Was a very lovely lodge indeed and well worth the money, however the road leading to the lodges is very poor and not that easy for non 4x4 's to use .a single track with not many areas to pass and I had an incident with slme horses where my car was dsmaged.
Ralph from Bath (11 December 2017)

Beautiful lodge in beautiful setting. The lodge had everything you could possibly need. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise. would say to anybody interested just book a holiday at bulworthy forest lodges.
Richard from West Sussex. (04 December 2017)

Fantastic location for our short honeymoon, the accommodation was first class and suited us with plenty of locations for walking with our spaniel and a warm and cozy lodge to return to.
Rob from Cardiff (02 December 2017)

Out of season holiday but still able to find places to go. We wanted peace and we got it. Lodge comfortable and warm. The hot tub brilliant. My brother managed to break a couple of things, staff very understanding and repairs very quickly dealt with.
June from Worcester (01 December 2017)

Lovely location. Lovely lodge with easy to use appliances and instructions. Everything you need is provided. Very happy
Katie (27 November 2017)

Our second visit and it was exactly as we hoped it would be. We will go back soon.
Andrew from Bedworth (26 November 2017)

Great place to go to 'escape' ! lodge was basic, but clean and well maintained and the little extras (like coffee and a little cake on arrive) were a really nice touch. You do need a decent car for the country lanes etc as it is a little out of the way, but this just added to the charm for us. If looking for a holiday park type setting, then this is not for you. But if you want beautiful and peaceful surroundings in which to recharge, at a great price, then it's a winner!
Eve (20 November 2017)

We had a wonderful peaceful and relaxing week and would not hesitate to stay there again
Deanne from Bournemouth (18 November 2017)

Amazing holiday. Everything was perfect. Looking to book again
Joanne from Blaenavon (17 November 2017)

Wonderful peaceful break at a very reasonable price! brilliant thank you! will definitely be returning next year
Dan from Weston-Super-Mare (14 November 2017)

Absolutely loved staying & didn’t want to leave.. will be booking to stay again.
Andrew from South Petherton (14 November 2017)

A lovely peaceful setting to just unwind and relax.
Emma from South Petherton (10 November 2017)

Great set up and location. Wish the hot tub had of been set up and ready but other than that it was perfect! home made scones with clotted cream and jam were such a great treat! just wish they were bigger . great stay thank you.
Steven from Durham (05 November 2017)

Lovely setting in quiet woodland . staff very helpful had issue with cooker but sorted quickly and very pleasant to deal with .
Darren (31 October 2017)

Nice and warm inside, hot tub great, shame about the muddy narrow roads, but that's a small price to pay for tranquility.
Mike from Helston (30 October 2017)

Lovely clean lodges and surroundings areas
Simon from Reading (29 October 2017)

Lodge was excellent &photo online was right, reason for picking the rosebay. I am disabled chronic pain back etc. &walking ltd. ,park the car just outside lodge entrance, brillianta downside was the road ,so many potholes, etc.,didn't do me any good but that me, a trouble free person would not be a problem .
Derek from Portsmouth (28 October 2017)

Peaceful and tranquil, if that's what you are looking for in a holiday, then this is definitely the place to go. Stunning surroundings, beautiful and well equipped lodge and helpful staff at hand. We had a wonderful time and hope to go back some time.
Samantha from Essex (28 October 2017)

Lovely location down quiet country roads. Plenty of wildlife about on site. Lodge very clean on arrival, although door mat could do with being a tad larger when the weather is not so good, especially when coming back in with a dog.
Alexander (20 October 2017)

We really enjoyed the lodges - they had pretty much everything that we needed
Jo from Devon (20 October 2017)

Not much around but it's nice to be in the middle of nowhere.
Melissa from Bristol (17 October 2017)

Amazing holiday and location and the staff were so friendly. Unfortunately our lodge had quite a bit of damage inside with various items not working, and when mentioned was told the lodge was having a refurb the following month, which I thought was great but slightly disappointed in paying full price for half the experience.
Sean (14 October 2017)

