Beautiful house, with everything you could possibly need Karen from Havering (22 July 2017)
This was a beautiful house (much more than a cottage!) which was luxurious and comfortable. The owners had gone to great lengths to provide every luxury and treat including fresh flowers in every room and a hugely generous welcome pack. we were tempted not to go out at all except that it was in such a lovely location. Sarah from London (08 July 2017)
Excellent in every way. the house was more like a home than a rental property. and it had style, space and everything one needed. we had a super week there. Ian (13 May 2017)
Beyond perfect!. . sometimes everything sounds wonderful. Often cottages come up to expectations but it is very rare for our expectations to be exceeded. . we found areas and provisions in this cottage that were not even mentioned in the comprehensive details. . everyone's first comment on entering was "wow" and that was how we felt each morning and on every return from exploring the island. . we were lucky with the weather but even luckier with our choice of accommodation. Tony from Sussex (29 April 2017)
Our first reaction was wow! the cottage was amazing. A beautiful house in a great location. It had everything we needed and more a real home from home. Simon from Solihull (25 February 2017)
We booked candlelight for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did! the welcome gifts of cakes, choccies, fruitbowl, flowers, bubbles and a card really made us feel like we were away from it all and being spoilt. We just can't praise candlelight enough! this is a house that is loved and well cared for and for us that makes such a difference when you want to settle in and call it your own for a week, you can see it from the start. The house is extremely handsome as you approach the drive, huge and full of character inside, yet very homely with lovely thoughtful touches and we were more than happy just to spend time there with our dog and relax. The house ipad was very handy and I even had a go at using the wii (more than enough room to be a rock star in the living room)! the owner of candlelight was really helpful and gave us a call when the netflix account wasn't working (see, they have thought of everything). it's a fantastic base, opposite the bowling green and park - oh and on the same road as the botanical gardens so taking your dog with you is a piece of cake. We are already talking about coming back next year and bringing family with us. Samantha from London (08 October 2016)
Excellent house. 3rd time we've visited. Carol from Lincolnshire (01 October 2016)
Just excellent Confirmed Guest (10 September 2016)
Great holiday home felt very spacious for a family of 6. The welcome pack was the best we had ever had by far. The access to the wii was really appreciated by the children. Everything you could think of was available. Would highly recommend this home. Nicola from Folkestone. Kent (03 September 2016)
Wonderful place to stay, we really enjoyed our week and look forward to returning to our comfortable holiday home on a daily basis. I'd highly recommend this cottage. Leigh from Tunbridge Wells (20 August 2016)
A lovely house in a very convenient location. Enjoyed the beautiful fresh flowers around the house, the fresh fruit, bottle of fizz and muffins were a real treat. Ventnor is a great location for a family holiday. The beach, steep hill cove and the botanic gardens are all in easy walking distance of the house. Would definitely recommend. Amanda from Hertfordshire (13 August 2016)
Candlelite cottage was a breath of fresh air. It was well appointed, had all the comforts of home including wireless connection to the internet. The isle had fabulous scenery, quaint shopping and clean beaches. Local cuisine was of the highest quality and many of the garden walks were stunning. We would readily recommend the stay at candlilight cottage and would return at some point. The windows of the cottage seemed jammed closed and could have done with a good wash. Ferry charges are extremely expensive - car and four occupants costed £200.00 return - I feel that red funnel must be the most expensive 10 mile crossing in the world. David from Sharnbrook, Bedford (06 August 2016)
Lovely house, lovely treats left for us on arrival.the owners have thought of everything.have booked already for next year .10/10 for this house, wonderful holiday. Lyndsey from Southampton (28 May 2016)
This victorian villa is just wonderful. a real home from home, if only our home were as luxurious! the owners thought of everything from the welcome pack to our usage of their telephone. I would recommend it to anyone and it is real value for money. just lovely. Judy from Polesworth (21 May 2016)
