Lovely chalet with everything required for a super holiday. Well situated with easy access to shops, restaurants and beautiful walks. Close to railway for away days to aviemore, inverness etc. Leave the car and explore!
Sandra (21 July 2017)

Great break in the highlands from an excellent base at newtonmore
Mike from Woking (28 April 2017)

Amazing place, will stay again in the future. A few little things but they have already been mentioned to the owners so should be dealt with. Otherwise would of scored a 10! loved the area, the few wildcats on the property was great. Seeing red squirrels outside your window. Not far from aviemore or the a9, so very easy to find and to get to local areas. Will come back when we can afford it!
Alice from Worcestershire (24 February 2017)

We have stayed 6 times in baltinna west ,so obviously we just love staying there,we normally stay in february so with the cosy wood burner and great bath its really a lovely place in winter to stay ,hopefully we shall return in the future.
Heather from Bourne (10 February 2017)

We very much enjoyed the cottage, well presented, clean and cosy.
Emily from Dunblane (16 January 2017)

Fantastic cottage! very cosy, especially in the -3c temps outside!! looked just like the photos. Very clean and tidy. It really is a lovely cottage. Couldn't have asked for more. Would love to go back :-). you will not be disappointed if you stay here :-)
Stephen from Liverpool (13 January 2017)

We had another great week at baltinna. The cottage as always was spotlessly clean and well equipped, the little touches, such as bath salts, give a very personal feel to the cottage. The wood burning stove is amazingly efficient and kept us very warm on some cold days, there is also lots of extra wood in the wood store which is a nice touch as other cottages that we have stayed in before have not provided any wood or only the first lot. The cottage is well located in the village, the newtonmore grill is a few minutes walk away as is the petrol station with shop and the train station is also not that far away. The village also has a well stocked co-op supermarket and lots of cafes. The locals are very friendly and can offer useful information on the area, we were able to find a flock of waxwings in aviemore after a good tip off from some locals we met while out walking. The 10km wildcat walk gives some excellent views of the area and a chance to see some of the local wildlife. The highland wildlife park and museum of rural life (open in summer) are worth a visit, as is trying out the wildcat experience which involves finding wildcat replicas that are hidden around the village, be warned it is highly addictive. . we will definitely be visiting baltinna in the future, we can't imagine staying anywhere else.
Dana from Glasgow (25 November 2016)

Thank you for a gorgeous week in your fab cottage. Can't wait to come back!
Ailsa from Glasgow (12 November 2016)

We had a fantastic stay the cottage we found to be so cosy and comfortable, had everything you could possibly need. . . great local walks with our dog otto he really enjoyed his stay. The only downside was the local pub you couldn't take your dog in, but the weather was so good we sat outside. . . we visited a lot of places which were great. We definitely would stay again.
Gail from Newcastle (14 October 2016)

We had a wonderful stay at baltinna west. The cottage is well equipped and cosy, with lovely views from upstairs. There is a petrol station almost next door and a pretty good co-op just down the road. There are also several other shops and cafés in newtonmore and lots of lovely walks.
Ruth from Bicester (07 October 2016)

We enjoyed our break in newtonmore there are lots of beautiful walks in the surrounding area. The cottage has everything you need for a short break but we found the sofa and bed small and uncomfortable and windows and binds dirty. Can be cold at times but the heating kicks in quickly and the log burner when you use it is lovely. Very easy to find on exiting the main road.
Patricia from Perthshire (30 September 2016)

Cosy, stylish, well equipped cottage ideally located for a highland holiday. Would recommend baltinna west.
Michael from Edinburgh (16 September 2016)

Had a really enjoyable stay, good facilities in the cottage and in a good location. Only concern was overal cleanliness, but other than that would recommend this cottage and location to anyone.
Mark from Warwick (27 August 2016)

Loved it, would have given 10 in every category but it was very warm and at night quite uncomfortable to sleep due to heat. We even took duvet out of cover. It would be better for the accommodation to be cooler so we could increase the heat, which is easier to achieve than trying to cool it down. But would stay again. Fantastic holiday x
Shellie from Carnforth (12 August 2016)

Well appointed and well thought-out cottage with a homely feel - very nice.
Andy from Edinburgh (15 July 2016)

We had a really nice quiet holiday the cottage was very nice. One issue was that the wifi is shared with the cottage attached and when the world cup football and rugby games was on trying to watch them on our tablet wouldn't work as next door was using the wifi at the same time just kept freezing so had to call local pubs to go out and watch it. Not a problem because still had a good time meeting locals but it was annoying when trying to use it when next door was in as didn't work.. overall lovely place! love the tub!!! thanks for a nice holiday
Holly from Nottingham (17 June 2016)

What a wonderful cottage, very well equipped with quality linen and kitchen bits, clean, good wifi, walking distance to fantastic restaurants, fishing spots, scenery. The only disappointment was the messy front yard and missing buttons on duvet which felt a bit neglected. Will definitely rent this cosy, modern house again
Marelize from London (23 May 2016)

