A good short break offering beautiful surroundings and friendly helpful staff. . well organised and attentive during our stay. . neighbouring lodge noisy and loud late into the night was our only negative.
Karen from West Malling (20 August 2018)

Enjoyed our stay and the lodge was very clean and spacious. The setting and walks were enjoyed by us all and would recommend to friends and family.
Jennifer (13 August 2018)

We rented the 5 bedroom accommodation. Long road, if you can call it that, to the complex is unmade and 8 miles an hour is a max speed, it definitely does not need the speed bumps. The complex hub is very small, as are all the facilities. Having said that, the accommodation makes up for it. Nice little touches at every turn and big enough to house 2 three year-olds, 2 five year-olds and 6 adults without compromising (or arguing). pity the tree house part was not as well thought out, with the rope (that doesn't hold the bed up) in line of sight between the tv and the bed and a distinct lack of hooks and makeup mirror. Only one bed side table and a fire that is for effect only. Hot tub well looked after and definitely used. Even with these drawbacks, would we go again? a resounding yes from everyone!
Jane from Mk (13 August 2018)

Great 3 night stay. The lodge was lovely and set out at a nice distance from neighbouring one’s. Would definitely book again .
Justin from Kent (30 July 2018)

Blackwood forest was a wonderful location for a family group of 9 - we hired a golden oak cabin with tree house. everything was set up beautifully for our arrival - even the table set for dinner. the facilities were really good and there was plenty of crockery and cutlery for all of us. the staff were very helpful and relaxed and the activities were enjoyed by adults and children. hiring bikes enabled everyone to explore the forest and then return to a drink on the balcony before a dip on the hot tub and a bbq. perfect dappled shade for a hot week.
Frances from Bath (13 July 2018)

Cabin was absolutely filthy had to clean it ourselves disgusting.the track to to cabin is too bumpy got a puncher in our car. I’ve up loaded a photo of my sons knee after he crawled on floor
Wayne (13 July 2018)

We had a fantastic week @blackwoodforest. The lodge was very comfortable and the hot tub was very relaxing, so much so we brought one on the way home.
Warren (15 June 2018)

Loverly setting in the woods, a little disappointed with being overlooked by our neighbour . when in the hot tub. . as the site is open to the public there was lots of dog mess around the site.
Robert (30 April 2018)

Superb place for families and so dog friendly. wi-fi not brilliant so teenagers not so happy but they survived! accommodation lovely. . . food and service at the restaurant a1!
Sarah from Southampton (30 April 2018)

A very enjoyable, peaceful and laidback short break during february half term. Accommodation was comfortable, spacious and warm. The hot tub was a treat after rainy cycling, walking and archery! cabins feel private enough due to the site layout and space between them. We looked out onto clear forest land and felt nice and secluded. Enjoyable time away from overcrowded suburbia!

One of our group found going for a run impossible cos of the very wet/boggy tracks taking the teepee thing down left it very muddy.for us tho, the signage when starting to find a walking route and then staying on such a route was very difficult, the signage is very bad.

Excellent lodge close to the retreat and location close to little villages with good pubs all serving excellent food. Lodge had everything you need to be a home from home. The hot tub was great way to relax. Thoroughly recommend the holiday.

The only problem we had was we were unable to read any of the dials on the oven as they had over time been wiped off. The staff were very prompt on coming up to show us how to start the oven. Wifi very slow on loading manuals so it maybe useful to have them either on the tv or in paper copy for guests to read.

The cabins were beautiful and fitted out well. We were more isolated than we anticipated which was a huge downside to the holiday.

Excellent place had a great time. Only one suggestion maybe some sort of lighting outside at night along paths. Really enjoyed it.

