Super old cottage with all the mod cons. Very warm welcome and ideally situated outside the tourist traps, but a great place from which to explore the lake district. Mark from Duddon Bridge (14 October 2014)

We found this delightful cottage to have everything you could possibly need. We have two young boys aged 8 and 11 and they spent all of their time exploring the great outdoors that the cottage has to offer - thankyou to the owners who were the best hosts ever! Mr T from Derby (14 August 2009)
A beautiful area and a lovely cottage - it was perfect. The owners were friendly and helpful, and the lakes, mountains and views were breathtaking. Miss W from Devizes (05 July 2009)
Our family of four including a 10 and 14 year old, spent a fantastic four days here. We were extremely happy with the cottage, it was comfortable, clean and very cosy. The grounds of the cottage were lovely and the kids spent hours building dens, collecting sticks and generally exploring. The cottage was well equipped, and when we got there the owners had filled it with flowers from the garden, wine and chocolates. There was plenty of hot water, clean bedding and towels, cds, books, games and interesting information to hand. The owners were so helpful and friendly, we only had to ask and it was there. My daughter had made a den and needed something to cover it, I only mentioned it to them in passing and within five minutes we were given some old curtains. There were lots of bird feeders hanging up around the windows and we spent ages watching and identifying all the different birds - there were even lots of bird books to help us. We had a car so managed to see plenty of the lakes. All the tourist spots are within easy reach and every journey is a pleasure with the scenery. There was a Somerfield at Millom (10 minutes away by car) and a deli, butchers, grocers, off licence, post office, newsagents and tourist info centre at Broughton (5 minutes by car). In short we had a wonderful time, really relaxing and would go again anytime. Mr H from Doncaster (06 June 2009)
Of all the properties I have ever rented, the owner of this property is such a nice guy and a brilliant host! Mr D from Liverpool (16 February 2009)
The location and property were fantastic and the owners so helpful. We had to do a very late arrival and the owners were completely accommodating and left us some lovely welcome gifts. Other than that, they were there when we needed them and otherwise left us alone. We had everything we needed and feel sure they would have loaned us anything had we asked. Mrs S from Ipswich (29 November 2008)
It was a beautiful cottage in a quiet location with everything we needed and more . A real home from home. The location was perfect to access everything we needed or wanted to see and do. The owners were wonderful and made us so welcome . An absolutely perfect break. Mrs R from North Walsham (13 September 2008)