Myself, my other half, his sister and her dog stayed in oakapple during the first week of october, upon arrival there was a note at the door (no reception to check in or anything, just rock up to the cabin and let yourself in - I absolutely loved that) which was a welcome note and outlined the basics. In the kitchen there was a cream tea with tea, coffee, sugar, milk, scones, clotted cream and jam, which was an amazing touch!. the first thing that I noticed was the impeccably spotless state of the whole cabin, it was incredibly clean and I couldn't fault them at all (and I was a professional cleaner!). I did no meet liz myself, but my other half did and he said she was really nice. My sister-in-law and I met mark a few times and he was very helpful - he even gave us some crayfish that he caught in the pond for us to cook and and try! mark and liz were both readily available if we needed anything, but did not bother us at all for our entire stay, it is a very independent place. The location is stunning, the forest walks are gorgeous especially in autumn as the leaves start to change colour. There is a tesco 10 minutes up the road on the outskirts of bideford which was very handy. All in all, an amazing week and we definitely plan to re-book for next year!
Katie from Chulmleigh (07 October 2017)

Lovely peaceful place. Welcoming cream tea a great idea. . will be returning next year.
Angela from Worcester (07 October 2017)

The cabin was great the fishing was good walks were good the only thing wrong was I booked this for a relaxing holiday the piece and quiet the fishing and mainly because it said it had a hot tub this was the main reason I booked it but when we went use the hot tub they said the cabin didn't come with a hot tub even though it was there we were very disappointed . I would wave booked somewhere else if I had known
Daryl (07 October 2017)

Lodge good but to remote. Electric shower waste of time.
John D (07 October 2017)

Set well into the forest, fishers wood is a lovely quiet secluded place. A cream tea and all the makings for a cuppa awaited us when we arrived. Clean, spacious lodges, home from home.
Brian from Torpoint (07 October 2017)

Amazing place and amazing people who run it
Leanne from Yeovil (02 October 2017)

We have stayed at this site on a number of occasions the first being some fifteen years ago. It offers wonderful peace and quiet in a lovely location with several small fishing lakes on site for the not too serious angler. when last at this site some five years ago we noted a dated look to the lodges which we hoped had been updated this time round especially as it has new owners, sadly this was not the case apart from a few small replacements the lodges remain much the same. Our booking was for four adults but the lodge was made-up for two only this was put right on bringing to the attention of the owner but only after having no sheets or pillow cases on two of the beds. The lounge seating was also lacking with, a two-seater and armchair, for four people? all in all we enjoyed the break but felt it could have been so much nicer with very little extra except a little more thought perhaps!
Ray from Norfolk (30 September 2017)

Stayed in oakwood, very well equipped, clean and spacious lodge. Especially liked the 'welcome box' complete with devon cream tea. Exactly what we needed after the drive down. . the only disaapointing details was the extremely uncomfortable mattress/creaky pine bed and the layout in the main bedroom. The sloping roof in this room is an issue when using that side of the bed. (bumped our heads on more than one occasion). . other than that it's a fabulous location and the hot tub is lush!
Tessa from Kent (30 September 2017)

Great place to relax away from it all, comfortable and well equipped lodge, would visit again.
Julia from Birmingham (30 September 2017)

Couldn't have asked for more
Carron from Somerset (29 September 2017)

Very nice lodge. Plenty of space. Hot tub was great!
Verity (29 September 2017)

Lovely cabins lovely place but the road to get there put me off going again, sorry did not need staff while we where there.
Customer 34 (23 September 2017)

A brilliant peaceful holiday destination. It's situated in a lovely forestry setting with only the sound of the wildlife for company.
Derek from Essex (23 September 2017)

Brilliant stay, a real get away from it all holiday. loved everything, bit nervous about driving in and out to nearest tesco .. but that is country living and no fault of anyone. only suggestion is local footpath map for our of complex as we would have liked to do some walks from there, but couldn't find directions anywhere .. the owner did tell us verbally, but I couldn't remember what he said. definitely will come again.
Kevin from Isle Of Wight (22 September 2017)

The foxglove was a super spacious & very warm comfortable cabin, with a wonderful hot tub that we used often & this was always a great temperature, considering it was mid september. The area is so peaceful, with many birds, pheasants & squirrels. We venued out once to instow, but had everything we wanted at the foxglove, great elevation, views & peacefulness. Many thanks
Michelle from Gloucester (22 September 2017)

