Enjoyed our stay but access road was very uneven. The owner was very nice. Vanessa from Leicester (22 July 2017)
Had the most beautiful holiday would gladly return. Many thanks Maggie from Swindon (15 July 2017)
Wonderful location, a great place to explore the island; worth every penny, thank you. Martyn from Helston (08 April 2017)
Second visit to this lovely little cottage. very peaceful and quiet surroundings. Beautiful garden to walk around and lovely local walks direct from the cottage. wildlife in abundance during our stay - a cheeky little robin who joined us for breakfast and tea each day! a bird of prey soaring above the cottage every day - amazing. Sandra from Southampton (03 September 2016)
Very relaxing holiday. tara house is maybe a bit on the small side, but has everything that is needed. owner was very friendly and helpful. very quiet location, but a little difficult to find first time. we would be happy to use this location again. Malcolm from Spalding, Lincs. (20 August 2016)
Tara cottage is in a lovely location, quiet and surrounded by countryside. It is well off the beaten track, being down a lane roughly opposite the tank museum. We did manage to get a chinese meal delivered but it was obvious that they didn't know where to go :-). it is fairly central, being close to newport, so it's easy to get to anywhere on the island and easy to get back to as well. . it was just the right size for me, my partner and my son and the kitchen had everything we needed for the week. Paul from London (06 August 2016)
Nice cottage for the three of us. It met our needs and we had an enjoyable holiday. Hazel from Northampton (30 July 2016)
The owners are very friendly and the cottage is comfortable with lovely gardens. With regards to comfort, the only downside is the tiny lounge area. my hubby and I are not small people and we got the closest we have been for many years on the 2 seated sofa! the other chairs were not very comfortable and it would have been rather cramped with 3 people and 2 dogs which is what the cottage is listed as being suitable for. also, there is very little cupboard space for groceries in the kitchen. Our car is a 4x4 and the access lanes were rather . difficult to drive down even in this vehicle but there had been a bad rainfall and this could have exacerbated the potholes. Putting aside the above few negative comments the actual area around the cottage is lovely and although the cottage is only a relatively small distance away from main road, it is so peaceful and secluded. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at tara house and so did our dog. Janette from Atherstone (09 July 2016)
Loved it. Our dog was able to explore safely. Hot water, comfortable bed, needed for nothing. Peaceful. Just what we needed. Ideally located base from which to explore. The garden is beautiful. Value for money. What's not to love? Sue from Melton Mowbray (11 June 2016)
Photos misleading, dining area not as shown in pictures, no safe garden for pets as could not be left alone, easy access to animals across the way just 3 wire strings and not enclosed. Lane was dangerous to access and egress from and you need a high vehicle to travel both the lanes into the property. Cottage was unavailable until 3pm and when arrived it was not very clean, small living area and cramped - we knew it was a cottage and accepted it may be small but were mislead by the photos. it was quiet and there were some nice walks in the area. Do not believe it was pet friendly as animals confined to downstairs area - gate had to be put across stairs to keep dog out - we were told this was because some people did not like the idea of pets being upstairs - then either have pets with pet people or don't have pets at all. Damp areas, dirty carpets and kitchen had no place to put groceries except tins - not good if you are staying for a while. Light fixture in bathroom hanging from the ceiling cobwebs everywhere. Richard from Devon (04 June 2016)
We had a lovely holiday. liz and her husband couldn't have been more helpful. our cats had a lovely time as well. they enjoyed their walks in the garden and the nearby farm lanes. Angela from Twyford (27 May 2016)
Lovely place convenient to all the island. Access road bit troublesome onto main road. Back road extremely bumpy. Garden beautiful but not secure for dogs. Well equipped but few items need replacing. Lounge small for three adults and two small dogs but overall the cottage is quaint and in a lovely area, convenient for both ferries. Warm welcome lovely to have some fresh milk for the most needed cuppa on arrival. Flowers nice too. Had a really good time. Would go again if garden was made secure. Cav from Ipswich (14 May 2016)
Great little cottage, only downfall was the track getting to the property. really needed a 4 x 4 as my car struggled and ended up scratching paint work on the brambles trying to avoid the ruts Joanne from Tilbury (13 March 2016)
This is our second stay at tara house, it's a good location for easy access to all of the island. it is clean and comfortable and we would definitely return. . . my only reason for 9 out of 10 for comfort is because we were a group of 3 adults and when sitting in the lounge only 2 of us could sit on the 'comfy chair' a 2 seater sofa, there are other chairs available but these aren't as comfortable for sitting on for a long period e.g. Watching a film on tv. I also appreciate that the living room is small/cosy so it may not be feasible to put a larger sofa or another chair in the room. Megan from Oxon (10 October 2015)
