Excellent country location. The cottage although small with sloping roofs upstairs was very comfortable and well equipped. The owner was very helpful and friendly without being intrusive and was very receptive to any comments on improvements to the equipment provided
John from Bulkington (22 July 2017)

We enjoyed our stay at berryhill cottage but found the sloping ceiling in the bedroom a bit of a problem. The bottle of wine was a nice touch but as it is 7 miles to the nearest shop we think a welcome pack of tea, milk and bread would be a good idea. That said we really enjoyed our weeks stay at berryhill.
Anthony from Stockport (24 June 2017)

Cottage was in a lovely & quite location, very homely & clean, within easy reach of various tourist locations. Would love to go back & stay again.
Karen from Llangollen (03 June 2017)

Lovely location and although small a wonderful cottage. . . the only downside for us was the bed is extremely uncomfortable. Potentially because it needs a new mattress, but also because of the random repair done to the frame underneath.
Jason from Worcester (15 April 2017)

Cottage is in a remote location but ideal if you want peace and quiet this would suit.
Gordon from Ramsgate (01 April 2017)

We wanted an away from the hustle and bustle of the city and we certainly got that. It was peaceful and quiet. The log burner was my husband's favourite. The beach was a short drive away and our dog loved spending lots of time in the water. All in all a very relaxing holiday.
Customer 6 from East Kilbride (25 March 2017)

Third visit to this warm, clean, comfortable and cosy cottage. We will definitely visit again.
Marie from Westhoughton (25 February 2017)

The cottage was lovely and cosy. note it is very tiny and tall people may find it clostraphobic - especially the bedroom with the eaves. we had no tv reception when we arrived and no wifi - the proprietor was very apologetic and both were sorted quickly after the weekend. cottage facilities were good - but be warned if you run the shower and toaster at the same time you may blow a fuse! having said that we really enjoyed our stay and the proprietors were very friendly and could not have been more helpful when we had our little hiccups. extremely good value for our october week - the area was new to us but we would be happy to return to the borders and berryhill.
Jane from Northamptonshire (08 October 2016)

Superb stay, cannot fault the cottage, equipment and cleanliness. a great place to explore south east scotland. We would definitely book this lovely cottage again.
Confirmed Guest (10 September 2016)

A very cosy cottage, away from the hustle and bustle. The garden was lovely and the whole surrounding area was quiet. The property had everything you could wish for.
Carol from Earby (03 September 2016)

Had a really relaxing stay in this comfortable cottage.very well equipped.as soon as we walked into this cottage it was like being at home.the enclosed garden was great for our dog.loved watching the birds in the garden.perfect for a relaxing holiday.and if it gets a bit chilly the wood burner soon warms the whole cottage.owners are there if you need them but not obtrusive.
Jo from Durham (06 August 2016)

Lovely cottage in a peaceful setting but near enough to duns for provisions. We were blessed with a lovely week weatherwise. Overall, a get- away -from- it - all holiday. Garden very secure for dogs and mine is a large dog
Sarah from North Ayrshire (25 June 2016)

Lovely little cottage with very pretty garden. Every possible home comfort including the wonderful log burner! the only problem we had was finding a local supplier of logs, perhaps that could be included in the info pack.
Confirmed Guest (18 June 2016)

A very pleasant and peaceful place to stay and a good base from which to explore the borders region.
Andrew from Heathfield (11 June 2016)

We enjoyed it so much that we have booked another week in february!
Marie from Westhoughton (04 June 2016)

We had a very relaxing holiday, the location of the cottage was very quiet and secluded.the only complaint would be the bed was uncomfortable and caused us both to have back pain during the stay.
David from Preston,Lancashire (30 April 2016)

An excellent stay in a wonderful cottage, kept clean and warm with no shortage of basic necessities. An inclusion of a basic first-aid kit (which I could not find during my stay if there is one) would be the only improvement I can suggest. I would highly recommend it to anyone I know looking for the same experience.
Robert from Edinburgh (12 March 2016)