Such an amazing long weekend. Hot tub was amazing, beautiful surroundings and walks to go on! the lodge had everything that you needed and more! can't wait to come again!
Amy (18 September 2017)

I really liked the lodges, the quality is fantastic. The only reason I have marked down the staff is because, I wasn't made aware the on arrival you literally have to find your specific lodge and the key is in door. We and another couple were very confused and with nobody around to ask it was a little poor.
Ian from West Yorkshire (12 September 2017)

We arrived quite late in the day, but were delighted to find a welcome box in the cabin with tea and coffee makings, jam, cream and fresh made scones which were wonderful. We were met by helpful staff who apologised for the lack of hot water in the kitchen that evening as they were waiting for repair parts for the boiler-forewarned it was not an issue-the boiler was repaired and working by the time we got up after a lay in in the morning-blinding!. the woods were beautiful, quiet, peaceful and undisturbed. The phone reception was as poor as advertised and the wifi was non-existent, again as advertised, marvelous for us as we wanted a really quiet time and we got just that. Location is great, just a short drive to bideford or barnstaple for sight seeing or shopping, but remote enough to be undisturbed when we wanted. All in all a great break and we'd love to go back-soon
Peter from Sidcup (09 September 2017)

The interior of lodge was tired and basic. Hot water failed after one day. Main tvs screen badly scratched. Whole place could do with a re vamp. Grounds not very dog friendly, they had to be kept on lead at all times even when not near angling lake. Footpaths were very muddy in places and not easy to walk on. Approach road to site was narrow, single track with virtually no passing places with soft muddy verges.a drivers nightmare. Won't be recommending the site to friends.
Paul from Bristol (08 September 2017)

Lodge in need of a refurbishment.
Catherine from Fordingbridge (08 September 2017)

We have stayed at bulworthy for years along with other family groups who have also now return for several years. It's sad no loyalty discount applies. The facilities in larches lodge, wifi, larger hot tub and just the lodge being better equipped in general. Chestnut lodge was the same price but smaller hot tub, less kitchen appliances etc even the sizes and quality of saucepans was poorer in chestnut. We love bulworthy as it's a summer haven for us but the false advertising for wifi was a bit poor too. And no hairdryer in the lodge. Had to wait two days for one from the owners.
Dawn from Norwich (02 September 2017)

Great
Darren from Oxford (01 September 2017)

Didn't need to bother the staff hence no mark given. The holiday was fantastic in awesome surroundings and a comfortable lodge
Andrew from Bulkington (29 August 2017)

The location and the lodge were both beautiful,?we would definitely love to go again. I understand them at the lodge we stayed in is going to have a hot tub, this will be a perfect addition. I have highly recommend it already to friends and family.
Lisa from Cheshire (28 August 2017)

Great place, really enjoyed it
Nick (26 August 2017)

Staff were friendly and helpful. However the lodge was "tired" - needs updating and refurbishing - wasn't a patch on a similarly priced holiday house in dorset at the same time last year. Because of the overhanging verandah and the forest setting the sun only shone in through the bathroom window - we needed lights on inside for most of the time. The verandah itself got a little sun in the morning. Unfortunately there was quite often a smell of drains. The forest setting was attractive but the approach is down single track roads for about a mile. Once there, the approach to many lodges is very steep - I wouldn't like to do it in a car in winter unless it was 4-wheel drive.
Sheila from Manchester (26 August 2017)

Hunter lodge had everything we needed. Plenty of space for 2 adults 2 kids and one toddler. Lovely view of lake.
Laura from Gloucestershire (25 August 2017)

Family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens, 1 four year old) and 2 dogs stayed in oakapple lodge in august. Accommodation was clean, well equipped, comfortable and spacious. Owners were helpful when I phoned with a query prior to arrival and were on hand if needed but gave us plenty of space to enjoy our holiday. Beautiful, peaceful location.
Dawn (25 August 2017)

Lodge was in dire need of new flooring all through also floor tiles in bathroom cracked n mould above the shower and the beds was very uncomfy
Dawn from Doncaster (19 August 2017)

Fantastic lodge very peaceful and a great base for exploring north devon.
Karan from Surrey (19 August 2017)