John from Worlingworth (29 September 2017)

A lovely nice, quiet and chilled weekend. Problems with wifi all weekend what but can’t be helped because of location. Staff were brilliant in trying to sort it. Would have like a dvd player as we wanted a relaxed and lazy chick flick (group of 8 ladies) evening. Overall brilliant weekend though.
Sherrie from Basingstoke (18 September 2017)

Sherrie from Basingstoke (18 September 2017)

I loved staying in the log cabin and the staff were very helpful. I do feel that it would be nice to have more on site than just the one hub, you obviously have to drive all the way out and in to get provisions. the hub only hold a limited stock. my one complaint would be the road in and out is dreadful and although the cabins are in the woods, I think the road should be tarmac. we stayed in the cabin quite a bit as we were worried about our tyres keep driving in and out, we only have a small car not a 4 x4 range rover.
Sharon from Byfleet (15 September 2017)

Day of our trip. No other message from staff, nothing highlighting the issue. After day travelling it is lovely having burning eyes thanks to the chlorine. . expensive non functional wifi. Paid £30 for wifi but it would only connect on the 8th attempt if ever. Reported to staff, staff uninterested and no resolution or fix offered. . . food - being on holiday we didn't want to cook so we ordered in. On both occasions things were forgotten so had to go to the main centre to pick them up. Which renders the whole deliver in a bit pointless and the delivery charge a joke. The quality of cooking was questionable as the chicken wings were warm but effectively raw and the chips could only be described as "post pub kebab shop chips" soggy and under cooked. . the master bed mattress was tired and needed replacing. The springs in the centre had gone so a comfortable nights sleep wasn't going to happen as constantly slanted towards the middle. After the customer service reaction to the wifi we didn't bother reporting the bed as the response was likely to be "meh" accompanied with a shrug. . overall very overpriced. Beautiful location and accomodation. But so many issues not worth it.
Toby from Horsham (14 August 2017)

It was a great long weekend and really good walks for the dogs. They even provided dog treats on arrival which was a nice touch. The only downfalls really was 1 the kitchen was well equipped apart from a frying pan or saucepan. 2 there is limited channels unless you pay extra and no dvd player so you are forced to either pay the extra or watch generic channels. But overall a nice holiday get away.
Nicola from Andover (07 August 2017)

Loved our holiday from beginning to end. beautiful and peaceful location. lovely lodge with hot tub which was checked every morning. cant wait to book again.
Lisa from Abingdon (04 August 2017)

Had a great week surrounding excellent and staff brilliant. Accomadation above expectations
Graham from Upminster Essex (04 August 2017)

Great relaxing mid week break
Justine (04 August 2017)

Lovely place and great staff. We have been going for several years and love everything about blackwood.
Helen (31 July 2017)

Before visiting blackwood forest I just assumed it would be a glorrified centre parcs. Im very happy to say I couldnt have been more wrong! the cabins are beautiful, spacious and clean, the nieghbouring cabins are a decent distance away and the beds are really comfortable. My family and I could not have had a more relaxing experience. The hot tub is highly recommended:) the staff were amazing and really helpful. Im not one for holidays but after a week, my wife and I are already looking to get another booking in for later this year.
Simon from Dartford (28 July 2017)

Lovely cabins not too close together, fantastic hot tub which was checked every day
Gwen from Northampton (21 July 2017)

Perfect escape very relaxing having the hot tub and great walks to enjoy, really friendly helpful staff
Stephen from Worthing (14 July 2017)

We had such a great holiday. The cabin was luxurious, spotlessly clean and spacious. The film package and wifi was great too.
Heather from Glasgow (14 July 2017)

Limited things to do, food was poor and expensive, entertainment package total rip off, the lodge could have been cleaner.
Stuart (10 July 2017)

This was the ideal place for our week break with our two dogs. The onsite location was fabulous with a vast area of 'safe' countryside and forest walks allowign them to roam and explore off the lead. It was also a good base location from which to explore the surrounding area ,we did day trips to the isle of wight, the chalk horse and others. The daily maintenance of hte staff to facilities and cabins on site was noticeable and welcome. We were maybe lucky with a good weather ,a hot sunny week to top it off.
Martin from London (07 July 2017)

Cabin was lovely. The only issue I had was that the smell of wet dog was overwhelming. There was also quite a lot of dog hair left around the cabin and as a pet free family we found this quite annoying. Maybe there should be a few cabins that are pet free
Kerry from Newcastle Upon Tyne (07 July 2017)

Good holiday, slightly overlooked in this lodge, would go for a golden oak 1 next time
Charlotte (30 June 2017)

