Knoll at harcombe house is a lovely cottage. the space was good for our family (2 adults, 3 under 3's). having a bath would have been better but I suppose a wet room is more energy efficient. more shelving in the living room would have been helpful, I had to find alternative places for ornaments, due to adventurous toddlers. the most disappointing thing was that I found pieces of broken glass by the fridge in the kitchen, this could have been awful if the little ones had found it!. the swimming pool was fantastic and the games/play rooms were well equipped. it is ideally situated, only 10 mins from lyme regis, although you must have transport to get to any amenities, as there is nothing in the immediate area. Beverley from Stratford-Upon-Avon (26 June 2017)
We have ahad a lovely stay at the knoll. It was lovely having the swimming pool although a little cold until used to it. The kids loves having the games room. Lots of things for the little ones. The cottage was lovely and warm, well stocked to be able to cook whatever you need to. Would stay there again. Vicky from Leicester (16 February 2017)
Excellent cottage for a short break. We did have a lovely christmas here and the facilities were brilliant. Points to note for those with small children: the bathroom is just a wetroom with no bath and no non-slip matting; the cottage is, overall, very small and suitable for no more than a 4 person family; we also felt it was quite isolated and far from places of interest during the winter - spring and summer would be a totally different story with more time to spend on the beach, nt and eh places open to visitors. Amy from Essex (28 December 2016)
Great for a short break. Walls a bit thin and rooms a bit small for any longer. Alan from Coventry (20 November 2016)
Fab. Easy to find, very comfortable and clean. Only problem was I didn't read no towels and couldn't find any on a sunday in lyme regis. David from London (15 November 2016)
A wonderful cottage, so cleverly done. The kids loved the common room, we spent endless time playing table tennis and pool. We were delighted to use the swimming pool and tennis court as well. This place has everything you could ask for. Dim from London (13 November 2016)
Lovley location and the cottage was cosy , the problem was I think it was from a boiler house flue which seemed to kick in about every 20 minutes it was really noisy especially in the bedroom upstairs unfortunately this woke are children up a few times throughout the night !!! the location was good and the facilities also but probably would not return after two bad nights sleep Confirmed Guest (07 November 2016)
Lovely location ,well kept gardens , great swimming pool. Confirmed Guest (30 September 2016)
A perfect place to relax. We loved the pool and the woodland walks right on our doorstep. We went on our own but it would be an ideal place for a big family holiday with our children and grandchildren. Definitely hope to return. Deirdre from Hitchin (17 September 2016)
Had a pleasant stay. Good locality and lovely cottage. With everything we needed. William from Atherstone, Warks. (23 July 2016)
Wonderful!! the pictures don't do it justice!! we had a lovely stay, the facilities are amazing. . . the cottage could do with a couple of extras such as blankets, a dustpa and brush and a few more pots and pans but otherwise perfect!! Confirmed Guest (18 June 2016)
We had a great time and used all the facilities. Knoll was comfortable and as advertised. Will be back Duncan from Bristol (24 April 2016)
Stunning location, great facilities, very clean and helpful service. Thank you Andrea from Swindon (20 February 2016)
We had a brill time the pictures don't do it justist. the most beautiful setting with hosts that were ver helpful. Heather from Bath (28 December 2015)
This is a great little cottage. It really only fits two adults and 2 small children. My mother and I really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The swimming pool is good if little cold. The area around this cottage is wonderful to visit. A really great place. Sue from Berkshire (09 October 2015)
This was our second stay at knoll, harcombe house and it's ideal for a small family or couple plus 1. There's a good range of things to do at the house and in the area, but you probably need your own transport as it's well in the country. Thomas from Notts. (11 September 2015)
Everything else good but internet access poor.ideal for young family. Val from Derby (04 September 2015)
Lovely little complex. We have stayed at lyme before (3 bed) and much larger than knoll. We found knoll a bit cramped as a family of 4 but would still recommend it. Shame no pub / restaurant close by. Love the pool and had it to ourselves every swim bar one. Jackie from Buckinghamshire (22 August 2015)
We had a fabulous week Carol from Princes Risborough (15 August 2015)
This was our second stay at this location, we stayed in a different cottage on our previous visit. We loved the location and would happily return again. Sarah from Dartford (01 August 2015)