Beautifully situated and very remote, well off the beaten track. Lakes and trees all around and very peaceful. Bird-song everywhere, day and night. Close to bideford for provisions and cycling on the tarka trail.
Patrick from Kent (14 August 2017)

Although the log cabin was well equipped, the decor was a bit dated. The location was ideal although everywhere had to be accessed by car. Good for a hideaway getaway, fishing and walking.
Ian from Rangemore (14 August 2017)

Very nice but a little too remind the for us.
Deborah from Oxfordshire (12 August 2017)

First class lodges
Ronald from Southampton (12 August 2017)

Loved the holiday - never had a lodge before - would have another lodge but not at that park, too remote to get to and no lighting with narrow and bumpy dirt track to main road. Views breath taking. Lodge it self lovely but did have a couple of issues, central heating didn't work in all rooms, and the light above patio did not work, and towels a bit small, doors and windows were very cob webby !!
Mark from Woodside (12 August 2017)

The only negative I had was that even though we had a sauna in the cabin it never worked even though the owners had a couple attempts at trying to solve the issue
Wilson from Wingate (11 August 2017)

We had a lovely relaxing holiday and will be going back again.
Collette (05 August 2017)

We had an amazing time here, such a beautiful and tranquil setting. Everything we could of needed in terms of equipment at the lodge was catered for. Thank you.
Debbie (04 August 2017)

Nice little lodge everything you need for a stay. Kitchen fully equipped. Wifi pretty none existent but that is just the area not the sites fault as they have provided boosters but still not good. Lovely area driving in the lanes takes a bit of getting used too. Instow and saunton beach are best for taking dogs on.
Rebecca (22 July 2017)

Fab holiday beautiful surroundings.
Ellen (21 July 2017)

The location was beautiful, but let down by the quality of the accommodation, which was in need of a new bathroom, and an overall update, also very musty.
Alison from Crawley (17 July 2017)

On arrival we did not have the code for the key safe...this is a brilliant idea if all parties are on the ball..luckily liz was on the end of her phone and gave it to us apparently we should have been given this info before travelling by hoeseasons..need to sort this! otherwise va very pleasant stay in a very well equipped lodge
Irene from Redditch (17 July 2017)

Just overall a bit disappointing and lacking style. The lodge was comfortable and clean but the quality of the white goods for example was poor.
Karen from Edinburgh (15 July 2017)

Very comfortable and relaxing stay at oakapple, very clean and spacious had everything we needed and we loved the hot tub. very close to nearby beach and small town of instow which we found very appealing with its dog friendly beach great pubs/restaurants.
Paul from Tipton (15 July 2017)

Quite extensive driving down very narrow single track lanes was arduous. Lack of internet was also an issue as I have my own company and I believed I could keep up to date with my emails. . on the plus side the lodge and its contents were lovely and the lakes location pretty. . the location would more suit people seeking total tranquillity, isolation or just a fishing venue.
David from Bristol (14 July 2017)

Lovely lodge in a tranquil setting. We had a lovely break at the beginning of july. I think it would be a lovely lodge to hide away in peak season but the lack of passing spaces and narrow lanes to access the site could be a problem when going out for the day in holiday traffic.
Mandy from Gloucester (08 July 2017)

The lodge was secluded and it was nice and quiet.
Susan from Cambridgeshire (01 July 2017)

Absolutely idyllic settings, so quiet and peaceful, full of wildlife and lots of exploring to do, even though it's quiet, bideford is only a 10min drive away for everything you may need from shops, chemists, pubs, takeaways, scenery etc..
Anna from Melksham (30 June 2017)

Our 5th visit to bulworthy forest lodges and as relaxing as always. We always end up returning as it's the perfect get way for us. It's quiet with beautiful, natural surroundings.
Kayleigh from Warwickshire (26 June 2017)

Fantastic holiday, amazing weather and would definitely come again. Quiet and beautiful, relaxing and refreshing, with good access to north devon coast.
Neil from Bury St Edmunds (24 June 2017)

Stayed in rosebay lodge, absolutely loved it. Lovely secluded location, great for peace and quiet. Lodge was really well equipped with everything you'd want. Nice bbq area to the front of the lodge with picnic bench. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area and friendly owners.
Rosie from Ipswich (19 June 2017)

