Back for second visit. A little remote but the lodges are lovely and the hot tub is a great addition.
Customer 1 (16 April 2018)

We had a lovely stay at the lodge staff very helpful and friendly. My young girls loved feeding the animals and going to see the horses every morning, the hot tub was brilliant and a nice treat when we got back from our day out. We will definitely be booking again soon
Philip from Leeds (09 April 2018)

A lovely lodge. Beautiful surroundings looking out over a farm, all the shops & things to do are a bit of a drive but all worth it. The lodge was lovely & clean, the pub down the road we ate in twice because the food was so good & the prices even better.
Hannah from Berkshire (09 April 2018)

Fantastic site, very quiet with beautiful peacocks wandering the grounds. No noise heard at all except for the rooster! the globe inn across the road also owned by the lodge owners and well worth a visit for dinner (a voucher for two free glasses of wine was included in the lodge!)
Jenny from Hamilton (02 April 2018)

Lovely lodge, very clean and quiet location. Hot tub was fab. We had a lovely week. Would definitely recommend
Claire from Staffordshire (02 April 2018)

A great place to come and unwind. location is secluded and you have to travel to nearest town for activities. however, lodge facilities are excellent and of high quality. the addition of a hot tub and the fact that you can bring dogs is a bonus.
Samantha from Leigh (02 April 2018)

We stayed here with our 4 year old and 2 year old. It was a great location for exploring the lakes and not too far at all from scotland. The lodge was spotless. The owner kept the hot tub very clean every day and emptied the water completely for every new guest. The globe pub across the road provided great food and we got a 20% discount. There was a great childrens play area just 5 mins walk away which the owner told us about. We do a lot of lodge breaks and this was one of the best.
Jenny from Liverpool (30 March 2018)

The location was quite a drive away from windemere/keswick. We ordered take out food from the local pub (which is owned by the park owner) and the food was uncooked and I couldn't eat it!! the towels weren't changed and no cleaning was done, which was annoying especially as we had our dog! I would have liked to of being able to vac! . . however, the park was lovely and the lodge was stunning, so homely!!
Jessica from Huddersfield (30 March 2018)

Lovely comfortable and clean lodge with a private aspect. The plots are well spaced with open views. Just off the m6 so very easy to access with lots of beautiful countryside on your doorstep.
Catherine from York (30 March 2018)

We book this the week before we went and didn’t research much. But didn’t need to everything was great till look like new. We will book again. Lovely surround areas
Lisa from Doncaster (26 March 2018)

Exceptionally clean lodge and very well maintained site. Hot tub was perfect and maintained every day lovely and warm. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Had a couple of meals at the local pub which was absolutely fantastic wish we ate there every night. Highly recommend the lasagne and beef burger but could honestly say nothing would disappoint you. . . only wished the site had lodges for 6 people as we would have loved to bring our grown up children absolutely highly recommend this site. . thank you
Sharon from Dumfries (23 March 2018)

Excellent accommodation . well prepared
Isobel from Horsleyhead (23 March 2018)

Really beautiful cottage in a rural and peaceful location with hands on owner (tony) who couldn’t be more welcoming. it was a littlgreat disappointing that there were a couple of outstanding maintenance issues when we arrived but the cleanliness and facilities of the cottage far outweighed any niggles and tony is obviously very keen to ensure that his guests are happy. We would not hesitate to return.
Confirmed Holidaymaker (23 March 2018)

Perfect few days away with my girlfriend, would highly recommend. Friendly staff and some lovely walks nearby. Lodge and hot tub were spotless - would come again.
Charlie from York (23 March 2018)

First the checking in was totally unacceptable.check in is in the globe inn which does not open till 17.00 hours. Note on pub door said you can wait in car park or go to penrith and visit a café or another pub.the lodge itself was poorly stocked,2 wine glasses no dishes for microwave,no trays to cook antyhing in the oven.the welcome pack consisted of small milk 2 bottles of water and a toblerone bar.no info on how to contact anyone outwith pub hours.
William from Crossford (23 March 2018)