Beautiful well located property. Very cody accommodation - clean and warm. No complaints at all. Lots of wonderful walks in newtonmore.
Victoria from Crewe (22 April 2016)

Very dissapointed at lack of cleanliness, had to hoover on arrival and there was food etc, down sofa cushions, very dusty with a lot of cobwebs in lounge /kitcen area. Big bonus is the bath and the comfy bed.
Carol from Whitburn (15 April 2016)

We had an absolutely fantastic stay. Can't fault it.. a lovely relaxing getaway. Fully equipped, lovely furnishings.. cosy.. what more could you ask for!
Michelle from Edinburgh (10 March 2016)

Great base to explore the local area . lovely comfy bed , quiet area .
Mather from Sheffield (19 February 2016)

It was a really cool cottage with everything we needed, we loved the small little touches like the bath salts, little dram on arrival and they even gave us a bottle of wine because the one blind was not working, a really good feature is the skylight over the bed and when the sky is clear you can lay in bed and watch the stars
Rodney from Sunbury On Thames (15 January 2016)

Had a fantastic new year at baltinna west. loved the bath after a big day on the hill. the accommodation was extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. enjoyed so much, booked again for next new year!
Louise from Manchester (04 January 2016)

This is our second time at xmas here. Had another great stay. had xmas day in the chalet, plenty of equipment and room for 2. the dog loved it.
Janet from Stirling (28 December 2015)

Amazing cottage that's perfect for relaxing. Lovely location. Loads to do locally if you want to. Only down side was the heating..it keeps resetting to a preset temperature which made it a little warm for my taste.
Chris from Perth (01 November 2015)

Great little cottage all the comforts of home. normally stay in baltinna east but west just good. Great location for exploring.
James from Greenock (23 October 2015)

Fantastic holiday and will definitely return
Elaine from Stirling (09 October 2015)

Had a lovely time in this cottage, it is quite in the middle of nowhere but they have free wi-fi if you do need to connect! it really is very well equiped, however we felt it lacked a little on cleaniness, there was thick dog hair underneath the sofa and crumbs etc down the back of the sofa. The cutlery also felt like it needed a really good clean, so ended up putting a few bits on the dishwasher - the shower was also awful and leaked onto the wooden floor beside the door!
Jessica from Crawley (18 September 2015)

Great stay, lovely owners who were very accommodating. Would definitely stay again.
Confirmed Guest (23 August 2015)

Lovely cottage at the heart of the cairngorms. . felt like a home from home.
Rebecca from Staffordshire (07 August 2015)

Lovely cottage and location was brilliant, would definitely stay again!
Shona from Edinburgh (17 July 2015)

Baltinna west is a perfect place for two. There is everything you need to feel at home and is very cosy. The location was perfect for us as the cottage is within easy walking distance of everything in the village. There is good wifi which was helpful as my mobile signal was poor. We even had three warm days during our stay and were able to sit out in the little garden!
Carole from Kirkcaldy (12 June 2015)

Lovely cottage, good location, would definitely stay again
Richard from Weybread (05 June 2015)

Disappointing. Garden was a small patch of grass at the front. Little comfort in living room area. Living room very dull. Needed lights on all the time.
Peter from York (22 May 2015)

Enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was nice and clean and the very efficient wood burner was impressive for it's size. . the bedroom and open topped bath were excellent. The wine and chocolate a nice touch. . our only issue was that the velux blind in the shower room had been broken by the previous occupant and they were waiting for a replacement. Compromising privacy to some extent. However this did not spoil our break at the cottage
Dave from St. Andrews (04 May 2015)

Fantastic week spent at baltinna west, accommodation was clean and well appointed (with log burner, roll top bath and dishwasher). location and village is lovely with a couple of good pubs (serving food and good selection of ale), a shop and take-away. Couldn't have asked for anything more.
Stuart from Portsmouth (10 April 2015)

We had stayed there 4 years ago so we new what to expect.it is a very cosy cottage with a great bath to soak in after a long days walking.the fact that it is dog friendly and within walking distance of three pubs makes it the perfect holiday destination.
Wilma from Wormit (27 March 2015)

Great place
David from Chorley (09 March 2015)

Lovely cosy cottage. Convenient for touring the cairngorms national park.
Catherine (27 February 2015)

Absolutely fantastic property which was perfect for our requirements. The property is really well spec'ed out with everything you need to make it comfortable and entertaining, including all kitchen appliances/equipment, very comfortable lounge with great entertainment system and the best bit, a log burner with all the fuel you need! the owner has clearly gone to a lot of effort to make their property premium quality. . the location is also great, with beautiful walks and local services, pubs etc on the door step
Andrew from Nottingham (20 February 2015)

Excellent cottage. Ideal location for access to the cairngorm ski slopes. Bath in bedroom a real treat after a hard day on the mountains.
Ali from Stirling (13 February 2015)