Lovely setting and friendly staff but reception seemed rather disorganised. The fridge in our 6 person lodge was too small for 6 people. We were told towels were not included (which seemed ridiculous given the price we were paying) so we all packed towels. Then they were provided after all! beautiful surroundings though and highly recommend a ranger walk.
Eleanor (19 June 2017)

Excellent location . beautiful accommodation and surroundings . and helpful staff. Will definently be back
Anna from Beautiful Accommodation And Surroundings (05 June 2017)

Lovely place would definitely go again!
Marie from Stevenage (26 May 2017)

The staff member who set us up with the geocaching did not know how the gps device worked and we were left to work it out on our own
Thomas from Farnborough (22 May 2017)

A really lovely break. The lodge was comfortable and clean, the hot tub was lovely, even in the rain! we managed to get some good walks in between showers, and the cream tea was a nice treat. I can wholeheartedly recommend the bacon sandwich!!. . we have been twice now and we will be returning.
Clare from Kent (19 May 2017)

Had a great time, weather was good lovely surroundings, cycle hire on site
Sarah from Littlehampton (15 May 2017)

Enjoyed it but lodge for 10 not big enough
Paul (08 May 2017)

Fantastic lodge and beautiful surroundings. We didn't get in lodge till late because waiting for cleaners. That is the only thing that let holiday down was cleanliness, for the money I paid I expect it to be cleaned to a high standard but it wasn't. I had to clean several kitchen items and the bath before use, also old rose petals all over bedroom and also found food wrappers behind cushions on sofa. Such a shame because such a beautiful place. Attention to detail is important when it comes to cleaning. That aside I would recommend this place as I loved it.
Kerrie from Warwick (05 May 2017)

We booked this for my father's 86th birthday with other family members. When we arrived the lodge was freezing cold,so cold that none of us could take our coats off. I was worried about my dad because he feels the cold. There was no instant heat apart from turning on the hobs. The heating was all underfloor and it took about 10 hours to heat the farthest bedroom. I was so worried about how dad would be during the night that I went to reception. The staff were very helpful and let us have a small fan heater for him but we should not have had to endure the hours of freezing cold that we did. It totally clouded our judgement of the place. I in fact caught a cold but feeling so chilled on the first night might have just been a red herring for this! we all felt that the heating should have been on for us very, very disappointed because this was not a cheap property. We tried it instead of center parcs but no comparison .
Anthony from Brighstone (01 May 2017)

Great! . . shop should sell baby food/milk!
Philip from Hook (01 May 2017)

We had the most fantastic time. I do think that it is overpriced and this would be the only reason we would not return for a weeks family holiday.
Susie (01 May 2017)

Standard of accommodation was very good, would definitely go back.
Barry from Worcester Park (10 April 2017)

Disappointed that activities advertised were not available, lodges were not very clean especially under furniture and beds, also crockery was not that clean. bin in kitchen was left full from previous occupants and item of clothing left in bedroom. . some restaurant staff were unhelpful and unfamiliar with how to process own discount vouchers which were in the welcome pack. Shower in en-suite kept going cold.
Richard from Cornwall (17 March 2017)

Excellent weekend, loved the lodge and hot tub. . better dining and bar facilities would be the only thing I would change.
Adam from Chelmsford (13 March 2017)

Was idyllic, was there for four nights with my wife, 3 sons aged 5, 3 and 18months and our dog, was nice to relax and unwind in the hot tub at night after long walks round the forrest and the lodges are nicely spaced out from other lodges, accommodation was clean tidy and spacious, kinda felt like home. Location was great too
Adam from Cheshire (24 February 2017)

A really lovely place to chill and walk dogs,we made our own entertainment as there was 5 of us,if we didn't have a hot tub it wouldn't of been the same.a place to get away from everything and relax.
Lisa from Havant (06 February 2017)

Could not turn off audio description on tv, disappointed that wifi was not included in the total cost and was overpriced to buy, dimly light outside in hot tub area, no towels provided apart from bath mats, cups were dirty and no tea or coffee sachets provided
Alice from Basingstoke (16 January 2017)