Beautiful lodge in a perfect location to explore the lake district. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Absolutely perfect for a relaxing break with family.
Theresa from Tyne And Wear (12 March 2018)

It was a lovely weekend break and the staff couldn’t help us more.
Bethany from Runcorn (05 March 2018)

Superb and relaxing
Graeme from Peterlee (05 March 2018)

The cottage itself was clean and decorated well however, the pictures online make it look secluded whereas it's actually connected to a residential property and right in the entrance of the park so everybody drives passed your veranda. . . negative points would be - dishwasher didn't work well, hob top broken, not many kitchen utensils, shower doors leaked, no toilet roll/hand towel in downstairs toilet. . . positive - hot tub was a lovely touch and looked after very well/cleaned every day. . . we enjoyed our stay but think it was very expensive for what it was and were misled slightly by the photos online compared to the actual location when we arrived.
Charlotte from Gainsborough (26 February 2018)

A small development of just 8 lodges located not far from the m6, the lodges are situated behind a large house used for weddings. In a very small village with one pub and no shops.
Deborah from Glasgow (26 February 2018)

A perfect break with my family
Michael from Hx3 8Tu (23 February 2018)

Lovely lodges - hot tub was great especially after a days walking. The local pub is lovely and food is gorgeous, staff very helpful. Would return
Melanie from Nottingham (23 February 2018)

Beautiful lodge, very quiet and relaxing location. Perfect if you are looking for a nice peaceful break.
Natalie from Manchester (19 February 2018)

Tony and his team were fantastic. We booked a last minute break for half term this february and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. We were delighted with the accommodation. It’s spacious, modern and very clean. The kitchen was well equipped so we ate lots of meals in. the accomodation was very warm and had incredibly hot water. The wifi always worked fine for us. We have stayed at lots of places with hot tubs, but my son thought this one was the best by far. This too was immaculate. I would definitely recommend this property and would love to go back and stay there again.
Billie from South Tyneside (16 February 2018)

Fantastic!hot tub issue.. fixed in a day! beautiful lodge.
Joanna from Sunderland (16 February 2018)

We had a lovely relaxing time here place was spotless and well worth it.
Christine from Skelmersdale (12 February 2018)

I booked a last minute weekend break for me and the kids because I wanted a couple of quiet days away from my usual busy life. It was amazing, beautiful surroundings, gorgeous property and our own private hot tub. Everything I needed just to switch off for a couple of days. The lodges are in the middle of nowhere, but penrith is just a few miles down the road for anything that you might need.
Gemma (12 February 2018)

Excellent lodge which was very clean and comfortable. staff and owner were extremely friendly and welcoming. . . the only downside was the late check in time. Effectively we lost a full day.
Paul from Glasgow (09 February 2018)

Great family break. Friendly staff.
Kate from York (05 February 2018)

Beautiful location . lodge was like new. Hot tub fantastic . friendly staff. Local pub friendly and great food . overall would highly recommend

Beautiful setting, beautiful accommodation, spotlessly clean with a feeling of luxury.
Arlene from Glasgow (15 January 2018)

Highly recommended!! the lodge is beautiful, cleaned to a very high standard and stocked with everything you need. The staff are superb, very friendly and helpful. The hot tub is amazing! if you are looking for a relaxing break with plenty of fresh air, wildlife and great local company then this is the place to go. The local pub is a great place to have some lovely food and meet new people. We have booked again for christmas and can't wait! truly wonderful, a little piece of paradise.
Sarah from Huddersfield (06 January 2018)

Absolutely lovey place, food in the globe a must,
Jeanette from Huddersfield (03 January 2018)

Very nice accomodation, beautiful location helpful staff.i did suffer quite a nasty fall on arrival, decking was very slippery so that is something that needs looking at. But overall had a great time
Customer 34 from Merseyside (03 January 2018)

A lovely clean spacious lodge. The perfect place to spend a quiet christmas with family. The hot tub was fabulous and a real luxury! staff we’re really friendly and helpful. My only criticism is the floors were a bit cold but given the outside temperature, it wasn’t really surprising.
Jayne from County Durham (27 December 2017)