Expensive but worth it. Without doubt the best facilities we have ever seen. Heated indoor pool, games room, tennis court and beautiful grounds. Although there are several properties, it felt very private and we rarely saw our neighbours. Close to lyme regis so perfect for the beach. Would highly recommend. Lisa from Manchester (25 July 2015)
Excellent property. Ideal for us, 2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 3. On site indoor pool just a stones throw from cottage. Good location to access the rest of dorset by car. Sam from Greater Manchester (18 July 2015)
Excellent. Owners made sure we were well looked after. A fabulous time was had Ceri from Carshalton (10 May 2015)
The cottage is fairly well equipped and presented, however it looks a bit tired in places and the beds are not comfortable. There is a lot of noise in the attic bedroom coming from the boiler room adjacent to the cottage. It was very well supplied for children and the pool/play room are great. The bathroom is big enough for a bath and shower though, which would be better as the open shower means that the whole room gets very wet. Even a screen would be a big improvement. Hannah from Bristol (15 March 2015)
I stayed here with my husband and two children. The cottage was lovely and clean, and there was milk, tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival which was very appreciated. the grounds are lovely and we all loved using the indoor pool, games room and tennis court. would definitely stay again. Katie from Fair Oak, Hampshire (22 February 2015)
Great little cottage. Enough room for two people comfortably. Maybe a bit small for 4. Great area and close to shops and a lovely pub. Would go again. Sue from Berkshire (26 September 2014)
Suited two of our party but a bit too far out for the two older guests. Otherwise a perfect situation for a country retreat with good amenities. Felicity (20 September 2014)
We had a great time. A dustpan and brush would have been very. Useful and we were very surprised to find the wet room when the. Publicity showed a shower which we would have much preferred. David from Wallington, Surrey (07 June 2014)
Brilliant holiday lovely place David from Lightwater (19 April 2014)
Excellent facilities. we loved the games' room especially (and had it to ourselves in early october). the accommodation had everything we needed and was very warm and cosy. indoor pool a treat, and we also used the tennis court with its superb view over the countryside. the pint of milk in the fridge was a welcome surprise, as were the delicious local biscuits from bridport. would definitely visit again. Angie from Burton Latimer, Northants (19 October 2013)
Could not fault.ideal for young or elderly, family or couples.would recommend and visit again. Trevor from Shropshire (05 October 2013)
Had a fantastic holiday in knoll cottage- the games room, tennis court and swimming pool were well used by our 2 boys(aged 13 & 10). the website says there isn't a freezer but there is a large fridge/freezer. Beautiful area(but a long narrow road to get to the cottage!) and would highly recommend a visit! Nicola from Sheffield (24 August 2013)
The cottage was clean and well equipped (and there was a fridge freezer although it stated in the description that there was no freezer) it was in a good location nice grounds and the trampoline and playroom/games room was an added bonus for my daughters. The only negative that the pool although very clean and a good size was a bit on the cold side so we could only stay in for about 15mins. We asked other people staying and they thought the same and some did comment that when the stayed before the pool was warmer Stewart from Wardle (17 August 2013)
Brilliant facilities, pool, grounds, play room... lovely clean cottage Customer 34 from Barnstaple (06 May 2013)
Beautiful situation, great facilities Sue from Poole (13 April 2013)
Quiet, and beautiful. Location, well off the beaten track. but within easy access of lyme and axminster once off the country lane. lovely pool and communal room. excellent wet room. we did enjoy our stay and would certainly come again. our accommodation was comfortable. Rosemary from Shepton Mallet (18 March 2013)
Well located for exploring both dorset and east devon. Comfortable cottage, well equipped and other facilities on site are great i.e swimming pool, games room etc Veronica from Olney (06 October 2012)
Good location on the border of Dorset, Somerset and Devon. Indoor Swimming Pool a must for us. Customer 38 (September 2012)
We hired three cottages for a school reunion as it used to be the boys boarding house. We had a fantastic weekend reminiscing about the old days! All the cottages were nicely equipped and decorated. We will be booking again for the next reunion! Customer 39 (September 2012)
The swimming pool was a big hit! beautiful grounds, very close to lyme regis but also main routes into devon. Useful to have washing machine and drier available. Games room was good too. We didn't use it much but, if the weather had been bad, it would have been very handy! Sarah from Bristol (11 August 2012)