A great place to get away from it all and relax in a beautiful setting.
Dawn from Chippenham (17 June 2017)

We stayed at oakapple lodge and it was just as lovely as when we stayed 13yrs ago! great location, luxurious accommodation and we caught several large carp and roach at the picturesque lakes.
Cathryn from Portsmouth (17 June 2017)

I had a wonderful birthday weekend, staying with my husband, son and daughter in law. We stayed friday to monday in the sycamore. We all enjoyed it very much and would definately stay again. It was peaceful, beautiful scenery, very well equipped lodge. It was truly relaxing. Next time we will try one with hot tub.
Stephen (12 June 2017)

A great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Nice , spacious accommodation.
Ann from Kent (10 June 2017)

Wish we had longer, beautiful surroundings and comfy lodge. Will be back!
Jessica from Cardiff (05 June 2017)

Lovely setting . fantastic to have a dishwasher, washing machine & tumble dryer however the chestnut lodge is in need of some tlc . . flooring is chipped in almost every room & bathroom is in need of updating . . lovely lodge but beginning to look tired.
Philip from Derby (03 June 2017)

Great getaway fo a quiet relaxing break could not fault the cabin shame about the hot tub cutting out twice and the shower not working very well but all said and done it was a great time
Sue from Berkshire (29 May 2017)

Magnificent place
Scott from Plymouth (27 May 2017)

Really nice place, in the the middle of picturesque woods. The lodge had everything we needed. Would defiantly stay here again.

Craig from Barry (12 May 2017)

What a wonderful lodge and so very clean.
Mark from Bryncoch Neath (07 May 2017)

Only criticism was when we arrived there was no reception ,and I had to walk around the site looking for someone
Ronald from Milton Keynes (05 May 2017)

Lovely comfortable lodge, beautiful surroundings. Had everything we needed.
Sarah from Newbridge (05 May 2017)

Fantastic really peaceful
Graham (05 May 2017)

Upon arriving weren't too sure where to go. Lodge in lovely setting and out got hot tub was not over looked at all. Everything was thought of inside inside in the kitchen, tv's in all but 1 room and living room and dining area. Only criticism would be that few things just need updating ie bathroom furniture and some kitchen bits. . overall nice weekend away and kids enjoyed it too. Good birthday celebrated.
Tina from Oxfordshire (01 May 2017)

Fantastic lodge with hot tub. Very peaceful location although not the easiest of places to find. Take towels with you for the hot tub use. Careful with sports cars as the roads are very uneven. We have booked already for next year! one gripe is the wifi signal. Poor at best.
Pauline from Portsmouth (01 May 2017)

Nice lodge, and reasonably well equipped with good size tv and dvds player. There are no facilities on site hence the slightly lower marks in that area. Very warm & cozy inside. Big negative was the wifi. The advert mentioned the lodge having wifi however you could only get wifi if you stood outside about 10ft away from the lodge. You were relying on a signal from a lodge 2 lodges away .. !. beautiful setting & oh so peaceful with just the bird song & owls hooting at night , oh, plus the odd lamb bleating in the field behind. Very good if you don't mind steep hills but it does warn of this & it was not a problem to us.
Keith from Yateley (29 April 2017)

Fishing lakes were a disappointment but could of been due to a lack of rain leading up to our visit, still did not ruin the week, beautiful location and very cosy accommodation
Daniel from Chelmsford (28 April 2017)

Lovely location quite difficult to find. Could do with freshening up but overall would highly recommend ( fishing was great fun)
Sarah from Gosport (28 April 2017)

Great holiday. Lovely couple getaway. The lanes are a challenge but, it is so worth it. Definitely staying again
Kelsey from Barry (28 April 2017)

Just what was needed a quite relaxing weekend away
Steven from Nuneaton (23 April 2017)

Excellent site and lodges. Brilliant location for exploring barnstaple, bideford and the surrounding areas, including the tarka trail. . lodge was spacious, clean and well equipped.
Mark from Portsmouth (21 April 2017)

Had a wonderful time with beautiful surroundings , the only problem we had was keeping the dog on the leash as the forest was full of pheasants and squirrels.
Judith from Bridport (21 April 2017)

We have found our new retreat, what a fantastic place to spend quality time for the family,. I cannot praise it enough. Everything is well thought out for all the lodges. We are looking to go back in september fingers crossed it will be free for when we want. Well done to the owners fantastic job done for us all to chill in the great surroundings.