This was our third time at the lodge and we will definitely be back. We had a wonderful time and tony and the staff are all brilliant and helpful.
Rebecca And Martin from North Yorkshire (22 December 2017)

Excellent accommodation, kids loved been in the hot tub. Excellent staff, friendly and always made to feel welcome. Highley recommended anytime. . will be back again.
Antony from Bradford (11 December 2017)

Excellent location with a lovely pub nearby with lovely friendly staff. Only downside was waiting till 5 pm to be male to access the lodge with no facilities close by to spend some time. Apart from this would really recommend
Elizabeth from Glasgow (13 November 2017)

Beautiful lodge central to all the lakes, gretna green not to far away is a must, it was lovely clean and comfortable. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Lovely pub at the end of the drive with homemade food. Hot tub was checked everyday. Excellent value for money.
Tracey from Walsall (10 November 2017)

Beautiful clean modern lodge set in beautiful surrounding 5
Julie from Nottingham (06 November 2017)

The carriage house is modern with lots of space, located in a lovely gated area. The location is in-between the lakes and scotland so there's lots of places to visit and after a busy day you can relax in the outside hot tub which we took full advantage of. . . you must try the food at the globe inn it is amazing and very reasonable. . we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again.
Elizabeth from Hull (03 November 2017)

Omg what can I say this is now our 5th stay this year and just gets better it's like being at home. We have stayed in both the lodges and the carrage house both are luxurious and spacious. The surroundings are very well maintained and has magnificent views. Location is spot on and central 30 mins in to the lakes and 10 mins to pooley bridge or penrith where locals are very welcoming and has a great range of traditional shops. The global inn is a stone's throw away and a part of the halls umberella which serves great homely food and a great selection of beer wines and spirits. And last the hot tub wow great to soak in the surroundings after a long day of doing nothing. The owner tony a his staff and kelly do an amazing job to make your stay memorable please keep up the great work an will see you soon. The park family

Beautiful location, superb lodge and very helpful staff.
Victoria from Durham (27 October 2017)

Absolutely fabulous. The location is just perfect for a quiet family break with easy access to the beautiful lake district. The lodges are the nicest we've stayed in, immaculate and fitted to a high spec. The owners were just lovely and couldn't help you enough. My little girl loved that the horses were right in front of the lodge and she was even allowed to help them be fed and taken out to the fields. We loved it and will definitely be back.
Tracey from Dunfermline (20 October 2017)

Lovely lodge very clean an fantastic facilities, we travelled with our pet and 2 daughters great base for surrounding area. Very peaceful and pub food excellent would definitely return x hot tub good too x
Amanda from Larkhall (16 October 2017)

Lodge very modern in the middle of nowhere feels isolated which is what we wanted. Clean enough but could of done with an hoover with 2 dogs this would of come in handy.
Keeley from Bolton (09 October 2017)

Had a fab time here, staff was all lovely and friendly great little pub on site with home made food! . hot tubs where fab! xx
Caroline from Bolton (09 October 2017)

Lovely place, but just a little bit far out from good scenery, also the m6 was just at the bottom of the field
Derek from Hartlepool (02 October 2017)

This place was perfect, the lodge was spotless and done in the best up to date decor very roomy for us four ladies, and and the hot tub was a real delight & cared for every day by the owner, the globe pub opposite had the most delicious home made food, and the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. we will be booking again in the future there is nothing to not to like about this place.
Brenda from Waltham Cross Hertfordshire (29 September 2017)

We had a great stay at calthwaite hall the lodges were very clean and cosy. the hot tub was so relaxing after a day out.
Carol from Salford (29 September 2017)

We were a group of young adults, we stay at a log cabin/lodge every year and this site was not suitable at all. Should state on website more suitable to families/couples looking for a quiet retreat.
Lauren from Glasgow (25 September 2017)

Great location, well equipped and furnished lodge
Kimberley from Glasgow (22 September 2017)

Such a beautiful place to stay. The lodge had everything we needed and more. The welcome pack was a lovely touch aswell. it was furnished to the highest standard and the hot tub was a lovely addition. The grounds were stunning and we loved watching the peacocks just wandering around.
Faye from Coventry (22 September 2017)

Lovely lodges amazing views. Hot tub was amazing, lodge was very nice everything new in it. Second bedroom on the small size. Local pub nearby but had to drive to other locations but within easy reach. Well worth a visit.