Lovely house and wonderful welcome. Really well equipped, it is like a home away from home. Very secure for the dogs, however, it would benefit from gates at the front to make the lovely garden at the front of the property secure as well. Would not hesitate to return. Lucy from Northants (30 April 2016)
Superb holiday property. It was like staying in somebody's lovely home - which in fact it is. Half mile walk to ventnor esplanade and town, with plenty of dining options. Would we stay again? - most definitely. Owner very attentive and helpful. Neil from Henley On Thames (23 April 2016)
Excellent location. Lots of little touches which were much appreciated! perfect stay! Emma from Essex (16 April 2016)
Superb property - with brilliant and attentive owners. Highly recommended. James from London (09 April 2016)
Candlelight cottage is a beautiful home, superbly equipped, that we were lucky enough to holiday in for one week. It's perfectly situated for ventnor itself and it's park. We felt like welcome guests and enjoyed our stay immensely. Helena from Harpenden (20 February 2016)
This was our second trip here to candlelight cottage and we were again blown over by the standard of the property and the generosity shown on our arrival. The house has virtually everything you could wish for in it to make your week complete. . we ate out virtually everyday but did entertain some friends at the house for sunday lunch. I did panic slightly when it came to needing to weigh out the flour for the yorkshire puds - no weighing sales but I managed though with the help of the internet and a good old tablespoon. . we love the fact that you can comfortably relax here with your dogs. We have two westie's who love the place. The park is just opposite for quick trips out or you can walk into ventnor via the coastal path on the other side of the park. . the isle of wight is so small that you can be virtually anywhere on the island from here in 30mins. Candlelight cottage is a tucked away gem with easy access to everywhere. Georgie from Nottingham (23 January 2016)
Fantastic house and all enjoyed our stay. Look forward to returning. Confirmed Guest (30 November 2015)
The cottage was beautiful, the welcome pack was outstanding. There was lots entertainment within the cottage:- dvds, wii, board games, books, ipad, tvs in every room. There was also a surf board, frisbee etc. . the location was great, a park across the road and the ocean beyond. Shops within walking distance yet still a quiet place to stay. Shirley from Kendal (31 October 2015)
A well thought out holiday experience has been created by the owners. It exceeded our expectations. Very spacious and grand house in a perfect location. We loved it so much we have already booked again for next year. Stephen from Northampton (26 September 2015)
Wonderful house & location Richard from Felixstowe (19 September 2015)
Without doubt the very best equipped "cottage" we have ever stayed in.the goodies left by the owners to welcome us were a lovely touch. The walk through the park to the coastal path and then along to "steephill bay" remained our favourite.if you are a group of six people plus or minus two dogs look no further for a fantastic holiday base. Clive from Brockdish Norfolk. (05 September 2015)
Very well appointed accommodation. Well situated near park and in easy walking to town , steep hill cove. Joanne from Lytham (13 June 2015)
Full of character and plenty of space inside to move around in. Vodaphone signal non-existent, orange 60% strength. Rear garden access by steep wooden steps will be a problem for many. The park directly accross the road is pleasant to walk round with loads of bins for dog pooh bags. Walk back from the esplanade is a fairly challenging uphill trek. Kitchen lacks saucepans that have lids, also there is no lid on the frying pan (mess on the cooker to clean off when frying anything). wifi fast enough at 38mbit download (speedtest.net). parking on drive is nose-to-tail, so more than one car means shunting necessary. Plenty of towells and bedding for all. Shame lawned front garden cannot be secured, as rear area is concrete drive apart from stoned area at top of steps, not much fun for dogs or children. John from Long Eaton, Derbyshire (23 May 2015)
Great property and location Louise from Buckingham (09 May 2015)
We had a fantastic time and the cottage made all the better for the holiday. Robin from Watchet, Somerset. (11 April 2015)
We had a wonderful weeks stay at candlelight cottage. it is a victorian villa so very large and spacious with high ceilings. the welcome gifts and fresh flowers were a lovely surprise. the house is immaculate and carefully furnished with some querky touches. there is everything you could need including games, books, dvd's and a wii as well as a well equipped kitchen. it is perfectly located with easy access to all the main tourist attractions. ventnor park is opposite which you can walk through to access the coastal paths. ventnor is a pleasant seaside town with cafes and bars and a co op and small tesco supermarket . we had a delightful week here despite the weather not being great! Claire from Essex (04 April 2015)