Neil from Louth (08 April 2017)

Fantastic week at oakapple! we all loved our stay inc the dog. The hot tub was brilliant. The lodge was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Can't wait to return!
Amy from Helston (08 April 2017)

Wonderful! highly recommend.
Customer 106 from Wiltshire (07 April 2017)

I was very pleased with our stay at bulworthy forest lodges, with only few disappointments. Lovely surroundings, very peaceful and scenic. Also a fairly good location as it's central to barnstaple and bideford. In the cabin, it was very spacious with beautiful views of the surrounding area, on the other hand, unfortunately the oven didn't work, so we were forced to eat out every day and the shower pressure was appalling which made it extremely difficult especially when washing your hair. The only other thing I would've liked was to meet the owner before the leaving day, to be asked about our stay. To the area, the only downside is that there's no shop at all on site. Overall a great experience with nice surroundings. It made a nice break and a great family holiday.
Martine from Cardiff (07 April 2017)

Brilliant, very impressed
Jessica from Chichester (03 April 2017)

Excellent location fabulous lodge looking forward on going back
Lucy from Plymouth (25 March 2017)

Fantastic lodges, most relaxing place to stay,a must is the hot tub lodges. Will definately return.
Charlotte from Barnstaple (20 March 2017)

We have stayed at bulworthy forest lodges for the last 10 years, and we love it. Some of the furniture is a bit dated, but it is comfortable. The surroundings are idyllic, and there are so many many places to visit. It is a perfect place to relax.
Lyn from Birmingham (18 March 2017)

Excellent. Really enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. Beautiful surroundings and perfect lodge couldn't have asked for more. Have already booked our next break.
Carron from South Petherton (17 March 2017)

Lovely accommodation in beautiful surroundings. I really feel that they need to have a reception area to meet and greet.
Julie from Staines (13 March 2017)

Peaceful setting, with beautiful scenery.
Carrie (13 March 2017)

We will be returning
Gareth from Swansea (07 March 2017)

A lovely four night stay recently. The lodges were well equipped, very warm and cosy and spacious. The mattresses were a little on the hard side and a mattress topper would be favourable. However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return.
Carol from Devon. (07 March 2017)

Myself/partner and 4 children recently stayed in chestnut for the weekend! it was one of the best holidays we have had, the lodge was perfect and the surroundings were beautiful despite the weather! it was so peaceful and we had the added bonus of our own hot tub, was bliss! would definitely recommend to others and have booked for a week in the summer next year, we cannot wait!!
Zoe from Winchester (06 March 2017)

Another great stay at bulworthy. Very relaxing and peaceful. Stayed in larches, very clean as always. Lovely forest walks. Could do with some updating of sofa and mattresses but i'm being picky as i'm struggling to give any negatives.
Simon from Peacehaven (06 January 2017)

This was our 10 th year and it was lovely as always a few minor things that need attention.beds need updating as do the sofas redecorating all round a bit of l.t.c..plus we did have mice on our last morning which was a disappointment as there is anti vermin plugs.
Peter from Redhill Surrey (06 January 2017)

We stayed in bluebell it was such a lovely places to the views are beautiful the hot tub was lovely the size of the place was big if you like the quiet peaceful time this is your place, even the owners came out everyday to do the hot tub lovely ppl to chat to, please go and experience this place your wanna go back time again
Lucy from Bristol (30 December 2016)

A wonder place to unwind and relax in a beautiful and peaceful countryside location.
Sandra from Worcester (30 December 2016)

Amazing.
Hannah (30 December 2016)

A lovely time spent in a quiet, well equipped, cosy, clean and warm lodge with all the kitchen utensils you'll need. Great location for barbecue :), walking, running, fishing (the three lakes has a lot of fish and you don't need to be professional to catch one), etc. Owners were so helpful and friendly. Would recommend. We will definitely going back :)
Zlatko (27 December 2016)