Very, very nice cottage. very peaceful location (and interesting birds on the garden bird feeder; possibly a wood warbler - we were not sure). very comfortable. Just right for 2 people. Excellent shower. Space to put muddy walking boots (although ours were not muddy as the weather was just about perfect for the whole week we were there). nice to have milk and wine on arrival. parking no problem. A woodland walk on the doorstep. great coastal walking nearby. Eyemouth, st. Abbs, cove, dunbar, north berwick, duns are all interesting places. excellent fish and chips in eyemouth and a nice italian style cafe (and a good independent bakers shop). coop supermarkets in eyemouth and duns. The thai restaurant in duns looked good but we didn't have chance to go. berwick rangers vs. arbroath on the way home !
Peter from Leeds (29 August 2015)

We truly enjoyed our stay at berryhill cottage! it was such a wonderful, quiet and idyllic environment - a relaxing holiday! also very beautiful scenery in a nearby area, lots of things to see.
Christiane from Ludwigsburg (27 June 2015)

The cottage was ideal for 2 people and dogs. We were made to feel welcome and had access to help and support if we needed it ( which we didn't as everything was in order and straight forward ). we loved it.
Irene from Blackburn (08 November 2014)

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable.
Emily from Brighton (20 September 2014)

A small but very comfortable cottage. Excellent location for touring the borders and edinburgh area
Rod from Inverness (17 May 2014)

Had a lovely relaxing week at berryhill cottage. The cottage was very clean, and the hosts were helpful and friendly when we had questions. Very cold the first night, as it took a while for the heater in the bedroom to warm up, but not a problem after that. Log burner helped and was a nice touch. Location-wise, it was very easy to attractions - st abbs head nature reserve and the museum of flight both worth a visit. Excellent wildlife/birding.
Carrie from Preston (30 November 2013)

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at berryhill cottage very much. It gave us a very comfortable base to travel and explore the local area and a springboard to travel further afield.
Keith from Dipton (02 November 2013)

Cosy cottage in lovely setting and great location. Kitchen facilities quite good. Information about arrival details and contacts needs updating - owners didn't turn up between 5 and 6 on first day as expected, and a phone number was wrong.
Ruth from Leeds (07 September 2013)

Very quiet and secluded in a country setting. good parking. Plenty to see. Lots of driving necessary to see major sights.
Terence from Malmesbury (17 August 2013)

Beautiful, peaceful setting. Very tranquil and good, get-away-from -it-all cottage. A log burner had recently been installed, which added to the country setting. A good selection held of local walks etc
Kath from Newcastle Upon Tyne (25 May 2013)

Left coal, logs for fire all week, pint of milk in fridge and bottle of wine
Michelle from Filey (06 April 2013)

Although the 'owners' property is directly behind the cottage, the cottage still felt very private. If looking for a quiet and secluded property this is ideal. Property we found to be lovely & clean and the bed was comfy. The garden attracted a lot of birdlife and a red squirrel also the large french doors made it easy to see the wildlife from the living area. Welcome 'goodies' on arrival was a lovely touch & much appreciated. Easy access to good roads whilst still feeling secluded, ideal location for touring the local area. We would stay again if revisiting the area, the 'bad points' i've listed are all minor things that relate to the property 'feeling' less than 4* which is the rating given in cottages 4 you.
Steve from Cannock (29 September 2012)

Location, just that,
Homero from Wigan (22 September 2012)

Ideal location for visiting the northumberland coast
Steve from Newcastle Upon Tyne (15 September 2012)

Well located for the scottish borders region, edinburgh and the north east english coast. Nice and cosy for a couple. Well equipped in terms of getting as much stuff as possible in to the cottage. Garden was lovely and it was really relaxing just watching the birds in the garden. Owner welcomed you but then left you to it. Nice welcome goodies on arrival.
Alison from Rochester, Kent (18 August 2012)

Clean and comfortable, excellent location easy to get to main a roads. . lovely peace and quiet around farm. several beaches close by, edinburgh 45 minutes away.
Confirmed Purchaser from Oxford (07 July 2012)

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful quiet setting, ideal for a quiet holiday although Edinburgh is less than an hour away if you want to visit, plenty else to see and do not that far away.
Customer 34 (June 2012)