It was excellent. This was our second visit and we shall definitely be going again. Carol from Alford Lincolnshire (21 March 2015)
Really nice home, I am saving up to stay again next year. Paul from Cambridgeshire (01 December 2014)
Absolutely fabulous, it was almost a shame that the weather was so perfect as staying in the 'cottage' was a holiday in itself! we did have to walk to the high street to catch the buses as the #6 was every few hours but no big deal. Opposite the putting green and the park and truly wish we could have stayed for longer as it was like stepping back in time. Had a lovely lunch at the royal, which is minutes walk away. The welcome gifts of a whole pack of tea, coffee, biscuits, milk, pink sparkling wine, muffins, strawberries and a huge fruit basket were totally unexpected and very much appreciated. The fresh flowers all around the house made it even more special. Complimentary soaps, hand washes, towels so soft, they felt brand new and crisp white sheets. Everything you could possibly need for a week away was catered for. Definitely recommend this cottage, truly stunning. The owner sent us all the details a week before we travelled, including a set of keys, so he is very trusting of all his guests and as such we made sure that his trust was not betrayed and we looked after the house as if it were our own, (i wish!). thank you, it was just what we needed to catch up as a family on a lovely island in a truly magnificent house. Angela from London (02 August 2014)
A lovely spacious house with all the equipment you need for a perfect holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at candlelight cottage and will definitely recommend to our family & friends. Nicola from Maldon (26 July 2014)
A little short of glasses and some of the china was chipped,no serving dishes.a lovely houses with lots of thought to your comfort. Amanda from Street ,Somerset (19 July 2014)
This was, without any doubt, the best holiday accommodation we have stayed in. The bottle of wine, the fruit basket etc. All really nice touches. The house has the the wow factor. Roger (31 May 2014)
Very comfortable and spacious accommodation , well located for the town centre and sea front. our holiday started immediately on arrival with the very generous and well thought out welcome pack. we would definitely book again. Patricia from Reading (10 May 2014)
A wonderful house, well maintained and clean. Plenty of games and books to keep you occupied if the weather is bad and gives the impression of being in a country house, with broad staircase, high ceilings etc. The welcome pack was top quality. Paul from Market Bosworth (26 April 2014)
The house is beautiful in a great location. It has a very homely feel, and is well equipped, with everything a family could need. We enjoyed the park opposite and walks to ventnor town and seafront. Jayne from East Sussex (12 April 2014)
This was a delightful house and exceptionally well equipped. we would love to come here again. Judy from London (05 April 2014)
Excellent house with beautiful decor and very welcome gifts on arrival. I have rented many cottages in my life and this rates the best! Carol from Alford (29 March 2014)
Fantastic holiday accommodation. the house is very large, with lots of beautiful rooms with high ceilings, cornices and chandeliers. the owners kindly left fruit, muffins, cookies, milk, sparkling wine and flowers as a special touch. There was also an apple ipad and wii to use. The location is perfect, across the road from ventnor park and an easy 10 minutes walk into town by road or a little longer by going through the park and down to the sea. I would certainly go back. Jeannette from Strong (22 March 2014)
This is an really excellent period house in a sheltered position opposite the park but only a minute from the cliff path. It was home from home and we had a wonderful stay. . there was a welcome pack with tea, coffee, fruit, chocolates and more. it was clean and very well equipped with many homely touches and quality furniture and fittings. we were able to take the dog for a small fee. We recommend ventnor in winter as it was quiet and relaxed but still with places to go and eat and drink and buy fresh food. John from North Wales (11 January 2014)
A beautiful house which has character and charm in abundance. nice location, opposite the park. absolutely everything we needed was there. . the welcome pack of flowers, wine and chocolates was a really nice touch. made us feel very welcome. Hope to stay there again. Highly recommended. . Pauline from Banbury (26 October 2013)