Harcombe house is an excellent place to stay for families. Knoll was a perfect cottage for a family of four - with everything we needed supplied. The owners are very helpful and thoughtful. The accommodation includes the use of a lovely swimming pool and games room with some toys for younger children. The grounds are well kept and there are some lovely walks around the property to explore. It is a few minutes drive to Lyme Regis from Harcome House and there is plenty to do there too - great museums, shops and of course fossil hunting on the beach! It is a great base to explore both Dorset and Devon. Customer 41 (April 2012)
The cottage was very clean and well equipped and we felt immediately ’at home’. The grounds and amenities were great. Would have been nice if the swimming pool had opened earlier than 10 am, but that is the only slight complaint about an otherwise perfect holiday. Customer 42 (March 2012)
A comfortable base for a family holiday. You definitely need a car - the nearest pub, shop and bus stop are a half hour walk away up a steep-ish hill. We loved the pool and the scenery is gorgeous. Customer 43 (July 2011)
Fantastic location. Lovely property with amazing facilities on the doorstep. I would certainly recommend to friends and would love to return. Customer 44 (April 2011)
Harcombe House is situated about two miles away from Lyme Regis, it is in quite a remote area off the beaten track half way up a country road wide enough for one car. The location is ideal if you want to use it as a base to walk from or to drive from, however it can be a long walk if you want to pop out to the pub or the shops. The accommodation was clean tidy & warm & exceeded expectations. Customer 45 (March 2011)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Knoll, great facilities and peaceful surroundings. Customer 46 (October 2010)
My wife and I booked on recommendation from part of our family who had been to Harcombe House about a month previously. We were not disapointed, great place, great area, the owners were excellent hosts. Would highly recommend and certainly go again. Mr and Mrs Archer. Customer 47 (October 2010)
Our son and family stayed in this property, while we stayed in Yawl. They seemed pleased with everything in the apartment. Customer 48 (August 2010)
Very friendly, although the wi fi internet did not work. Customer 49 (June 2010)
Clean, welcoming and comfortable. Customer 50 (May 2010)
Fabulous place. Clean and homely - will definitely recommend and return! We loved the fact that the arrival was so easy. There was no one there to greet us, but it was very easy and very welcoming (after a long drive you dont always want to make small talk! but get the kettle on and settle in which we were able to do as there were tea bags and milk to do this in the accommodation and some lovely biscuits - A great touch. The owners then made themselves known a little later - they were lovely!) We then did not see them again but didnt have cause to. We did however feel that they were around should we require assistance. Customer 51 (May 2010)
Has everything you may need in self catering accommodation. To arrive to a small supply of tea bags, milk and biscuits was a nice touch. Customer 52 (May 2010)
This was a lovely place to stay - very quiet and pretty surroundings. The pool was great. Customer 53 (April 2010)
The accommodation was perfect for a young family. The swimming pool and trampoline were very popular with my two young children and they loved sleeping in the attic bedroom. The rest of the house was well equipped, making for a highly enjoyable holiday. The location is fantastic, so peaceful yet near to so many places to visit. We have booked already to go back next year! Customer 54 (April 2010)
Wonderfully thought out property layout wise! Very comfortable. It was very convenient to have access to the communal indoor swimming pool directly behind the property, via the property’s back door. Customer 55 (March 2010)
The property was clean and welcoming and the facilities onsite were perfect for our 4 year and 15 month old boys. Customer 56 (March 2010)
Modern, nice, clean, great for a small family. Customer 57 (February 2010)
Nice, clean, ideal for our family, the kids loved sleeping in the attic, handy for the pool and activity room. Customer 58 (October 2009)
The accommodation was extremely clean, although a little small. The location for a relaxing and peaceful holiday was superb. Customer 59 (September 2009)
The cottage was excellent, the use of the games room the large trampoline and swimming pool were thoroughly enjoyed by my 6 & 10 year old sons. A lovely peaceful holiday would rebook again. Customer 60 (July 2009)
Beautiful quiet location, relaxing, great for preschool age children. Customer 61 (May 2009)
Excellent location, accommodation and facilities. Swimming pool superb. Customer 62 (November 2008)
This was our second visit to Harcombe House - our first to stay in one of the smaller cottages. We had a great time, the owners could not have been more helpful and we will definitely be returning in the future. Customer 63 (October 2008)
