A lovely cottage but was let down by poor cooking facilities Laura from Guernsey (11 August 2017)
A compact and querky little cottage, with all of the basics necessary for a relaxed week away from the busyness of everyday life. very comfortable bed. The cottage warms up quickly if the central heating is needed. sadly it wasn't chilly enough to need to light the dear little wood burning stove. peaceful, scenic rural location, but with quick and easy access to main roads for exploring the wider area. Good local pubs serving great food, and nearby vinyard with restaurant/cafe on-site. Confirmed Guest from Good Local Pubs Serving Great Food, And Nearby Vin (28 July 2017)
Really nice cosy cottage. Small but perfectly formed and has everything you need. Limited cooking facilities but the combined oven/microwave and 2 hobs are fine for occasional use. Nice selection of games and dvds there. Lots of lovely pubs nearby to eat out too. great location. Lovely walks available from cottage for dogs. Owner very welcoming and helpful. Paul from Whitburn (07 July 2017)
I was after a few days of total peace, quite and relaxation with my dog and that is exactly what I got! absolutely perfect! thank you! Louise (05 June 2017)
The cottage was in a lovely location and was comfortable and warm. However, the kitchen was very small with a 2 ring hot plate on top of the microwave, which I believe to be dangerous when lifting a pan full of boiling liquid. With a little time and not much money a worktop could have been installed for the hot plate beside the microwave Confirmed Guest (08 April 2017)
Absence of an enclosed private outside space makes it very difficult to stay there with a dog. cottage far too small - and inappropriately appointed - to accommodate two dogs on a regular basis; local walks are very muddy and people and dogs enter directly into living room - coir matting is not a suitable floor covering as it cannot be washed. 'professional' cleaners are only as good as the direction and supervision they are given and I did not find it satisfactory: smeared cutlery in crummy drawers, stained mugs etc. bathroom and bedroom were clean. the property does have a certain charm and i'm sure when it was first presented to the market it was an attractive holiday venue but it is showing the signs of serious wear and under investment. sorry! Elizabeth from Norfolk (10 March 2017)
Lovely little cottage with a great bed. Faye & rob really looked after us. Would throughly recommend it John from Horsham (14 February 2017)
Great away from everything location. . needs a cooker. Nick from Iow (28 December 2016)
The cottage is extremely small but adequate for a couple as a base. the bed is comfortable, the kitchen is very narrow and there is no conventional oven. Using the hob which is on top of the microwave is a little awkward. the cottage is warm and cozy. the free wifi extends to all the rooms and is fast enough to watch catch up on the ipad. the owners are very friendly and the walks from the door for the dogs are to die for! parking is right outside the cottage. there is no garden as such but there is a small area at the side of the cottage with chairs to sit and have a cuppa in the autumn sunshine. we had a lovely short break, lots of walking, dogs had a great time and we visited a local beach and nymans country house (only did the walk with the dogs not the house and gardens). we would return if we were in that area again. Sue from Essex (10 October 2016)
Lovely cottage and great owners who are only too happy to advise or help should you need anything. The delightful wine was a nice welcome surprise as were the fresh eggs delivered when the owners chickens obliged. Beautiful location all local attractions within easy reach and wonderful walks on you doorstep. Sara from Leiston (07 October 2016)
Great place to stay.lovely owners.great based to explore the surrounding countryside. Our dogs love the freedom to run through the green lane just outside the cottage. Wendy from Doddinghurst (22 July 2016)
Very small kitchen and sitting room. good central heating, apart from shower room. loved the location but instructions not easy to follow as no road names. Therese from Yeovil (29 April 2016)
Lovely cosy cottage. easy access from the a23 but felt like it was deep in the country side. well epuiped kitchen and a comfy bed. we went on a cold february weekend and it took a good while for the cottage to get warm especially the bathroom. Very friendly owners. Recomended David from Purley (15 February 2016)
We were really delighted to be back in this lovely little cottage. It is clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and very, very cosy. On the very edge of a lovely wood, there are some very good walks straight from the door to neighbouring villages, with good pubs serving delicious food.we loved it, yhe dogs loved it, and it was with great difficulty that we dragged ourselves away, to return to the humdrum of busy lives. The owners live next door, but do not intrude, and will do everything to make you welcome, or if you have a problem. Barbara from Clacton-On-Sea (16 October 2015)