This was truly a fabulous property and far exceeded our expectations. The owner obviously takes great care in providing for a fantastic holiday home with every facility you can think of. We received an amazing welcome pack on our arrival - chocolates, wine, cakes and a huge bowl of fresh fruit. The décor and the space made us feel as though we were staying in our own hotel. We would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing stay. Jayne from Tamworth (05 October 2013)
Beautiful house with all mod cons. Extra touches on arrival made it very welcoming. Amy from Spalding (07 September 2013)
Lovely house would visit again. Lovely holiday ! Sarah from Kegworth (17 August 2013)
We stayed here with our son and daughter in law, our daughter and her partner. The house is marvellous. It is the best cottage (mansion) that we have stayed in. There is everything you need and more. The extra touches were very much appreciated. We will be back. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house. Thanks again. Dawn from Nottinghamshire (08 Jun 2013)
Beautiful house, everything we could wish for or want was there. The owner had left muffins, tea, coffee, cava, an enormous display of fresh fruit for our arrival. there were also fresh flowers in every room - thanks must also go to the housekeeper. Linda from Bristol (25 May 2013)

Beautifully presented, lots of lovely personal touches, a place well equiped for good weather or bad, enough games, dvd's and distractions for kids and grown men! very clean, comfortable and warm, tv in virtually every room and bathrooms to drool over. Tastefully decorated and the kitchen was equiped more than adequetly. Jill from Kinver, Stourbridge (30 March 2013)

The housekeeper Kath Is a treasure. Customer 55 (December 2012)
Beautiful house and spotlessly clean the extra gifts left out like muffins fruit tea coffee milk were a lovely greeting thank you so much and the house had everything you needed in the way of towels shampoo shower gel etc etc probably the best house ive ever rented Linda from Basingstoke (27 October 2012)
Very well maintained and beautiful house. Customer 57 (October 2012)
Beautiful house, perfectly clean and all amenities close at hand. Carol from Halesworth (22 September 2012)
Stunning! This is the most beautiful and well equipped holiday home that we have ever stayed at. Home is the best word to describe it, as it has absolutely everything you could possibly need for a holiday. It seems absolutely enormous, we were all surprised when we walked in. We were amazed that someone would let out such a gorgeous house with everything included. It had televisions everywhere, a Wii for the children and they even had a landline telephone that you could use (I have never had that before!) We have stayed in ten different houses over ten years and this is definitely the best yet.Ventnor is a lovely seafront, there is not much to do except the beach, but the water is very clear and quite warm. There is lots to do on the island and nothing takes longer than half an hour to get to. We would recommend this house to everyone (and already have since we got home). The owners also left us muffins, a bottle of bubbly and chocolates as a welcome, these were a lovely surprise. We would all love to go back again. Customer 59 (July 2012)
I thought that Candlelight Cottage looked nice on the web site but the pictures do it little justice. It is a fantastic house. The rooms are massive and it is extremely well equipped. The owners have thought of absolutely everything. Customer 60 (May 2012)
Absolutely fantastic house to stay in. Everything you could possibly need was made available. Would definitely recommend. Customer 61 (April 2012)
We stay in lots of cottages in different locations but this one is by far the best we have ever stayed in. Seeing is believing!! I cannot recommend it enough. We have stayed there twice now and will be going back next year on our yearly visit to friends in Ventnor. Customer 62 (April 2012)
Wonderful Victorian era property, with high ceilings and good sized rooms. Great location, only 10 minutes walk from the nearest cove. Lovely welcome treats provided, and excellent range of in-house entertainments provided for rainy days: books, games, Wii and a telly in every room! Customer 63 (April 2012)
This house is definitely the best we have ever stayed in . It is beautifully furnished throughout and everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday is provided. The size of this wonderful Victorian house make the modern house look like garages, it is so spacious and roomy. On arrival, there is tea, coffee, milk,Thortons chocolates , fresh muffins , M&S bubbly in silver ice bucket and even the dogs had two Bonios. The only downside to the holiday was that my wife was ill for several days but the house cannot be faulted. Would definitely visit again, worth paying that bit extra for this particular property. Customer 64 (February 2012)
The most wonderful house any of us has ever stayed in. Every little thing had been thought of! Just wonderful!! Customer 65 (December 2011)
