Jo from Seaford (17 September 2016)

Clean and spacious, location was very quiet
Mary from London (12 August 2016)

The cottage itself was ideal, clean and tidy. For us the location wasnt right, out on its own with nothing to do without driving. nothing wrong with it but too quiet for us!
Jonathan (12 August 2016)

Kevin from Newhaven, East Sussex (13 May 2016)

We wanted a quiet break, and that was certainly what we had, we loved it, peace & quiet, but superb accommodation, everything you could wish for and lovely and clean when we arrived, and the owners and their family were lovely, we will definately go back!!!!
Lorraine from Gloucestershire (26 March 2016)

Excellent from beginning to end .
Nigel from Bury St Edmunds (19 March 2016)

Excellent location. Very very clean. Sauna was working perfect, had a small problem one night but staff came and sorted it. Happy about the rooms and all the facilities will defiantly stay gain or recommend to anyone.
Vidula from London (14 March 2016)

Very basic, nothing around for miles. Was very disappointed with the accommodation. Very dated, in need of a refresh. There was a strong smell of damp. . the 2 star ratings are mainly for the landlord and landlady of the black lion pub, the were brilliant with making us feel very welcome and providing some much needed entertainment.
Emily (07 March 2016)

Location isn't the best nothing on site !! 10 min drive to nearest shop takeaway . not a place for children no place for them to play. No phone signal or wifi . cottage is lovley big and warm which was lucky in february staff were friendly and informative x
Helen from Swansea (08 February 2016)

My wife and I wanted a peaceful break and this was absolutely perfect for this. The accommodation is warm, comfortable and well decorated and furnished. Reclining sofa, comfortable bed and good tv/dvd player. Remote and peaceful for that chilled break.
Paul from Southampton (15 January 2016)

Even though we got lost getting there (our grandchildren live 20mins away) we were welcomed warmly by staff and felt as though we had chosen well
Frances from Mamchester (11 January 2016)

Nice surroundings, accommodation was ok,but we had to clean work surfaces cutlery and plates before use, very cold at night with only small electric wall heaters for heat, which did not give out much heat, but drained electric coin meter we have stayed in better accommodation and would not stay here again
Simon (11 January 2016)

Lovely cottage in a lovely location, shame about the weather but would definitely visit again.
David from Swansea (14 December 2015)

Avalon cottages is set out in the countryside and when we went in november really quiet which was surprisingly refreshing. My wife and I are twitchers and there's plenty of bird life in the woods and scrub, our highlight here over the 4 days was the spotted woodpecker and a very obliging coal tit lots of photos taken.
Kevin from Peacehaven (27 November 2015)

We are talking about a weekend break in november. We arrived just as the light was fading but were still able to marvel at the wonderful view. The welcome was really good and we were shown to our cottage. All I can say is I would of been happy to stay for months. The sauna was amazing, to come back home after a days sightseeing and relax nothing quite like it. Absolutley first class and we will be back. Just remember to take some £1 coins for the meter although it doesnt use it as quick as I thought it might
Richard from Hinckley (16 November 2015)

A well appointed lodge. very comfortable. quiet, peaceful and very rural. staff could not have been more helpful. we will book here again next year.
Irene from Southampton (14 November 2015)

We had an amazing time and betty and her family were so informative and lovely
Leesa from Ramsbottom (31 October 2015)

Would recommend to anyone
Susan from Swansea (19 October 2015)

We booked this as a 4 day break in october and we were pleasantly surprised about the quality of the cottages for the price we paid. Based in a stunning area of wales, the cottage had everything we needed as well as a sauna. We were comfortable throughout our stay and fully relaxed by the end. Would highly recommend and return here in the future.
Peter from Leeds (16 October 2015)

Excellent comfortable base to tour south and west wales ,very rural and very peaceful well equiped cottage
Michael from Chelmondiston (25 September 2015)

Lovely place peace and quite, cottage was lovely a home from home .
Wendy (19 September 2015)

Although we had an lovely stay overall, it was mostly due to the attractions in the surrounding area. It wasn't mentioned that there was no internet or phone signal before we got there and this caused various problems when trying to plan a day out. One of the reasons that we had booked this cottage was for the sauna which would have been a nice treat except for the fact that it didn't work! when we tried to get hold of someone from reception multiple times but there wasn't any response. They leave phone numbers on the door to contact a member of staff but these are useless without signal. The car parking space was not ideal either, luckily for us we'd booked for a time outside the summer holidays but I can't imagine the chaos trying to fit more than two cars in that area. One positive thing that I can say is that it was fairly easy to find and a peaceful spot. We won't be returning though!
Emily from Shrewsbury (11 September 2015)

Relaxing, quiet and comfortable for a short break
Kenneth from Coventry (07 September 2015)

It is out of the way and you defiantly need a car but it is good base to visit the surrounding area . clean comfortable accommodation , cant fault it
Confirmed Holidaymaker (31 August 2015)

Beautiful surroundings and piece and quiet. Lodge lovely too. Just the wifi issues
Deborah from Bishops Stortford (01 August 2015)

Pleasant surroundings and comfortable accommodation.
Robert from London (31 July 2015)

Loved it, so peaceful
Jason (25 July 2015)

Brilliant for a very quiet holoday kids loved it there
Jamie from Bangor (18 July 2015)

