weeks holiday so difficult for me ,my mobility scooter was left out side but I managed the three steps ,the caravan was spotless the linen to,we were so pleased that I could get any where using the scooter.we will be back but next time perhaps you will have a disabled caravan vacant.

Actual park and location lovely, damp smelly caravan and over priced awful food really let it down!! the club house menu shows lovely meals however my meal was cold, not toasted as in description sent it back, tables sticky, chairs ripped, carpets very dirty, not a pleasant place to eat at all, needless to say we went off site for food for rest of holiday. Caravan was old and outdated, carpet in bathroom... absolutely stunk of damp, very dirty and needs a refit!!! I have been ill since returning with chest infection due to cold and damp in the caravan.

The advertised 'free wi-fi' was virtually unobtainable, though you could pay £5 per day to get a good connection. The kettle was full of horrible furry bits, which made me not use it. The caravan itself was well equipped, but the carpet was very stained , a thorough clean would have made it more appealing.

We enjoyed our holidaay, however there were problems. 1st we had no bedding on the beds other then a few crumpled sheets - we were silver plus- the staff were great and rectified the problem immediately. Upon returning to our caravant the first night the lights blew - security helped over the phone to locate the fuse box to turn the electrics bk on and promised someone would come out to change the blown light bulbs in the morning- in hall and bathroom. The bathroom light is particularly important to us as we have a daughter with major stomach problems and can need the bathroom at anytime. No one came so we made another phone call still no one came this happened all holiday. Thirdly the park held a movie night the next afternoon we went to the park to see rubbish left everywhere, surely this should have been cleaned up immediately. Lastly the first evening we dined in the restuarant- this was tainted by the 3 dead wasps on the window sill by the table. Not everything was bad though the entertainment staff were fantastic and they made the holiday for us

Had fire blow up in face fire alarm fell off ceiling blood on sheets kids sent out of pool so staff can go home partys in next caravan up to 3am filthy caravan hand stuck to side finally got caravan upgrade better but oven had no seal only one tray between oven and grill so couldnt cook as it leeked heat staff was rude and ubrupt on desk until I pulled hr for being so..very disappointing ruined my week and kids week .

Lovely quiet park right on the beach. Our pet friendly gold caravan had sea views and was immaculate. Would recommend takin. G the foot ferry from the island to brightlingsea - great for crabbing off the jetty. Entertainment staff were hilarious and the kids (5 and 10) both loved it. In easy reach of colchester and clacton, colchester zoo was a fab day out, would stay again.

What a wonderful way to avoid the torrential rain and gale force winds that soaked our extended family who were camping in a nearby field. I can imagine it would have been even more fun if the weather had been good because the beach was only a couple of minutes away from our caravan. It would have been great to have had a better onsite shop, longer opening hours for the pool (half an hour on a wet monday morning is not enough) and better sign posting to help find the caravan on the first night, but it was a great experience.

This is a great site on a beautiful part of mersea island with well cared for grounds and tracks where care is taken to give a peaceful and leisurely break. All the caravans are well presented and in immaculate condition. The swimming facilities were excellent with inside and outside pools well cared for. The restaurant and bar were very good with a good choice of dishes.

The camp is well kept. Staff are very helpful and friendly. We booked a disability caravan. The van itself was fine very roomy brilliant bathroom. Only critisism was that it was one of the vans that was the furthest distance from entertainment and amenities. It was quite a walk if you had a disability.

Short break only in june. We take our two cavalier king charles spaniels with us on u.k. Holidays so needed dog friendly accommodation. The site was set up for dogs with ample pooh bins so that was good but the caravan was not nearly clean enough; the double bed was, frankly, well past its self life (though the bed linen was spotless) so we got very little sleep and on the first night the lavatory leaked. I had to use the caravan's dirty mop to mop up the water from the floor. In fairness, once the loo was in regular use, there were no more leaks. The food in the restaurant was abysmal so we only ate there once. The staff, whilst not rude just seemed disinterested. We left after the 3rd night. Won't be returning.

Site needs some serious investment, it looks very tired and dated. Has potential but I think most of the site is privately owned properties so I am not sure what extra revenue can be generated from the remaining 'holiday rental properties'. there is only one food outlet option on site as most people cook themselves, and you need to be an early bird to get a loaf from the cabin style shop.

The site is very nice right on the beach the club house swimming pool shop all very small but nice my caravan was 10 feet from front of clubhouse when I first got there I thought wow its going to be noisy people coming in and out of clubhouse all night but was not to bad in clubhouse there is a restaurant which was expensive when we ordered there was not much left on the menu so had to relook a few times to see what they actually had the food was poor quality it was like eating out of iceland very poor quality the service was not good we had to hunt for knives and forks and condiments and the cleansiness was not good either and closed at 9 which is far to early so was not happy to say that was the one and only time we ate there the site is very remote it quiet far to the shops and restaurants or takeaways a lot of extra driving

Confirmed Holidaymaker (13 April 2015)

Thank you - we all had a great time and would return, even contemplating buying a caravan. Thank you again.

Not really may facilities avaliable except for the pool. the 'entertainment area' looked very run down & old fashioned, needs updating. Also, it wasn't very busy but there were still empty glasses left on the tables & spilt drinks had not been cleaned up. the food was also very expensive! about £7.30 for a fishfinger sandwich! and I couldn't even get my kids a bag of crisps as the had run out!. . but it was in a beautiful location & we did enjoy our holiday