Candlelight is a beautiful comfortable house. It had everything we needed and was very well presented. It is right opposite the park leading to the coastal path so for us with two dogs was perfect. Using an O.S.map the walks on the island are lovely with plenty of ’dog friendly ’ pubs along the way. Customer 66 (October 2011)
The house is outstanding, by far the best we have stayed in over the 20 or so years we have been using your company. The amount of thought that has gone into the comfort and interesting pastimes e.g. books and games provided is exceptional. The location is close to the coastal path, park, botanical gardens, town and the beach. Steephill Cove is interesting and is within walking distance, but be prepared for a steep descent and challenging climb back. The Old Battery at the Needles is well worth a visit. Customer 67 (September 2011)
Fantastic character property filled with antiques and curios. We were greeted with flowers in every room, cakes, chocolates and tea/coffee making supplies! This house is like home from home with plenty of books, videos, wii and even a laptop! Brilliant for families or couples and dogs are made welcome too. Customer 68 (September 2011)
Very well appointed and equipped house with lots of games etc for adults and children. Customer 69 (August 2011)
This property is so spacious and well equipped. Three generations easily fitted into the house. We looked forward to going back there after a day out to sit on the veranda and catch the last rays of the sun. Customer 70 (July 2011)
Excellent, excellent, excellent. Expectations exceeded, flowers. cakes and chocolates greeted us on arrival. A beautiful house masquerading as a cottage in the literature. The house contained all that any family could hope for and more. The house was an experience and a delight. Customer 71 (May 2011)
The most beautiful house I have ever stayed in with everything you could wish for from babys to elderly alike. Bedroom’s wonderful and cosy, with extra bedding if needed. Great for the winter as the heating is so good. Wii and notebook for use and hundreds of books, games and dvd’s to entertain us on cold nights. Long walks in the park which leads to the sea.what more could you wish for. Customer 72 (February 2011)
A very nice and clean house, fresh flowers all around, fruits, cakes and tea made a nice welcome. Customer 73 (January 2011)
The property is spacious, ample room for the six of us, particularly the large sitting room where we spent several evenings. The property is immaculate. It is also convenient for the town centre. It had everything we needed. Customer 74 (October 2010)
The owners of this property were clearly concerned most in pleasing their guests. So much thought and care was put into the needs of guests. We have stayed in some very up-market hotels in the past and can honestly say that this accommodation was top class in every way. For example, every room had fresh flowers - the fresh flowers even blended in with the deco! Excellent furnishing, quality linen on very comfortable beds. A lovely touch was the cake stand with cup cakes on arrival! Just totally top class in every aspect! Customer 75 (September 2010)
Fine old house, built in1866. In beautiful condition. Lovely furnishings, prints and decor. Opposite town park and short walk to the sea and Ventnor seafront. All mod cons including DVD, flat screen TV and computer. One of the few rented houses that have been a great feature of our holidays. Customer 76 (September 2010)
The house had fresh flowers in every room and a box of chocolates on our arrival, was very well presented and clean and was of a higher standard than our expectations. Customer 77 (July 2010)
Great "old" house, tastefully decorated and furnished. Full of interesting antiques and curios, as well as games and books etc. Customer 78 (July 2010)
Fantastic property, everything we could have hoped for and more. Customer 79 (June 2010)
Very spacious and comfortable. A home from home. Customer 80 (June 2010)
Superbly furnished from top to bottom with a host of truly unexpected extras. Customer 81 (May 2010)
Everything you could possibly need during a stay is provided. A ’Valentines’ welcome package awaited us that included Champagne, chocolates & cup cakes. A bowl of fresh fruit and fresh flowers in every room of the house. This attention to detail makes a holiday very special. Customer 82 (February 2010)
Very spacious, well equipped. The property is in a lovely location, not far from the town, beach and parks. Customer 83 (October 2009)
This is the best property we have stayed at in the last ten years of using UK cottages. The cottage was immaculate & really welcoming, not to mention the chocolates fruit basket tea coffee milk etc including flowers. Would highly recommend this place. Customer 84 (September 2009)
