Lovely cottage & lovely host. Would recommend to anybody looking for a quality cottage in a rural location but not too far from local towns & amenities. Very nice welcome pack of locally produced products. Roy from Raithby (14 July 2017)
An exceptionally well equipped cottage, with wonderful views. it was spotlessly clean. very easy to find, and within a few miles of pickering, malton, kirby moorside, helmsley. only around a mile from flamingoland. a very pleasant and helpful owner and a lovely garden. a very quiet location. would definitely recommend this cottage. Ray from Ramsbottom (07 July 2017)
This is the best holiday cottage we stayed in so far! the cottage was more than well equipped, very clean and had a comfortable bed. It's situated in a peaceful little village and the garden & view are beautiful. Dorothy was very helpful and such a great host. She made us feel so welcome. Although the cottage is in a small village, you don't have to drive far for getting your groceries. And it's situated perfectly for exploring ryedale and the north york moors. Simone from The Hague, Netherlands (23 June 2017)
Everything has been thought of in this cottage. You can relax as soon as you get there. Carol from North Walsham (16 June 2017)
Undoubtedly the best cottage we have stayed in. Dorothy was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was beautiful and the quality of furnishings and fittings was superb. . we will be back again next year. Mike from Bradford, West Yorkshire (02 June 2017)
Third visit, and still worth every penny. Margaret from Silverdale Lancashire (26 May 2017)
10 minute drive to pickering for all your needs. Feels like a home from home. Dorothy is friendly, helpful and a warm host. The 'welcome pack' is definitely welcome. Have stayed in this cottage and the long house before and will certainly be returning. Bogdan from Huddersfield (12 May 2017)
Ashpit cottage is definitely worth a visit, it is comfortable, well placed for visiting places of interest and for people who like visiting theme parks flamingo land is by car 5 mins away.the bird feeder outside ashpit front doors attracts many birds and grey squirrels and the pond is well stocked with goldfish. The owner provides a friendly welcome and a food pack to get you started. We visited in april and the weather was quite windy ,make sure you have a heavy jacket just in case. Dennis from Cumbernauld (21 April 2017)
A wonderfully quiet and peaceful retreat in a great part of yorkshire which was furnished to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. Although the location is beautiful, a car is essential. Dorothy was very responsive to any issues or requests we had and I would highly recommend the cottage. Phil from Brighton (31 March 2017)

This is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location, looking out over fields and hills. all the furniture, fittings and equipment are first-class, and the owner dorothy made us very welcome and was keen to make sure we had everything we needed or wanted. this is one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in and we definitely plan to come again. Kathleen from Preston (26 August 2016)
Lovely cottage. Well resourced. Beautifully decorated. Did not find bed or armchair very comfortable unfortunately. Paul from Rayleigh (05 August 2016)
Probably the highest spec cottage we have ever stayed in. Large and spacious with every little detail thought of. Large bathroom plus separate shower, welcome pack included on arrival and our host, dorothy, had even phoned us in advance to ask which type of milk we preferred and would we rather have white or red wine. There were a couple of prepaid visitor passes available for us to use at local attractions too. The setting of the cottage is perfect. A great place to return to at the end of each day. Can't recommend highly enough. Catherine from Maidstone (20 May 2016)
An extremely comfortable cottage, with every facility for a holiday, equipped and maintained to the highest standard. The term luxury is well deserved. Fred from Bushey (08 May 2016)

Great place to stay for peace and quiet in great countryside. Confirmed Guest (16 November 2015)
Ashpit cottage is one of the best equipped and comfortable cottages we have stayed at. . . the owners paul and dorothy were friendly and helpful and very much respected our privacy. . this was our first visit to yorkshire, the area is outstanding and so was our stay. Peter from London (02 November 2015)
Paul and dorothy are the perfect hosts who have created a perfect 5*+ cottage in a perfect location and clearly work extremely hard to maintain their very high standards. the attention to detail is, in our experience of over thirty years of self catering holidays, simply unique. . to strive for perfection is admirable but to achieve it in every consideration is truly remarkable and this cottage should be adopted as the 5* benchmark by which every cottage being considered for this rating should be judged. Andrew from Winchester (25 September 2015)
A fabulous cottage with a fantastic view, centrally located for many attractions. The owners paul and dorothy were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, the welcome pack was excellent, especially the home made bread. Both the cottages have been totally rebuilt/refurbished by paul and dorothy to a very high standard and they both should be very proud of what they have achieved. We would not hesitate to recommend either of these cottages to anyone or return again.thank you both for a lovely fortnight's holiday. Pete and jan. Pete from Essex (11 September 2015)

The cottage had a rustic atmosphere but with some lovely elegant & artistic touches. The kitchen was very well equipped and the welcome pack was excellent. The owners gave us a warm welcome and provided a wealth of brochures and advice on where to go. Hope to visit again. Customer 64 (September 2012)
Excellent cottage. Customer 65 (December 2011)
Though the weather was doing its best to dampen our holiday, Ashpit Cottage was a little Haven. Dorothy and Paul have put such a lot of thought into providing truly first class holiday accommodation, and thoroughly deserve all of the wonderful comments in the visitor’s book! The cottage itself was stunning, comfortable and ideally situated. The welcome was warm, and the tea tray, cake, home-made bread and wine very much appreciated so we could find our feet in the area without rushing straight out to buy the essentials. All in all we had a very relaxing, enjoyable holiday and hope to be back in the years to come. Customer 66 (December 2011)
A truly beautiful cottage, very well equipped, it has everything you could possibly need for a wonderful break. We received a very warm welcome, freshly baked bread, wine, local cheeses. Exceeded all expectations! Customer 67 (October 2011)
An excellent cottage finished to the highest standard. It had a marvellous view, was spotlessly clean and had many added touches (like soap, bubble bath, home baked bread and eggs from own chicken). The hosts were friendly & approachable but not intrusive. Customer 68 (October 2011)
This property is outstanding in a rural setting with superb views across the garden to the hills. A very warm welcome including home made provisions. Every aspect of the cottage had been carefully planned and no detail overlooked including the two bathrooms. Customer 69 (September 2011)
We found the property to be of the highest quality, and the owners were very kind and very helpful. I described the cottage in the guest book,as ’Perfect’, which it was, and after 11 years of using Country Cottages, we know what we are talking about. One suggestion,- it would be helpful to have a simple guide as to the use of equipment. Customer 70 (August 2011)
Absolutely perfect, could not have asked for better accommodation or better hosts. I could not rate this cottage high enough, simply perfect. Customer 71 (June 2011)
The holiday was wonderful and the cottage marvellous - the owners extended a wonderfully warm welcome to us. The cottage was even more lovely than the photos on your website and the attention to detail was faultless - better than any 5 star hotel! The property was superbly placed for exploring the beautiful Nth Yorks moors and also getting to the many lovely places along the coast. We shall be booking for a return visit next year! Customer 72 (March 2011)