Lovely quiet and relaxing holiday in nice setting and lovely lodges
Neil from Durham (15 September 2017)

Had a very relaxing and peaceful break. The staff and owners were brilliant and the food and hospitality in the pub was amazing couldn't fault it. Ideal base for north lakes
John from Motherwell (14 September 2017)

Beautiful location lovley lodge excellent facilities
Alan from Gateshead Tyne And Wear (08 September 2017)

We enjoyed staying at calthwaite hall lodge, only issue was road noise, lodges are spotless and a credit to kerry and her team at globe inn pub, great food
Gordon from Kelso (08 September 2017)

Holiday was really good. Although not enough towels provided. Also didn't get keys to lodge until 5 o'clock so by the time we got signed in it was 6 which wasted the first day. I think booking in times should be earlier
Marion from Kilmarnock (08 September 2017)

Lovely cottage with good facilities although cooking utensils etc were lacking. The mattress on the double bed was poor and needs replacing with one of much better quality. Enjoyed the cottage but is a bit remote from the lakes,
David from Beverley (01 September 2017)

Calthwaite hall is located 200 yards from the m6 motorway and main west-coast train line. There's constant white-noise from traffic, 24 hours a day. Not relaxing at all, this critical factor was not made known when booking. . the booking process was seriously misrepresented. The photographs of the avondale lodge are false & misleading. The view from the lodge clearly shows acres of green grass with a tree-line in the distance, giving the impression of wide open space and tranquility. The reality is the complete opposite, as noted above. I do not appreciate being mislead. . avondale is a static-caravan, we expected a lodge or a log-cabin. That said, avondale was comfortable, clean and in excellent condition.
Scott from Hedon (01 September 2017)

Beautiful, quiet location. Hot tub was fabulous. lodge contained everything we needed and more. staff were lovely, food at pub delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Tracy from Ashington, Northumberland (25 August 2017)

Evie from Derby (18 August 2017)

Immaculate lodges, quiet site, lovely food served in the pub we wound defiantly stay here again.
Customer 65 (11 August 2017)

Great lodges in a beautiful quiet location..the staff were very helpful and very friendly.
Lynda from Heysham (21 July 2017)

Great lodge if a little small. Location is lovely but had to drive a fair bit to get to the places we wanted. The addition of the pub at the end of the road is fabulous. We are there 2 nights out of 4 and did takeaway from there on the 3rd night!
Leanne from Glasgow (14 July 2017)

Just needed relaxation and that's exactly what we got! lovely surroundings!
Michelle from Knowsley Liverpool (14 July 2017)

Was ok - basic lodge - not much to do on estate - not signposted dog walks - very close to other lodges
Les from Workington (10 July 2017)

Fab little park, lodge beautiful, modern and so clean, would definitely recommend
Joann from Sunderland (30 June 2017)

Spent a week here from 12th to 19th june, lodge was fab so modern and clean only negative was flies due to being so near the horses which we loved to watch on the decking along with the peacocks and other animals.if you're considering going here just book it its well truly amazing best part was being allowed to take dog with us .
Tricia from Renfrew (19 June 2017)

Quiet location which suited us perfectly. Friendly pub just across the road from the lodges. Calthwaite hall can be booked for functions & accommodation in lodges booked simultaneously.
Mary from West Lothian, Scotland (26 May 2017)

We had a lovely time at calthwaite, the staff were extremely helpful and lovely. It is extremely rural no local shop etc so be prepared to drive for any amenities. Fabulous accommodation

George from Irby (07 April 2017)