4th stay does not disappoint great place to chill and relax highly recommend glen hotel and wild flour(takes dogs bonus) .will return can't wait.
Peter from Salford (04 January 2015)

The holiday was spoilt due to the very old dilapidated uncomfortable mattress on the bed. we suffered with back ache the whole week! unheard of on previous holidays! the oven was filthy and required complete expert cleaning, we cooked two dinners and the black smoke and foul smell were unpleasant. if the two issues were rectified then we would stay there again.
Linda from Robinson (31 October 2014)

Cottage was not clean. Under leather was disgusting. Including someone else's hair band. In my first evening I ended up brushing and mopping the lower level floor as it had clearly not been cleaned when we arrived. Also the mattress had seen better days. Extremely uncomfortable. Chairs on decking were rotten through almost causing a serious accident. Shame as could be a lovely retreat if better maintained.
Zoe from Glasgow (24 October 2014)

Lovely little house, beautiful setting but had to travel a bit to reach things. Would definitely go back, exactly what I expected and more, great for a break with a partner, remote and private, log burning stove and bath in bedroom were the highlights.
Lauren from Edinburgh (20 October 2014)

This is a high quality holiday cottage with a very good standard of fixtures and fittings. location is excellent and local amenities are of a good standard with a pub and supermarket within walking distance and a petrol station very nearby. my only very small criticisms are that the property is very dark all day long regardless of how sunny it may be outside and the downstairs toilet is not always that convenient. very small points and not something that would put me off of booking again in the future.
Nathalie from Hexham (03 October 2014)

Overall we enjoyed our stay at baltinna west, but were disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the cottage.
Confirmed Purchaser (12 September 2014)

The cottage is not in as a secluded located as originally anticipated, but in fact the was not a problem. as a base exploring the cairngorms then baltinna west is ideally located. the cottage is warm & comfortable with all the mod cons one expects these days. we would stay there again.
Customer 48 from Dubai (30 May 2014)

This was our second stay at baltinna and we will definitely being staying again. The property is beautiful and cosy with comfy furniture and the bath is to die for. The cottage is very close to the main street and newtonmore grill. We recommend trying your hand at spotting all the wildcats in the village, you can pick up a pack at the wildcat centre, its addictively fun no matter what your age.
Dana from Glasgow (02 May 2014)

Fantastic week in a beautiful area would defiantly return
Terry from Newcastle (25 April 2014)

Sadly the bed was so uncomfortable the holiday was spolit with a bad back and poor sleep. The fire was great as was the cleaner who left everything immaculate. Not as scenic from the cottage as we would have liked as the garden was overlooked by a road and other properties. However the area is wonderful and scenic one worth a visit
Confirmed Purchaser (18 April 2014)

Had a cracking wee holiday , it seemed like you were in the middle of nowhere but only 5 mins walk from village centre. Lodge was brilliant very modern but very cosy. Crackin stay!!
Marc from Glasgow (17 February 2014)

Beautiful cottage for the christmas holidays. Only wished we could have been nearer to aviemore as we were there most days, but I booked too late for the holidays. Would definitely book again though. Would be nice to go back in summer.
Grace from Cairo (04 January 2014)

Chalet had everything you would need. The wood burner was fabulous and it was very cosy and clean. Myself and my husband spent xmas up there and it had been decorated for us. There was also a bottle of champers and choccies which was a lovely touch. I would definately visit again.
Janet (28 December 2013)

Baltinna is a wonderful little place that is a perfect romantic retreat. The log fire makes the property very warm and cosy. The furnishings are comfortable and modern while also providing a country cottage feel. And the bath is amazing, beautiful, and huge. It is worth a visit to baltinna just for the bath. The village is lovely and the people are very friendly. I highly recommend a visit to the highland wildlife park and to do the wildcat experience, although aimed primarily at children me and my boyfriend has a great day searching the village for all the wildcat statues. We loved our little holiday so much that we immediately booked baltinna again for april as soon as we got home.
Dana from Glasgow (02 December 2013)

Brilliant cottage in a great village with some stunning scenery and attractions nearby. Exceeded some fairly high expectations and did not disappoint in any aspect.
Keith from Fairford (25 November 2013)

Lovely and well designed building. Only criticism is that a loo upstairs would be desirable, but this wouldn't put me off going back. Loved the bath in the bedroom.
Stuart from Edinburgh (15 November 2013)

Fabulous, the owner seems to have thought of every need. A lovely wood burning stove. My only slight criticism is how uncomfortable the mattress is, I would take a mattress topper if I visited again.
Gwen from Covey-Crump (18 October 2013)

The living area is very dark because of the trees outside the only window. Ok in winter but not so good in summer.
Lilian from Helensburgh (09 August 2013)

Location was fine and wood burning stove was excellent - it was overall a nice place but not somewhere I would go back to.