Tara cottage is in an excellent location near cowes, quiet and secluded in farmland. Flowers on arrival and milk were nice touches and more fluffy towels than you could need. A good heating system with a good bath and shower, warm comfortable beds and a well furnished kitchen. A perfect cottage for two. Peter from Exmoor (26 September 2015)
Owners very kind and helpful as the holiday was marred by illness and we had to return home early. unable to get a signal to use our mobiles as the isolated spot made this impossible. Mary from Sileby (14 September 2015)
Nice dog friendly cottage Liz from Birmingham (25 July 2015)
Lovely cottage and garden, great base from which to tour the isle of wight or just relax. Helpful and friendly owner, would recommend especially to dog owners as location is very dog friendly, lots of local walks. Louba from Ayrshire (11 July 2015)
Very nice cottage, living area and eating area a little bit small, but comfy. Bathroom needs up dating, but overall a nice cottage. Kathryn from Bewdley (27 June 2015)
The cottage itself was sweet and lovely and just what we needed. . the location in relation to local towns was good, but it was a little hard to find as it's a tiny lane off the main road but got there in the end! . I quite enjoyed the limited internet and phone signal, it was a good chance to switch off, although that may not be for everyone. . the amount of leaflets was so handy, it was like having a little tourist information centre in the cottage. . there was also a history on the house which was interesting. . I thought that being next to the owners house would be a bit weird but never even noticed they were there to be honest. . overall, tara cottage is a small, cute little hideaway well worth staying at if you want to switch off and relax. Saraj from Lincoln (13 June 2015)
Cosy cottage suitable for a couple. Sally from Birmingham (06 June 2015)
Beautiful cottage, comfy, cosy, well equipped in a quiet and secluded setting. had everything we could possible need, a home from home. small but lovely. very peaceful, lovely to watch local wildlife including a woodpecker and bats in the evening. Sandra from Southampton (30 May 2015)
The accommodation at this venue is very very cramped. the kitchen has one very small work surface only and is so packed in - there is a shelf that is head height it juts into the doorway - you are constantly having to miss it. -the sitting room firstly has a staircase rising up just as you go into it and is literally packed with furniture - there is a table but if you opened it the whole space would be taken up. there is a two seater sofa the third armchair is a small upright chair. The owner proudly told us that they have 22 rooms - perhaps they should incorporate a proper size room into the accommodation rather than offering their guests a corridor to spend a week in!. the bedrooms were adequate and the heating was good. Their is a shower but the hot water pressure is so low that it comes out at a trickle. the blind at the bathroom window is completely see through although very pretty. I could not find a vacuum cleaner and had to clean floors of dogs hairs on my hands and knees with a wet cloth. Confirmed Purchaser (11 October 2014)
Convenient and quiet location. The directions to find the cottage when coming from newport were not particularly helpful as even when I knew where the lane was I still couldn't spot one of the landmarks given. Rooms comfortable though very small - if you were doing any more there than watching tv in the evening it might feel a bit claustrophobic. There was lots of leaflets left in the cottage about walks and places to visit. Felicity from Yorkshire (27 September 2014)
Had a good time on the island and of course weather very good the lane to cottage is trickey but a lot of the roads on iow are in a very bad state of repair overall we had a good time and landlords very friendly Roger from Ta14sr (13 September 2014)
Great holiday with daughter and her children (one very tiny for whom a travel cot was kindly supplied together with welcome extra sheets and blankets). wonderful location for the cottage - so quiet and peaceful. liz was very welcoming and it was nice to have milk in the fridge and some welcoming flowers. . . would definitely book again - maybe with my husband next year Sandra from Ferndown, Dorset (23 August 2014)
Lovely holiday cottage. My daughter particularly loved the large garden and cody the little dog! we were warmly welcomed and the pint of milk was appreciated. The cottage was clean and comfortable and we both had a good nights sleep. The washer/dryer was a bonus as I got everything washed and dried before we returned home. As holiday cottages go this was the best that I have stayed in. It also provided a great base for travelling around the i.o.w. Helen from Derby (02 August 2014)
Tara cottage is in a very quiet & peaceful location, perfect for the relaxing break we wanted. However, it is accessed by either one of two narrow tracks, which I would hesitate to describe as a drive, as in the property description. The first track exits onto the main newport road & as it isn't clearly visible to oncoming traffic, it can be somewhat scarey to exit by this track! the other track is very badly rutted. We found the property spotlessly clean, the kitchen very well equipped with all modern appliances. The bathroom is on the ground floor, and we felt would have benefitted from frosted glass instead of clear (even though there is a blind to preserve modesty!). the bedrooms were very comfortable with plenty of storage space, and lots of coat hangers . towells were provided. We did, however, find the living room a bit small, with not much room to relax. Two patios with garden furniture. The owners live in the adjoined house and were there to welcome us and show us around. Very friendly, lovely couple who were otherwise unobtrusive. . a very nice property, very peaceful, just a little small for us! Jayne from Ely (19 July 2014)
