The accommodation was very comfortable, spacious, well equipped, clean. We were welcomed with lovely cakes. Wifi was an advantage. Placed just right for surrounding attractions. Good parking. very quiet but with shop conveniently close. Just short stroll to promenade.
Anne from Drybrook (11 July 2015)

Had a great stay, great location! some oven gloves would have been handy but all in all great facilities
Grace from Leighton Buzzard (18 April 2015)

A comfortable and conveniently located cottage, a great base for exploring the northumberland coast & cheviot hills. Only 200 yards from the beach too. Clean & well-equipped, though the tv & other audio equipment is rather dated. Not too many amenities in the immediate vicinity, but the centre of berwick is only a brisk 20-minute walk away, & what a gem that town is.
Steven from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (11 April 2015)

Absolutely beautifully renovated property. warm, cosy, just what we wanted to come back to on a freezing january day!. our little dog was very comfortable and loved his jaunt in the snowy back terrace. This property had no downsides at all!. . only downside to the area was the amount of dog poo around northumberland..not just in spittal so don't be put off by this..it was every place we went to in the area including alnwick! I wish dog owners would be more respectful to others that don't have a pet..they get those of us that do pick up a bad name! . . I would highly recommend this property if you want it in close proximity to berwick or surrounding areas and would definately refurn if I was to go back to the area in the future.
Linda from Saddleworth Near Oldham (19 January 2015)

Shower needs more power
Allison (13 October 2014)

We were woken by the people above us every morning with not only very heavy footsteps but a washing machine on at 5.30 in the morning. the microwave was broken and five bulbs did not work. the caretaker did change some bulbs and the microwave after I contacted them. there had also been a leak in the bathroom which affected the floor and this had been put on a previous review.
Tracy from Sheffield (10 October 2014)

Couldnt fault it - just what we wanted - thank you
Elizabeth from Huddersfield (20 September 2014)

Reasonable little apartment as we were only really there in the evenings but on the down side there was a strong smell of dog when we got there and the numerous air fresheners in each room were all dry - called owners and left a message and the cleaner responded very quickly with replacements. We knew they accepted pets but didn't expect this. No "welcome" on arrival or bottle of wine - disappointing when you read others have had this. Needs a bit of tlc - sofas tatty, lights in cooker hood not working and although the outdoor area had been swept, 3 of the corners had piles of leaves etc. In them - don't see why they weren't picked up an put in bin. No local shop within walking distance either.
Jennifer from Coventry (13 September 2014)

Fantastic week, aidens was a great base to explore the northumberland coast and scottish borders, lots to see and do, the accommodation was excellent, everything you could want for a family holiday, many thanks, we will be back
Steve from Manchester (06 September 2014)

We have just returned from a great week in northumberland and were lucky with the weather. Aidens is a great base to explore the many local attractions & couldn't be better placed for the beach at spittal (1 min walk from the door!). our 2 girls (6 & 8) and 2 dogs particularly enjoyed this! kelly the owner met us upon arrival and was very friendly & helpful - even providing a welcome bottle of wine! aidens is a compact apartment and looks more spacious in the pics than it actually is. It is well equipped and clean with plenty of storage in the bedrooms - however we struggled with cupboard space in the kitchen (perhaps lose the dishwasher & use as cupboard space?). some toys / books / dvds (there's no facility for usb's & the dvd player will not play anything other than original recordings, the apartment would benefit from an all in one tv-dvd player). recent shower leak (now fixed) has left the floor very soft & spongy underfoot and the lack of water pressure in the shower made for a very frustrating shower. Double bed very hard / uncomfortable & squeaky (we prefer a soft mattress!). sofas need replacing (not uncomfortable, however previously someone has picked at the leather arms leaving the appearance very "tatty"). the microvave door was stuck together with sticky tape & although still useable would benefit from a new one. None of these points spoiled our holiday however for the money you pay I would have expected better
Caron from Sunderland (30 August 2014)

There were several light bulbs not working which made some areas very dark, the door lock on the bathroom was loose and fell off which could have meant being locked in! dustbins were full up when we arrived, top of dishwasher did not work. No tablemats or coasters. Gutters overflowed. Very loud footsteps heard day and night in the above accommodation.
Maureen from Midhurst (23 August 2014)

Loved our holiday , very relaxing. . accommodation was as described and would definitely recommend.
Customer 12 from Renfrewshire (02 August 2014)

Nice base good cottage very close to the good beach
Ian from Leeds (18 July 2014)

Poor cottage. Shower faulty. tv faulty. tatty, dirty ripped chairs. Damp and mould in places. floor spongy and bouncy. just not good enough. poor show.
Ian from Derby (28 June 2014)

Nice apartment but not a cottage. great location for the beach. Enclosed yard useful for dog but almost permanently in the shade.
Donald from Northwich (31 May 2014)

We have been to several locations in northumberland. This was the furthest north that we have ventured. Aidens was a lovely place and we enjoyed our holiday there.
Audrey from Lincoln (24 May 2014)

