Unique upside-down cottage overlooking the wharf with plenty going on was great. Nice having the balcony at the back too. not enough kitchen equipment for 8, though John from Nuneaton (30 May 2015)
We had a fantastic week at the cottage. It's a great place for kids and location is superb. We all agreed we'd definitely go back! Lucy from Broxburn (18 April 2015)
What a fantastic location, a superb cottage and a lovely experience. We stayed there with some friends and their 2 dogs from friday until monday. The cottage is very spacious and well appointed with almost everything you would need. (for the things that you forget, the shop is right opposite which is open all day until after dark.). as we stayed during the winter months we had to buy fuel for heating as well as a bag of coal and a bag of logs which was extra to the rental. The cottage is situated on 2 floors of which the upstairs is the living quarters with a huge kitchen and lounge area with the big red comfy sofa . the real fire /log burner was fabulous and created a real cosy atmosphere .the bedrooms are down stairs and were adequate for our stay and towels were provided. The location is at a wharf where there are a lot of narrow boats and you can hire a day boat for around £80-100 per day. After a day cruising the canal, when you drop your boat back , you can nip for a pint and something to eat in the junction pub a stones throw from the cottage. They do good food during weekdays and a delicious sunday carvery for about £9. All in all, we had a superb time and would definitely go back to wharf cottage. . if we were to suggest some improvements, we would ask for an outside light on the balcony. Bigger, fluffy towels as the ones provided were a little small. Wifi that worked in the cottage as unfortunately none of our devices could connect...oh and spare loo rolls please! Pam from Wolverhampton (01 December 2014)
Lovely location bit cottage is very tired and has a smell of damp. Ann from Ormskirk (13 October 2014)
Great place to view things on the canal and get to attractiions nearby. Beds a bit hard everything else great.pub is a good place to eat but book for sundays. Carolyn from Southend On Sea (20 September 2014)
This is the worst cottage (house) I have ever stopped in. The owners and hoseasons need to read the visitors book on this property as the same complaints have been aired since 2010. The cottage was not ready for 4pm, then I had to go and ask the staff to come back and hoover it as the dog hair was disgusting in the living room. The wifi didnt work and hasnt for sometime reading the visitors book. The taps in the bathroom were back to front ie, hot tap on the right of bath and sink, the bedrooms have a real smell of damp and the decor is very poor. The balcony is a flat roof with a rail round that is dangerous. George from Carlisle (23 August 2014)
Yes it was very relaxing we enjoyed our day on the day barge Mrs H from Xxxx (05 May 2012)
Excellent location, welcoming hosts, good facilities (including pub, shop & tea room!) and fabulous views from the living space in this 'upside down' cottage! We were surprised by how much there was to do in and around Stafford & we'd stronlgy recommend a visit to the Trentham Estate (family friendly, excellent playground etc, and also fantastic gardens & lake). The day boat was great fun. Highly recommended. Dr T from Knaresborough (03 July 2011)

Very warm, friendly cottage, well stocked kitchen, ample room, great base for all amenities in the area. Would definitely return. Excellent staff, nothing to much trouble, great boat hire. Mr G from Bridlington (02 May 2011)
The cottage was quiet and well located next to the canal with views across open countryside. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were able to easily hire a canal boat for a day and to go for morning runs along the tow path. Alton Towers is only about 45 minutes away. The pub across the road was friendly and the food was reasonable but typical 'pub' food. We'd certainly book it again. Mr F from Welwyn Garden City (15 April 2011)
Had a lovely stay at Wharf cottage, cosy cottage, was a bit chilly though but it was sub minus temperatures out side, excellent views over the canal and adjacent country side, superb location, very pleasent owners, very good pub across the bridge with nice food and roaring fires, wharf shop well stocked with food and gifts, shame we couldnt take advantage of the day boat but the canal was frozen. Will be back Mrs L from Congleton (11 March 2011)
Great area for walks, not to far from great shopping. Lovely views, pub across the bridge was fantansic for food. Mrs M from Isle Of Man (07 April 2010)
I would recommend all friends to stay there. Mr M from Exmouth (05 January 2010)
I would recommend this cottage as the location next to the canal was excellent with a pub only yards away serving great food and the shop/cafe on the Marina was very handy, some great things out and about for the kids i.e. Alton Towers and Water World, Monkey Forest etc , Mr S from Newcastle Upon Tyne (24 August 2009)
A big cottage, wonderful surroundings and lovely owners. Mr G from Consett (05 June 2009)