Lovely place, I didn't know I could relax that much. Looks exactly like it is in the brochure.
Andrew from Leamington (09 January 2017)

I didn't know what to expect but it was amazing & magical. A perfect way to celebrate christmas & see in the new year.
Tanya from Kent (02 January 2017)

Overall the holiday was wonderful. The lodge was very clean and the facilities were very nice. Lovely space to relax in. The hot tub was kept clean and checked regularly. My only reserve is that the forest is surrounded by roads so when you are walking I the forest it's a bit of a disturbance. Not that it is the fault of anyone at all. I think we were just looking for something a bit more remote. I think the cabins were a bit close together but again that is just personal preference. not to say we wouldn't come again. It was very pleasant and very well facilitated. Many thanks
Alex from Brighton (07 October 2016)

Lovely holiday, very relaxing, accommodation was fab and had everything we needed.
Ismay (19 September 2016)

Lovely holiday very relaxing
Elizabeth (09 September 2016)

It was a great way to spend rare quality time with the family all together. Our cabin, a golden oak with a treehouse was spacious and beautifully positioned, giving us unspoilt views of the forest and privacy when we used the hot tub.... and we used it a lot! even in the rain. We chose the worst weekend in august this year for weather, but it didn't spoil our break we had great fun and so did our two dogs who came home shattered from the experience.
Sandy from Bexhill On Sea (22 August 2016)

Fantastic
Julie (01 August 2016)

Lovely location and very attentive staff.

Anna from Bicester, Oxfordshire (04 July 2016)

An excellent weekend away. great surroundings and lovely lodge.
Rick from Windsor (20 June 2016)

Overall our stay was a nice break . but there was a few hiccups throughout our stay . firstly when we arrived in the cabin . (dog friendly one) there was dog hairs all over my daughter bed cover and the sofa . I cleaned them off myself as didn't like to get there and moan straight away but even though I have dogs I do not have dog hair over my furniture . also first night ordered food sent us the wrong order then 2nd day in the retreat got our order wrong and the 3rd day in retreat got our order wrong . it wasn't like they were overalls busy . I also think for the quality of food it is extremely expensive . the hottub was not working on arrival and by time they fixed it and it heated up we couldn't use it till the next day . there was no fire guard in the cabin so we lit the log burner wen youngest was asleep . I expressed to my husband that thought it was bad how they were not in the cabins and we looked around the cabin for it . later that night fire had gone out my 4 year old git old and accidentally fell on it and it badly burnt her arm I rang emergency number at the retreat and lady was nice and brought me out sudocream abd calpol and asked for me to pay for it in morning at the retreat . in mornjng I expressed my concerns to lady at the retreat how it's bad there are no fire guards she stated u only have to ask and u can have one for free . but anywhere had I seen stated u can get a fire guard . otherwise I would of which I told her . she said well then u shouldn't have lit the fire if you thought it was unsafe (rude and not helpful ) I expressed how the lodge had no sky to but u offered it to me when arrived but perhaps that was because that was costing us a extra 45 £ whereas the fire guard would have been for free . my husband told the lady fire guards should be in cabins with fires or if not the ones with children and u no there are gonna be children by booking form she said you can't expect them to buy foreheads for all the cabins . the money they charge surely it's health and safety . anyways it's been about 5-6 weeks and my daughter arm is now scarred . so I wouldn't recommend it there . my kids did enjoy it don't get me wrong but it not worth the money they charge .
Lucy from Hampshire (20 May 2016)

Brilliant location and accommodation only problem for us was that as we catered for ourselves because of the remoteness we felt the kitchen was not the best the dishwasher never washed anything properly even using finish tabs and a full size freezer is definitely needed. One day when cooking breakfast half the kitchen and hot tub lost electricity due to tripping out ., having said this we had a fantastic time .
Jane from Eastbourne (16 May 2016)

It was an amazing, relaxing forest getaway! although we never explored any of the workshops because we were enjoying the hot tub / accommodation and the beautiful scenery around us!
Customer 77 (16 May 2016)