Beautiful site and was a joy waking up to peacocks on our veranda and horses in the fields beyond. staff were friendly and happy for you to wander around the farm to see the animals, which was great for the kids. lots to do in the area and great food and drink in the pub across the road. the whole family really enjoyed it here and hope to go back again soon.
Daniel from Altrincham (03 April 2017)

Had a great time, friendly staff, pub was good.
Sarah from Morpeth (31 March 2017)

The staff were lovely and the local pub was excellent. A bit disappointed on arrival as the cabin was really a glorified static caravan and you could view the motorway and the noise was always there. the settings around the animals was lovely but it was just the layout would not have wished to have been in any of the other cabins.
Gordon from Burnham-On-Sea (20 March 2017)

Immaculate. Beautiful. Children thoroughly enjoyed it just as much as us
Stephen from Newcastle Upon Tyne (19 March 2017)

Enjoyed our time at the lodge. Very clean hot tub due to owner cleaning everyday. Immaculate inside and out. Shame we didn't try the pub as the food is supposed to good

Brilliant relaxing break..
John from Carlisle (06 March 2017)

Carnt wait to go back in may hidden gem in beautiful surroundings very relaxing break away
Michelle from Spennymoor (06 March 2017)

We had a lovely midweek break. Shame that the hot tubs where added after the decking. Never saw any staff but didn't need to until checking out. the lodge was absolutely gourgous we loved it !
Bryan from Formby (03 March 2017)

An amazing lodge, on a lovely quiet site. Staff really helpful and a great break. Would definitely come back.
Mark from Manchester (17 February 2017)

Would go back again, lovely grounds
Alan from Warrington, Cheshire (13 February 2017)

Had a fantastic week at calthwaite hall. Lodge was one of the best we have stayed in. Very good value for money, and extremely handy for the lakes. Have previously stayed at nearby thanet well, but they have increased their prices significantly over recent years. Calthwaite hall provided a fantastic experience at a price which we think was good for the time of year.
Paul from Burntwood (10 February 2017)

We had a fantastic weekend in fabulous surroundings. tony, the host, was very welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed chatting to him about the development and area. An added bonus was the resident peacocks who visited us every morning on our deck and provided a magnificent display. . we are planning to book our 2018 visit after next payday!!!
Shelley from Cumbria (06 February 2017)

Immaculately clean lodge, twin room was very small (suitable for children but not ideal for two adults). one pub in walking distance which was friendly and served lovely food but really needed a car to drive everywhere else. nearest shops we found were penrith for groceries etc.
Amanda from Edinburgh (30 January 2017)

Great little place. Check in was easy and the staff very friendly. Lovely lodge in a little very setting
Emma from Gainsborough (30 January 2017)

Not technically a lodge but rather a mobile home. Lovely interior and the hot tub is a great addition.
Wendy from Stirling (30 January 2017)

10 out of 10 lovely break!
Natasha from Nottingham (23 January 2017)

Lodge was great very comfortable and warm. Tony was very helpfull and was lovely to see the wild birds roaming around free. The globe inn is a lovely local pub with excellent food the staff there are also lovely nothing too much trouble.
Karen from Bromborough (16 January 2017)

One of the nicest lodges we have ever stated in, guys that own the lodges and the hall also gave the local pub too...made to feel very welcome by everyone
Sarah from Whitley Bay (03 October 2016)

Calthwaite 4 -beautiful lodge very spacious, luxurious and very comfortable- great location with a lovely pub across the road with a delicious menu. host, tony was very friendly and helpful and the addition of a welcome bottle of wine and chocolate (and milk) was most appreciated. the grounds are also home to some stunning peacocks, shetland ponies and horses which you are free to visit, it was lovely to wake up and watch the peacocks sitting on the balcony! hot tub was heavenly after a day out walking, could use a dim outside light and a couple of a hooks for towels/robes but a chair did the job. definitely recommend a visit to this gorgeous lodge! tracy and dave, nantwich.
David from Nantwich (30 September 2016)