Excellent
Alan from Sheffield (17 May 2014)

Aidens was excellent, comfortable, clean and everything we needed for our first ever Hoseasons break. The proximity to the beach was wonderful, literally minutes away, just as described, and an ideal base for touring the beautiful northumberland coast. We would definitely stay here again.
Mrs S from Normanton (16 July 2011)

Yes - great location for exploring Northumbria - excellent for dog owners, secure garden area.
Miss P from Chester Le Street (20 June 2011)

Lovely apartment, in a great location. Ideal for Berwick, Seahouses, Bambrugh and Holy Island. Supermarkets (M&S and Asda) only 5 minutes away, by car. Spittal beach is only 1/2 minutes walk, just around the corner! This pet friendly apartment is modern, clean and cosy. Ideal for up to 4 people. Off street parking for up to two cars, and a secure outdoor patio area - ideal for dogs. A welcome hamper was provided upon arrival, along with a tour of the cottage and useful information regarding location of shops and places of interest. Would definately recommend, and intend to return in the future.
Miss P from Chester Le Street (17 June 2011)

A lovely, clean, well equiped holiday apartment, close to beautiful beach which our dog loved. Plenty of interesting places to visit in the surrounding area. We had a great time.
Mrs H from Peterborough (25 April 2011)

A warm and friendly welcome which was much appreciated after a long journey, the accommodation was first class. With all needs and more catered for. The beach was only 5 minutes away which was great for walking the dogs. The people where all freindly and helpful in the local shops and attractions which made the holiday one to remember.
Mr A from Hull (26 July 2010)

The apartment was very close to the beach. It made an ideal base to explore Nothumberland and the Scottish borders.
Mrs H from Burton-On-Trent (08 July 2010)

We have already recommended our accommodation to a friend who has 2 dogs, the proximity to the beautiful beach is ideal.
Mrs K from Northwich (14 June 2010)

I most certainly would recommend this holiday for both families and older people who like the village atmosphere. The accommodation is superb; the owners are welcoming; (choccies and wine in the fridge). The beach is lovely and it's only a 1 minute stroll onto the promenade from the cottage. Nearby also is Berwick upon Tweed which has all the shops/restaurants etc one could wish for. The pubs in the village are nearby and the locals were very friendly. Everywhere we went when there were also dog friendly which is very important to me (and Sunny!) It was one of my most enjoyable but relaxed holidays. I can't see how you could improve on Temperlar Hall. It was really lovely. In September 2009 I stayed at the same cottage complex but in the larger cottage next door and it was because of having had such a lovely time that I booked again. The location too couldn't be better - the local people also were very friendly and allowed us to be part of their community for a short time. I've come home with phone numbers, email addresses etc and will definitely be going back.
Mrs N from London (28 March 2010)

A lovely, homely yet modern apartment in a wonderful location. Great for those with young families and dogs, the beach, promenade and play area only a minutes walk away. Altogether a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable family holiday.
Mrs S from Manchester (27 September 2009)

You could not be closer to the beach, there is everything you need in this clean, comfortable accommodation a definite 5 star holiday!
Mrs R from Shipley (16 September 2009)

Very nice cottage very handy for days out, nice and quiet.
Mrs H from Chorley (13 September 2009)

This is a fantastic base for seeing the whole of Northumberland and the Scottish borders with every facility close at hand.
Mr S from Heckmondwike (11 August 2009)

Great apartment, great position, overall a very good experience.
Mr G from Burton-On-Trent (04 August 2009)

Very good, clean and modern accommodation, and a good base to see Northumberland.
Mr D from London (05 June 2009)

We had a great holiday at Aidens. The accommodation is first class - modern and comfortable, and we were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. The complimentary bottle of wine, the milk, bread and butter etc were a nice added touch. The beach wasn't two minutes away though - it was much closer (30 - 45 seconds), even walking slowly! The area has loads to do (Holy Island, Bamborough Castle etc), but if you're happy with a two hour drive North, Doune Castle near Stirling is the best castle in the UK. You can explore just about the whole castle freely (up and down turrets and into hidden rooms!) without being 'hassled' by tour guides. We recommend taking the new audio tour, narrated by Terry Jones (from Monty Python). 'Python' fans will recognise the castle from 'The Holy Grail' film. Whilst you're up near Edinburgh, a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia is also well worth the effort, and VERY good value for money.
Mr H from Scarborough (24 April 2009)

A fabulous stay, very relaxing, a perfect location and a comfortable and well furnished cottage.
Miss B from Peterlee (02 April 2009)

A lovely apartment and a fantastic area. The dog loved the beach and we enjoyed the breath taking scenery - thank you!
Mrs K from Wirral (02 April 2009)

A lovely property, very close to a fantastic beach. A great location for taking your dog as there is a dog secure patio area and a beach within 500 yards.
Mrs K from Wirral (14 March 2009)

A great location and good value for money.
Miss W from Barnard Castle (02 March 2009)

This is a quiet location and suited to those who want to take it easy.
Mr A from Warrington (20 February 2009)