Had a wonderful break at blackwood forest. Accommodation very comfortable with good facilities. Loved the setting of the tree house we stayed at. Had afternoon tea at the tea house, most enjoyable. Would certainly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to go again.
Susan from Upminster (09 May 2016)

Fantastic break.
Christopher from Rye (06 May 2016)

The track to the cabin was awful full of holes and at night time dangerous
Margaret from Matlock, Derbyshire (25 March 2016)

We loved our holiday here - a great place to relax and chill out in gorgeous surroundings. Few small niggles - all tea towels had holes in, and some dusty areas - otherwise was perfect. If small changes were made I think it would have been 10/10
Emma from Kent (25 March 2016)

Absolutely loved it had a brilliant time.

Beautiful idealic break away, will be booking again for next year!
Jenni from Ongar Essex (08 January 2016)

Mostly positive however the cabin wasn't cleaned very well. Floor was very dirty.
Ricky (04 January 2016)

Would definitely recommend it for a relaxing holiday. Christmas in the forest was lovely. We will be going again christmas 2017.
Rebecca from Purton (28 December 2015)

All the staff were brilliant especially when we didn't know how to use the new hot plates they had put in they were very quick to come out and sort it out and show us how to use it
Jill from Southampton (04 December 2015)

Wonderful peaceful relaxing break
Sarah from Billingshurst Sussex (02 November 2015)

The site was beautiful.. the staff were friendly and helpful.. but broken bikes for hire, internet wasn't great- took ages to come on after paying..
Confirmed Holidaymaker (04 September 2015)

Check in was slow with too few staff. very expensive for 3 nights. Cheeky to ask for £10 per night wifi & £30 for movie pack in addition. Hot tubs well maintained. No little extras such as starter pack of wood for burner, fruit or basic provisions. Shower plug not maintained therefore stood in puddle which leaked out across bathroom.
Michelle from Liverpool (31 August 2015)

Really enjoyed it.
Roger from Line (31 August 2015)

Very good, we went at bank hol weekend so was a bit more expensive but I think it was worth it for our 2 year anniversary :-) have booked again for end of feb :-) lovely
Jennifer from Southampton (31 August 2015)

An ideal holiday if you have dogs, great walks and not bothered by anybody. The lodge itself was excellent tidy clean and modern. Hot tub was cleaned every morning and made our stay. Will certainly go back
Keith from Bognor (14 August 2015)

Our lodge (11) was amazing and we were so happy with the fit out quality. It would have been nice if there were some more activities to do on site. We will definitely come again though. Friends I recommended are staying with you this weekend!
Kim from Chelmsford (10 August 2015)

The accommodation and location were fantastic, staff helpful and welcoming. Only niggle would be the night vision forest walk a waste of time and money, a dozen people fumbling around in the woods scared even the foxes away so we didn't see a thing all night, a better idea would be a hide and let the animals come to you. The only other irritation were the sofas in the accommodation one of them needs replacing but i'm being picky, otherwise a great restful short break.
Kev from Wallington (07 August 2015)

Had a fantastic time and we will definitely be returning!
Mary from Kent (03 August 2015)

Worth it at the discounted price at best. Not worth the full price.
Allison from Crawley (27 July 2015)

Great holiday in great location ideal for both legoland and peppa pig world and relax afterwards in the hot tub !
Jason from Glasgow (10 July 2015)

The cabin was very clean very well stocked with all things we needed to make a good holiday, the site was very near other places we wanted to visit and our dogs loved the forest areas. the weather was very good so that make it perfect
Vivien from Burton Latimer Northamptonshire (26 June 2015)

A luxury lodge but at the same time robust against 2 and 3 yr olds! woodland setting is beautiful great for exploring with little ones. Staff were very pleasant and quick to remedy any problems ( we lost internet connection) they fixed immediately. A washing machine would be useful to have especially when holidaying with little ones.
Laura from Meopham Kent (26 June 2015)

A lovely place to use as a base with just enough activities on site for toddlers. Forest retreat good was lovely and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Lodge was amazing, perfect condition. If you are looking for somewhere to stay with lots of activities this is not the place but if you are looking for a home from home to use as a base then this is definitely it! particularly good location for peppa pig world!!
Naomi from Northamptonshire (22 June 2015)

Third time at blackwood forest. Really easy from london with two small children. Love the hot tub and the setting generally. Kitchen has all you need to self cater for a few days. Beds are comfortable. Easy walks for kids and little swing / slide area is a great hit with them too.