We had a fantastic weekend staying here as 2 couples. The lodge was beautiful, very modern. The hot tub was great for relaxing. The staff were so helpful & even left a wee welcome gift for us which was a really lovely touch. There were quite a lot of flies in the lodge but it is a working farm. It would be helpful to have some fly killer in the lodge to help with this. We would definitely return without hesitation! looking forward to seeing the new lodges as they are built.
Emma from Glasgow (26 September 2016)

Had a great holiday, the lodge was amazing as was the surroundings. Tony was so helpful and the food was lovely at the inn. Would definitely stay again
Jennifer (26 September 2016)

Good experience
Peter from Leeds (23 September 2016)

Great weekend. Owners are lovely and very friendly. Sunday lunch in the pub at the end of the drive was very tasty. Lodge was very clean and hot tub fabulous.
Julie from Northumberland (19 September 2016)

Absolute fantastic place to stay, really nice warm welcome from everyone on site and in the local pub(fantastic food). would highly recommend if you wish to sit back and relax. Thanks a lot for a great break and will definitely be back soon
Sam from Staffordshire (19 September 2016)

Stayed with my mister and my sausage dog. we was welcomed and enjoy our time here. we are intending on returning. we enjoyed the privacy of the hot tub and the surroundings. The local pub was a good spot to grab food and a drink. We was lucky we had some lovely weather. it is about 15 mins from the nearest down so can still get the relaxation you need.
Adele from Wakefield (16 September 2016)

This place is amazing. Absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Had all mod cons and the wifi was pretty decent for what we needed. The farm was lovely and the horses are very friendly.
Stacy from Manchester (12 September 2016)

Towels smelt, so we bought detergent and washed them. The hot tub wasn't clean probably (we ended up with spa pool folliculitis) the owner was trying though and we seen him clean it numerous times perhaps it was just because it's a new thing for him. beautiful location, owner was friendly and polite.
Peter from Newcastle (29 August 2016)

Great location and looking at the plans for the site, it will only get better. Did enjoy being the only lodge on site as it keeps everything so quiet - apart from the horses, turkeys, peacocks and all the other animals on site:) - but adding a few more will not change the atmosphere too much. Pub is straight outside the gates to the hall which does help after a long day travelling the lakes and walking:). overall a great location and tony and paul are great hosts, always willing to do anything to assist in your stay.
Paul from Rochdale (01 August 2016)

Kitchen very poorly equipped for self catering. Not even a casserole dish or collander. wi-fi signal not very good, in fact we did not have internet access for more than half our weeks stay. This was one of the reasons we booked as we have a teenage daughter. As there are horses near lodge we were unable to keep lodge windows or patio doors open due to number of flies that came into lodge when we done this.
Christine from Law (15 July 2016)

Fantastic lodge clean and modern! we will definitely be coming back.
Helen from Newcastle (08 July 2016)

Thankyou paul and tony for the most wonderful week, perfect accomodation, scenery and surroundings, you think of everything even down to the wine and chocolate!you'll defiantly see us again.
Tracy from Midlands (24 June 2016)

Very comfortable and well equipped. the lodge is a 2 minute walk from the local pub serving a great range of delicious food in very generous portions. had a very enjoyable break. we enjoyed watching the comical guinea fowl running around and made friends with the friendliest turkey ever.
Gareth from South Shields (17 June 2016)

Stayed here for 4 nights and could have stayed forever. absolutely fell in love with the place, it is the nicest lodge we have ever stayed in. The animals were lovely to see and the grounds around the hall were beautiful. it is a credit to the owners and I am looking forward to going again very soon

Excellent 4 day stay in calthwaite hall lodges. The lodge was very new and had everything you needed - everything was to a very high spec. Very comfortable and with a terrific view of all the animals on the adjacent land. Staff on site were great too and even gave us some freshly layed eggs.! the lodge is right in the middle of the village of calthwaite and while there's not much there it does have an excellent pub which serves great food. When we were there the site only had the one lodge but intended siting more this summer. Would certainly return.