Peaceful holiday, the acorn lodge was right at the end of the road so no passing vehicles. Spa bath was a nice touch, especially when all we have at home is a shower. The beds were comfortable bar one, which was a little springy but not too much in a way that it bothered us. having the use of a washing machine whilst there was great too, it meant we didn't have a shed loads of washing to do on our return, we did have a slight issue with the tumble dryer stopping on us during it's 2nd use but that was the night before we left so wasn't an issue. . the only real down fall was that area's of the site are quite steep in places, the was mainly on the forest walk so we didn't really take the dogs around there as we all have mobility issues and generally need the flat, but that aside the small part that we did walk along was lovely, and can imagine the whole walk is great, especially in the summer months where wildlife spotting would be at it's greatest. . the sofa is starting to show it's a age and could do with renewing, but now with new owner's this may happen. the whole lodge has laminated flooring in the living area's and tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, the was great to keep clean, especially when we had 2 dogs, just swept away, a vacuum was supplied if needed. . beds were made up for arrival, and also 2 towels per guest were supplied which was a nice surprise too. the owner's were very nice, allowed us an early check-in and late check out as we live within 2 hrs or so of the site. this meant we got to spend the majority of saturday down and around bideford before heading home. . the local area is great - your central to explore north devon. we didn't venture as further a field as we normally would this time, and didn't really do tourist attractions. We did visit instow beach daily for our dogs to have a good run, this would take us about 10 - 15 mins. instow beach is clean and mainly flat with some sand dunes to explore too. Barnstaple is worth a trip, nice town with good shops, and also the local pannier market and butcher's row (where you can get good ol' proper clotted cream). if fish & chips are your thing, we suggest visiting trawlers in mill street, bideford town centre. excellent value for money and very generous portion sizes. There is atalantic village just outside bideford, here you'll find outlet shopping, asda and atalantis adventure park for the kids.
Nicola from Newport (08 October 2016)

A wonderful stay away from the normal hustle and bustle of day to day life. The lodge was fully equipped a real home from home, wonderful hot tub and a very quiet area. Need a car to make the most of your stay in the surrounding area but absolute bliss when returning from a day out. Well worth the visit and we will return.
Laura from Wales (08 October 2016)

Was good value for money excellent base for exploring north devon
Elizabeth from Leigh (01 October 2016)

The lodge was well equipped.very quite surroundings just what you need to relax.we took our dog millie so we really enjoyed the local dog friendly beaches at instow and westwood hoe.we would recommend these lodges to anyone who needs a nice relaxing break.
Lorraine from Hednesford (24 September 2016)

Excellent location. So peaceful and relaxing. Acorn lodge had all the mod cons but a phone signal or wifi would be another plus if it had it.
Roy from Woking (24 September 2016)

Peaceful and serene setting. Perfect escape from hectic daily life.
Gill from Southampton (10 September 2016)

Beautiful lodges in a lovely surrounding but very steep hills to get to the lodges. Great value for money.
Jessica (10 September 2016)

Beautiful remote location, amazing lodges and helpful staff on hand if there are any problems. . I would certainly recommend it and look forwards to returning.
Ian from I Would Certainly Recommend It And Look Forwards T (03 September 2016)

Excellent location, accommodation is homely, mattress could do with updating, and bigger beds. Lovely surroundings, love sitting on the veranda in the evenings. . tesco is not too far away, and it's a good base to go and explore such a lovely part of devon.
Michelle from Lovely Surroundings, Love Sitting On The Veranda I (03 September 2016)

Excellent fishing!
Edward from Meols, Wirral (03 September 2016)

A gorgeous setting but not very accessible and the cabin needed lots of tlc and updating
Kerry from Leeds (27 August 2016)

Brilliant :)
Julie (13 August 2016)

Wonderful idyllic surroundings whilst in a lodge equipped with everything you need. the hot tub was amazing too and my children couldn't get enough of it. Clean living areas, helpfulness of liz , mark and their children was second to none. Would definitely recommend thelse lodges.
Nathan from Desborough (13 August 2016)

The lodge was situated in a lovely area, unfortunately there was nothing on site or near by ie shop etc..there is no reception office to meet you on arrival and the roads to the lodge are very narrow (1 car width) and muddy. If there was facilities on site it would be a great place to come .
Karen from Northamptonshire (30 July 2016)