Lovely little cottage ,peaceful and relaxing just wot we wanted , ideal for the dogs Ken from Eastbourne (09 October 2015)
Good rural location with a very large number of footpaths. Ideal for walkers and dog owners with easy access to the coast and south downs. . . comfortable cosy, small cottage with a wood burner. Very friendly welcome from helpful owner. Adrian from Totnes (02 October 2015)
It was our first holidays with our puppy hannibal and we have all loved it. Great place for getting away from all (noise, people, everyday london rush) and fully enjoying the forest and lands that are all around the cottage, public foothpaths and bridleways are just everywhere as soon as you step outside from the cottage and if you meet locals, there are all very nice and very helpful if you get lost. So we advise to have good walking up to date maps :) cottage was very cosy, comfortable and clean. Marta from London (18 September 2015)
The cottage is lovely, but very small. As is rained a lot at start of period of stay (3 weeks) there was an issue with dampness, improved as weather dried up. Lovely hosts/owners: can't do enough to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Superb walks for humans and dogs in the area and lovely pubs to try. Bente from Doha Qatar (11 September 2015)
A very comfortable little cottage in a quiet rural location. Frances from Surrey (20 August 2015)
Wonderful stay at bumbles cottage. Lovely helpful hosts. Cute, comfortable cottage and gorgeous peaceful setting. Perfect place to relax and unwind and a good base for day trips to arundel, brighton etc. Would definitely like to stay again. Thank you Suzanne from Christchurch Nz (24 July 2015)
Really lovely very friendly owners nothing too much trouble we had great holiday dogs loved it lots of lovely walks from cottage Wendy from Canterbury (26 June 2015)
A beautifully situated and comfortable cottage - small but perfectly formed! friendly and helpful "hosts". Mary from Barrow-In-Furness (22 May 2015)
Lovely location, very nice propietors, cute little cottage. However the cottage could do with a good clean. Butter from The Hague (04 January 2015)
We had a super week in this lovely little cottage, and cannot wait to return. Mr and mrs graham made us feel very welcome, and their two children are brilliant. It is amazing how much has been made of the small space, but it is cosy and warm, and the bed is wonderfully comfortable. There are some lovely walks direct from the cottage, which is in the edge of a lovely wood, but because of previous heavy rain, we had to abandon the wood walk!!! the pubs are very friendly, and the food all good value for money, and dogs are very welcome, even offering treats for the dogs. The café in borne hill gardens caters for dogs and owners if you like sitting in a run down, scruffy "garden" area, which looked more like a dumping ground for their old plastic garden furniture! on top of which, there was no shelter, and when it started to rain we were made to stay outside. So I ended up with soggy cake, and my husband's soup and our hot drinks soon got cold. We felt that as they were not very busy, we could have been offered a table right near to the door to the garden?other than that, holiday was brilliant, weather was fine and warm, the walks were wonderful and the colours of the trees were amazing.we have returned home well refreshed, and relaxed.thankyou for our lovely holiday. Barbara from Clacton-On-Sea (24 October 2014)
A lovely peaceful hideaway. We were sorry not to be able to make best use of our booking due to personal circumstances and feel there were lots of places we would have liked to have had time to explore. We found the bed too soft !! Marion from Reading (08 August 2014)
Worst cottage we have ever had. Extremly small. Not clean and it smells strong. Confirmed Purchaser (01 August 2014)
I very much enjoyed my second stay at bumbles, faye and rob and the two children are friendly and very nice to talk to. its a very peaceful location and is the ideal place to relax in and visit local attractions Jan from Rayleigh (18 July 2014)
This was a very compact cottage and although comfortable the kitchen was rather too small to do much cooking. there was a combination microwave but I am not used to using one of those so didn't attempt it. we wouldn't stay there again as we don't go back to the same place twice. the owners were very pleasant and helpful. Margaret from Gloucester (27 June 2014)
Very cosy cottage in a quiet area with plenty of wildlife to be seen Anita from Bryan (20 June 2014)
Very compact cottage in ideal location for walkers and dog lovers. John from Ambergate (13 June 2014)
On arrival building activities were going on with a loud radio and lots of loud talking. Rubble was in our parking / sitting area. The owners did what they could but the nusance went on the whole week. The owners though were very friendly and helpfull. The kitchen area is very small and cooking on a kind of camping hob was difficult. During this building the price should be lowered. We made some pictures that we can sent to you if you privide us with the email address you want us sent those to Jacob from Vlissingen (06 June 2014)