I loved blackwood forest and have recommened this holiday to all my friends and family. We spent 4 days and had the time of our lives. The lodges were morden and clean and the staff came and showed us how to work everything on the first night. The hot tub was a nice feature and was checked and cleaned if needed daily. The location was lovely and I can't wait to book my next holiday.
Marc (12 January 2015)

Very private and peaceful.
Nick from Brighton (12 January 2015)

The water in the hot tub did not look very clean and the water was not checked while we were there, there were cigarette butts on the decking (in the corner by hot tub, the patio door windows dirty.

It was lovely apart from the dog-ends in the barbecue and the greasy grill pan. Some disorganisation about charges for activities and services. Archery and night vision very good.

Fantastic holiday - this was our second trip to blackwood and just as good as the first time! (once in feb 14 and again in nov 14) we wanted to leave early but the retreat wasn't due to open until 830 (we got there at 8) but they let me in to pay anyway..there was then a problem with the till that it wouldn't load my bill so they let me leave as they knew we wanted to head back (hubby had man flu) and then they rang me later on to take payment over the phone! fantastic staff all week! some well earnt r&r!

Dissapointed that you have to pay extra for wifi in the lodges. In this day & age it should be included. hense to say we didn't bother

Fantastic getaway, golden oak lodge was amazing everything you need, all comfortable and clean. Hot tub was brill and cleaned every day, staff were friendly and helpful, would definitely return,in fact planning our next visit already !
Theresa from Wiltshire (25 August 2014)

The only thing we were disappointed with was the twilight walk we were charged £30 to hear about six trees, and it was cut short because of rain and no refund or a coffee offered which would have been a nice gesture .

A dream holiday with our little ones - we're desperate to come back and hoping to visit again over christmas - availability permitting!!
Natalie (08 August 2014)

We loved our visit to blackwood forest. The lodge and hot tub were fantastic, and the staff were all very helpful. the view from the lovely picture window at night reminded us of something out of a fairy tale when all the lodges were lit up, very magical. Our only suggestions for improvement would be for a play area for older children and for some form of laundry facility on site. we combined our stay with a few days in london so would have appreciated access to a washing machine.

We had such amazing weekend. Would def come back!
Gemma from Ripley, Surrey (30 June 2014)

Brilliant surroundings and helpful staff. Relaxing and peaceful holiday. Lots of vehicle tracks on paths making the resulting ridges difficult to manoeuvre on cycles. Shop was good but didn't stock the things we wanted to eat, so didn't buy much. Had to go to local supermarket.

Lovely location and very friendly staff, but very expensive for what you get. No problems while we were there and we really enjoyed it. However, on a couple of occasions I was dealt with by staff who were being trained and didn't know the answer. One day I had ordered croissants and bread for the morning and the croissants weren't there ("sorry, I didn't see them on the order form" - there were only 2 items on the form!) and on another I ordered 3 croissants and when I got back to the lodge there were only 2 (i couldn't be bothered to complain). if I was at a low cost campsite with cabins I wouldn't have minded, but for the amount I paid i'd expect a bit more "luxury, not just in accommodation, but in service as well. Basically, for a nice wooden cabin and a small shop and café, the cost for 4 nights is too much.

Whilst the location and surroundings were idyllic, we found the lodges quite close to one another in the setting, meaning little privacy whilst on the lodge veranda and in the hot tub area, and we also had a large rowdy party on one side which encroached on our peace and quiet and spoilt the experience slightly. We were also disappointed to discover that there was an additional charge for extra towels or toilet roll if needed which when you are paying such a high price for the holiday itself seemed unbelievably stingy.

Had fabulous time. Cabin clean and warm. Hot tub very well maintained. It is very pricey given it's completely self catering but it did feel like money well spent to us for the relaxing time (even with two small children!), peaceful, beautiful location.