Very basic and dated, all information provided was what you weren't allowed to do and what you would be charged if you did, the £25 cash only key deposit was a nasty shock and left you feeling like a criminal! no visitor wifi and no mobile signal. And then to find a £1coin electricity meter seems like a joke. pretty disappointing
Paul from Wimbledon (16 July 2015)

Lovely place but quite secluded as closest shops/town is a ten-minute drive. Would have to have other activities planned around the area.
Juanita from Cardiff (26 June 2015)

Very well equipped comfortable accommodation, owners very friendly and helpful. the only problem was the remoteness of the site and the necessity to use the car every day.
Jill from King'S Lynn (13 June 2015)

Good value for money, friendly welcome and when we needed to ask a question the staff were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
Jackie from Scarborough (15 May 2015)

Lovely lodge with a sauna and good location for a peace and quiet break but still close to amenities.
Kay from Hampshire (12 September 2014)

We will be revisiting again lovely cottage and great value for money
Susan from Swansea (08 September 2014)

Idillic spot in the country with views , this was a carefully selected picture of a cottage facing a completely different direction our view was directly into a caravan window we weren't informed that the cottages were sited on a caravan park, we were overlooked it was like staying in a goldfish bowl. Had I known this at the time of booking I would have paid extra and booked the bigger cottage with the view.the sauna was a laugh at 4ft 11 I had difficulty sitting on the lower shelf it was snug , and had no chance of getting higher, my husband who is 5ft10 managed to get onto the top shelf but had difficulty getting down as there is no room to safely swing round as the heater is in the way . the country lane wasn't an issue as others have said after all this is wales . the shop in the village was well stocked and handy . I have issues with the wheelchair access while you may gain access to the property the bathroom was totally unsuitable , not a wet room maybe they have one cottage adapted please check beforehand . the area is central to most attractions an we had a number of days out. The weather was good and we were able to walk the lanes there is a little nature walk opposite the cottages the cottage is out of the way and you have to drive to the nearest village again not a problem we were looking for idillic and secluded unfortunately the caravans detracted from that .no dogs allowed in the cottages but surrounded by dogs from the caravan park.
Janet from Swansea (08 September 2014)

Superb accommodation, if a little isolated. Quality of furnishings and equipment was excellent. The week we were there, the weather was excellent. This combined with the fantastic accommodation made for a thoroughly enjoyable week.
Confirmed Holidaymaker (06 September 2014)

No wifi or internet access.
Patrick (29 August 2014)

Cosy and quiet just perfect for a getaway! easy to drive to local area! simple accommodation and must take own towels!electricity meter quite cheap £3 for 4 days only takes £1 coins! sauna lovely but can get too hot on top shelf as close to light! overall we loved it apart from long drive of 4.5hrs
Stacey (25 August 2014)

The location was very good and the syaff were very pleasant,. definately a future option for us.
Diane from Definately A Future Option For Us. (22 August 2014)

Derek from Burton On Trent (26 July 2014)

Lovely cottage but very remote
Beverley from Llanelli (19 July 2014)

. lovely and quiet. great view. Nearest shops in st clear.
Susan from Winchester (04 July 2014)

Cottage itself very clean and comfortable everything you need, staff very helpful. The down side for us was that it was in the middle of nowhere and whilst we enjoy walking the lanes were very narrow you really need to drive everywhere.
Annie from Wrexham (27 June 2014)

Nice and quiet area, comforable lodge but could have been aired before arriving as it had a musty damp smell.
Paul from Maidstone (20 June 2014)

What a lovely place,we will be back here very soon . so quiet, surroundings are beautiful , nice to be in the country side.
Allen from Brynmenyn (16 May 2014)

If you are looking for a completely quiet place to stay with no distractions then this place is really good. As there is no bar or shop onsite, you have to drive to the nearest shop (which is only about 10mins away) which is a bit annoying. and with no bar there is no one to socialise with but it still has fantastic scenery and is fairly close to things to do
Abigail from Haddenham, Cambridgeshire (18 April 2014)

Great cottage those who are looking for a quiet relaxing break. It was very clean, a little off the beaten track, so be prepared to navigate narrow country lanes. Bring plenty of towels as the sauna is fab!
Rachel from Nottingham (12 April 2014)

Apart from the fact that I had to rope in almost the entire village to help me find it, it was a lovely location. if it had been high season I would have been fed up with not being able to squeeze through the narrow road to get out or home again with the huge cars they make these days, its a bit scary, also coming face to face with a tractor was not nice. cottage was well equipped and leccy lasted nearly the 4 days and I used the over and had heating in bedroom through the night. sofa was comfy and looked new. Plent of tables and even a stand for barbecue outside and stunning views.
Jennifer (04 April 2014)

Second time we have stayed here and really enjoyed on both occasions

Very good value for money, and the accommodation was much better than expected. It was our first holiday together and it was a amazing experience!
Mr P from Tredegar (27 February 2010)

I would recommend this holiday. I booked this break for my partner as a birthday suprise and I was very unsure and didn't have very high expectations. However, when we arrived at the location we were met by a beautiful countryside, REAL countryside. When we entered our cottage we were pleasantly suprised at how clean and 'cottage-like' it was, and when we entered the bedroom we were very pleased with the quality of the sauna. The cottages are in a stunning and convenient location, and during our holiday we went into the local town of Carmarthen which was full of local shops and lovely people. We also ventured out to Brecon Nationl park to visit local castle ruins and see more stunning landscapes. The Pembrokshire coastline was also close to visit with more castles and the Pendine sands. Thank you Hoseasons!
