Fabulous cottage for two, plenty of space, tastefully converted from, I assume, farm buildings. very high standard of accommodation. about a mile out of hope along a narrow lane, so feels somewhat cut off, but fabulous views, nice owner and a very relaxing and quiet location. we didn't mind the cockerel crowing! Ant from Hertfordshire (05 November 2018)
Wow what a place! we absolutely loved it and I really didn’t want to leave. Location is fantastic, so stunning and not far to walk into the village. Perfect for walking routes too. The cottage itself is cosy and well equipped, very comfortable. Cleanliness was top notch too, very well kept. Lots of lovely chickens roaming around and we had fresh eggs and milk left for us on arrival. We definitely will be returning here again! Lisa from Windsor (19 October 2018)
Excellent comfortable and well equipped cottage Stephen from Stowmarket (12 October 2018)
Excellent in every respect John from Newark (21 September 2018)
Lovely cottage and beautiful gardens and well equipped. lots of lovely walks around the area. Nice to have own private parking right outside the cottage. the only downside was that the owner keeps cockrels which wakes you early in the morning if you are not used to this. otherwise the cottage is in a quiet location off the main road. Linda from Leicestershire (07 September 2018)
Very good holiday great place to stay would go again Brian (06 July 2018)
Well equipped and comfortable, incredible views. We particularly enjoyed the summerhouse, the garden, the siamese cat and the hens. Also the friendly landlady. One of our most successful holiday choices Margaret from Oxford (25 May 2018)

Excellent as always. Confirmed Guest (15 January 2018)
Calico cottage is simply superb! it is well insulated so warm and cosy yet spacious enough for 2 people and their holiday needs. the lighting in the cottage is excellent which is quite unusual in a holiday cottage and there are plenty of windows for outside light and views. The owner is very helpful and friendly but not obtrusive and it is a short walk to the pub (12 minutes) and a bit further to the village which met all our needs. There are superb walks straight from the door of the cottage. Fiona from Canterbury (24 November 2017)
I had been ill for 3 weeks before coming here, so it was a big effort to pack and do the journey, but as soon as I walked in I began to feel better. It was warm and comfortable and I look back very fondly on my week there. The owner gave me such a friendly welcome and unexpected items of food too. The walking straight from the door was just what i'd hoped and I really hope I can go again to calico cottage. Minna from Burntwood (02 May 2015)

Ideal location for visiting The Peak District. The accommodation is excellent in all respects, spotless and very well equipped providing total comfort. Mr M from Christchurch (14 September 2010)
Calico cottage in the village of Hope was superb. Everything you needed was supplied. There was a lovely bottle of wine in the fridge along with 4 of the owners own hens eggs. The scenery was outstanding and waking up to that view each morning was a delight. Great walks in and around Hope. A must for walkers. We had a great holiday there and would recommend the cottage and area to anyone who loves quality, peace and quiet. Mr A from Ipswich (29 August 2010)
Beautiful location, lovely cottage and the perfect place to unwind. The chickens were great companions while we sunbathed on the patio! And the welcoming chocolate chip cookies were fantastic. Miss B from Edinburgh (06 June 2010)