We stayed at bullworthy forest lodges with our 4 children aged between 8 and 11 at the end of july 2016. what a fantastic place! the lodges are fabulous and the children loved the freedom of being outdoors and in the forest, the lodge hot tub was also a big hit with everyone. the kid thoroughly enjoyed fishing on the lake just outside our lodge. happy kids, happy days!. . there is not much phone signal, 2/3/4g or wifi at these lodges but that was part of the appeal for us and we all adjusted quickly to not having the answer to everything at the touch of a button. . you feel like you are miles from anywhere in an oasis of calm in the forest but there is a tesco store only 3 miles away so you are not really that far from anywhere. we used this as a base to go surfing and body boarding but found ourselves spending much more time at the lodge that the initial plan had been when we booked it. . lovely owners who take pride in their business. very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Sarah from Essex (30 July 2016)

Bulworthy forest lodges are so secluded and peaceful, a real get away from it all break. The setting in a wooded valley is glorious and perfect for evening strolls with the kids (with the bonus of no wi-fi to distract them). even though we had rain most days while we were there it was actually really lovely sitting in the hot tub on the covered verandah listening to the soft patter of rain through the leaves. We still managed to barbecue most evenings. If we'd been by the coast it would have been a bit bleak but somehow in amongst all the greenery it really didn't seem to matter. Great base for discovering north devon. Visis to ilfracoombe and clovelley and hiring bikes to do part of the tarka trail were real highlights to our week.
Laura from Bury St Edmunds (30 July 2016)

Lodge was very comfortable, very well kept and had everything we needed for our break. Beautiful, peaceful location. Bliss! just what me and my two children needed. Already looking to return in october. Highly recommended.
Cheryl from Axminster (23 July 2016)

Beautiful place
Sian from Walsall (19 July 2016)

Very disappointed, no problem with lodge it had everything you needed. We were unhappy with where it was, out in the middle of nowhere. We did not like the fact there was nothing at all on the site, when I brought this up was told should have done your homework. There was no pub near by nothing, even when the sun shone it was so closed in with trees you did not feel it. In hind sight would have preferred to spend the money on a decent caravan on a site closer to amenities.
Brian from Dunstable (16 July 2016)

Beautiful surroundings and very peaceful and relaxing. However, we found it very dark inside the lodge due to too many trees blocking the sunlight. Also the furniture was very dated and sofa and double bed was nowhere near big enough for taller people! so could do with a few improvements in those areas. Otherwise everything else we needed was available and we found it lovely and clean and tidy.
Penny from Ashford (16 July 2016)

Wonderful setting and great first impression. We stayed in chester lodge and the cleanliness was fantastic. Lots of room inside and kitchen was well equipped. Beds were comfy although a thinner duvet for summer would of helped. The view was lovely to wake up too. Hot tub was a bonus. Fishing is a must some lovely carp to be found. Very relaxing getaway and a bonus with no internet. would definitely recommend and will definitely book to stay again.
Derek from Birmingham (16 July 2016)

Second visit to bulworthy and not disappointed, love the peaceful surroundings, no phone signal and very good fishing. There seemed to be a change in the size of fish this year but that may be due to the way we were fishing, although we did not see the bigger carp on the surface. cannot comment on helpfulness of staff as we did not see anyone, one phone call made by us on the way down was the only contact that was made. I suppose this could be seen a positive as we did have to complain about anything!
Kevin from Suffolk (09 July 2016)

Great place, fab lodge. quiet setting and really away from it all but also easy to get to all the towns and places you want to visit.
Susan from Surrey (09 July 2016)

The whole area on site was let down by the litter and dog mess and the lakes are scruffy and not looked after, not a good place to go fishing.
Robert from Blyth Northumberland (09 July 2016)

Very nice location, peaceful and a great spot for fishing and wildlife spotting. . the local roads are very poor and narrow around this area and could put some people off so should be mentioned in the description. Contact details were also incorrect.
James from Dunfermline (09 July 2016)

Fantastic place and can't wait to come back . rest and perfect relaxation away from it all guarantee.
Jane from Bristol (08 July 2016)

The forest setting was lovely and so peaceful. Only saw one lady walking her dog. If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you. It says lakes, i'd say ponds but pleasant to walk round.
Jane from Leamington Spa (02 July 2016)