The property is located in a lovely setting and the owners have been very helpful and considerate throughout. However, we believe that the size of the cottage (it's tiny) in combination with the rates would not entice us to go back. There are sufficient other choices where you get a lot more for your money. Sietske from Haywards Heath (30 May 2014)
Although previous reviews forewarned us of the size it was still a shock to see how tiny the 'sitting room' was- only room for a sofa. It was more of a kitchenette than a kitchen which was ok for simple breakfasts but no good for a full meal and we had to eat on trays. On the positive side the owners were very friendly, the bedroom was very comfortable and there was a new shower room. Pretty location up a narrow lane about 1.5 miles from the main road - not for the faint hearted in the dark. If you like basic and very cosy you'd be ok but it's quite expensive for what you get compared to other rentals. Sheila from Cambridge (28 April 2014)
No oven or washing machine. People very friendly. No garden that was dog friendly and we had to share the garden space with their cars. No heating or hot water on arrival. Mould on walls in bathroom and smelt musty. David from March (17 February 2014)
Very nice position as we were meeting with family in brighton. Very cosy but quite small when you have a vary large dog to lay in lounge with you but for two people on their own with no dog it would be very cosy but we would stay again. Rosie from Shetland (27 January 2014)
I needed a place to get away from it all after a tough year and this was perfect. it is small but cosy and had everthing I needed. the owners live close by and were friendly and couldnt have been more helpful. I am already planning to go back in the summer Jan from Rayleigh (28 December 2013)
We had a graet time we would go back again . location was very good Wood from Canterbury (11 October 2013)
Just what we were looking for.. . . not the easiest to locate after dark.. . perhaps a trifle cramped in the kitchen if you were cooking... . but very thoughtfully quality furnished with a very. Comfortable bed .. . hope to return sometime.. Richard from Minehead (30 September 2013)
Ok, but could do with a good clean and bathroom very damp. The lodge is very very small Tina from Sussex (23 August 2013)
This holiday was top class,i would recommend this to anybody who is into the country life stile, realy love the egg, cottage is in the woods and out of the way just how we like it,peole are very friendly and helpfull.this is one of the best places that we have visited thanks for a woundleful time. Rob from Staffordshire (02 August 2013)

Lovely, cosy cottage in beautiful location with very friendly owners. Beth from Derbyshire (03 January 2013)
Exactly what we wanted for a romantic break. Location away from it all, very quiet peaceful setting. Owner provided welome pack, beds made, towels, local tourist info leaflets, folder giving details of the local area etc, selection of dvds, and even the little things like soap, tea towels and washing up liquid! great local pubs/restaurants, ideal for undisturbed walks in the local area. easy reach of brighton Heather from Maidstone (05 November 2012)
Faye & family were lovely, helpful and friendly. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. Although bumbles is on the petite side it had all we required for a restful week visiting family. Christine from St Germans (05 October 2012)
Location, owners are very willing tot help you, woodstove Paul from Ouderkerk Aan De Amstel, Holland (07 September 2012)
Lovely setting with plenty of footpaths for walks and quiet lanes for cycling. Very friendly and helpful owners. Caroline from Carlisle (05 August 2012)
Perfect location for a quiet and restful stay in the beautiful Sussex countryside. Comfortable, well-maintained accommodation.Owners provided lots of useful information about the area. Customer 49 (May 2012)
This tiny little cottage has clean, modern furniture and fittings with lovely walks from the front door and plenty of good local pubs. The owners are really welcoming and friendly and the cottage is stocked with information and maps of the local area. A perfect retreat in the country from London. Customer 50 (April 2012)
Very easy access to a wide variaty of venues and attractions. Lots of walks in beautiful countryside from the property. Glorious setting over looking two gardens. Lots of wild life including birds and deer. Customer 51 (March 2012)
It’s small but comfortable. As a Londoner it’s perfect to just get away from it all and it’s not hard to get to. The owners also left us some local apple juice which was delicious. If you are looking to cook like we did you won’t find a cooker but there are hotplates and a combi oven microwave which came in very useful! All the surroundings are listed in the guest book which is in a welcome basket. Thoroughly enjoyed our short break. Customer 52 (December 2011)