Clean, cosy, comfortable cottage with a nice little welcome package.
Customer 35 (June 2012)

Birds, birds, birds..and chickens (which are birds apparently). oh, and the welcome pack.
Ian from Glasgow (26 May 2012)

Great garden for dog, cairn terrier did not get out. Friendly chickens. Fantastic area for walks.
Customer 37 (May 2012)

The location was ideal for me personally as wanted something very rural, a short drive to the beach to walk the dog and not far to berwick-upon-tweed and north berwick in the opposite direction. The cottage was perfect for 1-2 people with the necessary equipment for its purpose.
Lisa from Darlington (21 April 2012)

Perfect size cottage for 2 people in quiet rural location, close to coast. Did not expect anything other than what was listed in the description despite other visitors comments in visitors book. The cottage served its purpose.
Customer 39 (April 2012)

Perfect cottage to escape from the ’rat’ race.
Customer 40 (September 2011)

The location of the property was excellent for visits to Edinburgh either by car or rail from Dunbar. We also enjoyed Holy Island and Bamburgh castle. The cottage was peaceful and made a great base to return too after a day exploring what Scotland and Northumberland had to offer.
Customer 41 (July 2011)

We loved the location - quiet and peaceful, surrounded by woods and rolling countryside. The cottage was only just over a mile from the A1 which meant getting around the area was really easy. We found the property to be very comfortable and well-appointed, apart from the hob and combi-oven - we would have preferred a conventional cooker.
Customer 42 (July 2011)

Cottage is very cosy and is perfect for two!Beautiful views and is very quiet. Owners are very friendly and left use welcome gifts of wine, mini eggs (for Easter) and fresh eggs from their free range chickens which were amazing. Would recommend for those who was peace and quiet in the Scottish borders.
Customer 43 (April 2011)

Perfect, cosy cottage for two. Great location - 45 min drive from Edinburgh, local amenities just a short drive away. The nearby coastal areas are beautiful. The cottage itself is well equipped and an ideal base for exploring southern Scotland. Highly recommended.
Customer 44 (February 2011)

It is just the right size for 2 people. It is very clean and in lovely surroundings.
Customer 45 (November 2010)

The property was clean and very comfortable. It was as described, private and secluded and in beautiful surrounding countryside. The owners were nearby but never bothered us, just met us when we arrived and left us in peace. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to friends.
Customer 46 (October 2010)

A very cosy accommodation and excellent as a base to visit the numerous attractions in the surrounding area.
Customer 47 (August 2010)

It was a nice quite small couple cottage.
Customer 48 (July 2010)

Secluded, nice garden patio area, household consumables supplied by owners, owners very helpful.
Customer 49 (July 2010)

Handy location only a couple of minutes from main trunk road. Excellent walks on farm.
Customer 50 (June 2010)

It was detached in the most tranquill of settings, ideal for the dog, as there was an enclosed safe garden, so peaceful, and so much wild life including roe deer.
Customer 51 (June 2010)

Good for size/price.
Customer 52 (May 2010)

Lovely little cottage, tucked away in lovely countryside and very private.
Customer 53 (May 2010)

Remote and quiet.
Customer 54 (March 2010)

The peaceful location. Simple but very well equipped. Lovely views. Reasonably price.
Customer 55 (March 2010)

The cottage was great we loved it as it is a cottage, visitors need to beaware of low ceilings in the bedroom, not a problem for us.
Customer 56 (October 2009)

Easy access by road to the local area while still being quiet and secluded.
Customer 57 (October 2009)

A beautiful area and very relaxing. Good roads and a good tip is if you want to visit Edinburgh go by car to Dunbar and get the train it makes life so much easier.
Customer 58 (August 2009)

Quiet location but near to main road and lots of towns to see and visit.
Customer 59 (July 2009)

The cottage was in a great location with a secure garden for our puppy to roam around in. Lots of walks near by. The owner had left us milk and shortbread with flowers in the living area on arrival which was very much appreciated.
Customer 60 (May 2009)

Quality cottage with lovely owners. Wonderful, peaceful setting with wildlife all around, and yet central to everything. So good to have a property that makes dog owners so welcome.