Tara house is a pretty cosy cottage owned by a kind helpful couple. The location was perfect for us to visit family in gurnard and so peaceful. in the holiday season the cottage must be an ideal getaway from all the other holiday makers on the island. access to and from the main road to the cottage is a bit tricky especially if you have a large 8-seater. A strategically placed mirror on the main road would help. Bobbie from London (27 January 2014)
We would stay again in this delightful compact accommodation again - nice base to visit anywhere - good coop supermarket nearby. very comfortable. Stephen from Martin (26 October 2013)
Lovely cottage in a rural location. It was perfect for us, a couple with one child and a dog. Not the biggest property, but I was pleasantly suprised by how well equiped it was. Fantastic quiet setting but everything is easilty accessible. Sarah from Bramley, Hampshire (31 August 2013)
Would revisit if wanted to go to same place again, which I have never done. Would happily recommend to friends or family. Confirmed Purchaser (10 August 2013)
We really enjoyed our stay at tara cottage. It was is a good location where it was quiet and peaceful so you could just relax. the house was well equipped with everything we needed and being able to bring our puppies at such short notice was fantastic. I would definitely come again. Lauren from Lymington (27 Jul 2013)
We had hope for more public footpaths for walking our dogs Susan from Farnborough Hants (06 Jul 2013)
Nice rural location John from Milton Keynes (18 May 2013)
Quiet & comfortable. Heating included. Good garden. Margaret (04 May 2013)
Location only Peter (03 November 2012)
A really good owner, who contributed greatly to our enjoyable holiday. Super location, well lit, comfortable bed, warm, and thoughtfully equipped. The cottage was private, and liz had a very good balance of being there if required, but not being intrusive. . the locals were lovely people, it was good to be in walking distance of the newspaper shop but still in the countryside. The standard of the local, in some cases, all day walks was wonderful. Peter from Preston (27 October 2012)
Owner friendly and approachable. very well equipped kitchen. beds comfortable. location quiet. Dogs welcome. Sue from Epping (18 August 2012)
As advertised, cosy, very quiet, surrounded by fields. Total relax, owners very nice and friendly, large garden for children or dog, ideal for touring the island, two adults and one child perfect retreat. Customer 40 (June 2012)
Delightful short break. Cottage lovely. Two adults and two dogs really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely return. Customer 41 (March 2012)
This Quirky and curious little cottage, well described on the web, met our expectations. Just big enough for 3. Squirrelled away in a very rural location. Ideal for rustic countryside lovers. However, be prepared for scratchy overgrowth on the access track unless your car is compact. The garden exceeded our expectations. Shared with the owners it was large, rambling, wild and fabulous for kids to explore accompanied by their parents. The helpful owners were on-hand for any queries or assistance. Offered their daughters unused garden furniture, my 3 yr old took full advantage. Customer 42 (September 2011)
The property was as described in the details and perfect for our needs. It isn’t the biggest of properties (but it didn’t claim to be!) but was a wonderful base to tour the island. The owner was incredibly helpful and if you needed anything you just had to ask. A lovely secluded location and the property had its own entrance so it was easy to forget that it is an annexe to the main property. Customer 43 (July 2011)
The setting of the cottage was beautiful although the access from the main Cowes/Newport road was tricky. The cottage is an ideal starting point for walks and has a tranquil rural setting and its own patio and garden. The owners are friendly and helpful and we enjoyed their "history of the property" left in the sitting room. Customer 44 (April 2011)
Lovely rural situation, ideal for dog owners. The owner very welcoming. Everywhere very clean and well-equipped. Beds comfy, lounge small but adequate. Overall impression very favourable and we will go back again hopefully. Customer 45 (April 2011)
A very quiet location although traffic could be heard. Customer 46 (October 2010)
It was small but then cottages are meant to be small, aren’t they? I thought it was characterful and a good base for our holiday. Customer 47 (May 2010)
Ideal for a couple with either a small child or a dog. Part of a restored old rectory so lots of character. Situated well away from the main road in very rural surroundings, and so very quiet, but once on the road within easy reach of shops and restaurants in Cowes and convenient for the rest of the Isle of Wight. Customer 48 (September 2009)
Property had history and information written by the owner. Peaceful & quiet location although we thought the info should have stated SINGLE TRACK APPROACH DRIVE. Customer 49 (September 2009)
Very quiet and peaceful with plenty of wildlife. Customer 50 (October 2008)
We wrote in the visitors’ book that the property was "idyllic" and we appreciate the welcome we received. We also liked being left undisturbed throughout the holiday. Customer 51 (July 2007)
Very restful holiday - lovely setting with very good walks. Customer 52 (March 2007)
